September 4th, 2008 - Los Angeles, CA - BOOM! Studios and The Jim Henson Company announced today that Keith R.A. DeCandido will be scripting the FARSCAPE miniseries from an original story by FARSCAPE creator Rockne O'Bannon.

Using O'Bannon's unique vision and richly detailed story, DeCandido will work with BOOM! Studios and The Jim Henson Company to bring fans the best comic this or any universe has ever seen!

Keith R.A. DeCandido has authored more than 30 novels, among them, the acclaimed FARSCAPE novel HOUSE OF CARDS, released in 2001. DeCandido also wrote three short stories in that universe for the show's official magazine and role-playing game.

"Words cannot describe how thrilled I am to be returning to FARSCAPE. Writing HOUSE OF CARDS was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my career, and I was always sorry I didn't get to do more work in the universe," said DeCandido. "Re-immersing myself in the wild and wacky world of FARSCAPE has been a true joy, as the show remains just as brilliant in 2008 as it was at the turn of the century.

"Working with Rockne just makes it a thousand times better. When he and I first met, the first thing he said to me was, 'You get it!'" added DeCandido. "And working together on the comic book has shown that we're both on a frighteningly similar wavelength. It's as easy and fun a collaboration as any I've had, and I hope there'll be lots more to come."

Debuting on the SCI-FI Channel in 1998, FARSCAPE follows the adventures of astronaut John Crichton, who has a freak accident during an experimental space mission that catapults him across a thousand galaxies to an alien battlefield. Suddenly, he's trapped among alien creatures wielding deadly technology - a battle that 20th century sci-fi pop culture never prepared him for. Hunted by a merciless military race, Crichton begins his quest for home from a distant galaxy.

A groundbreaking award-winning sci-fi production, FARSCAPE has become a global favorite. Named by TV Guide as one of television's "Best Cult Shows Ever" and most recently named by EMPIRE Magazine as one of the "50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time," FARSCAPE is known for the overwhelming fan-based campaign that led to its miniseries production. The show has continued to find new audiences as it airs in syndication and is available on DVD around the world.

Publisher returns to the Charm City with special guests, exclusive comics and great giveaways

Los Angeles, Calif. - September 2, 2008 - Top Cow Productions Inc. announced today it will be exhibiting at the 2008 Baltimore Comic-Con, a comics and pop culture extravaganza to be held at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland from September 27 - 28. The publisher will use the event to mark the launch of Dragon Prince, a new limited series co-created by Ron Marz (Witchblade) and Jeff Johnson (Amazing Spider-Man, Way of the Rat), written by Marz and drawn by Lee Moder (First Born: Aftermath, Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E.).
Dragon Prince is an all-ages story about a young boy who discovers he is not only descended from dragons but is also being hunted by an evil race of powerful Magi. A special Baltimore Comic-Con variant cover for issue #1, drawn by superstar cover artist David Finch (New Avengers, World War Hulk), will be available exclusively at the show. Marz, Moder and Finch will be at the convention and they will be signing copies of Dragon Prince #1 all weekend so fans should check the Top Cow booth for a schedule of their appearances.
In addition, Top Cow will host scorching-hot, rising star Kenneth Rocafort (Madame Mirage), who will attend to mark the debut of Cyblade #1, for which he has provided a variant cover. Cyblade #1 by Joshua Hale Fialkov (Pilot Season: Alibi) and Rick Mays (New Avengers) marks the launch of a solo series based on the young, psionic blade-wielding member of Cyberforce and follows her adventures before joining the team. The series is a result of a fan-voted poll in Top Cow's 2007 Pilot Season initiative, in which readers voted on which one-shot they'd like to see made into its own series.
Rocafort will also be on hand to sign copies of the Madame Mirage Vol. 1 trade paperback, which is available for the first time in September and collects all six issues that he and writer Paul Dini (Detective Comics) worked on. Madame Mirage is the tale of a gorgeous, tech-savvy femme fatale who targets an underground organization of super-villains for termination, but as the title suggests, all is not what it seems. Rocafort also penciled one of 2008's Pilot Season books, The Core, and will work on an as-yet-unannounced project for Marvel Comics.
An exclusive Baltimore Comic-Con cover for Broken Trinity #2 by Top Cow founder and superstar artist Marc Silvestri will also be available at the show. Broken Trinity is a three-part mini-series with three tie-in books in which at least one established character dies and new characters are introduced to the Top Cow Universe with permanent ramifications.
Top Cow will also present a panel on Saturday afternoon (check schedule at the show for time and location), where attendees can hear some exciting announcements about upcoming publishing plans, including new projects from top creators. Top Cow Publisher Filip Sablik, VP Editorial Rob Levin, Ron Marz, Lee Moder and Kenneth Rocafort will sit on the panel for the presentation and will also be available to answer any questions.
At the Top Cow booth, Sablik and Levin will be conducting portfolio reviews and accepting leave-behind samples of artwork from individuals who are interested in entering Top Cow's 2008 Talent Search, in which two talented up-and-comers will be invited to study under Marc Silvestri in the publisher's Los Angeles-based studio. See the schedule at the booth for designated times.
Top Cow is nominated for two Harvey Awards, one of the comic industry's oldest and most respected honors. The ceremony will be held at the Baltimore Comic-Con during the evening of September 27. As a bonus, there will be free preview books, prizes, and other giveaways available at the Top Cow booth at Baltimore Comic-Con, so fans should be sure to stop by when they attend the show. Tickets for the event are available at

New from NBM Publishing in November:A MOVING, TOPICAL GRAPHIC NOVEL ON ABUSEPlus: Eurotica’s new SIZZLE
News for retailers, journalists and readers from NBM Publishing publicist David Seidman ( / 310-652-4369)

New from NBM’s ComicsLit imprint:

By Alfred & Olivier Ka

“Peter was a populist priest. He was cool. He was funny. He was no priest, just a regular guy. It’s like I had another uncle. A great one, who laughed, who sang, who tickled. Until he took us for summer camp. Until we were so close, temptation came in the picture.”

Based on the writer’s own true story, this graphic novel presents the grey areas in a relationship between the abused and the abuser. As a boy, he had tucked the whole episode deep within him, but his rage and self-pity let it all out. Finally, he revisited the priest, now close to death, and came to grips with their painful history. WHY I KILLED PETER is a moving, topical, and important work, sensitively presented.

Full-color clothbound and jacketed graphic novel, 6” x 9”, 112 pages, $18.95, ISBN 978-1-56163-543-6

Adventures in Love and Matrimony by The New Yorker’s Cartooning Couple

Liza Donnelly and Michael Maslin

Random House Hardcover PUBLICATION DATE 2/5/08

For twenty years, veteran cartoonists Liza Donnelly and Michael Maslin have been married and have worked side by side as cartoonists at The New Yorker. CARTOON MARRIAGE: Adventures in Love and Matrimony by The New Yorker’s Cartooning Couple Liza Donnelly and Michael Maslin (Random House Publication Date 2/5/08) is their cartoon conversation featuring the funniest parts of relationships from both a male and female perspective. From how they met (at a New Yorker party) to how they keep their relationship fresh (a little healthy career competition) Maslin and Donnelly cover everything from dating to marrying, divorcing, and remarrying, from having sex to having kids. With chapters like “I do,” “Play With Me,” “Gifting and Getting,” “Ex Whatevers,” “Come Hither,” “Is It Worth It?” and “In Bed,” CARTOON MARRIAGE is perfect for newlyweds, long-marrieds, or anyone thinking (or NOT thinking) of taking the plunge.

For example:

The Wedding Day “And do you, Louise, take Jack to be your husband until really, really pissed-off do you part?”

Cohabitation “And this is where I go to escape from where I go to escape.”

Parenting “Dad says it’s all right with him if I watch TV as long as it’s not all right with you.”

Male/Female Communication “You could at least acknowledge the fact that I’m ignoring you.”

Renovation “I’ve made a few improvements, but the way you see him now is pretty much the way I found Harold eleven years ago.”

A trip to the bedroom: “Owen, look, the good-sex fairy.”
Bring the kids! Hanley's store is right across from the Empire State Building and has one of the largest selections of CHILDREN'S comics on earth!

Kyle will be signing his newest books, BABIES AND KITTENS and NAT TURNER, and his horribly offensive SPECIAL FORCES (not for kids!). He will also tell you lots of jokes and funny stories unless you stop him.

Independent publisher Super Real Graphics offers a new volume from it’s
creator owned graphic novella imprint, Super Real Graphics Presents: The
Wolves of Odin.

Available for preorder now in the current volume of Diamond Previews
catalog, September 2008, from Lucasfilm artist Grant Gould (Star Wars: The
Clone Wars online) comes The Wolves of Odin, an all new self-contained
original graphic novel.

The rise of Christianity amongst the north-men has frustrated Odin, Father
of the Norse Gods. Out of jealousy and anger, he has transformed three of
his most loyal berserkers into unstoppable beasts, and set them loose upon
his traitorous “followers”. Thor, God of Thunder, takes it upon himself to
challenge his father’s madness by aiding a loyal warrior of his own - the
Viking Tyr. Along with the help of a witch and two strangers, Tyr must face
the wolves and realize his own destiny. The Wolves of Odin is a stout brew
of fantasy storytelling, werewolves, and Norse mythology.

on this list can get them for $100 even. Just let me know.

Also, I’m currently working on my 75 sketch cards for the Marvel

And I’m always doing custom commissioned cards too.

28 August, 2008 (Berkeley, CA) - THE ADVENTURES OF SPAWN, the high adventure re-imaging of Todd McFarlane's seminal creation, returns this November in a full color one-shot concluding the highly praised "Awakening War" storyline written by Jonathan David Goff and illustrated by fan favorite artist Khary Randolph!
“Working on this project has been like a dream come true for me," said Randolph. "When I was younger, it was books like Spawn that made me want to draw comic books for a living. So to actually have the ability to fulfill that dream on Spawn really can’t be beat.”

In ADVENTURES OF SPAWN, Al Simmons, now known as Spawn X, teams up with fellow heroes Omega and Redeemer in the never-ending battle against the forces of Darkness and its vicious leader, Mammon! While ADVENTURES OF SPAWN made its debut online as SPAWN.COM’s very first web comic to coincide with McFarlane Toys’ own toy line (Spawn: Series 30 & 32), this one-shot is the only place to read the story's conclusion in its entirety.

Spawn creator Todd McFarlane added, "It’s fun is to see if your characters can fit into different settings, genres, mediums and/or formats – as a means to get your idea in front of more new eyes. ADVENTURES OF SPAWN is such an attempt. Unlike the regular title, this one is truly built around the word, 'adventure.' Join us as we dive head-first into a world of Spawn unlike the others I've populated."

THE ADVENTURES OF SPAWN #2 (SEP082222), a 48-page full color comic book for $5.99, will be in stores November 19th, 2008. For more information and to read the original web comic, please see .

August 28th, 2008 - Los Angeles, CA - Chris Morgan, the screenplay writer of the Hollywood blockbuster WANTED will be writing an issue of BOOM! Studios' successful anthology series ZOMBIE TALES. Featuring three different artists, this self-contained issue is guaranteed to terrify and please fans of the series as well as give new readers a great launching on point to these instant cult classics!

ZOMBIE TALES #4 is a special book-length adventure from Christopher Morgan, co-writer of the controversial SALEM: QUEEN OF THORNS and screenwriter of WANTED with his brother Terry Morgan! Three separate chapters by three different artists - Gabriel Hardman, Minck Oosterveer, and Jason Ho - chronicle the birth, life and death of a young Japanese soldier who seeks only to defend his village and his family from the zombie hordes who surround his island!

Pre-release reviews have been very strong:

"The unique art style, combined with the well developed story continuing through the chapters makes this a book you'll read in one sitting, but likely go back to savor in time." - Newsarama

"Great storytelling... the dialogue, and descriptions of the scenes, everything flows perfectly with this style of story. On top of all of that we also have a great team of artists... once again another great anthology piece put out there by BOOM! Studios." - Project Fanboy

"After reading Chris' ZOMBIE TALES and SALEM, you know this guy has tapped into the essence of the horror and fantasy genres," said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Mark Waid. "But what separates Chris from other people with that ability is that he's a great professional writer, who brings high quality stories to whatever medium or genre he happens to be writing for."

Chris Morgan and SALEM: QUEEN OF THORNS was featured on G4TV during Comic-Con International. BOOM! recently posted a behind the scenes footage to their website here:

ZOMBIE TALES #4 features covers by art by Minck Oosterveer and Marco Rudy and was released today.
