PRESS RELEASE - LIVE AGAIN AFTER DEATH THIS JULY IN THE UPCOMING EXISTENCE 2.0!
Science fiction and noir crime combine like never before in July's EXISTENCE 2.0!

6 May 2009 (Berkeley, CA) - This July writer Nick Spencer and illustrator Ronald Salas give one man the chance to start life anew after dying in the science fiction romp, EXISTENCE 2.0.

"I brought this book to Image, because in all my years of reading comics I've never quite seen anything like it," Image Comics Vice-President Jim Valentino said. "The way Nick and Ron combine the standard tropes of crime and science fiction to create something wholly new blew me away. It's a comic I had to read and I couldn't be happier to publish it."

EXISTENCE 2.0 begins moments after self-absorbed physicist Sylvester Baladine finds his consciousness transferred into the body of the hitman who murdered him. Settling into his anonymous new life in a younger, better looking body, Sylvester is pretty content until he discovers that the very people who plotted his assassination have kidnapped the one person he treasured most in his old life - his daughter. With only limited time before she dies, Sylvester must dig up and face the past he was happy to bury and figure out who tried to kill him and why they want his daughter, inadvertently making himself a target once more.

EXISTENCE 2.0 (MAY090303), a 32-page full color series for $3.50, will be in stores July 1st, 2009.

PROFILES IN HISTORY AUCTION OF OVER 200 HOLLYWOOD WAX MUSEUM FIGURES BRINGS IN CLOSE TO A HALF MILLION DOLLARS

Calabasas, CA- The Last Supper - Jesus and his 12 Disciples ($15,340), The Beatles! - John, Paul, George and Ringo ($12,980) and Michelle Pfeiffer as "Catwoman" from Batman Returns ($8,260) were the top sellers at the Profiles in History auction of over 200 Hollywood Wax Museum figures. Bidders also scooped up Michael Jackson's costume from the 1988 Bad Concert Tour ($35,400) and Jason Voorhees' costume from Freddy vs. Jason ($8,260), also part of the Hollywood Wax Museum's collection. Wax figures of the cast of the M*A*S*H TV series ($7,670) and Charlton Heston as "Moses" from The Ten Commandments ($7,080) were other big sellers. In all, a total of $437,780 worth of wax figures, costumes and memorabilia was sold in this historic for ever sale of wax figures in the Hollywood Wax Museum's 44 year history.

Other highlights included: W.C Fields ($5100); Marilyn Monroe ($5100); Stevie Wonder ($3900); Sylvester Stallone as "Rambo" from Rambo III ($5100); Tom Cruise ($5100); Two separate scenes / figures of Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet from Titanic ($4800 each) and Bruce Willis as "Dr. Malcolm Crowe" from The Sixth Sense ($4800).

Sports figures were popular as well: Muhammad Ali ($5100); Kareem Abdul-Jabbar ($1800); Michael Jordan ($2700); Joe Montana ($1560); Mike Tyson ($3000); Mark McGwire ($3600); Tiger Woods ($1680) and Hulk Hogan ($3900).

"This was a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a true piece of Hollywood's history," said Joe Maddalena, President and CEO of Profiles in History. "Millions of people from all over the world have visited the Hollywood Wax Museum and seen these amazing wax figures, each of them a piece of art in itself. Profiles in History was honored to be selected by the wax museum to handle these treasures and to pass them on to collectors."

Now the longest running attraction of its kind in the nation, the Hollywood Wax Museum was created by storied entrepreneur Spoony Singh, and all three locations continue to be owned by and operated by his sons and grandson. Their company, Kuvera Attractions, recently retired the figures and original Hollywood costumes available in this exclusive auction through Profiles in History while making renovations in the Hollywood and Branson museums.

"This is an exciting time for us," said Partner Tej Sundher, Singh's grandson. "We are putting the finishing touches on our largest renovation of the Wax Museum in Branson since we opened it in 1996, and our focus is solely Hollywood-centric. We are no longer showcasing athletes and historical personalities at any of our Museums. We are also providing more opportunities for visitors to get into the sets with the stars for incredible pictures, so we are working with a different team of artists who are using new techniques to create life-like figures that are somewhat less fragile than the older ones."

Each figure came with a signed certificate of authenticity from the Hollywood Wax Museum. A portion of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to assist in the ongoing effort to preserve the historic Walk of Fame.

Josh Medors Benefit Auction Open Letter

This is a call to action!

As many of you may know already, artist Josh Medors (Frazetta's Swamp Demon & Sorcerer, Runes of Ragnan, 30 Days of Night) has been fighting a losing battle against a terminal form of cancer for well over a year, and it has recently taken a turn for the worst. The doctors and conventional medicine have all but given up on him and say there isn't anything else they can do. But he has found an alternative treatment that has the possibility of extending his life a bit and can help improve the quality of his life near the end so he can spend it with his wife and son. There is even a slim chance it can make him somewhat better, so he has to try. But of course the treatment is very expensive and Josh has no medical insurance.

So myself and my brother, Andrew Mangum (currently Josh's inker on Frazetta's Sorcerer) decided to arrange another benefit auction like the one they
did at Emerald City Con back in '08. This auction is different though because the last one was organized by Jay Fotos to help Josh pay his rising medical bills to fight the cancer, and this one is specifically to get the treatment he needs to be keep him around. I know there are a lot of fans and friends out there that want to help, so this auction series will be that opportunity. A wide variety of artists are contributing personal works and art from their collections just like last time, but this time it's open to collectors, fans, and everyone else. as well anyone can donate if they want to help! We just ask that it be comic or comic art related.

I have set up a special "preview gallery" for all the items as they come in on my Comic Art Fans webpage at
http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryRoom.asp?GSub=80032
You can see all of the artwork & items we will be auctioning there, as well as who donated it (unless they request to be anonymous) and all artists who donate their art will also have their websites listed if desired. Many packages of art are already on the way now and will be up soon, and the list of artists donating grows by the minute, so there is A LOT more art coming! Be sure to check back periodically to see what we'll be listing!

To donate something to the auctions, just email me at madman1138@yahoo.com or through my Comic Art Fans gallery (where all the art is) with a scan or photo of the item and the item information and I will send you the mailing address to send the goods to. I only ask the items be shipped to me in advance because there will be a lot to organize and package, and simplicity dictates that only one location handle it all. This is shaping up to be quite an undertaking, so I have to keep it as easy as possible. All donations must be received no later than Friday, May 22nd 2009 in order to be included in the auctions, which will start listing to Ebay on Saturday May 23rd.

Josh will also be selling off all of his remaining artwork to help cover these costs, and I will be helping him with that as well. So if you would like to buy
something of his now, please see the green "Art for sale-Josh Medors" gallery also on my Comic Art Fans at
http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryRoom.asp?GSub=77910
I will update this gallery with more art as Josh sends me more scans, but pages are available from Frazetta's Swamp Demon, Chucky, GI JOE, and more! All proceeds, after selling fees from all of this, will go to Josh to help him and his family in this dire time of need.

Because so many people have been asking about sending monetary donations directly to Josh as well, his Paypal email address is: jmedors3@columbus.rr.com

Sending $5 or $10 might not seem like much, but remember the water drops principle. A drop of water isn't much, but enough drops eventually fill the bucket. Every bit counts here and time is of the essence. Now is the time to act!
Please be sure to also include your name and address with the payment email through Paypal when sending money, because Josh wants to try and do Thank You cards with little sketches to all who donate (and some of the other artists might help out with that for him, so you never know what you'll get!)
Lastly, please only use his email address for Paypal payments and don't deluge his inbox with questions and well wishes. Although appreciated, he won't be able to reply to them.

Thank you for looking, and especially for helping! Together we CAN make a difference!

Outlaw Entertainment Lives Up to Their Name

Publishing company slashes their graphic novel prices in half

May 4, 2009: Outlaw Entertainment has announced today that they will lower their graphic novel cover prices from $14.99 to $7.99 beginning with their first three releases, PRAETORIAN, IMAGINARY FRIENDS, and HAT TRICK.

The introductory offer is designed to allow retailers and fans alike to familiarize themselves with the Outlaw brand without putting a major dent in their comic book budget.

The change comes as the industry continues to deal with a shrinking economy that has hit independent publishers hard.

“Outlaw is in a good position,” states Outlaw Entertainment COO, Rick A. Villa. “Being the new kid on the block allows us to step into the game and create our own rules.”

“Everyone was telling us that we had to price our books similar to what other companies were charging,” says CEO, Tony Hobdy. “But the truth is, we don’t want to run our business like everyone else, and by cutting our prices in half, we can make our titles more accessible to more people.”

With an SRP of $7.99, Outlaw Entertainment will be one of the only publishers offering new and original material at throwback prices.

“With costs continuing to rise for consumers, we’re thrilled to offer our readers a more affordable option when they step into their neighborhood comic shop,” continues Hobdy. “And the best part… We’re doing it without having to sacrifice the quality of the material itself.”

Outlaw Entertainment graphic novels feature 112 pages of full-colored storytelling, now at half the cost to consumers.

For more information on Outlaw Entertainment and to view a preview of the first three properties, visit www.outlaw-entertainment.com.
BRANDISSIMO! ANNOUNCES 3RD ANNUAL CINCO DE MAYHEM CELEBRATION AT URBANIACS.COM

Virtual Events Kick Off May 5th with Super Villain GoatFist’s

Annual Punking of Fans and Launch of Urbowars Contest

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ENCINO, Calif. – (May 4, 2009) – Celebrating the fourth anniversary of the launch of Urbaniacs – a comic book world come to virtual life – Brandissimo! announces the third annual Cinco de Mayhem celebration at Urbaniacs.com.

Cinco de Mayhem begins May 5, 2009 when site-wide super-villain GoatFist takes over all of Urbaniacs.com in what has become the staff's annual practical joke on the citizens of Urbanville. In the past, the users have logged in to find all forum posts replaced with "GoatFist Rules!," their in-site community bank has been robbed, and their user pages have been replaced with a graffiti of "You've Been Goated!"

“It’s our yearly punking of the fans of Urbaniacs,” said Josh Fisher, founder of the award-winning virtual world, who is also known as Mayor Da!Man. “We use this event as a fun way to launch our biggest new feature of the year.”

This year, Cinco de Mayhem launches the all-new Urbowars, an ongoing, month-long contest that unites all of the elements of Urbaniacs. From playing games to training characters and multiplayer battles to villainous assaults, Urbowars tracks everything an Urbaniacs player experiences and turns it into a fun contest where one team wins every month. At the end of each month, an entire class of Urbaniacs characters (Hero, Villain, Vigilante, Beatnik or Nomad) will be declared the Urbowars winner and every user who is part of the class will be awarded in-game prizes.

“Urbowars is a fun way to add a sense of competition to the social elements of the site and reward our players at the same time. It’s also a way for individual users to engage each other, play in character, and get into the spirit of our game world. There’s friendly competition between users, a little trash talking and plenty of crowing by the winning disposition,” said Fisher. “Just keep an eye out for GoatFist or you might be his next Cinco de Mayhem victim!”

ABOUT URBANIACS

Urbaniacs is a comic book world come to virtual life. Transform your online self into your own funk-infused super-avatar known as an “Urbanic.” Meet new “Homeys” or challenge your “Arch enemies” in a multiplayer battle. Each Urbaniac can be customized in thousands of ways. While the characters and styles are immediately attractive to younger audiences, the depth, clever games, and irreverent sensibility appeal to the teens and adults who play. There is a wide range of humorous and entertaining interactions for anyone looking for an adventure. Direct your Urbaniac to “The Streets” to chat with friends and show off funky super powers, or cruise to the “Arena” to take out some aggressions with a hilarious round of “Wedgie Toss.” Join a local challenge to become a “Boombox” master, or spend some time earning “Urbos” (Urbanville’s currency) while playing “Beat Bot Boogie.” There are many compelling social community features built into the comic gameplay of the world. Once you’ve earned some Urbos, you can head down to the “Pimp Out Depot” to trade them in for some fresh new gear and gadgets to equip on your Urbaniac. But be careful! At any moment, you could be faced with a challenge, assault, or battle by another Urbaniac or one of the in-game characters. Scared? Don’t be. Just invite some Homeys along and you and your crew could take over the city in no time.

The group elements make the site come to life. Try your best to out-rap Urbanville’s Mayor Da Man in the “Freestyle” rap forum or check out the “Newbie” posts to get some insider tips about how to play the more challenging games. Better yet, create your own forum and see how the Urbaniacs community responds. “As consumers continue to adapt to the ever changing world of pop culture, Outlaw Entertainment will adapt with them, whether it’s through digital or print media” stated HJ Harrison, Managing Partner of RVP. “We are looking for Outlaw Entertainment to be a leader in the comic book/graphic novel marketplace, while also serving as an elite source for intellectual property development.”

Tony Hobdy and Rick A. Villa are the founders of Outlaw Entertainment and will oversee the graphic publishing arm.

Hobdy, who has managed the creation, production, and marketing for more than 300 multimedia projects with corporate clients such as IBM, Coca-Cola, and HP, is excited by the opportunity to bring original content into the marketplace. “We’ve been actively developing a uniquely diverse line-up of graphic novel titles for over a year now,” he said. “Because we’ve been involved in the development process for such a long time, we’re eager to see our public launch finally become a reality.”

With over ten years experience working with animation mega-brands such as Yu-Gi-Oh, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Dragon Ball Z, Villa has seen firsthand the benefits of being a creative house for new ideas and unique properties. “Outlaw Entertainment is in this for the long haul,” he said. “Our goal is not to have one great title, but a library of great titles across all genres.”

Working with top talent in both the comic industry as well as Hollywood, Outlaw Entertainment will release up to fifteen titles a year beginning in June 2009.
