VIZ MEDIA PREMIERES ONE-PUNCH MAN ANIME ACTION SERIES SIMULCAST

New Anime Series By Studio MADHOUSE About A Superhero With A Knockout Punch Streams On The Same Day As Japanese Broadcast Premiere – Catch Episode 1 On October 4th!

San Francisco, CA, October 1, 2015 – VIZ Media, LLC (VIZ Media), the largest publisher, distributor and licensor of manga and anime in North America, invites audiences to catch the knuckle-busting premiere of the ONE-PUNCH MAN anime simulcast – this Sunday, October 4th!

Presented with English subtitles on the same day as its Japanese network broadcast premiere, Episode 1 introduces an action-packed story about an average-guy-turned-superhero who packs a knockout punch. New episodes of the series will debut each Sunday. ONE-PUNCH MAN will be available to U.S. audiences on-demand on VIZ.com and Hulu.

ONE-PUNCH MAN is based on the bestselling manga series (also published by VIZ Media; rated ‘T for Teens), created by writer ONE and artist Yusuke Murata. The anime series was animated by the renowned Japanese studio, Madhouse, and helmed by famed anime director, Shingo Natsume, (Space Dandy, Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos), and features character designs by Chikashi Kubota (From the New World, Robotics:notes).

In ONE-PUNCH MAN, Saitama is a hero who only became a hero for fun. After three years of “special” training, though, he’s become so strong that he’s practically invincible. In fact, he’s too strong—even his mightiest opponents are taken out with a single punch, and it turns out that being devastatingly powerful is actually kind of a bore. With his passion for being a hero lost along with his hair, yet still faced with new enemies every day, how much longer can he keep it going?

“ONE-PUNCH MAN is one of the most highly anticipated anime shows of 2015 and we are very excited to add the hard hitting new action adventure to our roster and launch the series to domestic as well as international fans on the same day as broadcast premiere in Japan,” says Brian Ige, VIZ Media Vice President Animation. “The bestselling manga series has established a fervent and fast growing fan base for ONE-PUNCH MAN and we look forward to awareness spreading to legions of new fans with the launch of the anime series. Catch the butt-kicking first episode this weekend!”

Manga creator ONE began ONE-PUNCH MAN as a web comic, which quickly went viral and garnered over 10 million hits. Japanese manga publisher (and VIZ Media parent company) Shueisha eventually secured the publishing rights to the series which has sold more than 4.5 million copies to-date. In addition to ONE-PUNCH MAN, ONE writes and draws the series Mob Psycho 100 and Makai no Ossan.

Yusuke Murata is a highly acclaimed and skilled manga artist best known for his work on the football series, EYESHIELD 21 (also published in North America by VIZ Media). In 1995, Murata won the prestigious 122nd Hop Step Award for his series, Partner, and placed second in 1998 in the semi-annual Akatsuka Awards for Samui Hanashi.

NAILBITER CHURNS OUT NEW STORY ARC

Writer Joshua Williamson (GHOSTED, BIRTHRIGHT) and artist Mike Henderson (Venom, Carnage) will launch a new story arc in their hit horror series NAILBITER this November.
Previously in NAILBITER, NSA agent Nicholas Finch found himself roped into the mystery of Buckaroo, Oregon, where sixteen of the world’s vilest serial killers were spawned, only to find his colleague mutilated and thus unable to share his theory. The only person who seemed capable of shedding some light on this dark mystery was the monstrous Nailbiter himself—and Finch is a man who knows how to make people talk.
In NAILBITER #17, it appears there’s a new serial killer in town.
Nailbiter #17 is the start of a brand new story arc that pushes the mystery forward in big ways. Finch, Crane, Barker, Alice, Warren, and Carroll suffered heavy losses in the last arc and have scattered,” said Williamson. “This arc we've nicknamed ‘The Devil went down to Georgia,’ and it highlights a NEW SERIAL KILLER! A brutal and demented serial killer is on the loose in Atlanta, Georgia...is the killer from Buckaroo? Is it the new Buckaroo Butcher?” He added, “And this arc opens with probably our most violent and horrific scene yet! This whole arc is building to something HUGE in Nailbiter.”
“We're finally back to the bloody mystery of Warren, and Crane goes Lone Ranger on the town of Buckaroo while Finch is away,” said Henderson. “This is probably our wildest story arc, and if it makes even one reader squirm or say ‘ew’ out loud as much as I did while drawing it, I'll mark it down as a win. And we're just getting started.”
NAILBITER #17 (Diamond code SEP150511) hits stores Wednesday, November 4th. Final order cutoff deadline for retailers is Monday, October 12th.

October 1, 2015 (Los Angeles, Calif.) - He is a man with many names: Sinterklaas, Kris Kringle, Saint Nicholas. He has international fame, but only ever appears once a year to defy physics and commit the greatest act of breaking-and-entering known to man. Santa Claus is one of the oldest and most beloved icons around the world, but he’s rarely thought of as a “superhero.” This November, Grant Morrison (The Multiversity, All-Star Superman, Batman), one of the most prolific writers in comics, teams up with homegrown BOOM! Studios artist Dan Mora (Hexed) to change the way we view Jolly Old Saint Nick in the original limited series Klaus.

Set in a dark fantastic past of myth and magic, Klaus tells the story of how Santa Claus really came to be. Where did he begin? What was he like when he was young? And what happens when he faces his greatest challenge? Drawing on Santa Claus’ wilder roots in Viking lore and Siberian shamanism—taking in the creepier side of Christmas, and characters like the sinister Krampus—Klaus is “SantaClaus: Year One.”

Klaus is the story of our hero’s greatest challenge and how he overcame it,” said
Morrison. “This is the tale of one man and his wolf against a totalitarian state and the ancient evil that sustains it. Part action thriller, part sword-and-sorcery, part romance, part science fiction, Klaus has given us free rein to revamp, reinvent and re-imagine a classic superhero for the 21st century. He’s making a list and he’s checking it twice. This Christmas it’s all about psychedelic shamanism, anti-authoritarian guerrilla gift-giving, and the jingle bells of freedom!”

“Grant has injected new life into superheroes time and again over the course of his career, so when he said he wanted to reinvent Santa Claus into a powerful rebel hero, we were immediately onboard,” said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon. “This is a huge subject to tackle; everyone knows some version of Santa Claus. Grant has taken the coolest and creepiest parts of the Santa Claus legends from all over the world and molded it into a story that’s mythic and full of visceral wonder. It takes a talented artist to keep up with Grant’s ideas, and I can tell you that Dan Mora is not only up to the task, but has run wild with this story.”

Klaus #1 (of 6) arrives in comic shops on November 4th with a main cover by series artist Dan Mora for the price of $3.99 under Diamond order code SEP151100. Also available in a limited quality is a 10 Years incentive cover by Felipe Smith (All-New Ghost Rider), a Jackpot variant cover by Frazer Irving (2000 AD), and a retailer incentive cover by Chris Burnham (Batman Incorporated).
The Final Order Cutoff deadline for retailers is October 12th. Not sure where to find your nearest comic retailer? Use comicshoplocator.com or findacomicshop.com to find one! It’s also available for order directly from boom-studios.com.

September 30, 2015 (Los Angeles, Calif.) - Pull on a costume and carve some pumpkins, because Halloween is in the air in the Land of Ooo! Well...actually, it’s summertime in Ooo, but that doesn’t mean it’s not going to be spooky! This October, KaBOOM!, an award-winning imprint of publisher BOOM! Studios, and Cartoon Network Enterprises, the licensing and merchandising arm of the network, get into the holiday spirit with a self-contained story about our favorite Vampire Queen, Marceline, in the 48-page one-shot Adventure Time 2015 SpOooktacular!

Hanna K. is a rad storyboard artist for the Adventure Time animated series, and now she’s writing and illustrating an oversized special that takes place before Marceline became the music-loving, bass-playing Vampire Queen. If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about Marcie before she was the vampire we know and love today, now’s your chance to dive into her past!

“It’s always a treat when we get the chance to learn more about our favorite characters, and Marceline’s backstory is a doozy!” said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon. “What better way to celebrate Halloween than with the spookiest gal in Ooo? And with the talented Hanna K. behind the wheel, we’re in for a wild ride!”

Adventure Time 2015 SpOooktacular arrives in comic shops on October 28th with a main cover by Chrystin Garland for the price of $4.99 under Diamond order code AUG151207. Also available in a limited quantity is a retailer incentive cover by Emily Partridge.
