SPIKE TV ANNOUNCES ALL-STAR LINE-UP AND HONOREES FOR “SCREAM 2008”

“SCREAM 2008” To Honor Visionaries Tim Burton And Wes Craven With Discretionary Awards



Spike TV’s “SCREAM 2008” Premieres Tuesday, October 21 At 9:00 PM, ET/PT



New York, NY, October 2, 2008 – Spike TV has announced that it will present film legends Tim Burton and Wes Craven with discretionary awards for their groundbreaking achievements in the horror, sci-fi, fantasy and comic book genres during “SCREAM 2008.” The celebration will gather the industry’s most talented men and women to honor these two filmmakers, who have molded the genre with their innovative style and foresight. The third annual televised event tapes on Saturday, October 18 at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles, CA and premieres Tuesday, October 21 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on Spike TV.



Spike TV’s “SCREAM 2008” will also feature appearances and performances by Kristen Bell, Julie Benz, Darren Lynn Bousman, Thomas Dekker, Guillermo Del Toro, Summer Glau, Samuel L. Jackson, Doug Jones, Kerli, Stan Lee, The Osbournes, Jared Padelecki, Ron Perlman, Amanda Righetti, Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, Seann William Scott, Kevin Smith, Liv Tyler, Gerard Way, Rob Zombie and many more to be announced shortly.



With such films to his credit as “Beetlejuice,” “Edward Scissorhands,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Sweeney Todd,” Tim Burton has contributed more to the genres of fantasy, sci-fi and horror than any other filmmaker of his generation. Burton is a rare filmmaker who has successfully crossed these genres and Spike TV is thrilled to honor him with the 2008 SCREAM Immortal Award.



Wes Craven, the genius behind “The Hills Have Eyes,” “Swamp Thing,” the “SCREAM” franchise and “The Nightmare on Elm Street,” will be presented with this year’s SCREAM Mastermind Award. This award is presented to a filmmaker whose unique vision of horror, science fiction and/or fantasy has been deemed important, critically-acclaimed and culturally significant. The 2006 award was presented to Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez.
