Angel: After the Fall Continues NY Times Best Seller Streak!

Angel makes list for third week running

IDW ranked on Best Seller Lists for seven of eight weeks

San Diego, CA (April 17, 2009) – For the third week in a row, fans have flocked to their local comic book store for Angel: After the Fall! The hardcover graphic novel earned the sixth spot on The New York Times Best Seller List, marking the seventh week since the list began in March that IDW books have been ranked.

“We are truly flattered that fans love Angel so much,” says IDW’s Publisher/Editor-in-Chief, Chris Ryall. “Creator Joss Whedon and writer Brian Lynch have developed an amazing story about what happens to Angel after the TV show’s finale, and fans clearly can’t get enough.”

Angel: After the Fall Volume 3, number six on this week’s Best Seller List, continues the adventures of Angel, Spike and the rest of the cast who survived the final episode and puts long-time friends-turned-enemies on a collision course.

“It’s pretty impressive that, even without a TV show, the books continue to attract such attention from fans,” added Ryall. “And overall, we’re very excited that IDW books have made the Best Seller List nearly every week since it started.”

PRESS RELEASE - JOHN LAYMAN AND ROB GUILLORY'S CHEW TO MAKE COMICS DEBUT IN THE WALKING DEAD!Upcoming Image Comics crime series set to first appear in Image Comics' top-seller, THE WALKING DEAD!

16 April 2009 (Berkeley, CA) - John Layman and Rob Guillory's highly anticipated June-shipping ongoing crime series with a sick yet tasteful twist, CHEW, will make its first full appearance in the comic book blockbuster, THE WALKING DEAD, this May.
"Having CHEW debut in WALKING DEAD is extremely appropriate considering I hope CHEW does for cannibalism what WALKING DEAD did for zombies," Layman said. "Seriously, Rob and I are very flattered to have CHEW debut in one of the biggest books out there today. While very different in its approach, I think fans of Kirkman and Adlard's ongoing saga of human survival despite the worst possible situations will love Detective Tony Chu's ongoing saga of surviving the worst possible situations despite his very distinct and sometimes burdening ability. It's going to be a weird, wild ride."

CHEW's star, Detective Tony Chu, is a cop with a secret. As a Cibopathic, Detective Chu gets a psychic impression from whatever he eats. While it means he's a hell of a Detective if he can stomach the evidence, once his secret gets out the government makes plans for him, whether he likes it or not. CHEW blends horror, mystery and the strangest ability of them all in an ongoing series of horrific crimes solved in the most horrific way possible. The preview in THE WALKING DEAD will give fans their very first glimpse into CHEW's dark underworld and the lone man with a literal taste to bring the criminal empire down.

THE WALKING DEAD writer Robert Kirkman added, "John Layman's an excellent writer who has done fantastic work for Marvel and DC, but I'm even more excited he's bringing his creator-owned series to Image. CHEW is an extremely original concept that's ideal for what Image looks for. I couldn't be be happier to debut the series in THE WALKING DEAD and look forward to reading the series."

THE WALKING DEAD #61 (MAR092467), a 32-page black & white comic book featuring the preview of CHEW #1 for $2.99, will be in-stories May 13th, 2009. CHEW #1 (APR090337), a 32-page full color comic book for $2.99, will be in-stores June 3rd, 2009.

Port Was hington, NY – Never fear, the great GIGANTOR returns this spring to save the world from evil criminals, enemy robots and hostile aliens. The influential cartoon series about a giant heroic robot and the young boy that controls him blazed a new trail for Japanese animation in America. Long unavailable on home video, E1 Entertainment presents the classic cartoon in a newly packaged 4-DVD collection of 26 uncut episodes in their original air-date order, with bonus interviews and commentary, six complete Gigantor comics on DVD-ROM, and a brand new collectible 16-page booklet. With the help of Dr. Bob Brilliant, secret agent Dick Strong, and Inspector Blooper, Jimmy and Gigantor must battle to save the world from a never-ending assault by ruthless villains.

Gigantor began as the brainchild of Japanese cartoonist Mitsuteru Yokoyama (Giant Robo, Sally the Witch) who released 92 anime episodes in Japan in the mid ‘60s as “Tetsujin 28-go.” The series was soon acquired for broadcast in the United States, adapted for U.S. audiences by producer Fred Ladd (creator of Pinocchio in Outer Space, “The Big World of Little Adam”), and aired for two seasons (52 episodes) starting in 1966. GIGANTOR: THE COLLECTION – VOLUME 1 features the first 26 of these uncut, black and white episodes, digitally transferred from the original 16mm film.

PRESS RELEASE - G4 TV'S ATTACK OF THE SHOW ANNOUNCES INVINCIBLE CO-CREATOR CORY WALKER'S RETURN!Cory Walker to illustrate an upcoming two-issue arc setting the stage for the future of INVINCIBLE!

15 April 2009 (Berkeley, CA) - Yesterday afternoon during G4 TV series Attack of the Show's Fresh Ink segment, Blair Butler announced acclaimed artist and INVINCIBLE co-creator Cory Walker will return to illustrating INVINCIBLE in a two-part story setting the stage for the upcoming 'Viltrumite War'!

"While Cory has been working behind the scenes in the INVINCIBLE crew, it's great to have him back for these two very special issues," INVINCIBLE co-creator and writer Robert Kirkman said. "They're going to be pretty damn momentous in the grand scheme of INVINCIBLE as we place the spotlight on INVINCIBLE's dad, Nolan, and his new partner, Allen the Alien, while they seek the only weapons capable of taking down the Viltrumite empire. It's gonna be awesome!"

Walker and Kirkman's newest creative collaboration takes place after the fan-favorite issue in which Invincible's father, Nolan, broke free from Viltrumite prison with the assistance of Allen the Alien. Their successful escape led to Nolan joining forces with Allen and the Coalition of Planets in their efforts taking down the Viltrumite empire. Walker's new action-packed two-part shocker will have ramifications leading up to the major confrontation the entire series has been building towards as the 'Vitrumite War' begins in INVINCIBLE #75.

INVINCIBLE #66, a 32-page full color comic book for $2.99, will be in stores September, 2009.

IDW Named Third-Largest Publisher

10-year-old publishing company reaches #3 in March

based on Diamond sales figures

San Diego, CA (April 13, 2009) – Good things come in threes at IDW! Capping off a week of milestones, IDW is proud to enter the ranks of Diamond’s top three publishers for the first time in March. In addition to reaching third, IDW is also celebrating its tenth anniversary, and boasts five Eisner nominations, another new company record.

“This is a huge milestone for us, and the culmination of a decade of hard work by the many different people to have contributed to IDW over the years,” said Ted Adams, CEO of IDW. “We have a lot to be proud of as a company, and this is clearly a great beginning to our second decade.”

Throughout its history, IDW has strived to offer a wide array of comic books, graphic novels and classic books in every major entertainment genre. This broad appeal paid off in March, as several diverse titles helped IDW achieve huge unit sales.

Star Trek: Countdown, the official prequel to the much-anticipated motion picture, has consistently sold very well. As the movie release approaches, the Star Trek: Countdown trade paperback will be a much-read for Star Trek fans who want to fully understand the film. All four issues of Star Trek: Countdown are also available for download from iTunes.

IDW’s G.I. JOE books were also major sellers in March, with several different series bringing fans on new missions with their favorite JOEs. The continuing adventures of Joss Whedon’s fan-favorite vampire, Angel, was another lead seller for IDW in March, with multiple Angel storylines expanding on the universe left behind by the television show.

March was a great month of IDW’s many independent books, including the Eisner-nominated Locke & Key, The New York Times Best Selling Wormwood, and Groom Lake, a four-part tale of alien abductions and probings, conspiracies and secrets.

“IDW has always focused on producing quality comics and books, and it’s gratifying to see fans enjoying our books so much,” said IDW Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Chris Ryall. “There is definitely a lot more great things to come for the company and our readers.”
