CLASSIC BLUEWATER COMIC SERIES GET A SPINE

BELLINGHAM, WASH. (October 17, 2008) – The two sold out comic series Victoria’s Secret Service and Judo Girl will finally be put into trade format in December 2008.

Both trade paperbacks will feature the 1st story archs of the series originally published at ALIAS. Both series are written by Terrance Griep and pencils by Nadir Balan

Judo Girl is described as:

Judo Girl is a woman on a mission: after having spent 40-years in suspended animation, she searches for her missing brother. And Captain Steel hasn't exactly spent the last four decades collecting rust either. Indeed, his awful plans are about to solidify on a worldwide scale. On the flip side is a retro story set during the era of go-go boots and slot cars revealing the secret origin of the original Steel Ray! Martial art meets pop art; both the modern story and the retro story tie in together for one fantastic adventure!

"The first thing that captivated me about JUDO GIRL was the style in which it was written. I'm a sucker for action-comedy with wise cracking heroes, and when you throw in some drama and plot twists the characters really start coming to life," says artist, Nadir Balan. "With a 60s retro and modern day story in each book you really get to see different sides of Judo Girl's character and how she keeps her cool under extreme challenges. When the book you're penciling has all this PLUS hot chicks, ninjas, robots and cyborgs thrown together, it's hard not to get worked up about each page!"

VSS is described as:

They say it takes a thief to catch a thief, and the glamorous field agents of VSS put this tenant to the test when they allow their newest member, the American sneak-thief Scarlet, to take point on her first full mission: hoping to derail on imminent coronation, an unknown scoundrel has stolen the Crown Jewels from the Tower of London. It's up to Lark, Raven, Brooke, and Scarlet to steal back these vibrant symbols of the monarchy they have be paid to protect. But which of her teammates is spying on Scarlet? And why? It's thief versus thief and spy versus spy in this high-impact thriller.

Wizard Magazine listed VSS as one of the books to look out for.

Both books are strong sellers for Bluewater. In 2009 they are bringing Judo Girl back for a third round and VSS’s main character Scarlet is getting a spin-off series in RAIN. VSS has been option as a major motion picture.

The titles are available thru to order now at Diamond Distributors, Ingram & Baker & Taylor. The ISBN and Diamond codes for these titles are:

Victoria Secret Service: ISBN: 978-1-60702-492-7

Padmé Amidala and C-3PO make a memorable entrance in their STAR WARS: THE CLONES series debuts in “Destroy Malevolence,” an all-new animated episode premiering at 9 p.m. ET/PT Friday, Oct. 17, on Cartoon Network.

In the episode - the final act of a three-episode arc - Padmé and C-3PO are taken hostage by General Grievous, leaving Anakin and Obi-Wan to save the Senator and complete the destruction of the Malevolence.

However, Catherine Taber (American Werewolf in Paris, “Crank Yankers”) feels that Padmé is anything but a conventional damsel in distress.

“I don’t see her that way,” Taber says. “She’s a damsel, certainly, but she’s rarely in distress. She sometimes ends up in sticky situations, but always for the right reasons, because she’s out on her own doing what she believes in. She doesn’t really require rescuing; she’s quite capable of rescuing herself. She can be kind of girly, and yet at the same time she’s completely willing to get her hands dirty if she needs to. Playing her is a lot of fun, because it’s very close to playing myself - although she’s been a queen and she’s a senator, so she may be a bit more refined.”

In addition to offering a glimpse at some unexplored sides of Padmé’s character, the episode is a milestone that was significant to Taber, and well as to one of the key relationships in the Star Wars universe.

“What was fun about this episode was that it was the first time in The Clone Wars that Padmé and Anakin are physically together,” Taber says. “In the movie, they only interacted via hologram, so this is a chance to see us together, fighting side by side. It’s sort of the Star Wars version of a date, and it’s always really fun to see these characters interact. Their secret relationship is so central to the larger Star Wars story, and every time they’re together it gives us a glimpse into what’s to come and why.”

Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala reunite for the first time in the hit animated series STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS in “Destroy Malevolence,” an all-new episode premiering at 9 p.m. ET/PT Friday, Oct. 17, on Cartoon Network.

Sam & Max Season One for Wii now shipping to retail in North America

Canine shamus and "rabbity-thing" sidekick will hit Europe in November

SAN RAFAEL, CA, October 14, 2008 -- For the first time in twenty years of patrolling the sticky New York City streets in comic books, video games, and a Saturday morning cartoon, this week marks the first appearance of Sam & Max (also known as the Freelance Police) on a gaming console. Telltale and The Adventure Company are pleased to announce that the irreverent dog and rabbit crime-fighting team are descending into living rooms with the release of Sam & Max Season One for Wii™, which is now shipping to retail stores across North America. Distribution in Europe will follow in November.

Sam & Max Season One is modeled after a television series. Each of the six game episodes on the disc has a self-contained storyline that feeds into an overarching season-wide arc, with comedic sensibilities akin to popular animated series such as The Family Guy and The Simpsons. The games play like interactive sit-coms, with the player collecting clues, interrogating a bizarre supporting cast of characters, and ultimately unraveling the overarching hypnosis conspiracy that spans the six episodes.

Sam & Max Season One has been critically acclaimed and has won numerous awards, including Adventure Game of the Year from IGN, GameSpy, and PC Gamer. The series is known for its rich engaging environments and cinematic camerawork, which have been enhanced by widescreen support which has been added to Sam & Max Season One for Wii. Enhancements to the game's point and click interface and the in-game tutorial makes the Wii version easily accessible even to more casual audiences.

Sam & Max Season One for Wii is rated Teen by the ESRB and retails for $29.99 (US). The title can be found in major North American retail stores including GameStop, Fred Meyer, Hollywood Video, Hastings, and Micro Center, and online at Gamestop.com, Amazon.com, and Telltalegames.com. Additional details about European availability will be announced soon.

To learn more about Sam & Max Season One for Wii and view the trailer and screenshots, please visit the official website: http://www.samandmaxgame.com/wii

A Treasury of XXth Century Murder, Volume 1

THE LINDBERGH CHILD: America’s Hero and the Crime of the Century

By Rick Geary

Rick Geary’s Treasury of Victorian Murder series enters the 20th century with one of the most sensational cases ever! All was well for Charles Lindbergh after his daring solo crossing of the Atlantic. Then someone abducted his baby son! Geary traces the highly publicized events and colorful characters wanting to “help,” some of whom snookered the beleaguered hero. It’s a story of savory details and unsavory people as only Geary can relate with his understated dark humor.

“Geary's Victorian series was all about the creepy America that was; this new series looks like it'll be about the creepy America that is. … A-” -- THE ONION

“I devour each of Geary's volumes the instant they come out. … Just go buy one, already, and you'll be as hooked as I am.”
-- Andrew Smith, Scripps News Service

“Rick Geary's version is gripping and grisly precisely because it does away with extracurricular characterization and overt violence, bringing the historical tragedy's full effect into finer focus.” -- Scott Thill, WIRED.com

“Rick Geary is one of cartooning’s unsung treasures. Highly recommended, topnotch stuff.” -- Heidi McDonald, THE BEAT

“Unforgettable, from start to finish.”-- ComicBookResources.com

Hey gang,
Just a quickie as I'm heading to set. It's been a massively long couple of weeks getting through the end of production, so I apologize for all but disappearing off the face of the earth. Things'll get a bit easier after next week, and I'll return to land of the living (in theory).

So, for those who are lazy and haven't jumped on board yet, this is word that THE best episode of LG15: The Resistance to date is up on www.lg15.com, www.youtube.com, www.myspace.com, www.dailymotion.com, and www.hulu.com

And please, as always, tell your friends, parents, goats, and other highly intelligent farm animals about the show. Every click helps!

Also, Cleaners #2 and Cyblade #3 are both in Previews this month, but, more on those in the coming weeks.

Cheers gang,

j.
