PRESS RELEASE - THE WALKING DEAD FLIPS THE SOLD OUT CHEW #1 THIS JULY!
The fan-favorite undead meets the sold out cannibalistic clairvoyants in THE WALKING DEAD #63/CHEW #1 Flipbook!
7 July 2009 (Berkeley, CA) – CHEW’s sell-out sensations, writer John Layman and illustrator Rob Guillory, are teaming up with Image Comics veteran Robert Kirkman to bring their sold out first issue to the masses in a very special black and white full issue flipbook in the upcoming WALKING DEAD #63 at no additional charge!
"As a creator, there's nothing more satisfying than hearing that a lot of people are interested in reading your book. The flip side of this is there's nothing more frustrating than hearing how people can't get a hold of your book to read," Layman said. "So, Image and Robert Kirkman concocted this great plan to put CHEW in a lot of people hands-- and for the unbeatable low, low price of 'free'."
CHEW's star, Detective Tony Chu, is a cop with a secret. As a Cibopath, Detective Chu gets a psychic impression from whatever he eats. While it means he's a hell of a Detective if he can stomach the evidence, once his secret gets out the government makes plans for him, whether he likes it or not. CHEW blends horror, mystery and the strangest ability of them all in an ongoing series of horrific crimes solved in the most horrific way possible.
Layman added, "If you're remotely interested in seeing for yourself what all the CHEW buzz is about, this is your chance. Of course, the black & white preview does not do justice to Rob Guillory's magnificent colors in the regular book, so if you like what you read in THE WALKING DEAD, you'll have opportunity to buy third and second printings of issues #1 and #2 when #3 hits the stores on August 5th!"
WALKING DEAD #63 (MAY090359), a 48-page black and white comic book for $2.99 featuring the entireity of CHEW #1 at no additional charge, will be in-stores July 17th, 2009.

"SPARKS PART 2", the first-ever iPhone/ iTouch motion comic book with lip-synch——released by Catastrophic Comics
Voiced by Hollywood actors Michael Paré, William Katt, and Michael Bell
(July 8, 2009) Los Angeles—"Sparks Part 2,” the first motion comic book with lip-synch, created specifically for the iPhone and iTouch, is proudly presented by Catastrophic Comics. The SPARKS PART 2 Application, which includes original artwork, in addition to the original motion comic, can be downloaded for 99 cents at the iTunes Store (keywords: "Sparks Part 2" or "Catastrophic Comics"). A superhero noir-thriller that was published as a comic book series in 2008, “Sparks” bridges the gap between the printed page and full-fledged animation.
"Part 2” is voiced by actors Michael Paré ("Eddie and the Cruisers"), Michael Bell ("Transformers"), Charlie Brill ("Star Trek"), Kevin Sherwood ("Gamers"), Courtenay Taylor (“Justice League Heroes”), and Ashley Bell ("United States of Tara").

"This won't be Robot Chicken style, where they draw the mouths moving, which, for the record, I love Robot Chicken. However, our Animation Director, Sean Ruge, did an amazing job perfecting the lip-synch. It really adds to the overall story without looking like a big bowl of cheese", commented William Katt, co-owner and executive producer of Catastrophic Comics.
"Sparks Part 2 will be a standard for this genre for a very long time. This is the future of comics and it will reach a whole new audience which a traditional comic book is incapable of doing", stated Christopher Folino, writer and co-director of the Sparks series.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Epic Tales of Monkey Island⢠pirate adventure premieres today!
Swashbuckling saga over five months begins now at www.telltalegames.com
SAN RAFAEL, CA, July 7, 2009 â Arrrrr! Polish up your swashbuckles and grab your sword, because legendary pirate Guybrush Threepwood sets sail today on the first all-new Monkey Island® adventure in over a decade. Telltaleâs highly anticipated game series, Tales of Monkey Island, begins now at www.telltalegames.com for PC with âLaunch of the Screaming Narwhal,â the first chapter in an epic five-month adventure created by the same team responsible for acclaimed episodic seriesâ including Sam & Max, Wallace & Gromitâs Grand Adventures and Strong Badâs Cool Game for Attractive People. The first Tales of Monkey Island chapter is expected to release for WiiWare⢠in the coming weeks as well.
The saga begins with a heated battle involving the brave but often bumbling Mighty Pirate⢠Guybrush, his beloved wife Elaine, and their nemesis, the demon pirate LeChuck. When the showdown goes up in flames, Guybrush finds himself marooned on a strange island with winds that always blow inward. How will our hero manage to escape this meteorological anomaly? What has become of LeChuck and Elaine? And whatâs the story with the infectious voodoo pox thatâs spreading across the Caribbean, causing Guybrush and other pirates to act like unruly hooligans? These are just some of the many questions posed in this first chapter of what will become one of the most rollicking and rip-roaring entertainment experiences of the summer.
Dave Grossman, Telltaleâs design director and a designer/writer for the original Monkey Island games says âI was laughing my eyepatch off on a daily basis while we were first cooking up Monkey Island at Skywalker Ranch, but if youâd told me then that it would become a classic, and that twenty years later Iâd be working with a killer all-star piratey crew to spin an epic new tale and bring the series to a whole new generation of players, I would have said⦠well, probably, âLook behind you, a three-headed monkey,â but then Iâve always been a bit weird that way.â
Tales of Monkey Island will unfold over the next five months, with each episodic chapter raising the stakes on Guybrushâs quest to eradicate the insidious Pox of LeChuck, reunite with his wife, and vanquish his rival. Much like the best television and films series, the story becomes deeper and more engrossing with interweaving threads building to twists and surprises in the grand finale this fall.
Customers who order from Telltaleâs online store during the first week of availability can choose any other Telltale episode of their choice to include free with their purchase. Visit www.telltalegames.com/monkeyisland to get into the adventure now. Additional Tales of Monkey Island details, gameplay trailers, and a playable demo are also available at the site.

Vampirella Returns with Game Changing, $1.99 Miniseries, Vampirella: The Second Coming
New York (July 6, 2009) – Vampirella returns this September in Vampirella: The Second Coming #1, the first issue of a game changing, four issue miniseries. Each issue is priced at $1.99 and can be ordered now in this month’s Previews catalogue. The miniseries serves as the keystone event of the 40th Anniversary of Vampirella, a year long celebration of this icon of horror.
Written by Eisner Award nominee Phil Hester (The Darkness) with art by red-hot newcomer Daniel Sampere, the Second Coming will fundamentally alter Vampirella, her universe and her stories forever. Here is the provocative solicitation in this month’s Previews:
“Vampirella is not real. Like Marilyn Monroe and Bettie Page she’s a cultural phenomenon now woven into society’s DNA, a symbol of sensuality and power. So thinks a group of women who become increasingly and inexplicably fascinated with her, getting Vampi tattoos, researching her story and seeking each other out to celebrate her. But as a virus ravages Washington, possessing any man it comes across and liberating their darkest desires, these women feel a call from something… or someone… to battle this new threat. Who is doing this to them? Is Vampirella real after all?”
Vampirella: The Second Coming #1 is 20 pages of full color story with no interior ads. It features covers by best selling artist Arthur Suydam (Marvel Zombies), fan favorites Joe Jusko, (Tomb Raider) and Ryan Stegman (Grimm’s Fairy Tales) and the final Vampirella cover by the legendary Jose Gonzalez.
All four covers can be ordered with the following codes:
Vampirella: The Second Coming #1 Suydam Edition JUL09 0648
Vampirella: The Second Coming #1 Gonzalez Edition JUL09 0649
Vampirella: The Second Coming #1 Stegman Edition JUL09 0650
Vampirella: The Second Coming #1 Jusko Edition JUL09 0651

A special retailer incentive is also offered: for every forty copies ordered retailers can also order one Arthur Suydam Museum Edition.

Hey gang,
Just a quickie. I was playing around with Amazon's digital text platform service, and found it so easy to use, I figured I might as well put up some fiction on the Kindle store. I'm a HUGE fan of the Kindle, and mine has been glued to my hand since I bought it a few months ago.
A newly edited version of Half a Person, with a swank new cover is available for $1.50. This is a short story that ran on my blog way back when, but it's changed substantially since then. It's about a man who wakes up with a strange illness that slowly drives him and his wife insane. It's been called very 'Richard Matheson-y,' which is about the highest praise I could hope for.
You can check it out here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002G9TWFM?tag=joshuahalefia-20&camp=0&creative=0&linkCode=as4&creativeASIN=B002G9TWFM&adid=09NWW5937Y6RBT8GZYYB&
If the reaction is good, (hell, even if it isn't) I'm going to try to do a couple of short stories a month on the site, hopefully building towards some kind of print collection of all of them down the road.
More in the coming weeks as I race ever forward to Comic-Con.
See you on the other side,
j.

MAGGIE, JIGGS AND BRINGING UP FATHER -- THEY’RE BACK AND THEY’RE NUTS!
NBM revives the rare, early years of the classic comic strip in an archival collection essential for every library
Just now arriving in stores. GEORGE MCMANUS’ BRINGING UP FATHER is the third and latest in NBM Publishing’s FOREVER NUTS series of classic screwball strips, after the well-received MUTT & JEFF and HAPPY HOOLIGAN. One of the great creations in humor, character, and cartoon art, BRINGING UP FATHER became the 20th century’s second longest running strip, but it was more than that.
BRINGING UP FATHER began in 1913, when 28-year-old cartoonist McManus started drawing the adventures of Jiggs and Maggie, a lower-class couple who came into money. “While the snobbish Maggie and beautiful daughter Nora . . . constantly try to ‘bring up’ Father to his new social position,” comics expert Clark Holloway has said, “Jiggs can think of nothing finer than sitting down at Dinty Moore's restaurant to finish off several dishes of corned beef and cabbage, followed by a night out with the boys from the old neighborhood. The clash of wills that ensued often resulted in flying rolling-pins, smashed crockery, and broken vases, all aimed in the general direction of Jiggs's skull.“
In BRINGING UP FATHER, the daily comic strip left its rough and quirky origins to take a clean, carefully designed turn. From the scratchy, funky look of the strip’s birth to a style that lovingly rendered Maggie’s latest fashions and the décor behind them, McManus and his increasingly smooth line reveled in art deco and rococo.
FOREVER NUTS’ collection presents all the dailies of the classic strip’s first two years, many of which have not been reprinted since they first appeared nearly a century ago. “The strips have been meticulously restored,” NBM Publishing chief Terry Nantier says in the company’s blog. “It looks gorgeous.”
Comic-strip expert Jeffrey Lindenblatt is the FOREVER NUTS series’ editor. For more than 15 years, Lindenblatt has been reprinting classic comic strips in his magazines The Missing Years (featuring comics that have not been reprinted in decades) and Strip Adventure.
Lindenblatt and Nantier have assembled quite a team for BRINGING UP FATHER. Comic-strip expert Bill Blackward contributes the book’s forward, and cartoonist R.C. Harvey provides an introduction that “gives us all we could want to know about McManus and this seminal strip,” says Nantier. Comics historian Allen Holtz of the website Stripper’s Guide has helped to clean up the old strips and delivers “quite a few annotations/footnotes at the end of the book that explain references in the strips,” Nantier says.
NBM Publishing is no stranger to great comic-strip reprints. The company was the first publisher to issue complete runs of comic-strip classics, starting with Milton Caniff’s Terry and the Pirates in 1983.
GEORGE MCMANUS’ BRINGING UP FATHER is a 192-page jacketed hardcover, with black-and-white interior art, 11 x 8 1/2 inches, at a cover price of $24.95; the ISBN is 978-1-56163-556-6.

About “The Prisoner”
“The Prisoner” tells the story of a man, “Six” (Caviezel), who wakes up to find himself inexplicably trapped in a mysterious and surreal place, The Village, with no memory of how he arrived. As he frantically explores his new environment, he discovers that Village residents are identified by number, have no memory of any prior existence, and are under constant surveillance. The Village is controlled by one man - the sinister and charismatic “Two” (Ian McKellen). Throughout the series, “Six” and “Two” are locked in a battle of wits, as “Six” challenges the oppressive nature of The Village and struggles to learn the truth behind it.
“The Prisoner” is AMC’s second original mini-series and combines a wide range of genres, including espionage, thriller and sci-fi, into a unique and compelling drama. The six part mini-series will reflect the same key elements of paranoia, surveillance, liberty, and socio-political commentary seen in McGoohan’s enigmatic original.
AMC co-produced “The Prisoner” with UK producer Granada and ITV. Granada International will distribute the series worldwide. Produced by Michelle Buck and Damien Timmer of Granada, the new series is written by Bill Gallagher and directed by Nick Hurran (It’s a Boy Girl Thing, Little Black Book).

Viper Comics is excited to announce The Viper Comics Talent Search ‘09!
Are you itching to break into comics? Well don’t just sit there dreaming, get working! Viper Comics is looking for Artists AND Writers.
That’s right. Even writers. Now’s your chance to show those pencil-jockeys where the real talent in comics is.
This year we’re excited to open our search for up and coming comic talent at Comic-Con International in San Diego, California July 22nd - 27th.
GUIDELINES FOR ARTISTS
Simple. Download the sample script “Blood” from http://www.vipercomics.com/uploads/promo/Blood.pdf. You should feel free to use the panel arrangement of the script as rigidly or loosely as you want. This is your chance to show us what you can do. There’s a lot of flexibility in the script for you to show your talents, even down to what the central character looks like.
GUIDELINES FOR WRITERS
First of all, DO NOT write something original. Let’s repeat that to make sure it’s completely understood. Please do not bring us your original ideas or project proposals! Viper Comics does not accept unsolicited submissions, except at conventions and only as leave-behind material.
In order to have your writing accepted it must:
be a self-contain story that runs no more than 5 (FIVE) comic-pages.
be about an existing character in the comic book world.
be presented in something resembling a professional comic book script.
make sure you include ALL your contact information on your submission.
Both Artists and Writers should note, we will ONLY consider ONE entry per person. So make sure it’s your very best work and make sure you include ALL your contact information on your submission.
At San Diego, you can drop off a script or art at the Viper Booth #1903 ANY TIME before NOON on any day of the Convention.
CAN’T MAKE THE CONVENTION?
No problem. You can send a digital copy of your script or sample art to contest09@vipercomics.com. You can do that ANYTIME up until 5pm Sunday 27th July 2009 (closing time for the San Diego Comic Convention).
PLEASE NOTE: As long as you provide a valid email address we will reply to EVERY entry. If you impress us and we like what we see, you’ll be added to the roster of talent we’re compiling for some very exciting projects coming over the following year. Seriously impress us and you’ll get your own Web Comic hosted on the Viper Comics Website and if the project is successful, see the same comic in print. If you don’t make the cut this year it doesn’t mean you can’t try again next time.
TIPS
Artists and Writers: Follow the Guidelines. Don’t follow them and we simply won’t look at your work.
Writers: If you’re unsure what a comic script looks like, check out the sample available for Artists.
Artists: Use the script as a guide. We know that layout will work, so feel free to follow it and just be creative with the panel content, but if you think you can do a better layout, show us what you got.
Writers: Just because you only have five pages, don’t think you can’t tell a story with a beginning, middle and an end. You just need to be creative.
Artists and Writers: Remember that pacing is important, when you’re writing a script, or going off script you still need that pacing.
Writers: Don’t compensate for a lack of comic pages by writing each page with 30 panels.
FINAL WORDS
Remember to include contact information and save the original pitches for someone at the Viper Booth. And DON’T give us the ONLY COPY of your work - a good quality copy is all we need. Good luck and have fun with this. Viper Comics is looking forward to discovering some awesome new talent.

Hi, everybody --
I want to start by thanking everybody for all your support so far - thanks to you talking about the book, reviewing and recommending it, taking the time to talk to Alex and I, and linking to our various pages, we've managed to build a ton of buzz for the release of Awakening Volume One. Our debut copies sold out in the first two days of Wizard World Philly and we're looking for a repeat performance at SDCC in a few weeks, though hopefully we'll make it through more than two days! While there's been an unfortunate shipping delay, I can't stress enough that the book is printed (obviously since we sold out last weekend!) and is en route as I type this. It'll be in stores no later than July 29th, though hopefully sooner. We've waited a year for this so I hope you'll all hang on for just a few weeks more...
To keep the momentum strong and keep appetites whet, we've put together an exciting trailer for the book! The trailer is now available on YouTube, complete with embed code, here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qJQB68NkP0 - or, if you'd prefer to host the file yourself, it's available for download here - http://www.sendspace.com/file/htf6ew - And for those who dig the book, a quick stop at their LCS or bookstore to reserve a copy or a click online at Amazon.com - http://www.amazon.com/Awakening-One-Nick-Tapalansky/dp/1932386483/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1246336312&sr=8-1 - (still with a discount!) to pre-order is all that stands between them and their copy of the first volume of our existential horror and zombie noir tale.
Alex, Thomas, and I hope you'll post this up to let people know we're coming, and sooner rather than later. Your support has been invaluable and we can't stress enough how much we appreciate it. Just a few more weeks, guys - then the countdown to Volume Two begins...
You've been warned... :)

Nick

Terminal Press adds a unique entry to their catalog with "Top of the Heap"
Long Beach, NY -- June 30, 2009 - Terminal Press has released their newest
title, "Top of the Heap," and once again delivers an unexpected and original
twist on what a comic can be.
A circus train crashes in the desert. The animals are on their own. The sun
is hot. Food is scarce. This is "Top of the Heap."
Writer and artist Keith McCleary's latest book puts a new spin on the
wilderness survival story, as a troupe of abandoned circus animals struggle
on their own in a harsh and unforgiving wasteland. Existing somewhere
between graphic novel, picture book, Lord of the Flies and prose poetry,
"Top of the Heap" uses lush color schemes and elegant language to weave a
haunting narrative with an ending that leaves readers to draw their own
conclusions.
Literary and cinematic, bleak and hopeful - "Top of the Heap" is an
illustrated book for adults interested in broadening their definition of the
graphic novel, as well as younger readers looking for a picture book with a
little extra meat on its bones.
"Top of the Heap" is a 56 page Prestige Format, Full-Color Graphic Novel,
written and illustrated by Keith McCleary (Killing Tree Quarterly, Deep
Throat, Exodus: Death Begets Death.).
"Top of the Heap" is available at
http://www.terminalpress.com/top-of-the-heap.html along with a preview of
the book. The Limited Edition print run will only be available through
terminalpress.com and Terminal Press' convention appearances.

PRESS RELEASE - JEFF PARKER AND STEVE LIEBER GO UNDERGROUND WITH IMAGE COMICS THIS SEPTEMBER!
The artist of WHITEOUT and writer of AGENTS OF ATLAS team up for the four issue mini-series, UNDERGROUND!
25 June 2009 (Berkeley, CA) - As Warner Brothers gears up to release WHITEOUT, its Eisner-winning artist Steve Lieber returns to the adventure genre with a new thriller from Image Comics, pairing with acclaimed AGENTS OF ATLAS and EXILES writer Jeff Parker on the September shipping UNDERGROUND!
“UNDERGROUND is a fast, tough story about people who have been pushed into tight corners — both ethical and literal,” Parker said. “None of them knew they were about to be caught up in a life or death struggle, it’s a situation that has spiraled out of control. I’ve known Steve Lieber for years and he’s the best at this. No one can put the real world on the comics page the way he does. He draws real people and puts them in real danger.”
In UNDERGROUND, Park Ranger and avid caver Wesley Fischer is on a one-woman mission to stop Stillwater Cave from being turned into a tourist trap, but public opinion is not on her side. When locals begin blasting in the cave, Wes and a fellow ranger investigate – and a confrontation spirals into a deadly chase deep under the Kentucky mountains!
Lieber added, “We knew Image was the right publisher for UNDERGROUND as we like how they’ve expanded the comics audience with titles like THE WALKING DEAD and now VIKING. We want to continue pushing the reading public with UNDERGROUND.”
UNDERGROUND #1 (JUL090341), a 32-page full color comic book for $3.50, will be in stores September 23rd, 2009. For more information, please see http://www.undergroundthecomic.com.

G4 AND LUCASFILM PRESENT THE FIRST-EVER
TELEVISED PANEL IN SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON HISTORY
Star Wars™ Comic-Con Spectacular Will Feature Exclusive Footage
and Exciting Announcements from the LIVE Lucasfilm Presentation
Hosted by G4’s Olivia Munn and Kevin Pereira, the Two-Hour Special
Will Premiere on G4 Saturday, July 25 at 2pm ET/PT
LOS ANGELES – June 24, 2009 — Lucasfilm Ltd. and G4 are joining forces for a milestone in San Diego Comic-Con International’s 40-year history – the first-ever, exclusive television broadcast of a presentation from the massive pop culture convention. The Star Wars Spectacular! will air Saturday July 25th at 2:00pm ET/PT only on G4, and will feature never-before-seen footage, breaking news, surprise announcements, guest stars and more. In addition, G4 will present three hours of live coverage from the Comic-Con floor, beginning at 4:00pm ET/PT.
Traditionally, details surrounding Lucasfilm’s primary panel presentation are closely guarded secrets, with only 6,500 lucky on-site fans allowed access to the wealth of coveted information from a galaxy far, far away. But this year, G4 – the network that delivers all of the latest and greatest news on comic books, games, technology and pop culture – is offering TV viewers the one-of-a-kind opportunity to share the excitement with an exclusive broadcast of the panel. G4’s Attack of the Show hosts Kevin Pereira and Olivia Munn will join Lucasfilm’s Steve Sansweet and a galaxy of guests from Star Wars: The Clone Wars and beyond – including supervising director Dave Filoni, and voice talent from the show – to provide an insider look at the Star Wars universe, with never-before-seen footage and a LIVE table read of an exclusive new Clone Wars script.
In addition, fans are invited to participate in the panel itself by submitting Clone Wars questions through a special G4 micro-site. Questions will be answered during the live presentation by Dave Filoni and other Clone Wars creatives!
2009’s Comic-Con International also marks another Lucasfilm milestone – the launch of the all-new Star Wars Stories Project. Fans of the Saga will have the unique opportunity to become a part of the Star Wars universe by contributing to Lucasfilm’s own historical archive. Soliciting movie memories and nostalgia, the Star Wars Stories Project invites fans to share their own tales of fandom through video testimonials. In addition to online submissions, fans will have the opportunity to record their stories at Lucasfilm’s pavilion on the Comic-Con floor.
Fans are invited to upload their fan stories at http://g4tv.com/comiccon

PRESS RELEASE – SILVERLINE BOOKS DEBUTS TWO NEW CHILDREN’S GRAPHIC NOVELS, THE LAVA IS A FLOOR AND TIMOTHY & THE TRANSGALACTIC TOWEL, THIS AUGUST!
Silverline Books expands line of children’s graphic novels with THE LAVA IS A FLOOR and TIMOTHY & THE TRANSGALACTIC TOWEL!
22 June 2009 (Berkeley, CA) – This August Silverline Books, the children’s graphic novel imprint from Image Comics, debuts two all-new titles showcasing the human side of two very fantastic situations, THE LAVA IS A FLOOR by writer Justin Shady with artist Jeremy R. Scott and TIMOTHY & THE TRANSGALACTIC TOWEL by writer Michael Bullock with artist Michael Metcalf!
"I was immediately impressed with the way THE LAVA IS A FLOOR and TIMOTHY & THE TRANSGALACTIC TOWEL both appeal to a child’s sense of humor, while the vivid imagery captures the imaginations of new and reluctant readers alike, " Silverline Publisher Jim Valentino said. “Both books give unique twists on the everyday experiences of children, making them enjoyable for both kids and their parents.”
Silverline Books continues its tradition of bridging the gap between comics and children’s story books for a new generation of fans with THE LAVA IS A FLOOR and TIMOTHY AND THE TRANSGALACTIC TOWEL. THE LAVA IS A FLOOR is the story of a brother and sister troubled by a typical childhood dillema; they’re bored. Although these are not your typical sibling duo--they’re monsters living in the crater of a volcano! Using their imaginations they pretend to be the strangest creatures they can think of: humans! In TIMOTHY AND THE TRANSGALACTIC TOWEL, a young boy named Timothy soon finds out that with a seemingly normal beach towel he can transport himself to other worlds and times, including into the midst of an inter-galactic war!
THE LAVA IS A FLOOR (JUN090325), a 32-page full color hard cover book for $12.99, will be in stores August 5, 2009. TIMOTHY AND THE TRANSGALACTIC TOWEL (JUN090327), a 112-page full color book $16.99, will be in stores August 26, 2009. For more information please see http://www.silverlinebooks.com.

Hey gang,
This week sees the release of the massive Outlaw Territory western anthology from Image Comics. I was honored to be a part of this big ol' book put together by the mighty Michael Woods. You can find out more about the book at the blog located here: http://outlawterritoryanthology.blogspot.com/
I'm in some pretty damn respectable company, and I'm immensely proud of how my story (with amazing art by Christie Tseng) turned out.
In other news, Noel and I will have a huge announcement about our next book come Comic-Con next month, as well as hopefully some news about Elk's Run's next iteration.
As always, feel free to follow me at my blog, on Facebook, or on Twitter for more up to date and less newsworthy bites. Addresses below.

ESSENTIAL NEW PHOTO BOOK FROM
DARK HORSE DOCUMENTS THE LIFE AND CAREER OF A PUNK ROCK LEGEND
EERIE VON’S MISERY OBSCURA FEATURES OVER 250 PHOTOS, CHRONICLING A CAREER OF OVER 20 YEARS
JUNE 22, MILWAUKIE, OR–From the deepest depths of punk rock’s 1970s primordial wastelands, through the stygian goth swamps of the 1980s, and on into the bloodstained arenas of 1990s heavy metal, Eerie Von witnessed it all.
Beginning as the unofficial photographer for punk legends the Misfits and later taking charge of the bass guitar as a founding member of underground pioneers Samhain and metal gods Danzig, the evil eye of Eerie’s camera captured the dark heart of rock’s most vital and bleeding-edge period, a time when rock and roll was not only dangerous, but downright menacing. Eerie Von’s Misery Obscura offers firsthand insight into everything from the Misfits’ humble beginnings in Lodi, New Jersey, to the heights of Danzig’s stadium-rock glory alongside metal superstars Metallica.
“I’ve been planning this book for twenty years,” Eerie Von stated. “The fans have been begging for it almost as long. It's been a great ride, and I’m glad to be able to share some of it with those who were there, and those who wish they were.”
Misery Obscura is not only an essential visual document of music history; but Eerie’s scrapbook-style stories of triumph and damnation bring to life an era the likes of which will never again be seen. Featuring layout and design by Tom Bejgrowicz, who conceived and executed the release of the infamous Misfits “Coffin Box,” Eerie Von’s Misery Obscura: The Photography of Eerie Von (1981-2009) arrives on shelves this October, just in time for Halloween!

In past years the Oni Press Talent Search has been a terrific success, and this year we’re excited to continue our search for up and coming artists at Comic-Con International in San Diego, California July 22nd - 27th, and through the mail until August 15th.
THE GUIDELINES
In order to have your portfolio reviewed, you must illustrate at least one of the below stories. Realizing that different artists are geared towards different subject matter, three professional writers have each developed a five-page script, using a different genre and showcasing a different personal scripting style.
Supernatural comedy titled Our Hero by Philip Gelatt, writer of Labor Days, and Indiana Jones Adventures.
http://www.onipress.com/talent_search_2009/our_hero_by_Philip_Gelatt.pdf
Espionage thriller titled Cold City by Antony Johnson, writer of Wasteland and the Dead Space video game series.
http://www.onipress.com/talent_search_2009/cold_city_by_Antony_Johnston.pdf
Western drama titled Medicine Show by Frank Beaton, writer of various short stories appearing in This is a Souvenir, Outlaw Territory, 24/Seven and others.
http://www.onipress.com/talent_search_2009/medicine_show_by_Frank_Beaton.pdf
At San Diego Comic-Con we will be conducting the Oni Press Talent Search in lieu of portfolio reviews. In order to guarantee a portfolio review appointment with an Oni editor during regular convention hours you will need to illustrate one or more of the three scripts provided. In addition to presenting the original art at the review session, interested parties must also bring with them 8 ½”x11″ photocopies of both penciled art and inked art for Oni Press to keep as reference. Each photocopied page should include the artist’s name, phone number, and e-mail address. The samples are preferred in a manila envelope that also includes the artist’s name and contact information in the address line.
Not attending Comic-Con? While Oni Press DOES NOT accept unsolicited submissions, we will accept Oni Press Talent Search submissions postmarked before August 15th, 2009 and mailed to:
