Isotope Comics, iFanboy and Image Comics Team Up For A Once In A Lifetime Zombie Apocalypse Bar Crawl With Fans
Berkeley, CA -- March 25, 2011 – The dead will rise and take over San Francisco this April 1. Robert Kirkman of THE WALKING DEAD fame and hoards of his zombified fans will invade the apocalypse-worthy drinking establishments of the city by the bay, seeking the flesh of the living, and quite possibly some adult beverages as well. Isotope Comics, iFanboy, and Image Comics are teaming up for a night the city will never forget.
Walking Dead and Robert Kirkman fans of legal drinking age are welcome to join the tour as we explore the saloon strongholds throughout San Francisco. Those who fear to walk among the dead or long to trade survivor stories with Mr. Kirkman himself can buy a ticket to ride in style aboard a San Francisco tour bus with Robert Kirkman, James Sime and Conor Kilpatrick and Ron Richards of iFanboy.
James Sime, proprietor of Isotope Comics, shares tips for surviving the night, "It's time to get zombified San Francisco!" said Sime, "Grabbing a seat on this insanely cool bus will score you VIP transport to our every stop, an exclusive WALKING DEAD SF BAR CRAWL SURVIVAL GUIDE to get autographed, and will have you rubbing shoulders with the always awesome Robert Kirkman for what will no doubt be one of the most fun nights of your life! Wear your best zombie gear, indulge in one of the many of THE WALKING DEAD drink specials the bars will be serving all night, and get a personal introduction to Robert Kirkman from yours truly! What could be better!?"
There will be a limited number of tickets available for purchase to ride along on this apocalyptic zombie bar crawl aboard the world famous MAGIC BUS (www.magicbussf.com). Tickets will cost $50 and go on sale at 3 PM Eastern / Noon Pacific on Wednesday, March 30, 2011. Tickets will be available online by visiting iFanboy.com or Isotopecomics.com on March 30th to get the exclusive link to order.
For those who miss out on this limited ticket sale, there will be another chance to win a ticket for themselves and a friend by visiting the Image Comics booth #401 at WonderCon in San Francisco. All purchases made there on Friday April 1st will enter fans in a ticket raffle. Robert Kirkman will draw the winning raffle number there at the Image Comics booth #401 at 4:30 pm.
“This stands to be one of the most unforgettable nights ever,” said iFanboy’s Ron Richards, “We’ve had some fun times with iFanboy and Isotope and all the great comic fans of San Francisco, but adding Robert Kirkman and Image Comics to our bar crawl will be epic! But we also want as many WALKING DEAD fans as possible to get to join in on the madness!”
Next week, THE WALKING DEAD zombie bar crawl route and the estimated times of arrival for the bus with Robert Kirkman will be posted on www.isotopecomics.com and www.ifanboy.com, as well as be available at Isotope Comics at 326 Fell St, San Francisco and the Image Comics booth #401 at Wonder Con.

LI'L DEPRESSED BOY LIKES THE LIKE
Issue 3 of Indie Romance Comic Features LA Band The Like
Berkeley, CA – March 25, 2011 – On April 13th, LA songstresses, The Like, will rock the pages of LI'L DEPRESSED BOY with their 60's British-invasion inspired pop music. Having previously featured the pop punk musician Kepi Ghoulie in the first issue, when LDB first met Jazz, the girl of his dreams, this comic is no stranger to buzz-worthy new indie music.
S. Steven Struble explained the decision to have real bands rather than fictional ones, "Music is a very important thing in LDB's life, and we like to keep it authentic. So for us, there was no other choice than a real band. The Like fit perfectly the story we were telling and we both love their music."
"When Struble had suggested a real band playing at Jazz's birthday, my first throught was The Like," added artist Sina Grace. "I expected a huge back and forth about which band to go with, but it turned out he'd been listening to them for months and loved Release Me as much as I did."
Laena Geronimo, bassist for The Like, said, "Being illustrated in a comic book is kind of one of the most unbelievably awesome things that can happen to a band I think. It's just amazing how well our looks and mannerisms were captured in just lines and color. I'm SO excited to see the physical pages in my hands! I can't believe I'm on the cover! I'm going to frame it."
In the third issue of this boy-meets-girl story, LDB spends some time with his love interest, visits a thrift store, searches for the perfect gift and finally, goes to Jazz's birthday party where The Like play. These ordinary, everyday parts of life and falling in love in the real world have won over readers. As Multiversity's Joshua Mocle explained the music-driven romance between the two main characters of LI'L DEPRESSED BOY, "the pure catharsis of co-existing with one's music collection in their early 20s is on display and is crafted so perfectly..."
LI'L DEPRESSED BOY #3 (FEB110463), a 32-page full color comic book will be is available in stores for $2.99 on April 13, 2011.

MORTAL KOMBAT: SONGS INSPIRED BY THE WARRIORS
TURNS THE VOLUME UP ON APRIL 5
Soundtrack Executive Produced by JFK of MSTRKRFT/Death From Above 1979
Burbank, CA (March 24, 2011) - WaterTower Music and Teenage Riot Records have unveiled the details of the album Mortal Kombat: Songs Inspired by the Warriors. This collection of electronic music inspired by the upcoming Mortal Kombat game is being executive produced by JFK (of the DJ/ production duo MSTRKRFT and Death From Above 1979) and is set for release April 5th.
JFK has assembled a spectacular group of DJs and producers to continue the tradition of weaving electronic music into the Mortal Kombat aesthetic. He enthusiastically describes the project, saying "It's always exciting to have the opportunity to write music for something outside of the traditional means, especially when it is for a project like Mortal Kombat that has had such pop cultural significance for so long. It’s a great step forward for the ways that video games can interact with music across unique genres and mediums."
That same excitement has been echoed by the artists who are contributing to the project. "I've been a Mortal Kombat fan since Mortal Kombat 2 came out on Sega Genesis. This was completely a passion project for me, and I'm so honored to be a part of the Mortal Kombat legacy!" declares glitch-step wunderkind Skrillex, who contributes “Reptile’s Theme” to the project.
Celebrated producer Harvard Bass, who recorded “Helado (Sub-Zero’s Theme)” for the collection, adds emphatically "When I found out I was going to work on music for Mortal Kombat, I almost lost it. I've been a huge fan of the game and it was a privilege to be a part of video game history." And DJ and producer Congorock says “Mortal Kombat has shocked me since the first time I played it…for the album I went for something more atmospheric and less clubby, but still it feels like a dream coming true.”

MORNING GLORIES: A LESSON IN POPULARITY
New Printing Scheduled for Runaway Hit in April
BERKELEY, CA -- 23 March, 2011 -- With the first eight issues of MORNING GLORIES sold out and Nick Spencer and Joe Eisma's enigmatic Shadowline series continuing to attract buzz, Image Comics has announced that the trade paperback collection, MORNING GLORIES, VOL. 1: FOR A BETTER FUTURE, has sold through its entire print run.
Written by Spencer with art by Eisma and covers by Rodin Esquejo, MORNING GLORIES has received widespread critical acclaim since launching in September 2010, and attracting some of the most glowing reviews of any Image title since THE WALKING DEAD's illustrious debut. Despite rising initial orders, multiple reprints and an ongoing commitment to overprinting, each issue sells out within days of reaching stores, and now the first trade paperback is continuing that trend.
"The continued success of MORNING GLORIES has been really thrilling for Joe and I," Spencer said. "The amount of support we've received for this book is just amazing, but we're just getting started – we still want more people to read MORNING GLORIES!"
With that in mind, Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson noted that a second printing of MORNING GLORIES, VOL. 1 trade paperback has already been rushed to press in an effort to make the book available to curious new readers as quickly as possible.
"Based on the response to the trade, we knew we wanted to get back to press right away and had already begun working with Shadowline on a new printing," he explained. "Sales velocity exceeded even our wildest imagination, though, and while selling so quickly is nice, we'd rather the book be available."
MORNING GLORIES, VOL. 1: FOR A BETTER FUTURE (DEC100470), a 200-page trade paperback collecting the first six issues of the sold out Shadowline series at the low introductory price of $9.99 is available for re-order now with an in-store date of April 20.

Official Press Release
Respect! Films has released a brand new trailer (over at Wired.com) for the documentary film “Warren Ellis: Captured Ghosts” and is looking for some finishing costs funding via Kickstarter.
“Captured Ghosts” (warrenellismovie.com & twitter.com/ellismovie), the follow-up to the highly acclaimed “Grant Morrison: Talking with Gods,” features the most extensive interview Ellis has ever given. It spans his life, from his first memory watching the moon landing as a child to his recent cross-media success with the film adaptation “Red.” The documentary not only spotlights his iconic persona, it reveals the more nuanced person as well.
Complimenting Ellis’s own words are interviews with his friends, admirers, and artistic collaborators, including Darick Robertson, Joe Quesada, Matt Fraction, Phil Jimenez, Molly Crabapple, Jeff Newelt, and many more.
The film is nearing the end of photography and has exhausted the initial budget, so the filmmakers are reaching out to Warren’s fans for support. The money raised would support post production on the film and also allow the filmmakers to complete some visually-striking interludes that spotlight Ellis’s prose and writing. Please check it out, and consider donating.
The film will launch in September 2011, with a simultaneous, global screening in many cities. A bonus-feature-packed DVD release will follow later in the year, and copies are currently available for pre-order at www.halo8store.com, both as a standalone item and in a bundle with “Grant Morrison: Talking with Gods.”

LAST NIGHT IN TOWN
Turf Concludes with Variant Covers by Dave Gibbons and Michael Kaluta
Berkeley, CA – March 23, 2011 – The best vampire/alien/crime noir epic ever created comes to an end this April with the final issue of TURF, and comic book legends Dave Gibbson and Michael Kaluta are joining creators Jonathan Ross and Tommy Lee Edwards to send the miniseries off in style.
"We've been super lucky so far to have some of our all time favourite artists provide us with incredible variant covers,” proclaimed writer Jonathan Ross, “It's a blast to end the series on such a high, with Dave Gibbons showing us he's still on top of his game and the legendary Michael Kaluta delivering a classic iconic image... for Image!"
"TURF has been such a labor of love for me," added artist Tommy Lee Edwards. "It's really done for people who love comics, and created by people who love comics. I'm so lucky to have grown up a comics fan, and having Michael and Dave and Steranko, Stout, Chang, Lafuente, and all these artists I admire so much grace our covers has been a dream come true."
As one of the artists that will now join that impressive list, Michael Kaluta exclaimed, "I've run out of superlatives! Doing a cover for this book is like going to the Musée d'Orsay to draw from the Toulouse-Lautrec art: I can honor it in my heart and try my best to come up to its standard, but, in the end, I walk away in awe!"
In TURF #5, the final battle has begun. The recently swollen ranks of the Vampire Family commence their endgame in a quest for control over the streets of Manhattan. The city’s cops are firmly in the family pockets and the roots of The First Vampire - The Bloodfather – are ready to be fed with a steady supply of unwilling sacrifices. The former gang boss Eddie Falco has decided to lead a group of reluctant heroes against this growing tide of supernatural horror. But when teamed with Samual Kane and his Uptown Racketeers, the half-human/half-vampire Dragonmir brothers and Squeed the alien, Eddie must face the sobering reality that, when the odds look this grave, such an awkward alliance can only last for so long.
TURF #5 (JUN100473, Kaluta Var Cvr JUN100474 and Gibbons Var Cvr JUN100475), a 40-page full color horror/noir/sci-fi comic book will be in stores April 27, 2011 for $2.99. For more information, visit www.TurfComic.com.

BUTCHER BAKER DESTROYS EXPECTATIONS
First Issue of the Relentless Butcher Baker, The Righteous Maker Sells Out
Berkeley, CA – March, 22, 2011 – After all the buzz surrounding the enigmatic introduction of Joe Casey and Mike Huddleston’s BUTCHER BAKER, THE RIGHTEOUS MAKER, it should come as no surprise that Image Comics has announced the first issue of this uncompromising NSFW title has sold out. A second printing is being rushed into stores for April 13.
BUTCHER BAKER, THE RIGHTEOUS MAKER is a jaded former superhero, lured away from a wanton retirement of rabid excess to once more don his patriotic costume and tie up a significant loose end left hanging from his glory days. Casey’s eruptive characters are expertly crafted while Huddleston provides tongue-in-cheek visual cues pregnant with pop culture reference. As a reviewer at WeeklyCrisis.com stated, BUTCHER BAKER is "full of all the things you didn't know you wanted and never felt safe to ask for.”
Among some of the other rave reviews that BUTCHER BAKER, THE RIGHTEOUS MAKER has inspired, BrokenFrontier.com contrasted it favorably against previous satires of the superhero genre. “What’s different about BUTCHER BAKER is that it’s infused with a good-natured, if sometimes disgusting, sense of humor bordering on the absurd. Everything and everyone is fair game in Casey’s eyes, from late night talk show hosts to flag-wearing super-patriots.”
"It's nice to know there's a healthy amount of readers that are as sick and twisted as I am," said Casey. "Then again, maybe it's just all about Huddleston's art. The best part is, we know this first issue is just the tip of the f***in' iceberg. Wait until you see what's coming next!"
"BUTCHER BAKER is Joe Casey at the top of his already impressive game," added Image Publisher Eric Stephenson. "On top of that, Mike Huddleston is turning in page after page of incredible work that towers over even the best of what he's done before. It's career-defining stuff, really."

About STRANGEWAYS
STRANGEWAYS is the story of ex-Union officer Seth Collins as he wanders the haunted frontier of a United States recovering from the Civil War. Just like the nation, he has his own scars to heal. The west of STRANGEWAYS has its own terrors. Instead of gunslingers and renegades, something more sinister and less human waits in the shadows. The first STRANGEWAYS book, MURDER MOON is currently available through Amazon.com, and of course the web, if you’re patient.
Murder Moon is a thoughtful, intelligent story of brooding werewolves and tough-as-nails cowboys that never lets up on the pace; full of action, pathos and downright fun
– David Wellington, author of Monster Planet and 13 Bullets.
Is Maxwell bringing back the Western AND Suspense-Horror at the same time? Then I’m on board, riding shotgun. Strangeways, here I come!
– Jeff Parker, writer of The Incredible Hulk and Agents of Atlas.
Originally planned as a comic book series, the first STRANGEWAYS book, MURDER MOON was self-published as an original graphic novel after the dissolution of original publisher Speakeasy Comics. Previous to STRANGEWAYS, creator and author Matt Maxwell was best known as a comics commentator. His column “Full Bleed” ran originally at Broken Frontier in the early 2000s and then again at Comics Waiting Room, and occasionally at his own weblog Highway 62 – highway-62.com. He has also written for Robot 6, The Beat, Newsarama and Dark, But Shining.

H.G. WELLS’ LESSER-KNOWN TIME TRAVEL STORY TO BE REVIVED AS GRAPHIC NOVEL
New Baby Productions Adapting Sci-Fi Master’s Obscure “The Chronic Argonauts” Over 120 Years after First Published
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Detroit, Michigan, March 23, 2011 – Publisher New Baby Productions announces that a graphic novel adaptation of H.G. Wells’ short story, “The Chronic Argonauts,” is currently in production. Originally written by a 22-year old Wells, and published by the Royal College of Science in 1888, the story is considered to be the first well-developed use of a “time machine” in science fiction. It predates Wells’ more famous time traveling novel, The Time Machine, by seven years.
“The Chronic Argonauts” begins with the arrival of the mysterious Dr. Moses Nebogipfel to a small Welsh town. The apprehensions of the simple rural folk eventually cause them to storm the inventor's workshop in an effort to avenge perceived witchery. Nebogipfel escapes with one other person, the sympathetic Reverend Elijah Ulysses Cook, in what is later revealed to be a time machine. After having been missing for three weeks, Reverend Cook returns, aged many years older. In recounting his experience, he states that he traveled with Dr. Nebogipfel to the years 4003 and 17901, but does not give any details beyond that. “The story ends there. I think that Wells intended to tell those tales at a later time, but abandoned Cook and Nebogipfel to write The Time Machine,” stated New Baby Publisher, Eric Mullarky, “Over 120 years later, we are finally filling in the gaps and telling the whole story of Nebogipfel and Cook.”
This new adaptation is scripted by writer Jason Quinn. Quinn has written for many UK comic books, including Barbie, Spectacular Spider-Man Adventures, Ben 10 Alien Adventures, and Action Man. He recently wrote the script for the European Ben 10: Live show, and has just published a Victorian murder mystery, The Palace of Wonder. Robin Cruz, Castaway, a graphic novel that he scripted, is due to be published by Campfire Publishing later this year.
Russ Leach and Tyler Smith, relative newcomers to the comic book industry, are providing the art for The Chronic Argonauts. Lettering is being done by Charles Pritchett, an industry veteran. He has lettered many books for Image Comics and IDW Publishing, including Dynamo5, Noble Causes, Eternal Descent, and Husk: The Hollow Planet, and is the co-creator of the upcoming IDW book, The Pound.
Wells’ works, including The War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man, The Island of Doctor Moreau, and aforementioned Time Machine, have been adapted many times over for movies, television, derivative novels, comics, and other mediums. However, “The Chronic Argonauts” is relatively unknown to most. New Baby is hoping to change that. Quinn explains; “This is not just another time travel story, it is the granddaddy of all time travel stories. We have recreated the future, from the perspective of two Victorian adventurers, in a way that I hope is reminiscent of the old pulp magazines and penny dreadfuls, while offering something new and refreshing for a modern audience.” Added Leach; “It manages to be funny, exciting, and thought-provoking without losing that core comic strip tale appeal.”
The Chronic Argonauts is scheduled for a late 2011 release. Project updates will be posted on the project web site, http://www.ChronicArgonauts.com.
New Baby Productions is an independent comic book publisher formed in 2008 by Eric Mullarky with the intent to self-publish his Elemental Fources mini-series. The follow-up, Elemental Fources: Brothers in Arms, was released in 2010.

IDW Brings DOCTOR WHO Comics to iPads, iPhones and PSPs
BBC Worldwide America and IDW Publishing bring DOCTOR WHO comics
to digital audiences worldwide
[Doctor Who comics on the iPad]San Diego, CA (March 19, 2011) – IDW Publishing and BBC Worldwide America have today announced the global digital launch of IDW’s critically acclaimed DOCTOR WHO comic book series. Doctor Who fans worldwide can now follow the Doctor’s comic book adventures on their Apple iPads and iPhones, and Sony PSPs, along with IDW Publishing’s entire catalog of DOCTOR WHO comics, which is now out in digital form.
One of BBC Worldwide’s most successful franchises and the longest running science-fiction television series in the world, Doctor Who follows the adventures of the Doctor, the mysterious traveler who, with his human companions, journeys throughout all of time and space, facing a variety of foes and righting wrongs. IDW’s extensive catalog of DOCTOR WHO comics features both original stories and reprints of classic adventures. Currently, IDW’s DOCTOR WHO brings readers all-new adventures of the Eleventh Doctor that augment the on-screen excitement.
“We’re excited to bring out DOCTOR WHO comics on the PSP, as it’s a perfect comic for the game audience,” stated Jeff Webber, IDW’s director of ePublishing. “For Apple devices, while all of the issues are also available in our IDW Comics app for our regular readers, there are many ravenous DOCTOR WHO fans that may not be familiar with the comics. So we created a stand-alone DOCTOR WHO Comics app that lets us feature the Doctor at the top level of the app store, offering users worldwide a completely focused experience.”
Ed Casey, Director of Licensing, BBC Worldwide America, who brokered the deal, said: “DOCTOR WHO fans are loyal and passionate and I’m sure they’ll love the fact that they can now get their [Doctor Who comics on the PSP]favorite Time Lord in this 21st century format.”
Prior to this digital launch, IDW’s DOCTOR WHO comics were only available in print in North America. Available to international readers for the first time, DOCTOR WHO digital series presently includes over forty issues, with more added each month. The full catalog is available for iPads and iPhones as a custom branded app, and as individual issues on the PSP.
Added Webber, “Plus, it’s just awesomely fun to build an app that keeps the look and feel of something that could be a part of the TARDIS itself. It’s just possible that the app might start pulling in comics from the future that haven’t even been created yet!”
Doctor Who returns to BBC AMERICA screens in the U.S. on Saturday, April 23.

RAY FAWKES EXPLORES EIGHTEEN LIVES IN ONE SOUL
In the most ambitious book Oni Press has ever published, cartoonist Ray Fawkes tells the stories of eighteen individuals throughout history whose entire lives unfold simultaneously on the pages of his new graphic novel, ONE SOUL. Comprised entirely of double page spreads split into eighteen panels with each panel featuring one character's life, Ray Fawkes has artfully crafted eighteen linear stories into one non-linear masterpiece. ONE SOUL reaches comic shops and book stores July 2011.
“Part of what's so amazing about ONE SOUL is that it can really only be done in comics,” said editor in chief James Lucas Jones. “Initially you'll read the book as you would any other comic, panel to panel, page to page, to get one story. But you're also reading eighteen separate stories. Reading ONE SOUL is an indescribable experience.”
"They're all very different," Fawkes said of the characters in ONE SOUL, who cover a spectrum of classes, religions, and careers. "You could read them separately, read their lives one panel at a time, but when you put them together and see their differences and their common points, you catch a glimpse of a greater scope. The characters, through their frustrations and triumphs, are asking and answering big questions and, in a way, in cartooning ONE SOUL, I'm trying to do the same for myself."
ONE SOUL is slated for a July 2011 release. Written and illustrated by Ray Fawkes, ONE SOUL features 176 pages in an oversized hardcover format with book design by famed comic artist Matt Kindt (SUPER SPY).
