Nemo Publishing Partners with Maine Comics Arts Festival

(May 12, 2014- Portland, Maine) Nemo Publishing announced today their plans and promotions around this weekend's Maine Comics Arts Festival. They will have great deals on toys and books as well as a chance for fans to take part in a rare opportunity to attend Maine comic artist Jay Piscopo's presentation “Draw On Your Creativity”. Maine Comics Arts Festival (MeCaf) will be the last time ANYWHERE for customers to be able to purchase the Nemo Publishing Sea Ghost Action Figure for the low pre-order price of $16.00. All of the Nemo Publishing products wil be on sale and to add even more to the festivities, Capt'n Eli's Soda will be debuting two new flavors: Black Cherry and Cream Soda.  The Maine Comics Arts Festival is open from 10am-5pm Sunday May 18th at the Portland Company Complex, 58 Fore Street, Portland, ME. How did a soda line create a toy and book line? Capt'n Eli products were inspired by the namesake of real-life World War II veteran Eli Forsley from Gray, Maine. Jay Piscopo's workshop will be taking place at 11:30 at the festival. The presentation area will be just off the main hall.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION – DRAW ON YOUR CREATIVITY:
Comic book artist Jay Piscopo invites students to try their hand at cartoon art and demonstrates how anyone can learn to draw and create comics.  Using simple geometric shapes, Jay teaches kids how to build anatomy and perspective to create art that tells a story.  Stand by for adventure with this interactive workshop! About the Creator:
Maine native Jay Piscopo is the author and illustrator of “The Undersea Adventures of Capt’n Eli” graphic novel series. He is also the creator of“Sea Ghost #1: The Sea Ghost in the Machine” and “Commander X All Star Special” one-shot comic books, which he wrote and illustrated in his unique signature style, combining 2D characters with 3D backgrounds. He is a featured contributor in the Reading With Pictures anthology and a regular illustrator for Moonstone Books. Past projects include working as an art director at Tom Snyder Productions where he produced educational CD-ROMs, including the award-winning “Fizz and Martina’s Math Adventures,” and animated the ABC Saturday Morning show “Squigglevision.

The Maine Comics Arts Festival will be held in Portland on Sunday, May 18, 2014. Featuring over 120 comics writers, artists and publishers, this will be a celebration of the comics art form. This is the sixth year of the festival which features the creators behind the comics instead of the dealers who sell them.
