DYNAMITE RINGS IN THE NEW YEAR WITH TWO SOLD-OUT FIRST ISSUES!

Publisher's January Launch Titles Red Sonja and
Rick Remender's Devolution Head for Second Printings

JANUARY 21, 2015, MOUNT LAUREL, NJ: Dynamite Entertainment is already poised to have its best year yet, with new hires, new offices, and now, the publisher's two January launch titles selling out at Diamond upon release!

In 2014, Dynamite celebrated their tenth anniversary, and things have not slowed down since, with the company acquiring new licenses, new talent, and even a creator-owned comics line! Now, early into 2016, two of the company's January lauch titles head back to reprint just days after release.

First up, Marguerite Bennett and Aneke step into the world of not-so-scantily clad swords and sworcery, with Red Sonja! Through the plains of Hyrkania, a message sweeps through the scattered peoples of the nation. Bells ring, horns blow, voices shout - the King is dying! Red Sonja rides to save the King from his doom as the powers of Hyboria crowd around to strike when the kingdom is weakest. But a dread new power rises from within Hyrkania's own borders, bent on defending its homeland - no matter the cost, no matter what its people become. A defining chapter of the Red Sonja saga - dark, clever, vicious, and funny - as the She-Devil with a Sword must stop the rise of a brutal new regime... her own people!

Next, Rick Remender brings an all-new original creator-owned series to Dynamite with Devolution! Every living creature on Earth has been devolved - the evolutionary clock turned back, reverting all life to odd mutations and prehistoric incarnations. The cities of man are little more than bloody territories ruthlessly dominated by tribal Neanderthals ruling from the backs of mammoths, packs of saber-toothed tigers, and giant man-eating insects. Writer Rick Remender (Black Science, Fear Agent), artist Jon Wayshak (The Authority), and colorist Jordan Boyd (Ant-Man, Planet Hulk) take you on a journey with the last band of "Still Sapien" humans in the hope of locating an antidote and re-evolving the human race.

"Dynamite works hard to ensure that we are working with the top creators in the industry, whether on our own properties, our licensed titles, or their original works," says Dynamite CEO/Publisher, Nick Barucci. "With not one, but two launches selling out upon release in the first month of the new year, I'd say these creators really nailed it!"

Red Sonja #1 by Marguerite Bennett and Aneke and Devolution #1 by Rick Remender and Jonathan Wayshak have both sold out at Diamond, and are currently being reprinted with an on-sale date of February 17. The Devolution #1 Second Printing showcases the original cover by Jae Lee, but features an alternate color scheme. The Red Sonja #1 Second Printing cover features never-before-published artwork by Robert Hack (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina).

ACTRESS DAISY RIDLEY SIGNS ON TO EXECUTIVE PRODUCE SUNDANCE PREMIERE FILM
“THE EAGLE HUNTRESS”
January 22, 2016 -   Daisy Ridley, star of the current blockbuster STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS and hero to young women everywhere, has signed on as an Executive Producer for the Sundance Premiere film THE EAGLE HUNTRESS, as announced by Morgan Spurlock, executive producer for the film.
Ridley joined the team after seeing a cut of film and felt she was obligated to do everything within her power to make sure audiences the world over would have the chance to see this epic story of female empowerment.
Directed by Otto Bell and executive produced by Oscar® nominated Spurlock, THE EAGLE HUNTRESS is the spellbinding true story of Aisholpan, a 13-year old Mongolian girl who is strives to become the first female Eagle Hunter in 2,000 years of male dominated history.  Aisholpan is a real life role model on an epic journey to win victory in a faraway land.  Under the tutelage and support of her father and her grandfather, she learns all aspects of this ancient tradition, including taming her very own eaglet and training it for the annual Golden Eagle Festival, which involves competing against male Eagle Hunters from all over the country.  She even dreams of hunting in the frozen winters to prove that a girl can do anything a boy can, so long as she’s determined.
The film is set amongst the magical Altai Mountains of Northwestern Mongolia; the most remote part of the least populated country on Earth. This little known world is rich in exquisitely preserved tradition, yet spoiled by an ignorance that is perpetuated by this isolation. For far too long, women have been seen as “too fragile” to hunt with an eagle. Aisholpan is out to prove them wrong and change history.
“I was deeply moved by Aisholpan’s story and wanted to be a part of this beautiful film,” said Ridley.  “I feel audiences and young girls around the world will be as inspired by her story as I was, and I am so proud to share her journey with the world.”
THE EAGLE HUNTRESS is making its world premiere this weekend at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival in Utah, as the first documentary ever to play in the Sundance Kids Premiere section.  Aisholpan, herself is making the trek to Park City, Utah all the way from Mongolian together with her family for the festival screenings and to participate in discussions.  During the festival, she will also take part in the live eagle demonstrations at the Kimball Art Gallery and a unique photo gallery exhibit of amazing photos taken of her in Mongolia with the eagles at The Eagle Huntress Gallery on Main Sreet.
“We were so glad that Daisy responded to the film and Aisholpan’s story,” added exec producer Spurlock. “Having her join us will elevate this amazing story to greater heights and spread the magic of this courageous young girl to audiences of all ages.”
"Like so many other theatre-goers around the world, I was blown away by Daisy’s recent portrayal of an empowered female protagonist," added director Otto Bell. "I’m thrilled she’ll be bringing that same energy to supporting a real-world heroine who is also on an epic journey to win victory in a far away land."
Daisy Ridley is an English actress best known for her breakthrough role as Rey in the 2015 film, STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS. Daisy joined the voice cast of ONLY YESTERDAY, a film from one of the world’s best animation studios, Japan’s Studio Ghibli.  In honor of the 25th anniversary of the original film, the studio was looking to dub the film in English and re-release the film into English-Speaking territories.  As such, each character needed to have an American accent.  Ridley, extremely passionate about all of the Ghibli films, would not let her British accent prevent her from being in the film so she lost her British accent and against the odds, won the lead role of  Taeko.
The film was written and directed by Ghibli co-founder Isao Takahata. Only Yesterday tells the story of a 27-year-old unwed woman who travels by train to see her family in the country and experiences memories of her schoolgirl days in 1966, causing her to question the choices she’s made in her life. The 25th Anniversary release is set for this year
THE EAGLE HUNTRESS is the first feature documentary from director Otto Bell and is produced by Stacey Reiss and Sharon Chang. Morgan Spurlock, Jeremy Chilnick, Dan Cogan, Regina K. Scully, Marc H. Simon, Barbara Dobkin and Susan Maclaury are executive producers in association with Artemis Rising Foundation, Impact Partners, Shine Global and Warrior Poets. The film is edited by Pierre Takal and director of photography is Simon Niblett.

Production on the Supernatural Thriller from Creators Brannon Braga and Adam Simon and Fox 21 Television Studios Begins Today

Marilyn Manson (photo credit: Jiro Schneider); Cast of “Salem” (photo credit: WGN America)

SHREVEPORT, LA, (January 21, 2016) – Legendary artist Marilyn Manson will join the cast of WGN America’s hit supernatural thriller “Salem” in a special guest starring role, it was announced today.  Production on the original drama's third season, produced by Fox 21 Television Studios, begins today in Shreveport, LA.

Manson will portray “Thomas Dinley,” a barber and surgeon who is the go-to man in Salem, from a shave and a haircut to being leeched, bled, sliced open or sewn up.  The four-time Grammy nominee is no stranger to the cable network's first scripted original, having previously collaborated with "Salem's" composer Tyler Bates on the show’s opening title sequence.  The hauntingly dark track, "Cupid Carries a Gun," sets the tone for the enthralling one-hour drama which boldly reimagines the infamous 17th century witch trials in a world where witches are real, but they are not who or what they seem to be.

Continuing its bloody, sexy and fantastical reimagining of Colonial America, “Salem's” third season dawns with the triumph of the witches' plan to remake the New World by bringing the devil to earth and making Salem his capital.  But the devil is a liar, and instead of a New World free from murderous Puritan hypocrisy, his own plan will bring nothing but death and slavery with the ultimate aim of leading humanity to destroy itself.  And there's only one person on earth who can beat the devil -- the very witch that birthed him, his mother, Mary Sibley.  The only problem is—she's dead.  Or is she?

“Salem" stars Janet Montgomery ("Human Target," "Made in Jersey") as Mary Sibley, Shane West ("Nikita," "ER") as Captain John Alden, Seth Gabel ("Arrow," "Fringe") as Cotton Mather, Ashley Madekwe ("Revenge") as Tituba, Tamzin Merchant ("Jane Eyre") as Anne Hale, Elise Eberle ("The Astronaut Farmer") as Mercy Lewis, Iddo Goldberg ("Mob City") as Isaac Walton, Joe Doyle ("Raw") as Baron Sebastian Marburg and Oliver Bell ("The Saint") as Mary’s son.

Created and written by Brannon Braga and Adam Simon, “Salem" is executive-produced by Braga, Simon, Kelly Souders, Brian Peterson and Prospect Park’s Jeff Kwatinetz and Josh Barry.  The series is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios.

BLACK MAGICK OFFERS A BEWITCHING ARC FINALE

New York Times bestselling and Eisner Award-winning writer Greg Rucka (LAZARUS, Stumptown, Gotham Central) and superstar artist Nicola Scott (Birds of Prey, Secret Six, Earth 2) will conclude the first story arc in their ongoing gothic noir series BLACK MAGICK this February.

Previously in BLACK MAGICK, Detective Rowan Black found herself tangled up in a decidedly occult investigation—despite her efforts to keep her work and private lives separate—that quickly became quite personal.

In BLACK MAGICK #5, the first chapter comes to a conclusion, and it’s a trial by divination.

“This issue concludes the first half of the first ‘act’—and it upends the table,” said Rucka. “We start to see more of what not only what Rowan can do, but what Alex is capable of, as well; but more crucially, we get the first real reveal of what it is they’re up against. And it isn’t pretty. Literally and figuratively.”

“Rowan, Alex, pretty much everyone, has way more to fear than they thought,” said Scott. “Something's creeping through the cracks and the manipulation has just started.”

BLACK MAGICK #5 Cover A by Nicola Scott (Diamond code: DEC150569) hits stores Wednesday, February 24th. BLACK MAGICK #5 Cover B by Stephanie Hans (Diamond code: DEC150570) will also be available Wednesday, February 24th. Final order cutoff deadline for retailers is Monday, February 1st.

INVINCIBLE ORIGINAL SERIES ARTIST CORY WALKER RETURNS
Beloved co-creator of the long-running creator-owned superhero series begins new arc
New York Times bestselling author, multiple award-winning creator, and pop culture phenomenon Robert Kirkman (THE WALKING DEAD, OUTCAST BY KIRKMAN & AZACETA) reunites with original series artist—the fan-favorite and industry-beloved Cory Walker—for an all-new, heart-wrenching, jaw-dropping story arc coming this April from Image/Skybound.
In INVINCIBLE #127, Mark has returned from the past... to a very different future. Now he has to pick up the pieces of his life and try to put them back together.
In an exclusive interview with IGN, Walker added: “I’m a genuine fan of the book and I’ve always been involved in varying degrees through the years, but as the opportunity began to present itself, this possibility that I could come on and fill in for a few issues, it was pretty exciting. I have slowly been working on other things and haven’t had a comic on stands since I shared art duties with Ryan back on the Flaxan invasion/Rex and Monster Girl story back in Invincible 92-96, so the prospect of putting ANY comics out relatively soon was a sweet enough proposition, but make it Invincible and I can’t say no.”
INVINCIBLE #127 (Diamond Code FEB160514) will hit comic book stores on Wednesday, April 20th. The final order cutoff deadline for comic book retailers is Monday, March 28th.

Mike Mignola’s Next Big Book At IDW!
‘The Amazing Screw-On Head And Other Curious Objects’
 Receives Artist’s Edition Treatment

San Diego, CA (January 20, 2016) – This June, IDW Publishing welcomes Mike Mignola back to its publishing slate with an all-new Artist’s Edition featuring the legendary creator’s Eisner Award-winning story, The Amazing Screw-On Head. This second Artist’s Edition featuring Mignola’s iconic work will collect the entire one-shot story by Mignola, as well as additional tales from the Screw-On Head collection. The hefty tome will be rounded out by a rich gallery of beautiful Mignola illustrations.

"I consider the stories collected in the Amazing
Screw-On Head and Other Curious Objects
to be the best work I’ve done in comics—certainly they are my favorite—so I’m thrilled to see them getting the IDW Artist's Edition treatment," said Mignola.

Squaring off against the likes of Emperor Zombie and Dr. Snap, The Amazing Screw-On Head is a quintessential Mignola tale. Fans of Mignola’s Hellboy can eagerly add this essential masterpiece to their collection which was a natural choice to receive its own Artist’s Edition.

As with all of IDW’s pioneering Artist’s Editions, Mike Mignola’s Amazing Screw-On Head Artist’s Edition showcases the original art scanned in full color at the size it was originally drawn at. Mignola’s rich, layered ink work is truly a sight to behold, as anyone who has read the Hellboy in Hell Artist’s Edition can attest.

The 144-page Artist’s Edition measures at 12” x 17,” and will be available through IDW and your local comic shop beginning this June.
