Starz signs “Spartacus” Co-Creator Steven S. DeKnight
to an Overall Deal

(September 30, 2011 – Beverly Hills, CA)   STARZ has signed “Spartacus” Co-Creator, Executive Producer and Showrunner Steven S. DeKnight to an exclusive two-year overall deal.  Starz has a three-year relationship with DeKnight, since the 2009 launch of the critically-acclaimed hit action drama series “Spartacus.”

“Steven is a rare talent who we want to stay in business with,” says Carmi Zlotnik, Managing Director of Starz.  “We are thrilled this incredible creative partnership will continue for years to come.”
"The creative support and unparalleled freedom that Chris Albrecht, Carmi Zlotnik, Marta Fernandez and the entire Starz team have given me has been deeply appreciated,” says DeKnight.  “It is a rare, wonderful opportunity to collaborate with an emerging network on forging their identity in scripted programming.  I look forward to continuing this incredibly rewarding relationship.  I would also like to thank my producing partners on Spartacus, Rob Tapert, Joshua Donen, and Sam Raimi, for placing their trust in an unproven showrunner.  Without them and the tireless efforts of my agents Chris Harbert and Tom Young at CAA, none of this phenomenal good fortune would have been possible."
DeKnight will continue to serve in his current role on “Spartacus” which will premiere its second season in January 2012.

In the movie, a group of mysterious flying ninja have arrived from overseas to launch a sudden attack against the Hidden Leaf Village, leaving behind a wake of destruction. The group is revealed to be the “Sky Ninja” from the Land of Sky, a nation thought to have been destroyed by the Hidden Leaf Village long ago. To save their village, Naruto and his friends set out to stop this new threat. During the course of the mission, Naruto crosses paths with Sasuke, his friend who has parted ways from the Leaf Village.

In the NARUTO manga and animated series, Naruto Uzumaki wants to be the best ninja in the land. He's done well so far, but Naruto knows he must train harder than ever and leaves his village for intense exercises that will push him to his limits. NARUTO SHIPPUDEN begins two and a half years later, when Naruto returns to find that everyone has been promoted up the ninja ranks – except him. Sakura’s a medic ninja, Gaara’s advanced to Kazekage, and Kakashi…well he remains the same. But pride isn’t necessarily becoming of a ninja, especially when Naruto realizes that Sasuke never returned from his search for Orochimaru. Plus, the mysterious Akatsuki organization is still an ever-present danger. As Naruto finds out more about the Akatsuki’s goals, he realizes that nothing in his universe is as it seems. Naruto is finding that he’s older, but will he also prove wiser and stronger?

DARK HORSE UNVEILS THE 2011
NEW YORK COMIC CON EXCLUSIVE
MARVEL SPIDER-MAN SYROCO!

SEPTEMBER 28, MILWAUKIE, OR—As part of the Marvel Syrocos program that debuted at San Diego Comic-Con International in July, it is announced today that Dark Horse will be releasing another exclusive Spider-Man statue for New York Comic Con!
New York Comic Con attendees will have a very significant opportunity to acquire a special statue released just for the show. Much like the previously released and long-sold-out SDCC exclusive, a very limited number of this statuette is being offered. It is packaged in the same litho-printed tin box that is the hallmark of the Dark Horse Syrocos, and is destined to be a bona fide hot item, both at the show and far beyond the exhibit hall. It will be sold at the normal retail price of $49.99, with a limit of four per customer.
“We wanted to evoke New York with our very special exclusive Spider-Man,” said Dark Horse’s VP of Product Development, David Scroggy. “Unfortunately, space constraints made a rooftop water tower or fire escape impossible, but we still hope fans can sense the city in this piece.”
The Marvel Syrocos program kicked off earlier this month with two alternating series: Classic Marvel Characters and the Fantastic Four. This new line will be deliberately different than the common modern Marvel collectible sculpture, with features like a rougher surface texture, visible seam lines, and other slightly distressed aspects, such as the method of paint application.
These special New York Comic Con exclusives will be available at four p.m. on Thursday, October 13. Don’t miss your chance to own one of these fantastic statues!

VICTOR CROWLEY MEETS CASSIE HACK

In the Louisiana Bayou, the murderous ghost of Victor Crowley is maiming tourists in creatively horrible ways. But in his blind murderous rampage, he may have created something worse than himself! Now, Cassie and Vlad are back in New Orleans, and it won't be long before baseball bat meets hatchet and deformed mutant meets deformed mutant!

GIANT-SIZED ELEPHANTMEN OFFER MORE
The complete Man And Elephantman Story Arc Introduces Elephantmen To New Readers

Berkeley, CA – 28 September 2011 – In November, a giant-sized helping of ELEPHANTMEN, Richard Starkings' increasingly popular ongoing science fiction series, will be available from Image Comics. GIANT-SIZE ELEPHANTMEN #1 will collect the entire sold out Man Or Elephantman story arc, which was previewed in the back of THE WALKING DEAD #86. GIANT-SIZE ELEPHANTMEN #1 will include MAN AND ELEPHANTMAN #1, ELEPHANTMEN #31, and ELEPHANTMEN #32.

Plus, it will all be wrapped up by a beautiful tri-fold cover by J. Scott Campbell and Nei Ruffino, as well as a variant cover by regular series artist Axel Medellin. New readers who were intrigued by the flip issue that ran in THE WALKING DEAD #86 are invited to find out what everyone has been talking about in GIANT-SIZE ELEPHANTMEN #1!

Starkings, ELEPHANTMEN writer and creator said, "Axel Medellin's art went from strength to strength in the course of MAN AND ELEPHANTMAN, so I'm happy readers who missed out on the original issues get a chance to catch up on the story in time for Axel's triumphant return, after a three issue break, on ELEPHANTMEN #36 which is entitled The Day After Yesterday. It locks into the Man And Elephantman storyline and starts a series of events which will lead to the death of one of our major characters!"

Set 200 years in the future, ELEPHANTMEN is the story of human/animal hybrids, genetically engineered as biological weapons of mass destruction. The war they were designed to fight has long-since ended and the surviving "Elephantmen" have been freed and rehabilitated to live out the rest of their lives peacefully, despite living amongst those they were created to kill. They are continually treated with suspicion and contempt except by a handful of trusted human allies.

GIANT-SIZE ELEPHANTMEN #1 (J. Scott Campbell cover: SEP110368, Axel Medellin cover: SEP110369), a 68-page full-color sci-fi comic for mature readers, will be on sale in stores November 2 for $5.99.

All- new GHOSTBUSTERS Comics Series
Hits Stores Nationwide
The boys are back with local retailer exclusive covers

[Ghostbusters #1 Cover]San Diego, CA (September 28, 2011) — IDW Publishing is pleased to announce the launch of the new ongoing series, GHOSTBUSTERS. Through IDW’s partnership with Sony Pictures Consumer Products, the famous foursome are back in business starting this September. Celebrating the debut of this series, readers are encouraged to look for the nine unique covers created for select retailers throughout North America.

Similar to IDW’s hugely successful Godzilla retailer exclusive cover promotion, comic retailers were offered the opportunity to take part in the special “Be a Ghostbuster” promotion, resulting in nine different covers. Selected by participating retailers, nine people are featured on the unique covers of issue #1 as individual Ghostbusters, drawn from photo reference by the talented Alan Robinson (Phoenix Without Ashes, Weekly World News.) These original covers are only available in the nine comic stores that supported the program.

“The success of the ‘Be a Ghostbuster’ promotion was really the cherry on top of what turned out to be a fantastic launch to a new ongoing series,” said editor Tom Waltz. “Fans, old and new alike, have been filling up the many Ghostbusters-related forums and websites with proof that they are as excited as we are for a Ghostbusters ongoing series at last. The creative team has put together an awesome first issue very faithful to the flavor of the original movie. Great writing, great artwork, and 100% content -- I can’t wait to get it in readers’ hands!”

In this ongoing series starting today with issue #1, Ghostbusters fans will be treated to exciting new stories by Ghostbusters: Infestation writer Erik Burnham, fan-favorite artist Dan Schoening (Ghostbusters:What in Samhain Just Happened?!), alongside popular cover artist Nick Runge (Ghostbusters: Haunted Holidays.) In the first issue, pscychokinetic energy is on the rise again, and business is booming for the boys. Ray is troubled by what could be a prophetic dream – is this an ill omen of an upcoming apocaplyse, or just a little indigestion?

In addition to the retailer exclusive covers, issue #1 will also feature a “Who You Gonna Call” cover by Schoening, and a glow in the dark cover.

GHOSTBUSTERS #1 ($3.99, 32 pages, full color) is now available in stores. Diamond order code: JUL11 0130.
