CAN ARTISTS REALLY STAND THE TEST OF TIME?

Comic Book Artists Compete In Day Long Event

(October 1, 2009, Chicago, IL) A mild mannered comic book retail store will be the setting for a battle of truly epic proportions. Challengers Comics + Conversation, voted Best Comic Book Store in 2009 by Chicago Magazine, will be hosting a 24-hour, 24-Page comic book challenge on Saturday October 3rd, 2009. Fifteen people will be competing to each create a twenty four page comic book in twenty four hours. If enough people complete the endurance test, Challengers will publish a collection of the completed books. Food, drawing surfaces and encouragement are provided for the participants. The store will be open from 11am October 3rd to 11am October 4th. Anyone who would like to come see the mayhem should go to 1845 N. Western Ave, # 2R, Chicago IL 60647.

“It’s certainly going to be an interesting event this year,” quipped Challengers Co- Owner Patrick Brower. “This year we have professionals creating alongside amateurs. Last year 5 artists made it thru all 24 hours but no one was able to complete 24 pages. This time we have accomplished comic professionals Mike Norton (Green Arrow, Booster Gold) and Chris Burnham (X-Men, Nixon’s Pals) competing. Add to that we have some of our own employees participating.” ChallengersComics.com will have a live event blog and podcast, complete with webcam broadcast to let outsiders take a glimpse of the insanity from the safety and comfort of their own homes.
