MARK WAID! PAUL SMITH! IDW! DC ENTERTAINMENT!
THE ROCKETEER!
THE SPIRIT!
It’s PULP FRICTION as Icons Finally Meet This Summer!

San Diego, CA (March 31, 2013) – IDW Publishing and DC Entertainment are pleased to announce the meeting of two of comics’ greatest pulp heroes! Dave Stevens’ high-flying Cliff Secord will finally cross paths with Will Eisner’s iconic Denny Colt this summer in THE ROCKETEER/THE SPIRIT: PULP FRICTION! The four-issue series, taking off in July, will also pack quite the creative wallop, being written by multi-Eisner Award-winning scribe Mark Waid and drawn by the legendary Paul Smith!

“Not many writers have been lucky enough to write The Rocketeer or The Spirit,” said Mark Waid, “so I feel like I’ve won the lottery. This is one of the most exciting—and scariest—assignments I’ve ever undertaken. Luckily, I’ve got Paul Smith to make me look good!”

“This is one of those ideas that just makes me smile,” said Editor Scott Dunbier, “I’m a long-time fan of both characters and it’s an honor to work on it. And if Mark won the lottery, I hit the Powerball, baby!”

The Rocketeer/Spirit: Pulp Friction features a murder mystery and political intrigue. From the grim and gritty streets of Central City where The Spirit navigates through the urban underbelly of corruption to the sunny skies of Los Angeles where The Rocketeer soars above the Hollywood elite, these two classic characters will become enthralled in murder, mayhem, and all manner of danger—and with a healthy dose of signature humor tossed in for good measure.

The Rocketeer/Spirit: Pulp Friction arrives in stores July 10th.
