Fialkov & Peeples Present The Last of the Greats

Berkeley, CA – 9 September 2011 – In less than a month, Joshua Hale Fialov, the Eisner and Harvey Award-nominated writer of such critically acclaimed titles as DC's New 52 hit I, Vampire, ECHOES, and Tumor, along with artist Brent Peeples (Grimm Fairy Tales), will begin to tell the story of the last of a race of super human beings that protected the Earth... until humankind turned against them, that is. The first issue of THE LAST OF THE GREATS will have no ads, no former story continuity to sort out, and no filler -- just 32 pages of quality storytelling.

Fans of Fialkov's other hit titles and new readers alike will surely be glad to discover this new series. In the tradition of alternate history epics like Irredeemable and Squadron Supreme, THE LAST OF THE GREATS combines adventure and action with dark humor. It's the type of daring storytelling that Image Comics is known for.

The first issue has already been received well by reviewers, with AintItCoolNews saying, "I want to see more of this and, quite frankly, I think comics could use more of it," while A Comic Book Blog stated,  "THE LAST OF THE GREATS will not only ask thought-provoking questions, but provide thought-provoking answers as well... [Fialkov and Peeples] have something unique here; something uncommonly creative and incredibly entertaining in what is another in a long line of soon to be Image Comics Classics."

"Brent and I have a grand story to tell, and we're thrilled at the response so far, and I want to make sure that every reader out there gets a chance to see what we're up to," said Fialkov. "The last week of September, my first issue of DC's I, Vampire premieres, and we made sure that when readers come back to their shops the next week asking for more of my work, the first issue of THE LAST OF THE GREATS will be there waiting for them."

With the art for the first arc completed, Fialkov explained that he can also guarantee a new issue every month like clockwork: "I've done this long enough to know that retailers, readers, and creators are in this together, and we're going to make damn sure to hold up our end of the bargain."

THE LAST OF THE GREATS #3 (AUG110409), a 32-page full-color sci-fi superhero comic for $3.99, along with a Phil Hester variant cover (AUG110409), will be on sale in stores October 5. For more information, a full PDF of the series, and a very special retailer incentive, Fialkov invites retailers to contact him through Twitter @JoshFialkov or via email at

Kirkman & Liefeld's The Infinite #3 to Feature New Variant Cover

Berkeley, CA – 8 September 2011 – THE INFINITE team has once again gotten one of the industry's most celebrated talents to contribute a gorgeous variant cover to their action-packed science fiction hit. Now Image Comics has announced that next month the third issue of Robert Kirkman and Robert Liefeld's THE INFINITE will be available with a new J. Scott Campbell cover that stars the characters Em and Dual!

Besides the Campbell cover, a 48 page deluxe edition of THE INFINITE #3 will also be available, featuring mountains of behind the scenes sketches and illustrations by Liefeld and piles of notes and script pages by Kirkman, offering fans a glimpse behind the curtain to see all the usually unseen work that goes into the creation of a comic book.

"Like so many other fans, absolutely love J. Scott Campbell!" said Liefeld. "He's one of the most popular and influential artists of the modern age. His cover for THE INFINITE #3 exceeded all expectations. He perfectly captured the dynamic between Emily and Duel, both of whom are integral characters in the saga of THE INFINITE! Don't miss out on Campbell's fantastic contribution to THE INFINITE!"

THE INFINITE tells the story of an aging freedom fighter who must travel back in time to team up with his 20-year-old self in order to save the world. In the third issue, Bowen has traveled to the present to attack The Infinite at a time when no one is even aware of their steps toward world domination. But something is not right -- they’re too organized, too prepared, and he begins to think he's underestimated them.

THE INFINITE #3 (AUG110524), a 32-page full-color sci-fi action comic for $2.99, and several limited variant covers including the Campbell variant (JUL118191), two retailer incentive covers, and the $5.99 Deluxe Edition variant (AUG110525), will be on sale in stores October 5.

Robert Kirkman is a New York Times bestselling author known for being the cultural zeitgeist of the comic book industry. Following the grassroots success of the self-published BATTLE POPE (2000), Kirkman caught the eye of Image Comics founding partner Erik Larsen. After several short-term projects (SUERPATRIOT and TECHJACKET), he achieved superstar status in 2003 with INVINCIBLE and THE WALKING DEAD. During a subsequent stint at Marvel Comics, he gained many new fans with the haunting and hilarious Marvel Zombies. MTV translated Kirkman's INVINCIBLE into a motion comic -- one of the first in a growing industry trend. Kirkman's SKYBOUND imprint, under the Image Comics umbrella, is committed to fostering up-and-coming talent in the industry, and all acquisitions are hand-picked by Kirkman himself. Kirkman won the 2010 Eisner Award for Best Continuing Series for THE WALKING DEAD. AMC's interpretation of the comic has received glowing reviews from critics and fans alike, and continues to garner the highest ratings for the network, making it a game changer for groundbreaking television on cable. In 1992, Rob launched Image Comics with the debut of the popular YOUNGBLOOD franchise which has gone on to sell 70 million copies worldwide. Rob was asked by Marvel to re-imagine the classic Marvel heroes, Captain America and The Avengers for a new generation, which lead to the creation of the best selling Heroes Reborn universe. He has worked with comics most celebrated authors, Alan Moore (Watchmen) Mark Millar (Kick-Ass, Wanted) and is thrilled to be collaborating with superstar author Robert Kirkman (WALKING DEAD) on their sci-fi epic THE INFINITE.

The Indomina Group Acquires North American Distribution Rights to Johnnie To’s “Life Without Principle”

Film Set for Premieres at Venice and Toronto Film Festivals

Los Angeles, CA – September 7, 2011 – Continuing to add firepower to its burgeoning theatrical release slate, it was announced today that The Indomina Group, the fast-growing producer and distributor of film, TV and transmedia content and leading proponent of ‘fanboy’ cinema, has acquired North American distribution rights to the thriller “Life Without Principle”the newest film from internationally acclaimed director/producer and contemporary maestro of Hong Kongese action cinema Johnnie To (“Vengeance,” “Election,” “The Mad Detective,” “PTU,” “Exiled”).

The announcement was made by Indomina Group Vice Chairman and CEO Jasbinder Singh Mann on the day of the film’s highly anticipated world premiere at the 68th Venice International Film Festival. Shortly thereafter the film will have its North American premiere when it screens as a special presentation at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Directed and produced by the legendary Johnnie To, “Life Without Principle” tells the story of three characters: an ordinary bank teller turned financial analyst is forced to sell high risk securities to her customers in order to meet her sales target; a small-time thug delves into the futures index hoping to earn easy money to post bail for a buddy in trouble with the law; a straight-arrow police inspector, who has always enjoyed his middle income lifestyle, is suddenly desperate for money when his wife puts a down payment on a luxury flat she can’t afford and his dying father wants him to look after a young half-sister he never knew he had.

Three people who are in dire need of money for the predicaments in their respective lives have nothing in common until a bag of stolen money worth $5 million pops up and lands them in an intricate situation that forces them into making soul searching decisions about right and wrong and everything in between on the morality scale.

The film reunites Johnnie To with prior collaborators Lau Ching Wan (“Running Out of Time 1 and 2” and “Mad Detective”), and Richie Jen (“Exiled”) who star in the film with Denise Ho (“Merry-Go-Round”)  and guest star Terence Yin. The screenplay was written by Au Kin Yee, Wong King Fai, and Milkyway Creative Team.

Indomina’s Vice President of Acquisitions, Rob Williams, brokered the deal with Media Asia’s Fred Tsui.

Commenting on the acquisition, Indomina Group Vice Chairman and CEO Jasbinder Singh Mann said, “Johnnie To is an iconic filmmaker with a massive fan following that mirrors Indomina’s target audience. This is a natural fit for us. ‘Life Without Principle’ is another masterpiece that delivers on all levels and stands out as a true original with the intensity and emotion true to a Johnnie To film. We are excited to bring this film to audiences in the U.S.”

“Life Without Principle” is presented by Media Asia Films, produced by Milkyway Image and distributed by Media Asia Distribution.

The Indomina Group has had an active summer, having recently acquired North American distribution rights (as well as financing and selling) the comedy “A Fantastic Fear of Everything” starring Simon Pegg (“Shaun of the Dead,” “Hot Fuzz”).

In July, Indomina announced a partnership with Samuel L. Jackson to produce a new live action “Afro Samurai” film based on the popular animated series that has spawned an impressive franchise and a global following. This highly anticipated film project is expected to come off the ground in 2012.

Indomina's critically-acclaimed epic adventure “Detective Dee and The Mystery of the Phantom Flame” directed by Tsui Hark is currently in theaters, with the highest per-screen box office average of the Labor Day holiday weekend in North America. Other recent releases include the romantic comedy “Griff the Invisible,” starring Ryan Kwanten (“True Blood”), Yuen Woo Ping’s martial arts feature "True Legend," starring Vincent Zhao, Zhou Xun, Michelle Yeoh and the late David Carradine, and Teddy Chan’s award-wining “Bodyguards & Assassins.”

About Johnnie To:

Highly respected and one of the most prolific directors and producers in Hong Kong, Johnnie To has won international acclaim for films such as “Running Out of Time,” “The Mission,” “Fulltime Killer” and “PTU.”

In addition to winning the Best Director nod at the 23rd Hong Kong Film Awards for “PTU,” his 2004 action thriller “Breaking News” (Official Selections at the 57th Cannes Film Festival) also won him the Best Director award at the 7th Changchun Film Festival, the 37th Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia and the 41st Golden Horse Awards. In 2005, “The Election” was in competition at the 58th Cannes Film Festival and won him another Best Director award at the 38th Sitges International Film Festival in two consecutive years. In 2006, Exiled competed at the 63rd Venice Film Festival and picked up the Audience Choice Award at the 43rd Golden Horse Awards. In 2008, “Sparrow” competed at the Berlin International Film Festival and in 2009, “Vengeance” competed at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival.

Johnnie To was on the official competition jury at the 65th Venice Film Festival in 2008 and at the 64th Cannes Film Festival in 2011.

“TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE” COmplete Season One Box Set on October 11, 2011 — Just in time for Halloween!!

“Tales From Beyond the Pale” is Available as CD, Box Set and Digital Downloads on Amazon and iTunes Beginning October 11, 2011

(September 6, 2011) Glass Eye Pix is excited to offer the complete first season of their wildly successful audio theater TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE to audiences beginning October 11th—just in time for Halloween as digital downloads, compact discs and as a box set.

Conceived during a fog-drenched car ride with nothing beyond the windshield but a horizon-less void, Larry Fessenden and Glenn McQuaid created the acclaimed TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE, audio theater inspired by the vintage radio shows of Alfred Hitchcock and Orson Welles.

“It was very gratifying to challenge these artists to step outside their chosen medium and explore the world of audio storytelling, and to get everyone into production without a long rosy@accidentalsexiness.comfundraising period. With audio tales, the only limitation to production value is imagination,” states Fessenden.

McQuaid adds: Season One of Tales from Beyond the Pale represents a year long effort to plunge the depths of like minded story tellers and to get original genre content out to hungry ears. It’s an eclectic mix, with each story taking the listener down new and unexplored roads.”

Hosted by Larry Fessenden, the tales feature the voice talents of an impressive array of actors from genre and beyond, including: Vincent D’Onofrio, Ron Perlman, Doug Jones, Shea Whigham, Joe Swanberg, Amy Seimetz, Kate Lyn Sheil, Michael Cerveris, Nick Damici, Kevin Corrigan, Angus Scrimm, AJ Bowen, Christopher Denham, and many others….

TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE is brought to you by Fessenden’s production outfit Glass Eye Pix, which is responsible for dozens of celebrated independent films including THE LAST WINTER, I SELL THE DEAD, THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL, WENDY AND LUCY, and STAKE LAND, as well as the forthcoming THE INNKEEPERS. TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE delves into the twisted minds of ten horror auteurs to present singular stories of the uncanny; stories that will chill and delight fans of the macabre.
