MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR AUCTION OF THE WORLD'S LARGEST COLLECTION OF ORIGINAL VINTAGE GLAMOUR PHOTOGRAPHY

The Michael H. Epstein and Scott E. Schwimer Collection, Representing Tens of Thousands of Vintage And Contemporary Fine Art Pieces By The World's Most Legendary Photographers, Set To Hit The Auction Block March 25-27, 2010

Calabasas, CA - George Hurrell's iconic portrait of Jean Harlow on a white bearskin rug created for Vanity Fair magazine now spearheads the largest auction of Glamour Photography in art history. The original camera negative, as well as a custom print of this incomparable photograph is regarded as Hurrell's most important portrait and is estimated to sell for well over $20,000. The multi-million dollar Michael H. Epstein and Scott E. Schwimer collection, which contains tens of thousands of the best examples of Hollywood fine art, will be auctioned by Profiles in History March 25-27, 2010. Worldwide bids can be placed either in person, via mail, phone, fax or live on the Internet by visiting HYPERLINK "http://www.profilesinhistory.com" www.profilesinhistory.com or HYPERLINK "http://www.liveauctioneers.com" www.liveauctioneers.com.

The Michael H. Epstein and Scott E. Schwimer collection is recognized as the world's largest collection of George Hurrell and includes over 1,000 original vintage photographs as well as 500 camera negatives. Featured are dozens of the most valuable 8 x 10 camera negatives from Hurrell's career. Included is the bearskin rug portrait of Ann Sheridan as well as the negatives used for the Hurrell Portfolios together with those of Gary Cooper, Bette Davis, Marlene Dietrich, Rita Hayworth, Veronica Lake, and Johnny Weissmuller from Tarzan, which is the most symbolic ever taken of a male subject in Hollywood.

The sequence of photographic lots include most of the heralded stars of Hollywood's golden age, including Joan Crawford, Clark Gable, Greta Garbo, Jean Harlow, and Norma Shearer. Incorporated are two custom photographs of Ramon Novarro taken in 1929 from Hurrell's first sitting with a Hollywood subject.

In addition to the Glamour photography collection, there are many significant master prints by Richard Avedon, Robert Mapplethorpe, Man Ray, Helmut Newton, Herb Ritz, Cindy Sherman, Julius Schulman, Jock Sturges, Howard Zieff and Edward Steichen. Moreover, the collection contains an incomparable assemblage of Len Prince and Mel Roberts works as well as fine art by Andy Warhol, Richard Duardo, Keith Haring, Robert Indiana, Roy Lichtenstein, Beatrice Wood and numerous others.

Epstein and Schwimer recently decided to open up their vaults and for the first time will be selling their collected photographic and fine art masterpieces to benefit many of the charitable organizations they passionately support, primarily the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center on which Epstein served as board member for 7 years.

Epstein comments, "It's time for Scott and me to share the fruits of our 25-year collection with the rest of the world. We want others to enjoy and embrace the most rewarding field of collecting with which we can ever imagine being involved." Epstein continues, "There is no better organization than Profiles in History to entrust our collection. I am certain that Scott and I will be back collecting once this auction is over."

Also included in the auction will be several hundred photographs and camera negatives from Hurrell's contemporaries in Hollywood, featuring a comprehensive sequence from Clarence Sinclair Bull, who was Hurrell's contemporary and stylistic rival at M-G-M. Included are dozens of master images from Bull's most important subject, Greta Garbo. There are dozens of rare prints of some of the most important Hollywood subjects including a Louise Brooks from 1925 before she signed with Paramount, Marlene Dietrich by Edward Steichen, and unseen prints of a luminous teenaged Marilyn Monroe.

Len Prince is one of the few master photographers utilizing the large-format 8 x 10 view camera and detailed lighting in the fashion of Hurrell, Bull and Richard Avedon during their peak years. Prince rarely uses the digital format and prefers the "old school" refinement of shadows and highlights achieved by the rigorous demands of 8 x10 view cameras; he is recognized as one of the foremost glamour photographers. Among his celebrated subjects are some of the world's most beautiful women including his most recent muse, Jessie Mann, daughter of acclaimed photographer, Sally Mann. Drew Barrymore, Kirsten Dunst, Teri Hatcher, Kelly Klein and Sarah Jessica Parker are also featured. One of the most comprehensive collections of Prince's work ever to be offered at auction, Epstein and Schwimer's personal collection includes many custom prints created for them by Len and Charlie Griffin. Prince's prints are almost all in expensive and archival permanent selenium toned papers, which produce rich deep tones.

The Harry Langdon archive includes the life work of a master photographer from the large-format fashion work of the 1960's to the present. He has photographed virtually every Hollywood celebrity from the magical Angelina Jolie at 15, to Ann-Margret, Halle Berry, Cher and Diana Ross at their most memorable. Also included, a young George Clooney, Will Smith, Rock Hudson and Arnold Schwarzenegger, all during their prime. Langdon's impeccably high standard and style is widely recognized throughout the world. Included in the sale of this vast archive covering forty years of work in black-and-white and lush color includes approximately 50,000 vintage prints, black-and-white and color negatives and transparencies, as well as full copyrights.

The complete Mel Roberts archive will be also sold intact including several thousand vintage prints with many unpublished, black and white negatives and color transparencies, as well as his personal video collection. All reproduction rights and copyrights for his name and photographs will also be part of this archive. First published in a physique magazine in the early 1960's, Roberts took over 50,000 photographs of nearly 200 male models, many of them friends and lovers. They were not the perfectly bodied men common in the physique magazines of the time but tanned in the California sun and casually posed by the pool or beach. In 2003, The New Yorker described his "witty Technicolor pictures" as "capturing all the giddy delights of being young during summertime..." Mel Roberts' photographs are included in many notable collections in Hollywood.

Weekly World News Comic Series Launches Tomorrow
First-ever comic series for fan-favorite tabloid characters

In stores Wednesday, January 13th

San Diego, CA (January 12, 2010) – Bat Boy and the other bizarre denizens of the Weekly World News universe storm comic stores starting tomorrow! Celebrating the tabloid’s 30th anniversary in 2010, the colorful characters of Weekly World News are making their comic debut with IDW’s four-issue miniseries. Written by IDW’s Publisher/Editor-in-Chief and WWN fanatic Chris Ryall, with art by Alan Robinson, Weekly World News revives the tabloid's best and sees them band together to take on, among other things, the world-destroying threat of Chaos Cloud. Each issue will also feature original articles from the original Weekly World News, and a variant cover that pays insane “tribute” to a classic image.

“I feel like I’ve been obsessing over Bat Boy for at least a decade, so it’s great to be able to tell people that ‘obsession’ was actually all just ‘research’ for this comic,” said Chris Ryall. “I’m happy to finally get the comic about that beloved bat-eared freak and his even more colorful friends into peoples’ hands. Hopefully they enjoy reading it as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it.”

Weekly World News #1 kicks off this daring series with a Joe Corroney cover, featuring a version of Bat Boy inspired by Alex Ross’s painted Barack Obama pose. As an added bonus, issue #1 will feature some of the classic Bat Boy newspaper strips by the great Peter Bagge.

Beginning with issue #1, “The Irredemption of Ed Anger,” the series unites the beloved Bat Boy with Ph.D. Ape (simian psychologist to the stars), UFO Alien (presidential-predicting pundit from the stars), Manigator (half-man/half-gator good ol’ boy), Lemmie (the Lake Erie Monster) as they battle Chaos Cloud (unpredictable weather front with the face of François Mitterand). Caught in the middle of all of this is the far-right-wing columnist Ed Anger (“pave the Rain Forest!”), who thinks inhuman freaks have as much place in America as liberals, female voters and foreign beer. Along the way, the series pays tribute to other comics and numerous other pop-culture visuals and references (so many that Ryall will be offering annotations in the back of each issue, too).

“Now in addition to enjoying our product online, in tabloid form, and as a musical, our legion of fans will have an opportunity to see WWN’s 100 character library come alive in comic book form. Never before has this group of Weekly World News freaks, I mean characters, banded together for a common cause. The results make for an unforgettable story.” said Neil McGinness, CEO Weekly World News. “IDW’s first installment brings the most popular characters in the Weekly World News’ stable, and its masthead icon, to life in comic form for the first time.”

The Weekly World News, which carried the tagline “The World’s Only Reliable News” and spent years living up to that description, launched in 1979 as a supermarket tabloid focused on sensational stories. The brand’s website www.weeklyworldnews.com is a leading entertainment news website.

Weekly World News #1 (of 4), a 32-page, $3.99 comic book, debuts on January 13, 2010. Diamond order code NOV09 0841.

THE LAST DAYS OF AMERICAN CRIME #1 SELLS OUT

January 7th, Los Angeles - Radical Publishing is proud to announce that the first printing of fan-favorite writer Rick Remender’s criminal masterpiece The Last Days of American Crime #1 has sold out at the distributor level, with very few copies remaining at a select number of comic and book stores across the country. The Last Days of American Crime is Radical’s newest release featuring Radical’s “Bigger Books! Bigger Value!” initiative of 64-page books at a $4.99 price point. Hurry while you can and join the heist of the century!

Illustrated by the immensely talented Greg Tocchini (Marvel 1602: New World), The Last Days of American Crime takes readers into the world of Graham Bricke, a petty crook never quite able to reach the upper echelon of career criminals. When the American government installs a new currency system using digital charge cards, Graham puts together a grand scheme to steal one of the charging stations to finally hit the big time and live like a king for the rest of his life. As he assembles his team and finalizes his plans, the media leaks news of the government’s intention to broadcast a signal making it impossible for anyone to knowingly commit unlawful acts…in less than two weeks. Now, Graham and his team have a ticking clock to turn the heist of a lifetime into the final crime in the history of America.

“…writers must perform a magic act in order to make the reader believe he is reading something new. Well, someone get Rick Remender a top hat and a wand because he accomplishes it in the down and dirty Last Days of American Crime. By infusing a classic noir heist with the tension of modern American politics, Remender gives us a great opening to a comic series – perhaps even on the level of Criminal or 100 Bullets.” Andy Bentley, IGN Comics

“We’re incredibly proud of the response to Rick’s work, both critically and on the retailer and fan level,” said Radical President and Publisher Barry Levine. “The Last Days of American Crime is exactly the kind of project we strive for at Radical – high-concept, engaging and incredibly well-written. As we move into the New Year, we are always appreciative and thankful for the continued support of our distributors, the retailers and our fans.”

Rick Remender adds, "Everyone involved in the project is extremely excited and it shows in the final product. Greg's work in particular, it's just nearly unparalleled, he's been killing himself to make this series special and it's wonderful to see it paying off."

Donations will be accepted from January 11th through January 24th. Fans should visit http://comicalliance.weebly.com/ on that day to donate and get this once in a lifetime image. Artists include Scott Sava (The Dreamland Chronicles), Sara Ellerton (The Phoenix Requiem), fundraising organizer Lora Innes (The Dreamer) and an array of indy comic talent!

Innes organized the endeavor after being particularly moved at a seminar on the issue. Innes states “There are currently 27 million enslaved people worldwide- more than double the number of enslaved Africans during the trans-Atlantic slave trade. UNICEF estimates that 1.2 million children every year are sold into slavery, most of it sexual. The US Department of Justice estimates 16,000 victims of human trafficking are brought into the United States every year. With this many people being affected I just couldn’t sit there and not do something.”

100% of donations are being split between Love 146 (www.love146.org) and Grace Haven House (www.gracehavenhouse.org). The image will be available at screen resolution for digital wallpaper use only. To see a list of artists participating go to http://comicalliance.weebly.com/the-people.html. Hey there sweets:

I've been working like a fiend down here in my new São Paulo studio, so this is just an affectionate quickie to tell you that my new comic series RED LIGHT PROPERTIES launches online today on Tor.com. It's a tropical-horror series about a small real-estate firm on Miami Beach that cleans and sells "previously-haunted homes" to people who've lost their houses to foreclosure.

I've changed up webcomics a bit in the way the pages are presented, and I've upgraded my process to using Maya to create/light virtual environments for my characters to inhabit, so there's a lot of sexy-new here for you to enjoy.

All my projects since 2001 have been steps toward getting *this* series done right, and I'm thrilled to announce that my baby is finally born, weighing 16 color pages with another 8 coming to you every Tuesday for the next six months, free of charge. There will be no "continued in the print version" at the end, either; we're giving the entire novel away on Tor.com.

I really do hope you come along for the ride... It's my favorite work thing I've done thus far:

CRIME NOIR WITH BITE
Jonathan Ross and Tommy Lee Edwards Mark Their Turf at Image in April!

Berkeley, CA -- 6 January, 2010 -- British television and radio personality Jonathan Ross makes his comics writing debut at Image Comics this April with TURF, an all-new four-issue miniseries co-created and illustrated by Marvel 1985's Tommy Lee Edwards. Set in 1920s New York, TURF offers a twist on the hard boiled crime thriller, adding vampires and aliens to the traditional mix of booze, broads and bullets.

"As anyone who has seen Friday Night with Jonathan Ross and my documentaries like Searching for Steve Ditko knows, working on my own comic has long been a dream of mine," Ross explained. "Collaborating with a talent of Tommy's caliber has made the whole experience that much sweeter, and we're looking forward to introducing the comics reading public to our mad war between gangsters and vampires – and the extraterrestrial who will either save or destroy them all."

TURF begins in Prohibition-era New York as a vengeful gang war erupts between booze-smuggling mobsters and the blood thirsty Dragonmir Family. As an ancient prophecy unfolds amidst the maelstrom of violence, the entire city is up for grabs and it's anyone's guess who will come out on top. The only glimmer of hope is an unlikely alliance between tough guy Eddie Falco and a stranger from another world.

"I've been looking forward to this April since Jonathan and Tommy first pitched TURF to me over breakfast in San Diego last summer!" said Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson. "Jonathan really has come up with a fantastic story and we couldn't be prouder to be publishing it through Image. Watching Tommy bring his vision to life has been one of the best parts of my job over the past few months and I can't wait for everyone to finally see the finished product!"

Added Edwards, "Having illustrated some of pop culture's biggest icons like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter and James Bond, it's incredibly liberating to be able to create a whole new world with Jonathan. TURF doesn't look or read like anything I've worked on in the past, and I believe fans on the lookout for something new and different are going to be very happy this April."

TURF #1, a 32-page full color comic book with a cover price of $2.99, will be available for order in the February issue of Previews and will go on sale Arpil 7.

Gyakushu! Volume 1Hi!

I'm Dan Hipp, and I'll be posting my TOKYOPOP graphic novel revenge series on the blog www.thethiefisdead.blogspot.com next Monday, January 11 for FREE.

The GYAKUSHU! series debuted in 2007, with Volume One, and followed the next year with Volume Two. Volume Three, the final Volume, was caught up in the re-structuring of TOKYOPOP in mid 2008, and was delayed. TOKYOPOP has given me permission to post the first two volumes online, along with the first seventy-five pages of Volume Three (the final Volume). That's 475 of the full 600 pages of the series for free. The rest are to be posted at a time determined by myself and Tokyopop.

If you have any questions, or thoughts, I would be happy to listen. Thank you so much for your time!

ZACK WHEDON BREATHES NEW LIFE INTO TERMINATOR

DARK HORSE ANNOUNCES CREATIVE TEAM ON HIGHLY ANTICIPATED NEW SERIES

NOVEMBER 19TH, MILWAUKIE, OR–In 2029, Kyle Reese will be sent to 1984 to stop a T-800 from killing the mother of the resistance, Sarah Conner. But before his future son will send him back in time, Kyle Reese was simply another survivor in a desolate future.

In a brand-new series, Zack Whedon (Dr. Horrible, Deadwood, Fringe, Rubicon) brings his sharp writing skills to one of the most celebrated sci-fi properties in history to tell the story of a man struggling to live in a world with little food, water, or hope.

Never before has the iconic character from James Cameron’s first Terminator film been explored with such depth and humanity. Readers will have the opportunity to follow Kyle Reese and his closest allies as they face insurmountable odds in a world run by cold, calculating machines bent on destroying the last memory of what it means to be a human being.

In a world wrought with Hunter Killer Drones, T-600s, T-800s, H-K’s and a host of other terrifying technology, a small band of friends must find a way to keep the Resistance breathing amidst an eviscerated landscape devoid of nearly all life. Kyle Reese, the father of the future, leads these rebels with only the slightest promise of peace and the most basic of mortal codes – never give up.

The two, three-issue arcs will be drawn by Andy MacDonald (NYC Mech, Punisher War Journal) with covers by renowned illustrator Massimo Carnevale (Y: The Last Man).

“It’s an honor to be a part of the on-going Terminator saga, and to have the talents of Andy MacDonald and Massimo Carnevale helping me in bringing this story to life,” said writer Zack Whedon.

The much-anticipated first issue from the dynamic creative team will be released from Dark Horse Comics in March 2010.

Dark Horse’s successful Termintor Omnibus Vol. 1 & 2 are currently available at a retail price of $24.95.

ONE MODEL NATION

Controversial political band's historic story uncovered

Graphics by famed Street Angel illustrator Jim Rugg

"a captivating graphic novel..." says Fanboy.com

On the 20th anniversary year of the fall of the Berlin Wall, One Model Nation (www.onemodelnation.com), the first cinematic, graphic novel of its kind, by Donovan Leitch (CampFreddy) and C. Allbritton Taylor (The Dandy Warhols), will be released by Image Comics (www.imagecomics.com) on Wednesday, December 2, 2009, in book and comic stores nationwide. In addition to the book, One Model Nation's soundtrack, another first for a graphic novel, will be released over time on the website www.onemodelnation.com.

Donovan Leitch, C. Allbritton Taylor and Street Angel illustrator Jim Rugg piece together the complete story of the political art-noise band One Model Nation, revealing how they were inadvertently forced to become the face of a revolution that revitalized a country, with actual historic events of the the final dark days of the Baader-Meinhof Gang and the band's mysterious disappearance a few months later.

The story follows four young musicians in Berlin, Germany in 1977, focused on their craft and determination to take their music to the masses while the country is still shattered from the devastation of war and the harsh realities of communism. The country's youth are fighting back against a repressed nation with their only figurehead for this violent, well dressed revolution is a band, later to be forever lost in time. With cameos from notable international musicians, One Model Nation encompasses the musical influences from an era whose youth just wanted to be heard.

With stunning graphics and Scorsese-esque electricity, One Model Nation captures the arts and politics of an era whose influence can not be measured.

FANTAGRAPHICS BOOKS ANNOUNCES THE ACQUISITION OF STEPHEN DIXON’S WHAT IS ALL THIS?, A COLLECTION OF MODERN FICTION
SEATTLE, WA, NOV. 20, 2009 --- Fantagraphics Books is proud to announce the acquisition of What Is All This?, a 900-page collection of previously uncollected short fiction by two-time National Book Award Nominee (1991, 1995) Stephen Dixon. The collection will be published in May, 2010 and mark the third entry in Fantagraphics burgeoning line of literary fiction, following Alexander Theroux’s Laura Warholic (2007) and Monte Schulz’s This Side of Jordan (2009). Along with Theroux, Dixon is the second National Book Award nominated-author to publish new fiction through Fantagraphics.

“Stephen Dixon is one of the great secret masters — too secret. I return again and again to his stories for writerly inspiration, moral support and comic relief at moments of personal misery, and, several times, in a spirit of outright plagiaristic necessity: borrowing a jumpstart from a few lines of Dixon has been a real problem-solver in my own short fiction. Please read him, you.” — Jonathan Lethem

Dixon is one of the most acclaimed authors of short stories in the history of American letters. He has published previously through acclaimed independent literary presses like McSweeney’s and Melville House, as well as corporate houses like Henry Holt. His work, characterized by mordant humor and a frank attention to human sexuality, has earned him a Guggenheim Fellowship, the American Academy Institute of Arts and Letters Prize for Fiction, the O. Henry Award, and the Pushcart Prize. Fantagraphics Books is proud to present his latest volume of short stories, a massive collection of vintage Dixon, eschewing the modernism and quasi-autobiography of his I-trilogy and instead treating readers to a pared-down, crystalline style more reminiscent of Hemingway.

“Dixon is one of the few writers whose new work I will put everything aside to read, which is to say he is in the company of Alice Munro, Lorrie Moore, and Lydia Davis…. Put aside whatever you're reading, and read him.” — J. Robert Lennon

“This is our third book of prose fiction —after Alex Theroux’s Laura Warholic and Monte Schulz’s This Side of Jordan— and readers may notice that the common denominator among these books is that language itself serves as the animating literary force,” says acquiring editor and Fantagraphics co-publisher Gary Groth. “Dixon’s finely chiseled sentences cut to the quick of people’s lives. None of these stories have been collected in any book; they have appeared in a wide variety of literary journals over almost 40 years and Dixon has entirely rewritten all of them. Dixon admirers will be cheered to learn that these stories comprise a wholly original work.”

Centrally concerning himself with the American condition, Dixon explores in What Is All This? obsessions of body image, the increasingly polarized political landscape, sex —in all its incarnations— and the gloriously pointless minutiae of modern life, from bus rides to tying shoelaces. Using the canvas of his native New York (with one significant exception that affords Dixon the opportunity to create a furiously political fable) he astutely captures the edgy madness that infects the city through the neuroses of his narrators with a style that owes as much to Neo-Reaist cinema as it does to modern literature. What Is All This? will be published in hardcover, designed by Fantagraphics award-winning Art Director Jacob Covey. “Stephen Dixon is one of the few writers who completely challenged, then changed how I think about writing and reading,” says Covey. “He was the first writer I recognized as making Art that was as viscerally relevant as painting or music. Designing a book for someone who was so formative to me is one of the rarest and most intimidating opportunities I can imagine.”

“I have read a lot of Dixon’s writing. If I didn’t like his writing I would not have read so many things of his.” — Tao Lin

Stephen Dixon was born in 1936 in New York City. He graduated from the City College of New York in 1958 and is a former faculty member of Johns Hopkins University. In his early 20s, he worked as a journalist in radio, interviewing such monumental figures as John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, and Nikita Khrushchev. His witty, keenly observed narratives and sharply hewn prose have appeared in every major market magazine from Harper’s to Playboy and have earned him two National Book Award nominations —for his novels Frog and Interstate. He still hammers out his fiction on a vintage typewriter.

Fantagraphics Books ( www.fantagraphics.com ) has been the world’s leading publisher of comics and graphic novels since 1976, with titles by Robert Crumb, Charles M. Schulz, Joe Sacco, Daniel Clowes, Chris Ware and many others. In 2007, the company launched its prose division, beginning with novels by Alexander Theroux (Laura Warholic) and Jules Feiffer (a reissue of the noted artist’s 1963 novel, Harry, the Rat with Women).

IDW Publishing & Dabel Brothers Team Up for

Brigg's Mercy Thompson: Moon Called

Adaptation of first Mercy novel debuts in February 2010

San Diego, CA (November 23, 2009) – Dabel Brothers and IDW Publishing are pleased to announce an agreement to co-publish Patricia Briggs’ Mercy Thompson: Moon Called, a four-issue miniseries adaptation of the best selling author’s new novel, in early 2010.

Moon Called is the first Mercy Thompson novel from New York Times bestselling author Patricia Briggs. The novel introduces Mercedes “Mercy” Thompson, a talented Volkswagen mechanic living in Washington State, who also happens to be a “walker,” a magical being with the power to shift into a coyote at will. Moon Called tells of Mercy and the rest of the paranormal cast in the novels, among them werewolves, vampires, gremlins, and more.

Moon Called is also a direct follow-up to the mega-hit Mercy Thompson comic book series Homecoming, published by Dabel Brothers in 2008-2009. Homecoming, the Mercy Thompson graphic novel that serves as a prequel story to Moon Called, debuted at #1 on The New York Times Bestseller List for Hardcover Graphic Books, and is fourth on Amazon’s bestselling graphic novel list for 2009.

“Moon Called is chock full of great stuff and perfect for the supernatural fanatic who just can't get enough of their creepy beasties in their reading diet!” said IDW’s new senior editor, Bob Schreck.

Mercy Thompson: Moon Called is being written by Derek Ruiz, with art by Clint Hilinski. The first of the four-issue series will be available in February 2010 from IDW, with subsequent issues shipping on a monthly basis thereafter. The graphic novel is scheduled to be published in August 2010 by IDW, and will be distributed by Diamond Books Distributor.

Briggs has written four Mercy Thompson novels to date, the last of which, Bone Crossed, debuted at #3 on the New York Times Fiction Bestseller List, and remained on for weeks after. The next Mercy Thompson novel, Silver Borne, is scheduled for publication in March 2010.

“We’re thrilled to be working with IDW on this project,” says Vice President Les Dabel. “Their track record speaks for itself, and we really feel they’ve been making a lot of smart moves within the industry the last couple years.”

Patricia Briggs’ Mercy Thompson: Moon Called #1 ($3.99, 32 page, full color comic) will be available in stores in February 2010. Diamond order code #DEC09 0886.

DEADLOCKE from Dark Horse mnow in stores

DEADLOCKE is based on the young adult novel Venomous by Chris Krovatin (and is already being adapted for a feature film). Written by Arvid Nelson (of the Rex Mundi series) and illustrated by Nick Stakal (artist on the current Criminal Macabre series, Cell Block 666), DEADLOCKE mixes real life and young adult themes with escapist comic book fantasy, to tell the story of a Manhattan teenager whose world is turned upside down when the dark alter ego who exists in his drawings threatens to take over his life.

About Deadlocke

In modern-day New York City, a ragtag group of rebellious teens throws its annual raucous Weimar bash filled with debauchery, booze, and bloody knuckles. Going for the first time is Locke Vinetti, a newcomer to this band of bored rich kids--a loner who usually prefers to escape into the world of his alter ego comic book creation, Deadlocke. Under the tutelage of the group's charming but unpredictable ringleader Casey, Locke has learned to express his art, and his angst, in ways he never thought possible. As the violent energy of Deadlocke continues to storm up inside of him, Locke must learn to control his newfound strength at the risk of losing Renee, the darkly beautiful girl of his dreams. Determined to prove that Deadlocke's rage will overpower Locke's love, Casey provokes Locke in a brutal rooftop battle where their lives, and their souls, hang in the balance.

Based on the Simon & Schuster young adult novel Venomous by Christopher Krovatin, Deadlocke teams comic writer Arvid Nelson (Rex Mundi, Kull) with Nick Stakal (Criminal Macabre) in a story of a young man coming to terms with his own demons in a search for his true identity.

Second printing of new ongoing TRANSFORMERS comics
available December 2nd

Under license from Hasbro, Inc., the second printing of The TRANSFORMERS #1 will be available in comic stores on December 2nd, featuring a new cover by series artist Don Figueroa.

The first ongoing TRANSFORMERS comic series in five years, The TRANSFORMERS is a must-read for old and new fans. The TRANSFORMERS #1 starts the series off with two huge events – the death of IRONHIDE and subsequent resignation of OPTIMUS PRIME, the heroic leader of the AUTOBOTS.

“Launching an ongoing series based on a world-wide franchise like Hasbro’s TRANSFORMERS brand is not something we take lightly,” said Andy Schmidt, IDW’s TRANSFORMERS editor. “We know we have to make every issue count so that our readers are getting a great read every time and that our retailer partners are assured that they’ve got a product they can sell month after month. And this second printing is evidence that Mike and Don have succeeded at delivering exactly that.”

Hey folks,
The final two chapters are both now available for purchase on your Amazon Kindle. You can download all of em at this link: http://bit.ly/tuG2U

Also, as mentioned previously, you can pre-order the Hard Cover collection of Tumor right now in a couple of different places. On Amazon here: http://bit.ly/VM1QD or, from your local comic shop by printing the order form at http://www.tumorthecomic.com/

The hardcover is clocking in at approximately 225 pages and will contain all eight chapters, an introductory essay by crime maestro (and up and coming Marvel superstar) Duane Swierczynski, a brand new short story about when Frank first met Detective Polish, an extended essay on Frank Armstrong's Los Angeles, a sketch gallery, a reference photos to final art gallery, and a long form interview with me about the book. Plus maybe a few more odds and ends. Best of all? It's only $15!

Now comes the part where I ask for your help. Here's how comics work. If you don't specifically go out of your way to tell your local comic shop owner or even your bookstore owner or manager about the book and that you want to read it, I almost guarantee you it will not get ordered. Independent Books, generally speaking, are too many and too hard to guage for most independent businesses to take a risk, unless they know that it's worth it. So please. Tell your shop owners, talk to your friends, tweet, status update, hell, even jump on Myspace and tell everyone and anyone who may enjoy this book all about it, and, that they can even try it for free online at http://www.tumorthecomic.com.

Thank you as always, this has been a remarkable experiment, and, sales of the Hard Cover pending, a very successful one.

Cheers,

j.
