Darwyn Cooke Takes Aim At The Hunter In A New Way
The First Of Donald E. Westlake’s Acclaimed Parker Novels At IDW

San Diego, CA (May 2, 2014) – It’s no secret that Darwyn Cooke has garnered wide acclaim, including multiple Eisner and Harvey awards, adapting Donald E. Westlake’s world of Parker into graphic novels. But what should catch your attention today is that the acclaimed writer/artist is providing all-new illustrations for the classic Parker novels by Richard Stark (Westlake’s pen name), presented for the first time in a deluxe format. The series will be released in chronological order, and launch with The Hunter, the inaugural Parker story. Each book will contain 10 gorgeous paintings by Cooke, and, with the design and typography overseen by the renowned artist, this series promises to be a stylish tour-de-force.

Parker: The Hunter, will be available everywhere this June. But the debut of the book will come earlier as it makes a special advance unveiling on May 10th & 11th
at the Toronto Comic Arts Festival. Cooke, a special guest of the show, will be appearing both days to the sign the book, which features a unique dust jacket and signature plate. For more information please visit the TCAF website:

"Adapting Donald Westlake's novels into graphic novel form has been incredible, a dream come true," said Cooke, "and providing paintings that illustrate this seminal crime classic…well, it scratches a completely different kind of itch, but one just as creatively fulfilling."

The Hunter debuted in 1962. Stark’s resilient
creation would become one of the most influential American literary characters of the 20th century. The crime-infested world of Parker has been translated to the screen multiple times feature films like Point Blank, Payback, The Outfit and, most recently,                        One of the paintings in Parker: The Hunter
Parker. Darwyn Cooke and IDW Publishing
have teamed up to release four graphic novel adaptations thus far: The Hunter, The Outfit and The Score. The fourth, Slayground was released in December 2013 to high praise and critical acclaim.

“I’m always amazed by Darwyn’s versatility as an artist,” said editor Scott Dunbier, “he brings something new to everything he does. His work on the Parker graphic novels is phenomenal, and so are the paintings he has created here for the prose novels, but they are also completely different from one another—which is a big part of the fun!”

Lauded as a classic of the genre, The Hunter follows Parker on a cold-blooded mission of revenge. Betrayed by those closest to him, Parker sets out for retribution in a world of corruption, violence, and retribution. Whether you’re a fan of Stark, Cooke, or both, Parker: The Hunter will be an essential addition to any library this June.

In this limited edition version, Naruto Uzumaki is rendered in high quality full-color PVC, standing approximately 27cm tall and wearing the 4th Hokage’s famous coat. “I wanted to see the greatest Naruto figure with my own eyes, and am excited to partner with VIZ Media to make this a reality!” says Kineo Murakami, founder, Gecco. “The only person who can bring Naruto to vivid life is sculptor Shin Tanabe, and I’m sure anyone who sees this limited edition NARUTO SHIPPUDEN figure will marvel at this masterpiece!”

Created by Masashi Kishimoto, NARUTO was first introduced in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in Japan in 1999 and quickly became that country’s most popular ninja manga properties. The manga series (rated ‘T’ for Teens, in print and digital editions) and animated counterpart (NARUTO and NARUTO SHIPPUDEN rated ‘TV-14’) are some of VIZ Media’s most successful titles and have captivated millions of fans across North America, Europe and South America.

In the NARUTO manga and animated series, Naruto Uzumaki wants to be the best ninja in the land. He's done well so far, but with the looming danger posed by the mysterious Akatsuki organization, Naruto knows he must train harder than ever and leaves his village for intense exercises that will push him to his limits. NARUTO SHIPPUDEN begins two and a half years later, when Naruto returns to find that everyone has been promoted up the ninja ranks – except him. Sakura’s a medic ninja, Gaara’s advanced to Kazekage, and Kakashi…well he remains the same. But pride isn’t necessarily becoming of a ninja, especially when Naruto realizes that Sasuke never returned from his search for Orochimaru. Plus, the mysterious Akatsuki organization is still an ever-present danger. As Naruto finds out more about the Akatsuki’s goals, he realizes that nothing in his universe is as it seems. Naruto is finding that he’s older, but will he prove wiser and stronger?

First volume of the psychedelic new series lands this summer
Drum Hellar. There’s no mystic experience he won’t have. No drug he won’t take. No bog man he won’t dig up and revivify in an attempt to unravel the mystery of the significant look that a peacock gave him; a journey that will ultimately lead him, his invisible ghost friend Harold, and his werewolf ex-girlfriend to a dead cow in a field, which will lead them to… Well, “The mystery is the mystery of the mystery,” as the old farmer says.
You’re just going to have to read DRUMHELLAR VOLUME ONE: BADLANDS AND BAD TRIPS by Riley Rossmo and Alex Link (the creative team behind REBEL BLOOD) to find out just what the mystery of the mystery is. This summer, the cult hit from the Image Comics’ imprint Shadowline will take you on the trip of your life, with ghost triceratops, floating babies, and prison riots.
Link’s dialogue crackles and Rossmo’s riotous art merges reality with hallucination in a tale of exploration and discovery that Multiversity Comics called “Damn near perfect.” DRUMHELLAR VOLUME ONE will be in comic book stores on May 28 and in bookstores on June 10.

Praise for DRUMHELLAR:
Drumhellar impressed us right out of the gate with its cheerful mix of humour, psychedelics and the paranormal.”
- Michelle White, Multiversity Comics
Rossmo and Link are perfectly comfortable selling their world as is, and frankly the book is infinitely better for it. Maybe the answers are just lying around the corner, maybe they are far off, and maybe they don’t even exist. Whatever the context, Drumhellar concludes its first arc in a courageous and thought-provoking manner that is sure to leave you salivating for the second chapter.”
- Zac Thompson, Bloody Disgusting
Link’s knack for realistic, humorous dialogue and Rossmo’s truly unique artistic style marry up perfectly here, creating a book that is truly like nothing else on the shelves.”
- Craig Neilson, Big Comic Page
