SECOND IT GIRL & THE ATOMICS PAPERBACK COLLECTS THE REST OF BELOVED SERIES

Jamie S. Rich and a cadre of artists top off their acclaimed year-long run on the It Girl and the Atomics series with the second trade paperback collection. It Girl and the Atomics, Round Two: The World is Flat collects issues #7 through #12, drawn by Mike Norton (Revival) and Natalie Nourigat (The Thrilling Adventure Hour), with a special spooktacular appearance by Chynna Clugston Flores. The book will be published by Image Comics on October 2, 2013.

It Girl originally appeared in Michael Allred’s late 1990s comics series The Atomics, and later as a cast member in Madman Atomic Comics. This is her first solo series, as well as the first fully-sanctioned Madman spin-off. It Girl’s superpowers are that she can touch any object and adopt its attributes, becoming “it.”

“I’m extremely proud of the work we did on these comics,” Rich said. “The series garnered what are so far the best reviews of my career, and it’s become the first thing people want to talk to me about when I’m at conventions. Having the whole thing together in two complete books is extremely gratifying. It’s a great way to end the project, and we want to reward our readers by giving them a special package.”

In addition to all the stories from the individual comics, It Girl and the Atomics also has all the cover art by the original creators of It Girl, Madman masterminds Michael and Laura Allred. Bonus content includes brand-new pin-ups by Brian Churilla, Ming Doyle, Megan Levens, George Kambadais, Monica Gallagher, Brennan Wagner, Mike Russell, Christopher Mitten, and pioneering indie cartoonist Matt Wagner (Mage, Grendel). The introduction was written by Eric M. Esquivel, writer of Freelancers for Boom! Studios.

“The support from our friends and colleagues on this one was tremendous,” Rich continued. “I think in a few years time, people will look back at the pin-up gallery and be shocked by what an impressive and varied list of people it is. Lots of up-and-comers in there with the more established professionals.”

It Girl and the Atomics, Round Two: The World is Flat collects six issues, but it’s made up of several shorter stories. “After the first trade paperback’s long, continuous narrative, I wanted to write superhero adventures that were done in one or two issues. Like most soap opera capes-and-cowls comics, there are still bits and pieces that connect them all, but the intention was to allow any new reader to jump in at just about anytime and go along with what we were doing. Really, you can read The World is Flat without ever having glanced at Dark Streets, Snap City and know what’s going on."

It Girl and the Atomics, Round Two: The World is Flat will be released by Image Comics on October 2. It has 168 color pages, retails for $14.99, and sports an all-new cover by Michael & Laura Allred.

RAT QUEENS ON THE SCENE WITH A SELL OUT
Funny high fantasy tale gathers accolades, fans and goes back to press

This year, Image Comics asked, "WHAT'S NEXT?" and answered that question with a bevy of new releases that went on to instant sell-outs, week after week. This week is no different, as RAT QUEENS, a series that mixes high fantasy with short tempers and a party-centric lifestyle, has sold out at the distributor level and will be going back to press for a second printing.

RAT QUEENS #1, written by Kurtis Wiebe with art by Roc Upchurch, has debuted to thunderous applause. The response from fans, press, and fellow creators has been overwhelming. Fans and creators took to social media to spread word of the intensely relatable humor and high level of craft on display in RAT QUEENS, and the press did their part with a number of glowing reviews.

“Think Sex & the City meets Lord of the Rings. Yes, it’s that weird. And yes, it’s that awesome.”
- Blake Northcott, CBS/Man Cave Daily

"The lead characters are crude, rough and tumble females who party, take drugs, eat candy, and kick the crap out of anybody who crosses their path. In other words, this is one awesome comic book."
- Benjamin Bailey, IGN

"A real paradigm-shifter."
- Vanessa Gabriel, Girls Gone Geek

"From character design to layout, from dialogue to environment; every element of this new title lends to its feeling of novelty. Even the eye-catching logo and title design add the singular effect of rock-and-roll fantasy."
- Sam LeBas, Multiversity Comics

"It's a really entertaining comic book that manages to capture the spirit of tabletop gaming without making fun of that experience"
- Forrest C. Helvie, Newsarama

"Upchurch’s art makes what is already a fantastic idea and great story a truly engaging and fantastic comic."
- Leo Johnson, Stash My Comics

RAT QUEENS #1 may still be available at comic book stores and is available digitally on the Image Website (imagecomics.com) and the official Image Comics iOS app, as well as on Comixology on the web (comixology.com), iOS, and Android.

The second printing of RAT QUEENS #1 arrives 10/23, can be pre-ordered with Diamond Code AUG138285, and features a cover by Riley Rossmo (DRUMHELLAR, DEBRIS).

RAT QUEENS #2 releases on 10/23 and features two covers by Roc Upchurch. Cover A can be pre-ordered now using Diamond Code AUG130707, and Cover B can be pre-ordered using Diamond Code AUG130708.

THE HOTTEST DEBUT OF THE YEAR SELLS OUT!
New series from Matt Fraction & Chip Zdarsky sells out, goes back to press for another go around

SEX CRIMINALS #1, the brand-new ongoing sex comedy by Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky, has sold out at the distributor level, and is going back to press for a second printing.

SEX CRIMINALS #1 may still be available in comic stores and is available digitally on the Image website (imagecomics.com) and the official Image Comics iOS app, as well as on Comixology on the web (comixology.com), iOS, and Android.

SEX CRIMINALS #1’s second printing will be available on 10/23 and can be pre-ordered with Diamond Code AUG138284.

SEX CRIMINALS #2 releases on 10/23 and can be pre-ordered using Diamond Code AUG130714.

"It's funny, heartbreaking and real all at once, while also being about sex and crime... One of the best comics I’ve read in years."
- Ed Brubaker (FATALE, VELVET, Captain America: Winter Solider)

"Well... SEX CRIMINALS is like the best comic ever written. Congrats Matt Fraction and DAMN... art by Chip Zdarsky is PERFECT."
- Robert Kirkman (THE WALKING DEAD, INVINCIBLE)

"For a book about a gun-toting woman who literally orgasms her way to super powers (you heard me), SEX CRIMINALS #1 is a remarkably relatable book. Writer Matt Fraction and artist Chip Zdarsky have crafted a debut issue that isn't like anything we've seen yet. It's part action adventure, part touching coming of age drama, all with a healthy amount of wry humor sprinkled throughout."
- Melissa Grey, IGN

"The book brims with a certain sexual energy that makes it fun, risqué, and refreshing."
- Jimbus Christ, Bloody Disgusting

"SEX CRIMINALS #1 might be one of the best premiere issues of the year."
- Max Delgado, Unleash the Fanboy

"This is not a book that simply relies on the fact it contains the subject of sex in order to arouse curiosity. Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky have created something new and exciting."
- Tony Guerrero, Comic Vine

"I give SEX CRIMINALS high marks for being a positive look at female sexuality, without giggling like a ten-year-old. It’s not a lewd book at all. It’s titillating, sure, but it’s very sincere...Enjoyable from start to finish, Sex Criminals is probably the weirdest and sweetest book I’ve read in a long time."
- Alison Berry, Comicosity

"In truth, this is definitely not what you expected–in the best of ways–and its sense of fun (anchored by its zippy dialogue) and emphasis on character so far are its strongest assets."
- Matt LeMaire, The MacGuffin

"Zdarsky’s art takes what could be the skeeviest titles on shelves into the sweetest."
- James Johnston, Multiversity Comics

"The inclusion of sex acts as told by a high school girl completely puts it into insanely hilarious territory. Zdarsky’s art gives the book a great look, making it expressive and having a great sense of style."
- Leo Johnson, Stash My Comics

Asylum Press and Pretend For Real Studios Team Up To Develop Gritty Horror Franchise Rough House
Trailer for upcoming film and comic book series Rough House now on YouTube
September 26, 2013 (Los Angeles) Asylum Press and Pretend For Real Studios have released a trailer for their upcoming film and several comic book preview pages for their latest horror franchise entitled Rough House.
Rough House is a gritty, action-packed horror movie and comic book series that examines innocent victims thrown into a caged fighting match with deranged serial killers where they fight to the death.
Rough House combines the brutal ruckus of Fight Club, the twisted horror of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and drapes it under a cloak of a government black ops conspiracy.
The story begins with an athletic young woman known only as “The Girl” who is kidnapped and thrown into a bizarre world of masked serial killers who torment their victims in brutal underground fights, backyard wrestling matches and deadly mixed martial arts bouts.  She soon proves herself able to hold her own in death matches against colorful masked killers with names like “Bone Job”, “Baby Fat, and “Skeeter the Devil Boy”. Once inside the Rough House ,“The Girl” uncovers dark secrets that possibly link her to a secret government program and to the fighters themselves. As “The Girl’s” psyche is worn down by brainwashing and psychotropic drugs, she becomes more and more of a stone cold killer herself. She must decide whether she will escape the Rough House or stay focused on her true target, the ringleader called “Big Daddy.”
Rough House is based on a story idea and trailer created by Mike L. Taylor of Pretend For Real Studios and a feature length screenplay written by Elizabeth J. Musgrave (Farmhouse, Darwin’s Pâté).
The project will be released as a digital first 4-issue comic book mini-series through Asylum Press and later in print as a graphic novel.
“I have a long history as a comic book artist and I am thrilled to see my movie concept brought to life on the comic book page,” says creator Mike L. Taylor. “We put together a great teaser trailer, we have a killer script and we’re in the process of doing storyboards and concept art for the film.”
“Mike gave me an outline and together we were able to create an interestingly warped world,” reveals writer Elizabeth J. Musgrave. “Each member of “Big Daddy’s” crew is a trained killer, but I tried to inject a tormented soul to each one.”
“We are excited to release this first glimpse into Rough House,” explains publisher Frank Forte. “It’s a dark, twisted tale that delves into what would happen if the victims in a slasher film were bad ass fighters themselves that could give the killers a run for their money…and show the viewer some brutal fight scenes in the process.  We also delve into MK-Ultra, The CIA, Black Ops and government conspiracies, it's very twisted.”
The Rough House trailer was directed by Mike L. Taylor based on a script by Elizabeth Fine and a story by Mike L. Taylor.  It features Ramona Cast (Rad Girls) as “The Girl”, David Yow (Scratch Acid, The Jesus Lizard) as “Big Daddy”, Devyn Ashley as “Baby Fat”, Noshir Dalal as “Bone Job”, Maria Kanellis (WWE DIVA, Playboy) as “Trixxi”, Mike Bray as “Skeeter” and Carlos Cespedes as “Trixxi’s victim”, Rob Czar and Ganesh Hennings as “Dead Heads”,  Nick Seone  as “ear donor” and Brandon Riley, Matt Fry, Joel Peterson, Brian Testa, Mike L. Taylor, Ganesh Hennings  as “Baby Fat’s fans”, Brandon Riley was co-producer, Mike Spatola was make-up FX Supervisor, Anton David was stylist, music by Fantasizer, sound design by Micah Johnson, Matte Paintings by Brandon Riley.
Rough House the comic book will be available digitally on iPad, iPhone, Android, Kindle, Mac and PC via the following apps: Comixology, ComicsPlus, Graphicly, My Digital Comics, iBooks, DriveThruComics, and AVE Comics.
