PROFILES IN HISTORY AND AMERICAN CINEMATHEQUE AT THE EGYPTIAN THEATRE, HOLLYWOOD TO OFFER A SNEAK PEEK AT THE FORREST J ACKERMAN ESTATE AUCTION SUNDAY, MARCH 8, 2009

Bela Lugosi's Dracula Ring, Cape, Costume From The Raven; Bram Stoker / Lugosi Signed First Edition Dracula Book and the "Maria" Robot and Fritz Lang's Monocle From Metropolis to be Displayed at Ackerman Tribute


Calabasas, CA, February 26, 2009 - Fans of the late legendary Horror and Sci-fi icon Forrest J (Forry) Ackerman (Please note: There is NO period after the "J") will have a chance to catch a glimpse at some of his most treasured items, as Profiles in History joins American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre in their tribute to Ackerman on Sunday, March 8, 2009. Several major items will be on display during the tribute's opening reception, 3:00pm-4:00pm including the Dracula ring worn by Bela Lugosi as Count Dracula; Lugosi's robe from The Raven; a cape made for Lugosi in 1932 and used many times for his stage portrayal of Dracula as well as in Lugosi's performance in Plan 9 from Outer Space; a first edition of the book, Dracula signed by Bram Stoker and inscribed by Bela Lugosi to Forry Ackerman (also signed by a host of other Dracula-related personalities); the "Maria" robot from Metropolis and Fritz Lang's monocle, which he wore when he directed Metropolis and given to Forry by Lang.

These iconic pieces are just a few of the highlights of the 100's of items that make up the Forrest J Ackerman Estate Auction, which will be featured as part of the Profiles in History spring auction of Hollywood memorabilia set to take place April 30 and May 1, 2009.
