ONI PRESS RECEIVES THREE EISNER NOMINATIONS

NOMINATIONS REFLECT STRENGTH OF ONI PRESS YOUNG ADULT / KIDS TITLES

PORTLAND, OR April 27, 2015 – Oni Press, Portland’s premier independent comic book publisher, today celebrates three Will Eisner Comic Industry Award nominations for I Was The Cat, Meteor Men and Mermin Book Three: Deep Dive. All three titles are on sale on ComiXology until 11 pm EDT on Monday, 4/27. These nominations speak to the strength of young adult and kids titles in the Oni Press library.

I Was The Cat, written by Benjamin Dewey and illustrated by Paul Tobin, follows
Allison Breaking, a talented journalist with her own blog and a lot of bills to pay. When she receives an offer from a mysterious stranger named Burma to write his memoirs, it's an offer she can't refuse, not even with all the red flags popping up. But Burma is quite literally unlike any man Allison's ever known... because he's a cat. This cat has stories to tell about how he, over the course of a few lifetimes, has shaped the world and another, darker story that Allison must risk all to uncover. A story of what this particular cat has been doing with the last of his nine lives.

Meteor Men, written by Jeff Parker, illustrated by Sandy Jarrell and colored by Kevin Volo, begins on a summer night, as Alden Baylor sits in a field watching the largest meteor shower in human history. His teenage adventure becomes something more when the celestial event brings travelers who will change the world completely and Alden discovers a connection to one of them. How does a young man who had to grow up fast handle the invasion of his planet?

Mermin Book Three: Deep Dive by Joey Weiser, takes us to Mer, the underwater kingdom where Mermin the merman was born. Due to a rising conflict with the people of Atlantis Mermin is needed back home immediately, which means that his human friends get to accompany him and see all its aquatic wonders. Once again, Mermin is tight-lipped about his past... even when it’s swimming right in front of him. There are enemies lurking in the seedier depths of Mer, who’ve got their sights set not only on Mermin but on Pete and his friends.
