ONGOING BADGE

Lumberjanes #3 Cover A
LUMBERJANES #3 Cover A by Noelle Stevenson

LUMBERJANES #3 Cover B by Faith Erin Hicks

May 19,  2014 - Los Angeles, CA - Sweet Bessie Coleman! LUMBERJANES fans around the world have asked, and BOOM! Box, an imprint of award-winning publisher BOOM! Studios, is pleased to announce that LUMBERJANES is now officially an ongoing comic series. Written by fan-favorite Noelle Stevenson (ADVENTURE TIME, Nimona) and Grace Ellis, co-created by BOOM! Studios editor Shannon Watters, with art from Brooke Allen (A Home for Mr. Easter), LUMBERJANES was originally slated to run for eight issues but has essentially been “promoted” due to overwhelming praise from critics and fans alike. The series is a fun mix of Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Gravity Falls, featuring five rad, butt-kicking teenage girls who go to summer camp, fight monsters, and discover a mystery that puts the whole world at stake, all while championing the power of “friendship to the max!”
“Seeing the reaction to this series is exactly why we do what we do here at BOOM!,” said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon. “There’s been an outpouring of love and support for LUMBERJANES, and much of that has come from fans who are picking up a comic for the first time in a while, if not for the first time ever. Noelle, Grace, Brooke, and Shannon have built an incredible comic book series that anybody can enjoy. ‘Friendship to the max’ sums it up perfectly.”
Jo, April, Mal, Molly and Ripley are five best pals determined to have an awesome summer together...and they’re not gonna let any insane quest or an array of supernatural critters get in their way! Not only is it the second title launching in our new BOOM! Box imprint, but LUMBERJANES is one of those punk rock, love-everything-about-it stories that appeals to fans of basically all excellent things.
Praise for LUMBERJANES #1:
“Noelle Stevenson, Grace Ellis, and Brooke Allen's LUMBERJANES could be your new favorite series—or your daughter's, or your dad's, or your little cousin's. It's an utterly loveable example of how well all-ages comics can work when they shoot for the moon instead of aiming for the lowest common denominator.” - Comic Book Resources
“Honestly, this title has the potential to be a new favorite cult hit. ...Stevenson, Ellis, Allen, and Laiho definitely deserve their merit badge for having me want more from this series.“ - Newsarama
“LUMBERJANES is a comic that'll surprise you. It's bizarre, over the top and extremely silly. That might sound like damning praise, but if you're fan of stuff like Adventure Time or Gravity Falls, you'll love the tone and look of this book.” - IGN
“LUMBERJANES is just plain enjoyable; it's a delightful read with great energy, and it's one of the books I look forward to most because it's just so fun.” - Comicvine
“LUMBERJANES is a labor of love, and it shows, from the lighthearted script to the playful art and lettering. Share this one with your whole family, because summer is right around the corner and it’s not too early for a little camping adventure.” - Multiversity

The first two issues of LUMBERJANES are already out in the wild. LUMBERJANES #3 arrives in comic shops on June 11th with a cover price of $3.99 under Diamond order code APR140998. The main cover is illustrated by Noelle Stevenson, with an incentive cover available in a limited quantity by Faith Erin Hicks (Friends With Boys). Not sure where to find your nearest comic retailer? Use comicshoplocator.com or findacomicshop.com to find one! It’s also available for order directly from boom-studios.com.

DARKNESS TAKES FLIGHT
IN WHISPERS

Supernatural thriller graphic novel by
Joshua Luna from Image in June

In WHISPERS, a chilling graphic novel by Joshua Luna (ULTRA, GIRLS, THE SWORD) due out in June, Sam is a young man struggling with anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder when he suddenly gains the ability to leave his body in “ghost” form and travel, free from his body, unseen.
As he travels, Sam finds he can manipulate people, nudging them to perform acts, as well as hear their thoughts. Unable to control this power, Sam’s actions lead to uncontrollable consequences, and soon he finds himself witnessing horrific acts. Can he right what has gone wrong in his life? Or will he lose himself in a shadow world of demonic forces?
“We are so accustomed to the filter that exists between a person's true thoughts and feelings and what they actually express out loud that we often don't know what it's like to get the raw truth,”  said Luna, who both wrote and drew WHISPERS. “But what if someone could override that filter? What if someone could peek into your mind and know your deepest fears and desires and use that knowledge to influence or even manipulate you? Whispers is about the headspace that we all try to protect from the outside world and how the awareness of its vulnerability can lead to empowerment or destruction."
WHISPERS is an intense supernatural thriller, sure to captivate fans of television shows like the BBC’s and Syfy’s Being Human and dark fiction like Joe Hart’s The Waiting. It will be in comic book stores on June 11 and in bookstores on June 24.
WHISPERS by Joshua Luna

DISPLACED PERSONS INSPIRED BY
THE CITY-BY-THE-BAY
An original graphic novel inspired by
San Francisco’s eclectic populace
From the Eisner-nominated writer Derek McCulloch (STAGGER LEE, Gone to Amerikay) and artist Anthony Peruzzo comes DISPLACED PERSONS, a riveting tale of murder, love, crime, friendship, betrayal, and just the slightest bit of time travel.
San Francisco, the twentieth century: In 1939, a private detective searches for a missing heiress. In 1969, twin brothers approach a drug heist from opposite sides of the law. And in 1999, a woman slowly comes to realize the terrible danger she faces in her own home.
McCulloch was inspired to write DISPLACED PERSONS because of a love of puzzle stories, detective stories, time travel stories, and a fascination with how history imprints itself on the smaller story of a family's history. “It's like reading rings in a tree... you can see the growth of the tree, ring by ring, and the distance between the rings tells you when the droughts hit, or the long winters, or the hurricanes,” explained McCulloch.
“You can look at a family tree the same way, and when you see that someone was born, say, in Poland in 1920, and their child was born in Baltimore in 1947, there's a story between those two rings. Displaced Persons takes those rings, and takes all the different kinds of stories I love, and mixes them up and twists them into a shape you won't really understand until the last page. It's a book I hope people will read twice... I guarantee you'll see things the second time you didn't know were there the first time."
DISPLACED PERSONS OGN is in an original graphic novel format and arrives in stores on 8/6 for $17.99. It is available to pre-order with Diamond Code JUN140499.

THE FINAL CHAPTER BEGINS WITH
DEAD@17: BLASPHEMY THRONE
A sequel series and the resurrection of Nara Kilday
Fans favorite creator Josh Howard begins an all-new saga and sequel to the popular DEAD@17 series with BLASPHEMY THRONE #1, the first issue in the seventh and final installment in the DEAD@17 story—and an epic finale that will take readers’ breaths away.

DEAD@17 follows the story of Nara Kilday, her subsequent death and resurrection, and her ongoing struggle with the forces of darkness. Nara's quest to discover her true nature and realize her destiny has put her in conflict with sinister cults, demon lords, a vampiric succubus, and even her closest friends.

At the conclusion of the previous series, DEAD@17: THE WITCH QUEEN, Nara found her spirit torn from her body as she attempted to escape Purgatory. Now, held captive by unknown entities in another dimension, Nara must find a way to return to Earth, reunite her spirit with her dying body, and put an end to the reign of Abraham Pitch and The Beast.

"I couldn't be more excited to finally be telling the conclusion to Dead@17 and to be doing it at Image. It's been a great ride, and I couldn't have done it without the support of the series' loyal and dedicated fans,” said Howard. “Having spent a third of my life with these characters, it's going to be hard to let them go, but I can't wait for everyone to learn the ultimate fate of Nara and her allies."

DEAD@17: BLASPHEMY THRONE #1 arrives in stores on 8/13 for $3.50. It is available to pre-order with Diamond Code JUN140473.
