WHAT THE BLEEP DO WE KNOW!?  CO-CREATOR BETSY CHASSE
RELEASES  NEW BOOK
Metanoia:  a transformational change of heart  Reveals Story of Living, Loving, Losing and Learning how to Regain and Maintain it all in Authenticity

 Los Angeles, CA(August 25, 2011)
Ten years ago, Hollywood filmmaker Betsy Chasse co-created a movie on science and mysticism (subjects she knew nothing about), and was forevermore plucked from the oblivion of Valley Girl “shoe consciousness.” The movie, “What the Bleep Do We Know!?,” changed her life and the life of millions as it went on to make spiritual cinema history.
Her latest creation, a “little book of essays” called Metanoia: a transformational change of heart, reveals a much wiser and infinitely more humble woman than the post “Bleep” successful thirty-something who hit the New Age conference circuits and radio shows back in 2005.
“After the movie was released, people were coming to me for advice about how to make their lives as perfect as mine,” Chasse recalls. “I had it all. I knew everything. All you had to do was ask me!”
Enter life, stage left.
Metanoia: a transformational change of heart is, above all, a book about getting real. The nineteen short essays poetically and ruthlessly reveal a woman in the aftermath of public and domestic success; a woman in the process of being humbled by life; a woman who yearns for vulnerability and authenticity even as she rails against the need for facing the limiting self-concepts she holds inside that keep her from embracing—and loving—her true self.

An “every woman” journey that every woman who has lived and loved and lost it all … and then yearned for something greater and deeper to blossom within her can relate to.
Delicate, surprising, potent and raw, each essay is accompanied by relevant quotes from sources as diverse as Victor Hugo, Rumi and Lucille Ball.
New Horror Series Undead Evil Creeps Onto Shelves in October

August 25, 2011 – Los Angeles, CA – Asylum Press announced today that Undead Evil, a gritty new four-issue horror comic book mini-series, will debut in comic shops nationwide on October 5, 2011, just in time for the Halloween season. The books will be distributed through Diamond Comic Distributors, Haven Distributors and Tony Shenton.

Written by Frank Forte (
Asylum of Horrors, Warlash, Vampire Verses) and drawn by fan favorite artist Nenad Gucunja (Asylum of Horrors, Warlash), with cover by acclaimed gaming concept designer Ben Olson (Shogo M.A.D, Drakan, Drakan II), Undead Evil takes place in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina where a centuries old family curse is reignited by an undead voodoo priest. When paranormal researcher Alfred Carter is summoned by the ghost of his ancestor, he must travel to The Big Easy to cleanse his bloodline.  What he finds are untold family secrets and a descent into madness.  This disturbing tale can be described as H.P. Lovecraft meets Angel Heart with voodoo zombies.

“It’s a twisted Lovcraftian, zombie voodoo thriller," says writer/artist Frank Forte, of Undead Evil, “I’ve always been a Lovecraft fan, and his influence has always creeped into my stories.  I wanted to do a tale that had a Lovcraftian tone without redoing what’s been done before.  So the influence is there, but I’m adding many other scenarios that come from my years of reading and creating horror tales.  I did quite a bit of research on Voodoo.  I think this is going to be very dark.”

Undead Evil #1 (of 4), a 32-page black and white comic book for $2.99, goes on sale in stores in early October. Retailers can pre-order Undead Evil #1 from Diamond Previews August catalog (Asylum Press section - page #249). This title carries a Diamond Code of AUG110860.

Diamond Comic Distributors gave
Undead Evil #1 a "Zombieriffic" in its August Previews catalog. It is now featured on Diamond Previews World.

The next chapter of this highly acclaimed off-the-wall nominated for an Eisner series that never ceases to astonish and amuse! Salvatore the crack dog mechanic has now finished his rig and is off to all the way out somewhere in Latin America to his sweetheart pooch he has been pining for. His trip which he takes with his reluctant assistant, a minuscule human who communicates only through his PC, goes all the way through Russia and the Bering Straits, a route he characterizes as epic but is really designed to avoid the seas which Salvatore is deadly afraid of. On the way, there are many temptations such as the pretty cat Julie who, as it turns out, has adopted the missing piglet Amandine the Sow has been so desperately spending her last penny trying to find while, unbeknownst to her, the rest of her litter is busy in a lucrative endeavor of bio recycling.

Jason M. Burns directs comedic web-series

August 24, 2011: Jason M. Burns, best known for his creator-owned comic book series A Dummy’s Guide to Danger, recently wrapped production on the new comedic web-series Adults Only, which features well-known entertainers Vincent Pastore (The Sopranos), Danny Nucci (Titanic, The Rock), Brian Austin Green (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Beverly Hills 90210), Sebastian Bach (lead singer of Skid Row), Brianna Brown (General Hospital and Showtime’s upcomingHomeland), Ronnie Marmo (General Hospital), Adrienne LaValley (best known for her work as the National Floors Direct spokesperson), and indie actor Todd Poudrier.

“I have never been more proud of a project,” states Burns, who not only directed, but also wrote and produced the series. “Even now, I look at the footage and I get a little emotional. I dreamt of this as a kid, and now here it is a reality.”

The series follows Chance Rioux, a former gymnast who must accept a job managing his brother-in-law’s adult video/novelty store in order to make ends meet, all while trying to conceal his identity from the public, particularly a new love interest who serves as the trigger in his reinvention of self.

“It’s all about second chances, with plenty of comedy thrown in for good measure,” Burns continues. “Life is funny, even when it doesn’t mean to be, which is what Chance discovers.”

Named Best Indie Writer of 2008 by the Project Fanboy Awards, Burns made the leap into the comic book industry in 2004. Since that time he has written and created a number of successful comic book series, including Curse of the Were-Woman, and The Expendable One, which is currently being developed into a major motion picture by Intrepid Pictures. Most recently Burns has spent time writing for other people’s creations, crafting comics and graphic novels for such recognizable properties as Megamind, Jericho, Pocket God, Kung Fu Panda, Richie Rich, and Fraggle Rock, while also working with on-screen talent, including Christopher Meloni.

Adults Only was shot in Massachusetts and is set to debut online in late October.

Baltimore Comic-Con Thanks Contributors to 2011's Success

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND - August 24, 2011 - The Baltimore Comic-Con would like to extend a gracious "Thank You!" to all of those who helped make our 12th annual show a success! The success of the show would not have been possible without the contributions of our exhibitors, guests, and staff. We would especially like to thank the fans that attended the weekend's events. Without you, the show simply could not have happened!

Much of the show's success was made possible by the attendance of our Guest of Honor, Stan Lee, who made his first appearance at the show this year. As a founding father of Marvel Comics, Lee's presence was a great draw to fans, retailers, and guests alike. In addition to his appearance at the show for autographs and photos, Lee was also the focus of a special panel moderated by Jimmy Palmiotti.

We would also like to thank the guest charities who attended the show -- the Hero Initiative, Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBDLF), the Baltimore Human Society, and the 'Ringo Scholarship Fund -- who collectively raised over $14,000 to support their worthy causes.

"The CBLDF raised $5,000 at Baltimore Comic-Con thanks to the generosity of Baltimore's incredible community of comics fans," said Charles Brownstein, Executive Director of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. "We're grateful to Marc Nathan and his entire team for putting one of the most enthusiastic and well-attended comics centric shows in the US, and for helping the CBLDF raise these much needed funds!"

"Our 12th annual show was our biggest show to date," said Marc Nathan, show promoter of the Baltimore Comic-Con. "After years of requests from fans to bring Stan Lee to Baltimore, 2011 seemed like the right time, and the weekend's success proved it! We are elated with how well the fans received Stan and are already planning for what we can do to top this year's show in 2012."

With attendance up over last year, a very successful and enjoyable costume contest, and the sixth year hosting the Harvey Awards among the show's highlights, the successes can barely be measured. We can't wait to start making announcements for next year's show!

Save the Date! Baltimore Comic-Con 2012!

That's right! Mark your calendars now for next year's Baltimore Comic-Con, which will take place the weekend of September 8-9, 2012 at the Baltimore Convention Center, and we'll see YOU in Baltimore!

August 23, 2011 – Los Angeles, CA – Hot on the heels of BOOM!’s sold out, bestselling PLANET OF THE APES ongoing series comes BETRAYAL OF THE PLANET OF THE APES — a brand new four issue mini-series co-written and drawn by Gabriel Hardman, best known to fans for his series-defining work on HULK and AGENTS OF ATLAS and his storyboard work on such hit films as Christopher Nolan’s Inception.

With BETRAYAL OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, Hardman and writer Corinna Sara Bechko (HEATHENTOWN, FEAR ITSELF: THE HOME FRONT) take you right into the continuity of the original seminal fan-favorite film, as the feared and respected General Aleron finds himself at the center of a conspiracy that could transform ape/human relations! Aleron’s journey puts him face to face with…Dr. Zaius! A not-to-be-missed mini-series with story and art that is sure to make you go…ape!

"I've been dying to work on a PLANET OF THE APES comic for as long as I can remember," said artist and co-writer Gabriel Hardman. "When Corinna and I saw what a great job BOOM! did with their ongoing Apes book we jumped at the opportunity to write and draw this mini-series. Since our comic is set just prior to the first Planet of the Apes film, we're given the opportunity to play with the most iconic elements of the films while still telling an accessible, epic, action-adventure story."

"Working with Gabriel Hardman is always a thrill, but this project is something really special," said co-writer Corinna Sara Bechko. "Not only am I a huge fan of the films but I spent five years working with actual apes at the L.A. Zoo, a fact that gives me a somewhat unique perspective on ape-human relations. I adore what BOOM! has been doing with the series and am incredibly excited to unleash our Apes story on the world!"

"Gabriel Hardman was one of the first artists I worked with on ZOMBIE TALES when I came to BOOM! back in 2008, and it's a real treat to be working with such a talented artist and writer," BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon said. "Hardman, along with co-writer Corinna Sara Bechko, is bringing a brand-new PLANET OF THE APES story, in continuity with the original films, that will have old and new fans alike clamoring for the next issue. I can't wait to get this series into comic book readers' hands everywhere. It's going to blow people's minds."

"It's great to have Gabriel Hardman back doing work for BOOM! Gabriel has long been one of my favorite comic book artists, and he and Corinna are delivering the goods," BOOM! Studios Marketing and Sales Director Chip Mosher said. "PLANET OF THE APES fans are going to love this, and all the new fans from this summer's hit Rise of the Planet of the Apes are going to dig this series too. Don't dare miss it!"

The first issue ships with four distinct covers, with interior artist and co-writer Gabriel Hardman providing Cover A, a 1-in-20 Dr. Zaius Photo Chase cover for Cover B, a 1-in-25 Chase Cover with art by STARBORN colorist Mitch Gerads, and a 1-in-25 Retailer Incentive cover by WHO IS JAKE ELLIS? artist Tonci Zonjic.

BETRAYAL OF THE PLANET OF THE APES #1 (of 4) debuts this November with a cover price of $3.99 and carries a Diamond Code of SEP110880.
