Prestigious honor for the conclusion to the #1 bestselling graphic novel trilogy by John Lewis, Andrew Aydin, & Nate Powell

NEW YORK — Yesterday the National Book Foundation announced the finalists for the 67th Annual National Book Awards — including, for the first time since 1957, a sitting member of Congress.
Congressman John Lewis, Andrew Aydin, and Nate Powell are now National Book Award finalists in the Young People’s Literature category, for the concluding volume of their bestselling graphic novel trilogy March. The autobiographical series, which depicts Lewis’s firsthand account of the Civil Rights Movement, has previously won such honors as the Robert F. Kennedy Book Award, the Eisner Award, two Harvey Awards, and a Coretta Scott King Author Honor. It is rapidly being adopted by universities and public school systems from New York to San Francisco, and recently spent six continuous weeks holding the top 3 spots on the New York Times Bestseller List.
“This is amazing to me,” said Congressman Lewis. “I’m overwhelmed and deeply moved that March: Book Three is a finalist for the National Book Award. It is my hope that this honor inspires many more young people, and people not so young, to read March and to learn the transformative lessons of our ongoing struggle to create the beloved community.”
Co-writer Andrew Aydin had this to say: “When I found out, I cried. I couldn’t help it. This is such an unbelievable honor. It’s been an incredibly long and difficult journey to get to this point, and I am deeply, deeply grateful to the judges and supporters who have gotten us here.”
Artist Nate Powell added, “We're all blown away by how deeply this trilogy has been embraced. It's never been more urgent to understand and apply the Movement's history and perspectives — this work is for the unwritten future. We're grateful to be able to help those voices be heard.”
Few graphic novels have previously reached NBA Finalist status, including such acclaimed works as American Born Chinese and Boxers & Saints by Gene Luen Yang, Stitches by David Small, and Nimona by Noelle Stevenson. Other notable finalists include The Catcher in the Rye, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Profiles in Courage by Senator John F. Kennedy, who is himself a character in March.
The March team will travel to New York City to join this year's other finalists for two days of festivities November 15th and 16th. For more details, visit http://www.nationalbook.org.

‘Darkness Visible’ Appears At NYCC From IDW Publishing
Mike Carey and Arvind Ethan David team up for a supernatural comic book series

San Diego, CA (October 7, 2016) – As announced on the IDW Publishing panel at New York Comic Con, bestselling author and screenwriter Mike Carey (Unwritten, Lucifer, Girl with All the Gifts) and writer and producer Arvind Ethan David (Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency) will colloborate on an all-new, original world of darkness and demons – Darkness Visible. Co-writers Carey and David will be joined by Brendan Cahill (Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye) and Livio Ramondelli (Transformers) on art.

Darkness Visible introduces readers to a world where in the mid 20th Century, Demons came out of the shadows. 75 years of uneasy co-existence has spawned an endless terrorist conflict. Detective Daniel Aston, charged with being the thin blue line between the two sides, is tested to the limit when a demon sets up house inside his soul. But to save his daughter, he’ll pay any price—including genocide.

“Mike and I have been talking about Detective Daniel Aston and his well paved Road To Hell since literally the day we met,” said co-writer, Arvind Ethan David. “It was time to tell the story to the world, and we’re delighted to do so with our friends at IDW.”

"It's horror story as political parable," Mike Carey adds. "We live in an age where fear of the other has become a toxic part of the status quo. Suppose that other is an immortal monster who can evict your soul from your body and drive you like a stolen car?"

Let your inner demon out this February when Darkness Visible comes to light. Until then, NYCC attendees can snag an advanced preview at the IDW Publishing Booth #1844.

DARK HORSE AND FOX PUT THE “ALIEN” IN ALIEN DAY

Dark Horse and Fox to release new “Alien: Dead Orbit” series and “Aliens: The Original Comics Series” Volume 2 on April 26, 2017

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
MILWAUKIE, Ore., (October 5, 2016)—In collaboration with 20th Century Fox and in honor of Aliens Day 2017, Dark Horse is excited to announce its next developments in the beloved Aliens franchise: Aliens: Dead Orbit and Aliens: The Original Comics Series Volume 2.
Aliens: Dead Orbit finds Wascylewsk, an engineering officer, trapped in a space station after a horrific accident. Wascylewsk is forced to use all available tools—a timer, a utility kit, and his wits—to survive an attack from the deadliest creature known to man. James Stokoe (Wonton Soup, Orc Stain) writes and illustrates the series. Geof Darrow (The Shaolin Cowboy, The Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot) will provide a variant cover for the first issue.
Following the highly successful release of Aliens: The Original Comic Series earlier this year, volume 2 finds Earth overrun by xenomorphs, with no hope of saving it for humanity. This doesn’t mean humans are ready to give up their home without a fight. Ripley hatches a plan to capture a “Queen Mother”—a super queen that rules multiple nests—and bring it back to Earth. Ripley believes the Queen Mother will command the xenomorphs to gather together where she can detonate a nuclear bomb to destroy them. Mark Verheiden (The Mask, Timecop) composed the stories while Den Beauvais (Aliens, Aliens: Countdown) and Sam Kieth (The Sandman, The Maxx) illustrated the interiors. Aliens: The Original Comics Series Volume 2 collects Aliens: Nightmare Asylum #1–#4 and Aliens: Female War #1–#4, and includes cover art for all issues in a special oversized hardcover edition.

Aliens: Dead Orbit’s first issue (of four) goes on sale on April 26, 2017. Aliens: The Original Comics Series Volume 2 also goes on sale April 12, 2017.

DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES LICENSE WITH CBS CONSUMER
PRODUCTS TO REVIVE EVERGREEN TELEVISION PROPERTIES

Mighty Mouse and Charmed to Return in All-New Comic Book Series for 2017

October 5, 2016, Mt. Laurel, NJ: Dynamite Entertainment and CBS Consumer Products announced today a new license agreement for two classic properties from the rich history of television: the animated legend Mighty Mouse, and the hit 90's series Charmed!

Mighty Mouse returns to comics for the first time in 30 years, just in time for the character's 75th anniversary in 2017! Mighty Mouse was first conceived in 1942 as a parody of another cape and cowl hero introduced a few years earlier, and went on to star in countless animated films for the better part of the next 20 years, finding a new life on Saturday mornings in the 1960's.

"Mighty Mouse is as much a part of American pop culture as the two characters he is inspired by," says Nick Barrucci, Dynamite CEO and publisher. "The original comics and animation entertained generations of fans, and with the popularity of superhero movies, there couldn't be a better time for his return! I am thrilled that Dynamite will be able to bring this timeless hero to a whole new generation of fans."

Charmed premiered critical acclaim and commercial success, and by the end of its eight-season run, had won numerous awards and aired in more than 20 countries. Charmed follows the Halliwell sisters: three witches, each powerful in her own right, but invincible when they come together to summon The Power of Three. Protecting innocents from the underworld's demons, the Halliwell sisters battle evil from their family home in San Francisco.

"Charmed is a perfect fit for Dynamite for a number of reasons," says Dynamite CEO and publisher Nick Barrucci. "We have had tremendous success with cult television properties, and the Halliwell sisters will be right at home. Our plans for these new series are sure to please comics readers and die-hard TV junkies alike!"

Details on Dynamite's upcoming Mighty Mouse and Charmed publishing programs will be released in the coming months.

DARK HORSE ADAPTS “AMERICAN GODS” INTO COMIC BOOK AND GRAPHIC NOVEL FORMAT

Neil Gaiman’s award-winning novel to be adapted into comic series in 2017

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
MILWAUKIE, Ore., (October 5, 2016)—Today, Dark Horse is excited to announce the adaptation of American Gods into comic book form. Originally published in 2001 by William Morrow and Headline, American Gods is a Hugo and Nebula Award–winning novel by Neil Gaiman (How to Talk to Girls at Parties, The Sandman). North American rights were acquired from Gaiman’s literary agent, Merrilee Heifetz at Writers House. American Gods is the latest Gaiman adaptation from Dark Horse, preceded by graphic novel adaptations of How to Talk to Girls at Parties, Troll Bridge, Forbidden Brides, and many more. Starz will also premiere an American Gods TV show in spring 2017, adapted by Bryan Fuller (NBC's Hannibal, CBS’s Star Trek: Discovery).
Dark Horse tapped P. Craig Russell (The Sandman: The Dream Hunters)—who, having worked on Coraline and The Graveyard Book, is no stranger to adapting Neil Gaiman’s work—to adapt and co-write the comic series, while Scott Hampton (Hellboy, Batman) lends his illustrative skills to the complex world Gaiman created. Glenn Fabry (Preacher) and Adam Brown (Predator vs. Judge Dredd vs. Aliens) create the hauntingly beautiful cover art. David Mack (Kabuki, Fight Club 2) and Dave McKean (Black Dog, Cages) provide variant covers for the first issue. The American Gods comic series will feature guest interior art by Walt Simonson (Thor), Mark Buckingham (Fables), Colleen Doran (The Sandman), P. Craig Russell, and more.
American Gods creator Neil Gaiman explained his excitement for the upcoming American Gods adaptations: “There’s a tremendous amount of excitement, in my house and in the world, about the American Gods TV series coming up on Starz. What we’ve managed to keep a secret until now is that there is something just as exciting out there: American Gods, the comic. I’ve been watching P. Craig Russell breaking down the book into comic form, watching Scott Hampton painting the pages, watching Glenn Fabry create the covers, and grinning to myself with delight, because the American Gods comic is going to be an astonishing, faithful, and beautiful adaptation.”
American Gods: Shadows #1 finds Shadow Moon released from jail only to discover his wife has died. Broken and uncertain about his future, Shadow Moon meets the mysterious Mr. Wednesday, who employs him to serve as his bodyguard. This fateful decision thrusts Shadow into a deadly supernatural world where ghosts of the past come back from the dead, and a brewing war between old and new gods hits a boiling point.
Dark Horse will adapt American Gods into twenty-seven single issues with three story arcs: Shadows, My Ainsel, and The Moment of the Storm, to be collected into three hardcover graphic novels. The first issue of American Gods: Shadows goes on sale March 15, 2017.

DYNAMITE SIGNS BENJAMIN PERCY TO WRITE BOND SERIES!

NOVELIST AND GREEN ARROW WRITER TO SCRIPT
ALL-NEW ONGOING SERIES IN 2017!

October 5, 2016, Mt. Laurel, NJ: A year after Dynamite's James Bond series launched in record numbers, the publisher announces that Benjamin Percy - author of DC's Rebirth: Green Arrow and Teen Titans, as well as the acclaimed novels Red Moon, The Wilding, and more - will be taking the reins of an all-new 007 ongoing series in 2017!

In 2014, Dynamite Entertainment made headlines across the comics industry and beyond with the news that the New Jersey publisher had secured the license from Ian Fleming Publications Ltd to produce the first James Bond comics in 20 years. The first series, written by Transmetropolitan writer Warren Ellis, launched the following year to widespread critical acclaim, and was a breakout success in the comics specialty market.

Benjamin Percy says, "When I was a kid, my father and I would watch -- over and over again -- the Bond marathons on TBS. When I was in high school, I took a career test and wrote 'spy' as my dream job. When I was in college, I signed up for an espionage novel course and fell in love with Fleming's books. The first drink I ordered was a vodka martini -- shaken, not stirred -- though I now stay true to the novels and favor bourbon. And over the past few months, I've followed the Warren Ellis run at Dynamite with admiration and jealousy. Bond is ingrained in me, a character who has centrally influenced my life and sense of story. I love the legendary, exquisitely cool 007 franchise and I couldn't be more excited to thrill readers with exotic locales, nifty gadgets, colorful villains, dangerous seductions, and wildly orchestrated action set-pieces. Cue the theme music."

"Ben Percy is an immense talent, one of the great thriller writers of this decade, and I can't wait to see him write the future assignments of 007," says current James Bond writer and comics legend, Warren Ellis.

"As we continue to expand our James Bond publishing program with miniseries and graphic novels, the stakes were high for choosing the next architect for our ongoing series," says Dynamite CEO and publisher Nick Barrucci. "Benjamin Percy's name was at the top of our list, and to be able to follow up Warren's incredible inaugural run with a writer of his caliber, who can make the series his own, is the best of all worlds!"

"Ben's got what it takes to follow in Warren's massive footsteps, and we think fans are going to love what he has planned," says Dynamite Editorial Director, Joseph Rybandt. "By creating a new series for Ben, we're also opening up the door for anyone that hasn't yet checked out our Bond comics."

Benjamin Percy is a novelist, screenwriter and comics writer. He is the author of four novels -- The Dark Net, The Dead Lands, Red Moon, and The Wilding -- as well as two books of short stories, Refresh, Refresh and The Language of Elk. He writes the Green Arrow and Teen Titans series for DC Comics, and his fiction and nonfiction have been published in Esquire (where he was a contributing editor for ten years), GQ, Time, Men's Journal, Outside, The Wall Street Journal, Tin House, Ploughshares, Glimmer Train, McSweeney's, and The Paris Review. His honors include an NEA fellowship, the Whiting Writer's Award, the Plimpton Prize, two Pushcart Prizes and inclusion in Best American Short Stories and Best American Comics. His novel Red Moon is currently in development as a TV series at FOX.

Look for news on Benjamin Percy's 007 debut in the coming months. In the meantime, fans can enjoy the new James Bond: Hammerhead miniseries from Andy Diggle, beginning in November.

DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT TAPS PAUL CORNELL
FOR NEW VAMPIRELLA SERIES

Series Launches in February 2017 with Special $0.25 Introductory-Priced Issue!

October 4, 2016, Mt. Laurel, NJ: As the buzz builds for New York Comic-Con, and just in time for Halloween, Dynamite Entertainment announces that comics and television veteran Paul Cornell will write an all-new series starring Dynamite's queen of the monster hunters herself, Vampirella!

"I'm delighted to be writing a Vampirella that takes onboard everything she's been and moves it forward into a new setting, where the gothic meets science fiction," says writer Paul Cornell. "I'm also delighted to be working again with my old friends, the incredibly talented artist Jimmy Broxton, and the incredibly talented editor, Matt Idelson. There's a lyrical, Modesty Blaise feel to Jimmy's art on this. I'm hoping especially to find a female audience. The character's often been regarded as a nostalgia item, cheesecake, and we're building on previous efforts to keep moving away from that to something more interesting. I'm excited to be building a whole new world, I'm loving what Jimmy's art is doing (Barbarella! Hepburn!), and I hope that excitement communicates itself to the reader."

"Paul's writing is tremendous, and we have been hoping to work with him on Vampirella for quite some time now," says Dynamite CEO and Publisher, Nick Barrucci. "While Paul's series is written in the classic style of the character, his take feels every bit as fresh as our 2016 relaunch. This new series is sure to be applauded by new readers and longtime fans alike!"

Paul Cornell is an English writer of novels, comic books and television, perhaps best known for his work on Doctor Who, dating back to 1990. Since that time, Cornell has written over ten Doctor Who novels, as well as multiple series for both DC and Marvel, as well as the widely celebrated Vertigo series, Saucer Country.

"I'm supremely jazzed to have the chance to work on Vampirella, a character with an incredibly rich history and a touchstone still for many readers today," says Matt Idelson, Senior Editor. "Reuniting with Paul is always a total pleasure, and what he and artist Jimmy Broxton have cooked up speaks very much to all that's great about the character, yet will come as a totally unexpected, wonderful surprise. I think this is going to greatly appeal to both longtime and new readers alike."

Vampirella is a raven-haired heroine who remains, even after 45 years of publication, one of the comic industry's most well known characters, due in no small part to Dynamite Entertainment. Since Vampirella's very healthy resurgence in 2010, Dynamite has published three volumes of a monthly series, several miniseries and one-shot specials, and crossovers with multimedia brands and comic book peers. The Vampirella franchise is a haven for writers and artists with a penchant for the macabre.

Look for upcoming announcements on release date, art team and more in the coming months.
