ComicBlitz Launches on Android as its Equity Crowdfunding Campaign Targets $100K
Over 200 individual comic fans have become investors in the popular startup

April 6, 2017 (Los Angeles, CA) — Today ComicBlitz, a rapidly-growing digital subscription service that offers unlimited access to comics, is launching its Android app.  The all-you-can-eat comics startup is also announcing today that over 200 individual investors have participated in its equity crowdfunding campaign, and have collectively contributed nearly $100K. The WeFunder campaign, intentionally designed for comic fans who want to contribute small amounts to participate in the company’s growth, is set to close on April 29.
“Our fans and new investors have been clamoring for service to be available on Android, and we’ve spent months in beta to bring it to them,” ComicBlitz CEO Jordan Plosky said. “We’re looking forward to fan feedback as they experience our service on Android, and enjoy our wide variety of digital comics on their mobile devices.”
Currently, ComicBlitz offers consumers full and unlimited on the go access to more than 4,500 comics and graphic novels representing more than 750 titles from publishers such as IDW, Valiant, Top Cow, Dynamite, Action Lab, Zenescope, Aspen, Abrams ComicArts, DMC Comics and many others.  The premium monthly subscription price for the full comic library is $7.99.
The WeFunder campaign which wraps up at the end of this month gives enthusiasts the ability to not only invest in something they care about, but get direct lines of communication with the top decision makers.  The investments will be used to strike deals with other top key publishers and to continuously improve the overall consumer features. 
ComicBlitz, headquartered in Los Angeles, is an “all you can eat” subscription service for digital comics. It’s now available on both Android and iOS. DENVER – April 7, 2017 – Twenty years ago, audiences were dazzled by the visionary images and epic adventure of The Fifth Element.” To celebrate the 20th anniversary of director Luc Besson’s groundbreaking film, Fathom Events and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will present a 4K restoration of the film in movie theaters nationwide for two days only, on Sunday, May 14 and Wednesday, May 17 at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. (local time) both days. Following its two-day-only theatrical presentation, “The Fifth Element” will debut on 4K Ultra HD July 11.

As an added bonus, the theatrical presentation will also offer audiences a brand-new, exclusive look at Besson’s upcoming film, “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets,” which opens in theaters nationwide July 21, 2017. This new film stars Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne as special operatives who must protect the astonishing city of Alpha from a marauding menace that threatens not just the city but the future of the universe. Besson both directed and wrote “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets,” as he did the enormously influential “The Fifth Element.”

New Anime Series Depicts The Adventures Of Naruto’s Rebellious Son; Also Catch The Home Media Release Of BORUTO: NARUTO THE MOVIE And The Debut Of The BORUTO Manga Series

VIZ Media invites audiences to catch the premiere of BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS in a special simulcast on Hulu on April 5th, the same day the series premieres in Japan.

The new series focuses on the adventures of the son of the celebrated ninja. Episodes of BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS will be available to stream at: New subtitled episodes will premiere weekly on Wednesdays.

Amy Jo Johnson: A film maker, musician and actor most known for her role as Kimberly Hart in the series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Julie Emrick on the series Felicity, and Jules Callaghan on the award-winning series Flashpoint. Johnson recently launched her debut feature film The Space Between.
Anthony Michael Hall: Known for his roles as Farmer Ted in Sixteen Candles and Brian Johnson in The Breakfast Club, Hall went on to become the youngest cast member in history on Saturday Night Live.
Barbara Eden: Named one of America’s 200 Greatest Pop Icons of the 20th Century, Eden is best known for her role as Jeannie on NBC’s I Dream of Jeannie television series which ran for five seasons. Eden’s memoir Jeannie Out of The Bottle was recently published and debuted as No. 14 on the New York Times Best Seller List.
Big Van Vader: Known for his early wrestling career in Japan, Big Van Vader went on to also beat competitors throughout Europe and Mexico and eventually, leading him to three World Heavyweight Championships. Following his WWE career, Big Van Vader returned to All Japan Pro Wrestling to form a tag team with Stan Hansen.
Dave Gibbons: A British comic book drawer and writer who has worked with comic publishers around the world. Some of his work includes: Doctor Who, Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Captain America, Doctor Strange, Hulk, Predator and Aliens.
Herbert Jefferson Jr.: An American film, television and stage actor best known for his role as Lieutenant Boomer on the original Battlestar Galactica TV series. Jefferson also appeared as Roy Dwyer in Rich Man, Poor Man and its sequel Rich Man, Poor Man Book II, Maxwell Fall in Emmy Award winning series The Law, Muntzy in Knight Rider (1982), among others.
Ilan Mitchell Smith: An American academic and former actor best known as the co-star in Weird Science, Smith has also appeared in The Wild Life, The Chocolate War and Superboy. For the past 35 years, Smith has been a role-player/Dungeon Master, Miniatures gamer and Indie/Board gamer.
John Barrowman: Singer, dancer, host and actor best known for his role as Malcolm Merlyn in the series Arrow. Barrowman’s Malcolm Merlyn character has made guest appearances in The Flash as well as on the CW’s Reign. He has hosted ABC’s Sing Your Face Off, among other major events.
Josh McDermitt: Comedian and star of AMC’s The Walking Dead, McDermitt made his television debut on NBC’s Last Comic Standing in 2006. He was casted in TV movie Rehab for Rejects and as Brandon on Retired at 35. McDermitt can also be seen in Middle Man and Odious.
Karolyn Grimes: As a child actor, Grimes became best known for her role as Zuzu on the film It’s a Wonderful Life. Grimes currently serves as the unofficial ambassador for the film, traveling the world and speaking at screenings, benefits, conventions, etc.
Kelly Le Brock: An American actress and model known for her acting debut in The Woman in Red. She also appeared in Weird Science, Hard to Kill, Betrayal of the Dove, Tracks of a Killer and Hard Bounty.
Khary Payton: Known as King Ezekiel on AMC’s The Walking Dead and Aqualad in Young Justice. Payton has been a voice actor for characters such as DC comic book hero Cyborg, Specialist Wasabi from Big Hero 6: The Series, Grimlock from Transformers: Robots in Disguise, Azrael & Killer Croc in the Batman: Arkham franchise, among others.
Kristy Swanson: Known for her appearances in Pretty in Pink, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992), Big Daddy, Knots Landing (1987-1988), Nightingales (1989) and B.L. Stryker (1989), among others.
Lou Ferrigno: Ferrigno is most known as playing the “Hulk” in the CBS series The Incredible Hulk. He has also appeared in other television shows, such as the CBS series The King of Queens and the film I Love You, Man.
Marky Ramone: Best known as the drummer (and last living member) of the legendary punk rock band the Ramones. In 2002, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and since then has been featured in the comic book TV series Killogy and appears in Killogy: The Animated Series.
Mena Suvari: Dubbed by People Weekly as an “All-American Girl,” Suvari is known for her film debuts in Nowhere, the American Pie film series and American Beauty. She also appeared in Loser, Spun, Rumor Has It, Domino, American Horror Story (2011), among others.
Michael Rooker: Best known as the blue-skinned alien Yondu Udonta in Guardians of the Galaxy, a role he will reprise in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2; and his role as Merle Dixon on The Walking Dead.
Rob Schneider: An American actor, comedian, screenwriter and director known for his sketch comedy series on Saturday Night Live as well as his starring comedy roles in Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, The Hot Chick, The Benchwarmers and Grown Ups, among many others.
Robin Lord Taylor: Dubbed as “favorite breakout star of television,” Taylor is best known as Oswald Cobblepot or The Penguin on Gotham. Known for his role as Sam on The Walking Dead, and as Abernathy Darwin Dunlap in Accepted.
Ron Perlman: With a career spanning over three decades, Perlman has worked alongside diverse actors like Marlon Brando, Sean Connery, Dominique Pinon, Brad Dourif, Ed Harris, John Hurt, Jude Law, Christina Ricci, Federico Luppi, Sigourney Weaver, Michael Wincott and Elijah Wood. Wil Wheaton: An actor, writer and voice actor known for his roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Flubber, The Guild, Eureka, and The Big Bang Theory. He also appeared in Stand by Me, Toy Soldiers and Criminal Minds, among others.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – AMC has released a first-look teaser of the highly-anticipated second season of “Preacher," which debuted in last night's season finale of "The Walking Dead." The teaser can be viewed at: (embed below). Season two of AMC’s critically-acclaimed, supernatural series “Preacher” returns with a two-night event, beginning with the season premiere on Sunday, June 25th at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, followed by the second episode on Monday, June 26th at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, in the series' regular time slot.  

The expanded second season, consisting of 13 episodes, is a genre-bending thrill ride that follows West Texas preacher Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip (Academy Award® nominee Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) as they embark on a road trip to find God and are thrust into a twisted battle spanning Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between.

IDW Publishing In The News at WonderCon
San Diego, CA (April 3, 2017) – That’s a wrap on WonderCon 2017! IDW Publishing exhibited this weekend in Anaheim and made its presence known with multiple panels, round-the-clock booth signings, and some big announcements.

Here's a rundown of the major highlights and what you may have missed:

Gabriel Rodriguez’s next project, Sword of Ages, a creator-owned comic series that he will both write and illustrate. It will be a 5-issue series that will reimagine the Excalibur story and what Rodriguez describes as his love letter to fantasy/sci-fi adventures.
A forthcoming graphic novel focusing on Star Trek’s George Takei will explore his upbringing in a Japanese American internment camp during WWII and how that impacted his activism today.

Black Crown editor Shelly Bond dropped some news revealing the title and creative team of the debut series from her upcoming imprint – Kid Lobotomy by Peter Milligan and Tess Fowler.

Announced during the TMNT panel, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Usagi Yojimbo will once again cross paths with Usagi Yojimbo creator, Stan Sakai, both writing and drawing. More than two decades since their last crossover, IDW is excited to partner with Dark Horse Comics on this special one-shot.

Ominous Press is joining forces with IDW to publish their line of comics, beginning with Dread Gods. Ominous is a collaboration by industry veterans Bart Sears, Ron Marz, Sean HusVar, and Andy Smith, bringing their unique brand of comics to a wider audience in collaboration with IDW.

News that IDW would become the first comics publisher to have a comics app on the XBOX was made public. Download the app now and get ten graphic novels free for trying it out.

A new trailer for the hit Syfy series Wynonna Earp dropped over the weekend and it was also recently announced that Season Two will begin airing on June 9. The entire first season is now available to stream on Netflix.

The Infinite Loop is set to return from the creative team of Pierrick Colinet and Elsa Charretier revealing the first piece of art from the new arc, “Nothing But The Truth,” an interview with the creative team about the next chapter in their story, and some new character designs from Daniele DiNicuolo.

The upcoming Rom Vs Transformers: Shining Armor series announced at the show will be hitting in July from the writing team of John Barber (Optimus Prime) and Christos Gage (Rom) with art from Alex Milne (Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye).

During IDW's Archival Artbook Panel, several upcoming archival collections were spotlighted, including an authorized two-book set celebrating the 50th anniversary of Steve Ditko's Mr. A.; a 25th anniversary IDW Limited Artist’s Select collection of Michael Allred’s Madman; and a second round of Marvel Artist’s Select editions, including John Byrne’s Fantastic FourRob Liefeld’s DeadpoolBob Layton’s Iron Man, and Bill Sienkiewicz’s Moon Knight. On the Artist’s Edition front, IDW announced P. Craig Russell’s Strange Dreams and a collection of Bernie Wrightson’s DC work

The just announced R. Crumb book 'R. Crumb: From the Underground to GENESIS' will take the recent Crumb retrospective exhibit from Paris's Modern Art Museum and present it in this upcoming book.

It was also revealed that July is Tom Whalen Covers Month which will see the artist create cover art of iconic characters using his distinctive pop art style.
