'Doctor Who’s' Matt Smith And Karen Gillan Added To Wizard World Comic Con Austin’s All-Star Lineup, September 23-25

Smith, who played the Eleventh incarnation of the Doctor in the British television series, will attend on Saturday, September 24, while Gillan, who portrayed Amy Pond, is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, September 24-25 at the Austin Convention Center.

He received a BAFTA Award nomination in 2011 and his final Doctor Who episode in 2013 was BBC America's largest audience ever, attesting to both the popularity of the series in America and Smith's success in the role.

Beginning in 2010, Gillan appeared in Series 5-7 of Doctor Who as the new companion to the Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith. The Inverness, Scotland, native starred in the film Not Another Happy Ending and was a regular on Adult Swim's NTSF:SD:SUV. Gillan also portrayed the mercenary, Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy and will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, slated for release in 2017.

Image Comics is thrilled to congratulate all the winners of last night’s Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards. Image Comics creators were honored with seven category award wins.

Jordie Bellaire won Best Coloring for her work on such series as THE AUTUMNLANDS, INJECTION, PLUTONA, PRETTY DEADLY, THE SURFACE, THEY’RE NOT LIKE US, and ZERO among many other titles.

Cliff Chiang took home the Eisner award for Best Penciller/Inker for his work on PAPER GIRLS. The PAPER GIRLS series by Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang also won in the Best New Series category.

The Best Painter/Multimedia Artist award went to Dustin Nguyen for his work on DESCENDER.

Jason Aaron was recognized for his work on SOUTHERN BASTARDS with an Eisner win in the category of Best Writer. SOUTHERN BASTARDS by Jason Aaron and Jason Latour also snagged the award for Best Continuing Series.

Ed Brubaker, Sean Phillips, and Elizabeth Breitweiser’s THE FADE OUT won the Eisner for Best Limited Series.

Syfy Renews Wynonna Earp from SEVEN24 Films
and IDW Entertainment
Season Two Picked Up For 10 One-Hour Episodes

San Diego, CA (July 23, 2016) – SEVEN24 Films and IDW Entertainment, a subsidiary of IDW Media Holdings (OTC PINK: IDWM), today announced that Syfy has renewed Wynonna Earp for a second season. The announcement came during the Wynonna Earp panel at Comic Con International in San Diego where the full cast appeared as guests. The freshman series scored big with both critics and fans, becoming a hit on social media, spawning hashtags, and trending weekly with each new episode. It recently nabbed the E! News TV Scoop Award for Best New Series of 2016.

Developed by Showrunner and Executive Producer Emily Andras, the series stars Melanie ScrofanoShamier Anderson, Tim Rozon, Dominique Provost-Chalkley, and is based on the IDW Publishing comic book series created by Beau Smith.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: SAN DIEGO, CA —Dark Horse Deluxe, an imprint of Dark Horse Comics, has revealed the latest figure in an ongoing series of characters from the critically acclaimed HBO® series Game of Thrones®—Son of the Harpy.
The Sons of the Harpy is an underground insurgency group composed of former slavers who are fighting the rule of Daenerys Targaryen over Meereen. They take their name from the harpy, the heraldic symbol of the slave masters in the Ghiscari cities of Slaver’s Bay. They conceal their identities by wearing golden masks with horned faces resembling harpies.
Dark Horse Deluxe’s detailed figure represents one of the many Sons of the Harpy seen on HBO’s adaptation of Game of Thrones.
Son of the Harpy will be the twenty-fifth figure in the series and is slated for in-store release in October of 2016.
“The Dark Horse Game of Thrones figure series, with over twenty-five characters produced so far, has become a collection. We thought the mysterious and dangerous Son of the Harpy was the perfect candidate to join the family,” Dark Horse Product Development head David Scroggy remarked.
The Son of the Harpy collectible will join seven additional Game of Thrones figures released in 2016: Ygritte, Margaery Tyrell, Oberyn Martell, Grey Worm, Varys, The Night King, and Stannis Baratheon.
Response to Dark Horse Deluxe’s Game of Thrones collectibles line has been tremendous, and additional characters and products are in development for release in fall and winter 2016.
Game of Thrones figures have a suggested retail price of $24.99 and are packaged in deluxe window box packaging.

Dark Horse Comics Teams Up with Blizzard Entertainment for Overwatch® Publishing Program


FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: SAN DIEGO, CA — Dark Horse Comics and Blizzard Entertainment have joined forces on a publishing program centered around the hottest game of the year, Overwatch®. The program consists of a slate of products based on Blizzard’s team shooter, including digital comics, a graphic novel, and an art book.
Dark Horse has already begun republishing a series of free digital comics by Blizzard Entertainment that further illuminate the characters and world of Overwatch. A number of eight-page digital comics are already available through Dark Horse’s digital comics platforms, with more currently in production and slated for release in the future.
A hardcover original Overwatch graphic novel has been slotted for release in April 2017. This brand-new entry in the Overwatch canon will contain one hundred pages of sequential artwork telling the story of the original Overwatch strike team.
Summer 2017 will see the release of The Art of Overwatch, a stunning collection of never-before-seen concept art from the critically acclaimed game. Stay tuned for more details regarding The Art of Overwatch.
Also announced this week, Dark Horse and Blizzard have set the date for the second volume of their best-selling World of Warcraft® series. The special television event follows paranormal all-star Nick Groff and seasoned ghost hunter Katrina Weidman from Destination America’s hit series PARANORMAL LOCKDOWN as they investigate the Black Monk House, located in Yorkshire, England, which is universally feared as the home of the most violent poltergeist activity in history. Groff and Weidman will confine themselves to the infamous house for the longest paranormal investigation ever on television in an attempt to capture the most convincing paranormal evidence ever to be recorded. World renowned paranormal researcher and demonologist John Zaffis, whose hit series HAUNTED COLLECTOR currently airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on Destination America, will provide analysis.

Today, the Black Monk House sits empty. It continues to challenge paranormal investigators and enthusiasts, as no one has been able to withstand more than two days in the house. Over the last 50 years, visitors to the Black Monk House have reported unexplainable demonic sounds, objects levitating, and people being physically attacked. There was even an account of a little girl being dragged up a flight of stairs by an unseen assailant, forcing her family to flee the home. It’s believed that the spirits in the house can be traced to an ancient burial ground and gallows that were once located near the land where the house currently sits.
