FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VIZ PICTURES RELEASES LOVE*COM THE MOVIE ON DVD

Romantic High School Comedy Inspired By Award Winning Shojo Manga

San Francisco, CA, February 1, 2008 – VIZ Pictures, an affiliate of VIZ Media, LLC that focuses on Japanese live-action film distribution, has announced the DVD release of the romantic live-action comedy, LOVE*COM THE MOVIE, on February 19, 2008. The release features English subtitles and will be distributed by VIZ Media with an anticipated retail price of $24.98. A dedicated web site, with a trailer, plot summary and other information is viewable at www.lovecomthemovie.com.

Based on the bestselling manga (graphic novel) by Aya Nakahara, LOVE*COM THE MOVIE (short for Lovely Complex) centers on two high school students. Risa Koizumi is the tallest girl in class, and the last thing she wants is the humiliation of standing next to Atsushi Ôtani, the shortest guy. But fate and the whole school have other ideas, and the two find themselves cast as the unwilling stars of a bizarre romantic comedy duo. As their friendship blossoms, so do Risa's feelings toward Ôtani. LOVE*COM examines the often-complicated feelings and comedic moments of the experience of dating people of different heights. A girl, because of his short stature, previously rejected Ôtani and he thinks he looks peculiar with a taller girlfriend. Risa has the opposite problem, already tall and never finding a guy who is taller. These height complexes, and the romance that eventually ensues [ENSUES, not ensures] in spite of them, develop the Lovely Complex that this film is ultimately about
.

LOVE*COM THE MOVIE features several interesting bonus features including a director and cast profile, interviews with lead actors Ema Fujisawa and Teppei Koike, who play Risa and Ôtani, a short film parody called “Hello, Girlfriend,” the original Japanese theatrical trailers, and a rollicking pop music video by Umi Bouzu.

The original LOVE*COM manga series was awarded the prestigious Shogakukan Manga Award in 2004, sold over 10 million copies in Japan, and has also inspired a popular animated series and video game. The English version of the manga series is now available domestically under VIZ Media’s SHOJO BEAT imprint.

“LOVE*COM THE MOVIE aptly shows how comic-inspired stories can make the leap from manga to the big screen and in a romantic light comedy that is not the usual fantasy action or science fiction fare,” states Manami Iiboshi, Director of Marketing, VIZ Pictures. “The film was warmly received at a premiere screening at the recent New York Anime Festival and is actually the first of four new VIZ Pictures releases inspired by popular shojo manga series. Audiences will enjoy the zany situations and heartwarming romance that develops between these two initially mismatched characters.”

Contraband (www.contrabandcomic.com) a new graphic novel by Canadian
writer Thomas Behe and UK illustrator Phil Elliott arriving in
bookstores February 6th is available for pre-order at Amazon.

A near-future tale revealing an all-too-possibly-real world of
underground video, violence and crime on cell phone networks,
Contraband follows a young man's journey into a new "voyeur
underground", where profit-hungry youths prowl streets secretly
filming radical events with mobile devices to satisfy society's demand
for sensational on-the-go content.

Last year, fiction became reality when UK co-creator Phil Elliott was
approached on the street by a teenage girl asking for money. When
Elliott refused, the situation became something much different from
anything he'd experienced.

"A younger kid -- he must have only been about 10 -- started swearing
at me, demanding I give him money," he recalled. "I was then aware
that there was another girl filming all this on her mobile phone. What
was going on here? Were they trying to provoke me? What happened to
the video?"

The incident took on a greater significance when writer Thomas Behe
contacted him to draw a story he'd written. Behe was inspired to write
Contraband after he had noticed people's concerns relating to cell
phones had shifted from physical dangers (ie..radiation, tumours) to
cultural in nature.

"These new issues were social-related," he said. "Mobile ad spamming.
Kids receiving intimidating texts from aggressive class bullies. A
mate of mine was even propositioned to subscribe to some sort of
spy-cam exhibitionist mobi-blog. I had no idea why these folks were
secretly filming everyone, but there was a ton of stuff on there."

In the near-future society of Contraband, Toby, a self-styled "citizen
journalist," is documenting this underground when he is discovered by
agents for a cell-phone channel called Contraband. Forced to work for
them, Toby is assigned the task of finding a female activist set on
sabotaging Contraband and must navigate a difficult path where he must
choose between his own safety and the greater good.

Contraband is a 144 page graphic novel written by Thomas Behe and
illustrated by Phil Elliott. Published by SLG Publishing and due for
release in February 2008, Contraband (Isbn #978-1593621018) is

KODY CHAMBERLAIN'S THE FOUNDATION SELLS OUT

Strong Word of Mouth Drives Sales of the BOOM! Studios Mini-Series
Some Retailers Report "NORTH WIND" effect

LOS ANGELES- January 30th, 2008 - BOOM! Studios announced today that THE FOUNDATION #1 is completely sold out.

Written by John Rozum with art by Chee, THE FOUNDATION is the creation of Kody Chamberlain, who is most well known from his art duties on PUNKS, TAG, and 30 DAYS OF NIGHT: BLOODSUCKER TALES.

"I'm a big fan of high concepts, especially those that sit right on the edge of what's possible. When I pitched THE FOUNDATION to Ross [Richie] at BOOM!, he saw the potential in the premise and got behind it one hundred percent," said creator Kody Chamberlain. "Now, with the first issue selling out, I'm extremely pleased to find readers and retailers responding to the book as well. John Rozum and Chee are doing an amazing job on the first story arc, and I'm thrilled at how it's all coming together."

Released on December 12th, 2007, THE FOUNDATION #1 was overshipped to retailers by 20% and received a steady stream of re-orders. While THE FOUNDATION #1 may still be found at direct market retailers, both publisher BOOM! Studios and distributor Diamond Comics have no more copies in stock.

"THE FOUNDATION is a great book with a great hook. Who doesn't want to read about people trying to stop Nostradamus' predictions? Combined with strong reviews, this sell out comes as no surprise," said Ross Richie, co-founder and CEO of BOOM! Studios.

The sell out of THE FOUNDATION #1 follows a series of critical praise for the book since its release, including the following:

"... deserves to be at the top of the pile." - Newsarama

"...will definitely hook you for the next installment." - Comics Bulletin

"BOOM! Studios has done it again..." - Eye On Comics

Some retailers reported a rise of interest in THE FOUNDATION #1 that coincided with BOOM! Studios' historic online and in store simultaneous release of their other series, NORTH WIND, in conjunction with the MySpace Comic Book community.

"I guess what they say is true, a rising tide does lift all ships," said Chip Mosher, Marketing and Sales Director for BOOM! Studios.

A five-issue miniseries created by Kody Chamberlain, THE FOUNDATION revolves around efforts to stop the unpublished prophecies of Nostradamus from coming to pass. The series is written by John Rozum with art by Chee. Paul Azaceta drew the cover for issue #1.

In June of last year, Paramount Pictures preemptively purchased the film rights to THE FOUNDATION.

BOOM! Studios is working closely with Diamond Comics Distributor and evaluating the demand for a second printing.

Official PR: AAM Markosia announces The Boy Who Made Silence

Winner of the coveted Xeric Grant, the debut issue of The Boy Who Made
Silence was originally self-published by internationally exhibited
painter and creator Joshua Hagler. The series now has a home at AAM
Markosia, publisher of such titles as King Kong, Starship Troopers and
indie fav Headlocked.

In The Boy Who Made Silence, deaf child Nestor Gudfred inexplicably
creates utter silence around him, which compels the people near him
into each other's pasts and memories. As his religious rural community
looks to him as a prophet, the story follows Nestor and a diverse cast
of richly imagined characters as he comes of age, falls in love, and
begins a search for his father.

The series has received advance praise from many of the best talents
in the industry:

"Hagler's debut issue is an impressive start. Not only can Hagler
paint, but he has the proper focus on telling the story. It's subtle,
understated work. And it's beautifully reproduced -- the colours are
rich and vibrant, in a way that makes everything else l've read this
week look washed out and cheaply printed." -- Paul O'Brien, X-Axis

"Brilliant, beautiful, original, authentic, and inspiring! One of the
best comic book reading experiences I've had in a long time." -- David
Mack, author and artist of Kabuki

"In his first work... Hagler finds his true voice. And this is just
the art alone, to say nothing of the moody and reflective
impressionistic story [upon which] he effortlessly floats us along..."
-- Sam Kieth, author and artist of The Maxx, Zero Girl, Ojo

SPOOKS Hit the Web
Dedicated multimedia site launched in support of dramatic new series

LOS ANGELES, CA, January 15, 2007: Filmmaker Ryan Schifrin, creator
and co-writer of the Devil's Due military horror series SPOOKS,
announced the January 30, 2008 launch of the official SPOOKS web site,
located at http://www.SpookstheComic.com. The site will feature
original creative content, including:

• Illustrated fact files on key military personnel
• The official Department of Supernatural Defense "Most Wanted" list
• Excerpts from the first issue
• The official DOPD mission statement
• Key links, including creator interviews and the "Comic Shop Locator
Service"
• SPOOKS music by Lalo Schifrin and Andy Garfield

"We're really jazzed about the series, which hits next month, and
wanted to do something special to commemorate the launch," Schifrin
revealed. SPOOKS is a four-issue arc with a script co-authored by
veteran writer Larry Hama (G.I. Joe, Wolverine), artwork by Adam
Archer and Jonny Rench (Friday the 13th), and creative underpinnings
developed by Hama and famed fantasy author R.A. Salvatore (Forgotten
Realms, Demon Wars). The covers for issue #1 were done by Greg Staples
and Adam Archer, with subsequent covers by Archer, Federico
D'Alessandro, Bill Sienkiewicz, and even film legend Drew Struzan.

The series spotlights the Department of Supernatural Defense, a
branch of the military that "recruits, arms, and deploys specially
trained forces based within the nation's borders in support of
national security…to keep the country free of supernatural enemies,
whether their origins are domestic, international, or otherworldly."
This first limited series reveals a plot by supernatural terrorist
groups to enter the United States covertly and launch a nationwide
assault.

Schifrin, producer-director of the SciFi Channel event movie
Abominable, developed the original concept while working with film
producer Daniel Alter (Hitman). Together, they brought SPOOKS to Josh
Blaylock, president of Devil's Due Publishing.

"This is only the beginning for SPOOKS," Schifrin revealed. "We'll be
adding to the web site on a regular basis, while developing the second
story arc. We'll also use the site to make special announcements as
SPOOKS explodes into other media."

The site was developed by Frog on Top Studios, a company doing
internet and media development for the past twelve years, helping to
shape and advance the world of online media. With clients from the
Forbes prestigious "Fortune 500" list, they have become a very
successful developer and have produced a wide variety of mediums
including film, Web, television, kiosk, and gaming. Some of their more
prestigious clients include General Motors, BF Goodrich, Autodesk,
T-Mobile, Alaskan Airlines, Alpine Electronics and numerous Hollywood
icons such as Vin Diesel and Sean Patrick Flanery.

The first issue of SPOOKS hits comic book stores in February, 2008.
Each of the four monthly issues will feature variant covers, and all
four issues will be collected into a trade edition that will include
exclusive bonus features, as well.

KODY CHAMBERLAIN'S THE FOUNDATION SELLS OUT!
Strong Word of Mouth Drives Sales of the BOOM! Studios Mini-Series
Some Retailers Report "NORTH WIND" effect

LOS ANGELES- January 28th, 2008 - BOOM!

Cell Phone Video Underworld Revealed In New Graphic Novel Contraband From Slg Publishing

Contraband (www.contrabandcomic.com) a new graphic novel by writer Thomas Behe and illustrator Phil Elliott, is a near-future tale revealing an all-too-possibly-real world of underground video, violence and crime on cell phone networks. Contraband follows a young man's journey into a new "voyeur underground", where profit-hungry youths prowl streets, secretly filming radical events with mobile devices to satisfy society's demand for sensational on-the-go content.

Co-creator Phil Elliott was approached on the street by a teenage girl asking for money. It's a sad but common enough occurrence in cities, but when Elliott refused, the situation became something much different from anything he'd experienced. "A younger kid -- he must have only been about 10 -- started swearing at me, 'Give us some ******* money!'" he recalled. "I was then aware that there was another girl filming all this on her mobile phone. What was going on here Were they trying to provoke me What happened to the video"

The incident took on a greater significance for Elliott when writer Thomas Behe contacted him to see if he were interested in drawing a comic he'd written, which explores a voyeuristic underground where profit-hungry youths prowl the streets secretly filming violence and catastrophes with mobile devices. That comic became Contraband. Behe was inspired to write the story after he noticed that people's concerns about cell phones had shifted from the physical dangers, such as radiation or tumors, to more cultural concerns. "The new concerns were more social-related," he said. "Kids receiving intimidating texts from class bullies. A mate of mine was even propositioned to subscribe to some sort of spy-cam exhibitionist mobi-blog. I had no idea why these folks were secretly filming everyone, but there was tons of stuff on there."

In the near-future society of Contraband, bands of content-hungry amateurs armed with camera phones record violent scenes, some of which they instigate, to satisfy society's demand for ever more shocking on-the-go entertainment. Toby, a self-styled "citizen journalist," is documenting this underground when he is discovered by agents for a cell-phone channel called Contraband. Forced to work for them, Toby is assigned the task of finding a female activist set on sabotaging Contraband and must navigate a difficult path where he must choose between his own safety and the greater good.

Contraband is a 144 page black and white graphic novel written by Thomas Behe and Illustrated by Phil Elliott. Published by SLG Publishing and due for release in February 2008, Contraband, isbn # 978-1593621018 is $12.95 and is available at: www.slgcomic.com

Popular Suspense Novelist Joe Hill
Makes the Leap to Comics

IDW Publishing to release Locke & Key, an all-new dark fantasy from
the NY Times best-selling author

San Diego, CA (January 28, 2008)-Best-selling suspense writer Joe Hill is ready to unleash his all-new fantasy-horror comic series on readers in February 2008. A rising star in the horror genre, Hill's stories have ranged from serial killers and abducted children to supernatural novels, but his latest dark fantasy, Locke & Key, is being unleashed in comics form as an initial six-issue series from IDW Publishing (www.idwpublishing.com).

"Hill is one of the most talented up-and-coming horror writers I've read in years," says Chris Ryall, publisher and editor-in-chief for IDW Publishing. "He has the unique ability to compress epic-like tales into a tightly developed series of brief episodes. This approach is nothing short of perfect for comics."

Hill's first short-fiction collection, 20th Century Ghosts, received the British Fantasy Award, The International Horror Guild Award, and the Bram Stoker Award for best collection. The Washington Post noted that "the collection should establish its author as a major player in 21st-century fantastic fiction." Following the success of 20th Century Ghosts, Hill released Heart-Shaped Box, a New York Times bestseller that made the Publisher's Weekly 2007 Best Books of the Year list. The supernatural thriller about a merciless ghost is currently being adapted by Warner Brothers for a planned feature film release.

Locke & Key
Featuring art from Gabriel Rodriguez, who worked on IDW Publishing's Beowulf and Clive Barker's The Great and Secret Show, Locke & Key is a supernatural thriller about three children who find themselves the custodians of a New England mansion. Within the house are fantastic doors that transform all who dare to walk through them-fundamentally changing a child into an old person, a boy into a girl, and so forth. The mansion is also home to a hate-filled creature that will not rest until it forces the kids to open the most terrible door of all.

"Ultimately it's a kind of modern Grimm's fairy tale, about the way young people discover and construct their own identity," says Hill.

Locke & Hill (Diamond order code DEC07 3701) will be available in February 2008.
