Godzilla Faces The Fiery Inferno Of Hell Itself!
Abandon All Hope…

San Diego, CA (March 27, 2015) – In over six decades of battles and triumphs, Godzilla has never faced a challenge as great as what’s coming his way this July, when Godzilla goes to hell! In Godzilla in Hell, a five-issue miniseries launching in July, Godzilla will storm through the gates of hell itself, proving that the towering behemoth is King Of The Monsters both above and below!

With no warning and no sign of salvation, Godzilla is plummeted to the deepest, darkest bowels of the infernal kingdom. The mystery of what led to Godzilla’s damnation, and what it will face, will take readers on a dark and twisted journey unlike any Godzilla story before!

A rotating creative team will each take Godzilla through a new and more dangerous layer of Hell, beginning with none other than writer and artist James Stokoe, who is returning to the character for the first time since his haunting stunner of a miniseries, Godzilla: The Half Century War.

“Drawing Godzilla must be my comfort food, because it feels really great to come back and work on pages with IDW again,” said Stokoe, writer and artist on issue 1. “Also, the list of amazing creators they've tapped for this series beyond my issue feels equally great as a fan, especially with the theme everyone gets to play with. You can't get much bigger than Godzilla versus Hell!“

Successive issues in this five-part series will feature talents familiar to the Godzilla franchise, including the multi-talented writer/artists Bob Eggleton; and Dave Wachter; Wachter most recently wrapped up the apocalyptic take on Godzilla in Godzilla: Cataclysm.

New to the world of Godzilla will be writers Ulises Farinas, and Erick Freitas, together on issue #3 and Brandon Seifert, tackling issue #4; artists will be announced on these issues at a later time.

"I'm very proud with the level of quality we've brought to all of our Godzilla mini-series,” said editor Bobby Curnow. "Godzilla in Hell will prove no exception. It's been incredibly fun seeing the creator's imagination stretch to fully utilize this otherworldly premise."

This explosive new series will join a number of other major debuts in July as part of the Five Featured Firsts program, which launches a brand new title each and every week in July. Additionally, the debut issue will feature an EC Comics homage variant cover by Godzilla: Rulers of Earth artist Jeff Zornow as part of EC Cover Month!

Richard Matheson’s The Shrinking Man
Comes To Life At IDW This July
“The Unbelievably Small And The Unbelievably Vast Eventually Meet”

San Diego, CA (March 27, 2015) – IDW Publishing is proud to announce the comic-book adaption of the late Richard Matheson’s seminal science fiction novel, The Shrinking Man. Ted Adams, IDW’s CEO & Publisher, is adapting the material, alongside artist Mark Torres.

Matheson’s exploration of withering manhood and social norms is brought to vivid life in this 4-issue series. To further emphasize the series’ classic appeal, the debut issue will be a part of IDW’s month-long “EC Comics cover month” promotion. The Shrinking Man #1 will be one of a dozen IDW titles getting a variant cover that pays tribute to the classic EC Comics cover designs from the 1950s. The Shrinking Man #1’s homage to Al Feldstein’s brilliant Weird Science #12 from the June 1950 cover is also being drawn by series artist Mark Torres.

Originally published in 1956, The Shrinking Man has been adapted into a motion picture and won the 1958 Hugo award for best science fiction/fantasy dramatic presentation. This legendary tale chronicles the events of an average family man, Scott Carey, who, after being exposed to a mysterious cloud, comes to the frightening realization that he is shrinking slowly day-by-day. His everyday existence as a husband and father is thrown into chaos as he struggles with not just shrinking smaller and smaller but with the possibility that he may disappear all together. All ideas of normal fade as Carey becomes a national spectacle and his family converts into unreachable giants. He is pushed to the very limits of fear and existence with each passing day becoming a struggle just to survive.

“Running IDW keeps me busy so I don't have as much time to write as I'd like but when we decided to adapt Matheson's classic novel, I knew I had to find the time,” said Adams. “This isn't just a great adventure story, it's also an exploration into what it means to be a man when you can no longer provide for or protect your family.”

The Shrinking Man, part of IDW’s Five Featured Firsts, which sees a new series launching each of the five Wednesdays in July, takes its place alongside other IDW/Matheson collaborations including I Am Legend, Hell House, numerous short stories including the Eisner-nominated “Blood Son,” and Duel. Grab your copy before the stacks wither away at your local comics shop!

STRING DIVERS LOOM LARGE AT IDW
Team of Micro-Bots Launches in August In Partnership
with Ashley Wood’s 3A Toys

San Diego, CA (March 27, 2015) – Acclaimed artist/designer Ashley Wood is preparing to launch his latest comic-book project at IDW this summer with String Divers, a comic series blending a team of robot adventures and string-theory physics! String Divers, directed and overseen by Wood and written by Wood’s Zombies vs. Robots co-creator Chris Ryall, features stunning artwork by Nelson Daniel and a concept that grows bigger the smaller it gets!

Spun out of Ashley Wood’s 3A Toys’ line of titular figures, String Divers incorporates string theory as threats to our universe at the sub-microscopic level have dire and lasting repercussions in our universe and across all dimensions.

“A chance to combine high adventure on a scale both bigger and smaller than what I’ve done before is appealing enough,” said writer/IDW Chief Creative Officer Chris Ryall, “but a chance to again work with Ash Wood and Nelson Daniel on a series packed with crazy action, mis-applied theoretical physics and micro-scale intrigue that affects the larger universe being built here is about as fun as comics gets.”

Ashley Wood will be providing story direction, concept design, art direction and covers for String Divers. Wood and Ryall are joined by Nelson Daniel, fresh off a long run on IDW’s Judge Dredd, on art. Daniel, who previously partnered with Ryall on the Stephen King/Joe Hill project, Road Rage, will again be providing art and colors on both interiors and variant covers of each issue.

“It’s always a pleasure to work with IDW and Chris,” said String Divers creator and toy designer Ashley Wood. “String Divers is just the first in a series of comics that sees IDW and 3A combine forces!”

String Divers #1, a 32-page, $3.99 comic, launches in August!

ONYX LANDS AT IDW THIS SUMMER
New Science-Fiction Series by the Co-Creators of Locke & Key and
Zombies vs. Robots Arrives in July

San Diego, CA (March 27th, 2015) – Chris Ryall and Gabriel Rodriguez, the award-winning creators of series such as Locke & Key and Zombies vs. Robots are releasing their first co-creation, Onyx, this summer.

Onyx tells the tale of a female metal-suited warrior who comes to Earth on a quest to either save the planet or destroy it. It’s up to a team of super-soldiers to figure out which before it’s too late, and before a much greater threat overwhelms both them and the planet itself.

Comics readers will be introduced to Onyx in a standalone 5-page story, Onyx #0, that will be included as a free bonus story in many of IDW’s May titles, including The Transformers, Dirk Gently, Star Trek, and many others. This five-pager by Ryall and Rodriguez introduces the character in a deep space setting and serves to set the table for the adventures to follow in July’s Onyx #1 and beyond.

“Gabriel and I are excited to release Onyx into
the wild, and even more excited to give readers and retailers alike this advance look at the character in Onyx #0,” said Chris Ryall, also IDW’s Chief Creative Officer. “That allows for a nice, risk-free way for people to take a look at her during the ordering period for Onyx #1. And it puts even more phenomenal Gabriel Rodriguez artwork out into the world, which is always a good thing.”

Onyx #1 (of 4) will feature a unique cover plan to help kick it off, too. In addition to Rodriguez’s stunning cover image, Onyx #1 will also feature covers by Ryall’s ZvR co-creator Ashley Wood, a “plush” version of the character by Charles Paul Wilson III, an EC Comics homage cover as part of IDW’s EC Comics tribute month by Alan Robinson, and an incentive cover by Sal Buscema.

“To jump into an action packed sci-fi adventure is something I've been hoping for a chance to do for years,” said Gabriel Rodriguez, “and to have the opportunity to share this wild trip with longtime friend and collaborator Chris Ryall, with a creation of our own, is the perfect way to do it. And not only as we’re trying a creative work approach that’s both new and challenging for both of us, but also because I think we've found a powerful character to give proper voice to lots of exciting ideas we want to explore. And I’m additionally enthusiastic about the visual feast this story is daring me to provide.”

Ryall and Rodriguez have previously partnered on multiple comic series: Clive Barker’s The Great and Secret Show, George A. Romero’s Land of the Dead, and Beowulf, but this is the first time they’ve created an all-new title together. For Rodriguez, Onyx follows his work on the acclaimed, Eisner-winning series Locke & Key with writer Joe Hill, and the just-concluded Little Nemo: Return to Slumberland with writer Eric Shanower.

Ryall added a final note about partnering with Rodriguez once again. “Working with Gabriel again is such a reminder—every page from him on every project is a similar reminder—that there’s nothing in the world (or the universe, as we’ll see) that he can’t bring to vivid life on the comics page. This project is a true collaboration, with us each building the story and the pages from the ground up, and it’s been a blast to see Gabe take more of a hand in the storytelling, too. I see big things in this kid’s future… if only Onyx can help secure that future for us all, that is.”

Onyx #1, one of IDW’s Five Featured Firsts in July which welcomes a new #1 issue each week of the month!

Return for Second Season to Begin Production in April

LOS ANGELES, March 26, 2015 – WGN America announced today that William Petersen (“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”) has joined the cast of its critically acclaimed drama “Manhattan,” marking his return to television after his celebrated Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated 10-year run as Dr. Gilbert ‘Gil’ Grissom in the hit series “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.”  Produced by Lionsgate Television, Skydance Television and Tribune Studios, “Manhattan” will begin production on its second season in New Mexico in April for a 2015 debut on WGN America.

Petersen will play Colonel Emmett Darrow, the enigmatic new ranking military officer at Los Alamos, as a series regular for season two.  A deeply religious and patriotic man, Darrow feels called by God to usher in the atomic future, and to spread American values across the globe.

The ensemble cast of “Manhattan” includes Emmy®-nominated actor John Benjamin Hickey (“The Big C,” “The Good Wife”) as Frank Winter; Olivia Williams (“Rushmore,” “The Ghost Writer”) as Liza Winter; Daniel Stern (“Home Alone,” “Home Alone 2”) as Glen Babbit; Ashley Zukerman (“Rush”) as Charlie Isaacs; Rachel Brosnahan (“House of Cards”) as Abby Isaacs; Katja Herbers (“De Storm”) as Helen Prins; Alexia Fast (“Jack Reacher”) as Callie Winter; Christopher Denham (“Argo,” “Shutter Island”) as Jim Meeks; Harry Lloyd (“Game of Thrones”) as Paul Crosley; and Michael Chernus (“The Big C,” “Orange Is The New Black”) as Louis “Fritz” Fedowitz.

The series follows the brilliant but flawed scientists and their families in Los Alamos as they attempt to coexist in a world where secrets and lies infiltrate every aspect of their lives.

“Manhattan” recently won the 2015 SXSW Jury Award for Excellence in Title Design, besting 22 other film and television finalists.  Dan Gregoras, Creative Director at Imaginary Forces, illustrated the winning title design.  Additionally, the series’ Director of Photography, John Lindley, won the American Society of Cinematographers’ Outstanding Achievement Award in a Television Movie, Miniseries, or Pilot for his work on the premiere episode of the series, “You Always Hurt the One You Love.”

On April 11th & 12th, NBM Publishing (Tables 401, 402) once again heads to the MoCCA Arts Festival and we are happy to have attending both cartoonist Annie Goetzinger, who will be appearing to promote the debut of her luscious new book, GIRL IN DIOR and writer Julian Voloj who will be signing copies of his book, the powerful GHETTO BROTHER: WARRIOR TO PEACEMAKER along with the colorful subject of the book, Benjy Melendez.
About Girl in Dior

http://nbmpub.com/comicslit/dior/press/dior_300.jpg

The Girl in Dior is Clara, a freshly hired chronicler, fan of fashion and our guide in the busy corridors of the brand new house of Christian Dior. It’s February 12, 1947 and the crème de la crème of Paris Haute Couture is flocking to the momentous event of Dior’s first show. In a flurry of corolla shaped skirts, the parade of models file down the runway. The audience is mesmerized: it’s a triumph! Carmel Snow of Harper’s Bazaar cries out: “It's quite a revolution, your dresses have such a new look!“ Dior’s career is launched and Clara’s story begins. Soon, she is picked by Dior himself to be his model…

A biography docudrama marrying fiction and the story of one of the greatest couturier in history, it is also a breathless and stunning presentation of his best designs such as Lauren Bacall wore, rendered by bestselling artist Annie Goetzinger, seen for the first time on this side of the Atlantic.

About Ghetto Brother

http://nbmpub.com/comicslit/ghetto_brothers/press/ghetto_300.jpg

An engrossing and counter view of one of the most dangerous elements of American urban history, this graphic novel tells the true story of Benjy Melendez, son of Puerto-Rican immigrants, who founded, at the end of the 1960s, the notorious Ghetto Brothers gang. From the seemingly bombed-out ravages of his neighborhood, wracked by drugs, poverty, and violence, he managed to extract an incredibly positive energy from this riot ridden era: his multiracial gang promoted peace rather than violence. After initiating a gang truce, the Ghetto Brothers held weekly concerts on the streets or in abandoned buildings, which fostered the emergence of hip-hop. Melendez also began to reclaim his Jewish roots after learning about his family’s dramatic crypto-Jewish background.

STRINGERS
MARC GUGGENHEIM, JUSTIN GREENWOOD AND RYAN HILL DELIVER AN ACTION-PACKED NEW MINISERIES ABOUT CRIME, CORRUPTION AND THE PERFECT SHOT

PORTLAND, OR March 26th, 2015 - Oni Press, Portland’s premier independent comic book publisher, announced today Stringers, a tense, action-filled new series set in the world of Los Angeles’ freelance news reporting. Written by Marc Guggenheim (Arrow), illustrated by Justin Greenwood (Stumptown, The Fuse) and colored by Ryan Hill (Rick and Morty, Terrible Lizard), Stringers will release on August 5th.

Paul and Nick are the guys who shoot the news. Filming car chases, fires, and shootouts in their busted-up rig, they put their (uninsured, unsalaried) lives on the line every night so that the good citizens of Los Angeles can get their daily update. But when a firefight between the LAPD and the MS-13 goes wrong, Paul and Nick find themselves on the run.

“I’m excited beyond words that this long-gestating project is finally coming to fruition, and doing so brilliantly,” said writer Marc Guggenheim. “Justin and I had such a blast working together on Resurrection at Oni Press that I wanted to create something new just for him and he’s knocked it clean out of the park with jazzy visuals that really capture the concept’s humor and breakneck pacing.  We both couldn’t be more thrilled to be back at our home for creator owned projects, where our first collaboration, Resurrection, began.”

When the outlanders abandoned a baby girl on the outskirts of a village, few imagined that she would grow up to marry into the illustrious Akakuchiba family, much less that she would develop clairvoyant abilities and become matriarch of the illustrious ironworking clan. Her daughter shocks the village further by joining a motorcycle gang and becoming a famous manga artist. The outlander’s granddaughter Toko—well, she’s nobody at all. A nobody worth entrusting with the secret that her grandmother was a murderer. This is Toko’s story
.
“Toko Akakuchiba is an ordinary woman, from an extraordinary family.  When Toko sits to write her family history, she uncovers the truth about her grandmother’s past, and the woman’s clairvoyant powers,” says Nick Mamatas, Editor. “Author Kazuki Sakuraba skillfully creates an atmospheric multi-generational saga set amidst the turmoil of Japan’s postwar era. Readers will be swept up in the engrossing story of this legendary clan!"

Author Kazuki Sakuraba was born in 1971 and began publishing while still in college. Her early Gosick light novels were bestsellers and her adult fiction is also popular and acclaimed throughout Japan. RED GIRLS: THE LEGEND OF THE AKAKUCHIBAS won the Mystery Writers of Japan Award in 2007 and Watashi no otoko, a suspense novel about an incestuous relationship, won the Naoki Prize for popular fiction in 2008.
