ONI PRESS SELLS OUT INVADER ZIM ISSUE #1, PREPARES SECOND PRINTING

FAN DEMAND CALLS FOR SECOND PRINTING OF COMIC BASED ON BELOVED NICKELODEON SERIES

PORTLAND, OR July 24, 2015 – Oni Press, Portland’s premier independent comic book publisher, announced today a second print run for the first issue of its Invader Zim comic, based on the treasured Nickelodeon animated series from creator Jhonen Vasquez.

Since its July 8th debut, demand has been overwhelming for the first-ever appearance of Invader Zim in comics. Stoked by the involvement of Zim creator Jhonen Vasquez, who is providing retailer incentive covers for every issue, writing the initial two issues and consulting closely with Oni Press on the series’ narrative. To meet this demand, Oni Press will produce a second print run of the first issue with a new cover by series penciller Aaron Alexovich.

This excitement was apparent first-hand at recent convention appearances of Invader Zim. At Denver Comic Con, signings by Vasquez were full throughout the entire weekend; the trend continued at San Diego Comic-Con International, where signings and a panel for Invader Zim were both completely packed, with the Invader Zim #1 convention exclusive variant a highly-desirable top seller.

This second printing of Invader Zim #1 will have an FOC date of 7/27 and will be in stores on 8/19, the same release date as Invader Zim #2. Retailers are urged to stock up on this much-sought-after comic.
