A REFORMED KILLER FINDS HIS HAPPY PLACE IN BALTIMORE
Bizarre New Crime Series from David Hahn and Stephen Scott Hits the Streets in August

Berkeley, CA - 13 May 2010 - Artist DAVID HAHN joins newcomer STEPHEN SCOTT tell a story of doomed romance, bloodshed and the outer limits of human potential in MURDERLAND, published by Image Comics

Scott states, "In MURDERLAND, I wanted to do several things: (1) Teach people what an Arabber is before they are all gone, (2) show why Baltimore is more like a difficult lover than a crack head relative, and (3) stir funny feelings about a bearded woman. All I'm sure we did was mix some comedy with solid action and strangely authentic characters."

"Method is the money character," says Hahn. "Not just another pretty face, but one with the most unusual body issues I've ever seen. She is at one moment beautiful, then unexpectedly repulsive. I have a certain squeamishness regarding Method's 'hair powers,' but I have to say, I have never seen a writer so unafraid to 'ugly-up' his female lead without just beating her up. This is like nothing else I've drawn or even seen in mainstream comics."

BOO COOK, who provides the flip cover for the first issue, adds, "It just so happened that I was fired up about Baltimore from watching THE WIRE, and the MURDERLAND pitch just hooked me in."

"I've been a fan of David's artwork since his PRIVATE BEACH days, so I was thrilled when he and Stephen approached Image with MURDERLAND," says Image Publisher Eric Stephenson. "Together, they've come up with one of the more unique takes on the vigilante concept, and I think fans of crime comics are going to eat this up."

MURDERLAND unfolds on the "complicated" streets of Baltimore, Maryland. The Arabber is a reformed killer bent on bringing peace to his hometown. Method is his lover and partner in crime, but she may not be long for The Arabber's crusade.

MURDERLAND #1, a 32-page full-color comic book for $2.99, will be in stores August 4, 2010.

SJS Comic Promotions & Three J Productions set the stage for a new mini-series

Warwick, RI, May 11, 2010: Since 2002, writers, artists and fans have converged on Philadelphia each May to acknowledge Black creators and comics featuring Black characters, particularly superheroes. To celebrate the release of The Enforcers Zero Issue - The Director's Cut, which debuts at The East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention (ECBACC) on May 15, Publisher of Three J Productions, LLC and Creator, Carl Herring Jr. plans to also offer a limited number of copies of The Enforcers Part One featuring Maddox Turner, before its July release date.

Carl Herring Jr. has been reading and collecting comic books for over thirty years, particularly a fan of the comic books from the sixties right up until the mid eighties. Losing interest in comics in the nineties, Carl decided to create his own characters and write story lines that could entertain like the stories from days long gone. Carl also wanted to seek out talented artists who could recreate those master strokes reminiscent to the artists of his yester years. Thus with this in mind, Three J Productions, LLC was born.

Having created the company, now it was time to create the book. Carl sat down one night to pen his first story. Several weeks later Carl finished his first script. The book was The Enforcers. The title of the story was “The Chosen Ones.” With script in hand, Carl set out to find an artist. After several months of going through samples of various artists, Carl came across the portfolio samples of Tod Smith, the perfect artist to give the book the old school look. After reading the script, Tod agreed to do the artwork. The Zero Issue was released in 2005.

The Enforcers focuses on America's war on drugs that has taken a turn for the worst as drug lords across the country unite to create stronger drug cartels that openly challenge the nation's law enforcement communities. To combat these cartels, newly appointed Federal Drug Czar, Senator Lawrence Fulton has created The Enforcers Project. The goal of The Enforcers Project is to place small teams of specially trained and equipped men and women appointed as D.E.A. Enforcers in major cities throughout the nation. Their mission will be to target specific drug cartels and use all their resources to destroy the illegal operations.

To kick-start a five-issue Enforcers mini-series set to begin the summer of 2010, Carl is re-launching The Enforcers: Zero Issue. This Director’s Cut version includes several new pages of artwork and is printed in full color. Regarding the mini-series, Tod Smith will again be contributing his art to the series, with Carl performing the writing duties. The mini-series will run from the summer and continue through 2011 and will be published by Three J Productions, LLC.

Fans and members of the press can find Carl Herring Jr. at the Three J Productions booth at ECBACC on Saturday May 15, 2010 from 10 am to 7 pm at the Crowne Plaza Hotel 1800 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA.. For more information about Three J Productions LLC, Carl Herring Jr. or the Enforcers mini-series, visit http://threejproductions.com.

HOW SAFE IS YOUR KITCHEN?
Grapes come to life in Corey Lewis's SEEDLESS from Image Comics

Berkeley, CA - 12 May 2010 - Just when you thought it was safe to go to the supermarket for a bag of grapes, Corey Lewis (Sharknife, Peng) reminds us that aliens could be anywhere in his new one-shot from Image Comics, SEEDLESS. In SEEDLESS, grapes come from another planet, battle for freedom, and take a young girl on the adventure of a lifetime.

"I consider it like the movie BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED meets the video game MEGAMAN," says Lewis. "Originally, SEEDLESS was an online comic supported by Seattle-based video game store Pink Gorilla. The grape characters in SEEDLESS are from one of the first comics I created when I was twelve years old. The story is a bright and colorful, action-packed adventure for kids and adults!"

In SEEDLESS, Harmony Treblecleff is the daughter of an eccentric inventor, but she thought she led a pretty normal life. Normal, that is, until the grapes she grabbed from the kitchen came to life! Suddenly, Harmony is being attacked by a rogue Grape Tyrant from a distant planet (aptly named Crazy) and his many tiny minions. Her only hope is the intervention of a new special breed of heroic grape warriors -- ones that are SEEDLESS!

SEEDLESS, a 128-page full-color trade for $12.99, will be in stores August 4, 2010.

TODD MCFARLANE TO ATTEND BALTIMORE COMIC-CON 2010
McFarlane to appear Saturday, August 28, 2010, at the 11th annual Baltimore Comic-Con

Berkeley, CA - 10 May 2010 - Image Comics Founder and Partner Todd McFarlane is set to appear at Baltimore Comic-Con 2010 on Saturday, August 28, 2010. The creator of the groundbreaking comic book SPAWN will take part in signings and other events during the show.

"I'm thrilled to be able to participate in this year's Baltimore Comic Con," says McFarlane. "It's good to know events still exist where comics are the main focus, instead of being swallowed up by competing entertainment such as movies and video games. I appreciate all the support Baltimore Comic Con has provided Image with in the past, and I am looking forward to attending and meeting with fans."

Marc Nathan, organizer of the Baltimore Comic-Con, adds, "The Baltimore Comic-Con could not be more thrilled about hosting Todd McFarlane at this year's convention. Image Comics continues to be at the top of all our publishing partners. We all know how popular Todd is and look forward to a great time!"

From budding baseball player to comic book artist extraordinaire to family man, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane has a wealth of experience in the world of entertainment. McFarlane's road trip to creative autonomy began when he accepted an assignment penciling for Marvel/Epic Comics in March 1984. From there, he worked his way to the top of the talent roster before leaving Marvel to help found Image Comics with six other artists. It was then that Todd introduced his own character, Spawn. In 1994, Todd founded McFarlane Toys. Over the years, the company has become one of the largest, most renowned toy manufacturers in the world.

Don't miss SPAWN creator Todd McFarlane at this year's 11th annual Baltimore Comic-Con. He will appear one day only, on Saturday, August 28, 2010.

Toronto, Canada: Award-winning webcomics collective TX Comics gets a little bit sexier with two new features that will officially debut at the Toronto Comic's Art Festival (TCAF): Smooth 'N' Natural by Brian McLachlan and She's My Kind of Girl by Ramón K. Pérez.

These new series join an already star-studded line-up on TX Comics, home to such works as the Eisner Award-nominated The Abominable Charles Christopher by Karl Kerschl (artist/writer of The Flash in DC Comics' Wednesday Comics and Teen Titans Year One), Sin Titulo by Shuster Award-winner and Eisner Award-nominee Cameron Stewart (artist of Batman & Robin, Catwoman, and The Other Side), and Raising Hell by Andy Belanger (artist/writer of Bottle of Awesome and artist of Kill Shakespeare).

Smooth 'N' Natural is a retrosexual campy B-movie in comic form, influenced by blaxploitation, kung-fu, Russ Myer and more. Brian McLachlan tells the story of Luthor and Lucas Love, twin brothers from another mother – one white, one black – born at the exact same minute of the exact same day. Following in their late father's footsteps they put a foot up evil's ass and work their mojo with lovely ladies. In a parallel world where rock still rolls and funk never lost its soul, drug dealers and cult leaders better watch out. Never taking itself seriously, the strip features hardcore parkour and softcore sex that will steam up your reading glasses like a windshield at the drive-in.

Brian McLachlan is the author of graphic novel No Dead Time (Oni Press), a romantic comedy that counts Janeane Garofalo among its fans. Brian's written extensively for Vice Magazine, and profiled cult movie director Andy Sidaris for Sleazenation Magazine. His specialty is all-ages comics and art, like his TX Comics strip The Princess Planet, but is also happy to expand from respectable comics into more juvenile endeavours.

She's My Kind of Girl is a tribute to the classic pin ups of the 1940s and '50s, with a modern edge. Ramón K Pérez curates a group of fellow artists from TX Comics and their peers to contribute their visions of femininity. From fully clothed to barely covered, in a big city or on Mars, there's always a girl next door, and SMKOG is here to celebrate them.

Ramón K Pérez is a TX Comics contributor as both the writer/artist of Kukuburi and Butternut Squash (co-written by Rob Coughler), each having earned him Shuster Award nominations for Best Webcomic. His print comics work includes Star Wars, Resistance: Fall of Man, Justice Society of America, NYX and an upcoming Dazzler one-shot special.

TX Comics is a collective of professional illustrators and cartoonists who are united by their desire to produce top-flight comics. Recognizing the potential of the internet to be a primary source of art and entertainment, and motivated by their interest in producing exciting, personal work free from commercial and editorial constraint, the artists of TX have all worked to create some of the highest-quality comics yet seen on the web.

Frank Frazetta's Dark KingdomIt's 1968 and the End of the World at Phoenix Comicon

Kidwell, Jones and Fotos will Relaunch '68 at the Phoenix Comicon

Phoenix, AZ April 28th 2010: The creators of Vietnam- zombie war ridden comic '68 recently announced its relaunch and will be promoting it with a limited edition print at Phoenix Comicon. '68 is published by Image Comics with Mark Kidwell ( Bump, Frazetta’s Dark Kingdom), Nat Jones (Frazetta’s Death Dealer, Rob Zombie’s The Nail) and Jay Fotos (Frazetta’s Death Dealer, Locke & Key).

"I'm so excited!" said Andrea Beasely-Brown, Horror Programming Manager for the Phoenix Comicon, "Zombies just make everything better."

The '68 miniseries picks up right where the original tale left off and broadens its scope, encompassing not only the gore-soaked horrors of the war in Vietnam, but fixing a bloodshot eye on the politically torn USA as the dead rise, heralding the apocalypse and devouring anything with a pulse.

To celebrate the continuation of '68, Kidwell, Jones and Fotos will be attending the 2010 Phoenix Comicon, May 27-30, 2010. The creators are proud to present an exclusive, limited edition print -- a gruesome, full-color 11" x 17" depiction of Napalm Charlie -- signed by Kidwell, Jones and Fotos.

“The Phoenix Comicon is hot!” said local creator Jay Fotos, “I’m so happy that Mark, Nat and I will be here to unleash the plague of the ’68 re-launch, the fans have been dying for it and so have we!”

"The zombies will be moaning for more than just brains this year," says Matt Solberg, Phoenix Comicon Convention Director, "They'll be wanting these limited edition prints!"

WELCOME TO 1968...AND THE END OF THE WORLD!
Kidwell, Jones and Fotos invite you to forget what you "think" you know about 1968...

Berkeley, CA - 29 April 2010 - After February 13th, 1968, everything changed. The Beatles did not soar to Billboard's #1 spot with "HEY JUDE." Steve McQueen would not lay claim to the greatest car chase in cinema history with BULLITT. McDonald's would never offer a Big Mac, and hundreds of thousands of children who dreamt of reaching the stars would never get any closer to a space capsule than a glass of Tang. And amid the deadly steaming jungles of Vietnam, the violent clash of democracy against the creeping threat of communism stalls as the war-torn People's Republic gives up its hungry dead.

The zombies are back in the razor wire...

Mark Kidwell, Nat Jones and Jay Fotos, creators of the cult hit one-shot comic '68, announce the continuation of their horrific Vietnam/Zombie epic. The '68 miniseries picks up right where the original tale left off and broadens its scope, encompassing not only the gore-soaked horrors of the war in the east, but fixing a bloodshot eye on the politically torn USA as the dead rise, heralding the apocalypse and devouring anything with a pulse.

"Nat, Jay and I have wanted to expand on the story in '68 for years," Kidwell shares, "but other commitments and projects just kept getting in the way. All the roadblocks are down now, and we're revving full-tilt boogie back into the jungle."

"This is what we do," Jones explains. "We are Horror guys, and jumping back into the world of '68 really gets our creative juices going! We have a lot more story to tell and more importantly, we are having a lot of grisly fun with it!"

On top of all of the '68 zombie action, the new series will also feature a bloody backup story! These 4-5 page side stories tie directly into the main plot line, fleshing out the violent world of '68. Illustrated by Tim Vigil (FAUST, BUMP), expect some dark business in these bonus pages.

"How cool is that!" Fotos exclaims. "Having Vigil come in to draw zombie filled stories for every issue! I'm so amped to get these books out!"

'68 #1 (of 4), a full-color 32-page comic book, will be available from Image Comics in Fall/Winter 2010.

The Last Unicorn Has Arrived
Six-issue miniseries of Peter S. Beagle’s enduring tale starts today

“Absolutely beautiful” – Blair Butler, G4TV

“The only word for this comic is perfect.” – ComicsBulletin.com

San Diego, CA (April 28, 2010) - Peter S. Beagle's acclaimed and enchanting fantasy, The Last Unicorn, has delighted fans for more than forty years. Now, IDW Publishing is pleased to launch The Last Unicorn comic book adaptation of Beagle's acclaimed novel. Called “absolutely beautiful” by G4TV’s Blair Butler, the first installment of this six-issue adaptation is now available in comic stores throughout North America. Under the close direction of Beagle himself, writer Peter B. Gillis, illustrator Renae De Liz and her husband, colorist Ray Dillon, have all joined forces with IDW to capture the depth of this heartfelt story.

“I’m delighted that IDW is doing this adaptation of my book,” says Beagle, “and by the real effort everyone there has made to stay true to what I wrote. Together with the creative team of Peter, Renae, and Ray, they are achieving something I honestly hadn’t believed possible and I cannot wait for fans to see it.”

Debuting at WonderCon 2010, the first issue has already received high praise from critics and fans alike. ComicsBulletin.com recently joined the ranks of The Last Unicorn #1 fans, saying “The only word for this comic is perfect. Really, it's hard to find any other word for this.” The glowing review ends with more praise: “It's a guaranteed great read and a definite candidate for best of the year.”

The Last Unicorn was originally published in 1968 and became an instant classic, selling more than five million copies worldwide. Beagle created some of the most delightful and real characters in modern fantasy fiction, and also wrote the screenplay for the incredibly popular animated film that was adapted from his novel.

By turns darkly humorous and deeply moving, The Last Unicorn follows what may be the very last unicorn on her journey to discover what happened to the rest of her kind. The unicorn encounters a magical cast of both good and evil characters during her quest, as she explores a world transformed by the lack of unicorns, and by the selfish disillusionment of a king.

The Last Unicorn #1 (of 6, $3.99, 32 pages, full color) is now available in stores. Diamond order code FEB10 0936.
