First Scripted Original for New Genre-Busting Cable Network Premieres Q1 2014

El Rey Network to Debut Nationally December 2013

New York and Austin, TX – November 15, 2013 – On the heels of last week’s start of production in Austin, El Rey Network today announced the newest cast members of the highly-anticipated, "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series,” premiering in Q1 2014 on the new English-language cable network.  Created in association with FactoryMade Ventures and created and executive produced by network founder and filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, the supernatural crime saga (based on the cult classic film of the same name) will feature Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day, The X-Files) as Jacob Fuller, Madison Davenport (Save Me, Shameless) as Kate Fuller, Brandon Soo Hoo (Tropic Thunder, Ender’s Game, Incredible Crew) as Scott Fuller and Eiza González (Lola: Érase Una Vez) as Santánico Pandemonium.  The 10-episode serialized drama will serve as the first original scripted series to air on the new genre-busting cable network.  El Rey Network will debut nationally in December 2013.
Eiza González recreates the role of Santánico Pandemonium, credited for launching Salma Hayek’s film career.  Robert Patrick portrays Jacob Fuller, father to Kate Fuller (Davenport) and Scott Fuller (Soo Hoo), who are held hostage by main characters, Seth and Richie Gecko and find themselves along for the ride of their life.  They join previously announced D.J. Cotrona (Dear John, G.I. Joe: Retaliation) who plays Seth Gecko, Zane Holtz (Holes, The Perks of Being a Wallflower) as Richie Gecko; Jesse Garcia (Quinceañera, Sons of Anarchy) who plays Texas Ranger Freddie Gonzalez, a new character created for the series, and Don Johnson (Django Unchained, Nash Bridges) who joins in a recurring role as Sheriff Earl McGraw.
Based on the thrill-ride film, “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series” is a supernatural crime saga centered around bank robber, Seth Gecko (Cotrona) and his violent, unpredictable brother, Richard “Richie” Gecko (Holtz), who are wanted by the FBI and Texas Rangers Earl McGraw (Johnson) and Freddie Gonzalez (Garcia) after a bank heist left several people dead. While on the run to Mexico, Seth and Richie encounter former minister Jacob Fuller (Patrick) and his family, whom they take hostage.  Using the family RV to cross the border, chaos ensues when the group detours to a strip club that is populated by vampires.  They are forced to fight until dawn in order to get out alive. The series deepens the tone of the film, adds new characters and backstories and expands the Mesoamerican mythology behind the creatures inside the club.
Robert Patrick has worked with some of the top actors and directors in his field for the last 20 years. His breakthrough role came as the legendary T-1000 in Terminator 2 and since then, he has worked on iconic films and television shows including Die Hard 2, Wayne's World, Last Action Hero, Fire in the Sky, Cop Land, The Faculty, Walk the Line, Bridge to Terabithia, Spy Kids, Flags of Our Fathers and on the television hits Sons of Anarchy, The Sopranos, The Outer Limits, Elvis, The Unit and The X-Files. He was seen this past season as a series regular on HBO’s True Blood and this past summer in the Radius/Weinstein feature Lovelace opposite Sharon Stone and Amanda Seyfried.  Recent films include Universal Picture’s Identity Thief with Melissa McCarthy and Jason Bateman, Warner Bros.’ Gangster Squad and Trouble With the Curve opposite Clint Eastwood. Patrick also recently wrapped filming on the feature films Endless Love and The Road Within.  In October 2012, Robert once again participated in the 29th Annual Love Ride-serving as Honorary Grand Marshal alongside Peter Fonda in the longest running motorcycle charity event in the world.  This year’s event benefited the USO.  He is also the Charter Holder of Chapter 101 of the Boozefighters Motorcycle Club-Chapter 101 a non-profit group of motorcycle enthusiasts who raise money for Veterans and disabled Vets. Boozefighters Motorcycle Club is one of the oldest active and prestigious motorcycle clubs in the World and the only recognized by the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee with a permanent display. He currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife Barbara and their two children.
Eiza González is a Mexican singer, songwriter and actress. The 23-year-old actress will co-star in the upcoming Adrian Cervantes-directed comedy, All Hail the Squash Blossom Queen and can next be seen in Casi Treinta (Almost Thirty), directed by Alejandro Sugich.  She has starred in numerous television series, including the hit Lola: Érase Una Vez (Lola: Once Upon a Time) and Nickelodeon's Suena Conmigo (Dream with Me).  Eiza recorded five albums for these two series, as well as two other albums as a solo artist.  She is signed with Universal Music.  Most recently, she starred in Amores Verdaderos (True Loves), drawing 7.6 million viewers to the finale, on Univision.  Her voiceover credits include DreamWorks' The Croods and Twentieth Century Fox's Alvin and the Chipmunks and Horton Hears a Who!  She has appeared on hundreds of magazine covers, including last month's Glamour Mexico, this month's GQ Mexico, and next January's Cosmopolitan Mexico.  Eiza is managed by Glenda Reyna of GR & EG Artist Management. She is represented by CAA.

At the young age of sixteen, Madison Davenport is already an industry veteran, having acted professionally since the age of seven.  She just wrapped production on Darren Aronofsky’s biblical epic Noah, where she shares the screen with Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson and Anthony Hopkins. Paramount will release the film in 2014.  On television, Madison was recently seen on NBC’s Save Me and is also known for her role on the hit Showtime series Shameless in which she delivered a memorable performance as an abused child-bride, the fan favorite character of ‘Ethel.’  She has guest starred on Numb3rs, Bones, ER, CSI, House, the pilot Close to Home, and the TV movie Amish Grace. Her breakout performance as ‘Ruthie’ in the HBO films release Kit Kittridge, the first feature film in the American Girl franchise, garnered her the Young Artist Award for Best Performance in 2009.  She was also seen in Lionsgate’s supernatural horror flick The Possession (opposite Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick) which hit #1 at the box office two weekends in a row.  Born in Texas, Madison currently resides in LA with her family.

A five time Young Artist Award winner and nominee, 18-year-old Brandon Soo Hoo began his career at the age of 10 when he was featured in TV ads for Toys “R” Us, Land Rover and ExxonMobil. The following year, Brandon was featured in Sesame Street and Disney Channel’s What’s the Word. He made his film debut in Ben Stiller’s Tropic Thunder as Tran, earning him a Young Artist Award. In 2009, Brandon played Young Storm Shadow in G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra, earning him another nomination for a Young Artist Award. That year, he also co-starred in Ellen Gittelsohn’s Chico’s Kidz. In addition, he has been featured in numerous TV series including My Name is Earl, ‘Til Death, Family Guy, Community and Workaholics. Brandon also had a recurring role in Nickelodeon’s Supah Ninjas and starred in Nick Cannon’s sketch comedy series for Cartoon Network, Incredible Crew. Most recently, Brandon co-starred in the Nickelodeon series, Instant Mom and the feature film, Terry the Tomboy, based on Nickelodeon's popular sketch comedy series, AwesomenessTV.  A Tae Kwon Do black belt since the age of 10, Brandon also toured with the martial arts troupe Sideswipe Live in 2009 and 2010. He lives in Los Angeles with his parents and his sister.

Fialkov and Infurnari's THE BUNKER Comes to Oni Press!
The Hit Digital Series Sees New Life in Print

Portland, OR (November 15, 2013) – “One thing caused the end of the world. You.” So reads the first letter extracted from THE BUNKER. A group of friends on the verge of starting their adult lives get a shocking glimpse of what they may cause.   This is the gripping question posed in the critically-acclaimed, smash hit digital series THE BUNKER.

Joshua Hale Fialkov and Joe Infurnari’s creator-owned series burned up the ComiXology charts as one of the most successful titles of their fledgling Submit program earlier this year. Pairing an epic sci-fi scope with the grounding of a tight, personal drama, THE BUNKER offered fans a fresh, new perspective and an instantly engrossing plot from two comics veterans.

Now Oni Press is thrilled to announce that their pioneering work will see a new release in print beginning in February of 2014.

“This book has been a passion project for Joe and I from the start, and we took the decision of a publishing partner extremely seriously,” says writer Joshua Hale Fialkov, best known for his Eisner-nominated graphic novel Tumor as well as work on The Ultimates, and I, Vampire. “We had such a great experience doing it on our own, with ComiXology’s support, that we wanted to continue that journey. In Oni Press, we’ve found a group of the hardest working folk in comics, who want our vision delivered to as big an audience as possible. We could not be happier.”

THE BUNKER #1 will collect the first five chapters of Fialkov and Infurnari’s digital series, reformatted and remastered for a traditional comic book size and clocking in at 48 pages for $3.99.

After this perfect introductory issue, THE BUNKER’s twisting, mysterious tale will continue on as an ongoing series. In addition to portions of the existing pages being updated and redrawn to share new secrets of the Bunker, Infurnari is also enhancing the color palette to the previously single toned pages.

"THE BUNKER is the kind of smart, character-driven genre fiction we love,” said Oni Press’ Editor in Chief James Lucas Jones. “From the moment our Publisher Joe Nozemack read the first issue, he knew it was something we needed to publish. We're excited to be embarking on the next phase of THE BUNKER with Josh & Joe and can't wait for readers in both the print and digital markets to see what they have planned."

Simply put, THE BUNKER is one of the most engrossing and original series to hit comics in recent memory, and Oni Press is proud to have it join the ranks of their rich library of creator-owned comics.

In February of 2014, the future ends here.
CHILDREN OF THE PRE-APOCALYPSE
ARE ANYTHING BUT SHELTERED
Critically-acclaimed story of kids taking survival into their own hands
available in trade paperback

SHELTERED, vol. 1

In a pre-apocalyptic world where any day could be humanity’s last, the youth of Safe Haven make a decision based on self-preservation. With limited resources and the end of the world swiftly approaching, the kids band together to kill off their parents and take society into their own hands. The first five issues of Ed Brisson (COMEBACK, Secret Avengers) and Johnnie Christmas's (Continuum: The War Files) SHELTERED, an unnerving series about what happens when logistics of survival trump empathy, will be collected in trade paperback form on December 11.

Praise for SHELTERED:
"Sheltered #1 is a solid debut, one that should have readers back next month for the next installment. I'll definitely come back for more.” --Greg McElhatton, Comic Book Resources

Sheltered #1 begins to prove its true worth when it tears away from the obvious comparisons and the starting-point premise that has been well-tread in modern science fiction and horror.” --Vince Ostrowski, Multiversity Comics

“Depending how they handle things, this could easily turn into the epic that The Walking Dead has in a post-apocalyptic setting.” --Stuart Conover, ScienceFiction.com

“With its startling conclusion and inventive set-up, the team behind Sheltered is off to a stellar start. It's getting harder and harder to put a fresh spin on end-of-the-world narratives, but Brisson and Christmas have made it look easy.” --Melissa Grey, IGN

“It's rare when a new comic book series can surprise you… Sheltered starts off with a different take on the survival stories we've seen many times. If that wasn't enough, Ed Brisson completely pulls the rug out from underneath your feet. Getting something new and different is such a treat.” --Tony Guerrero, Comic Vine

Sheltered #1 leaves readers with a surprising twist at the last page. I can't wait to see what happens in the second issue.” --Jorge Solis, Bloody Disgusting

Sheltered is a gut check. Brisson and Christmas have decided to come out swinging. A great read.” --Iann Robinson, Crave Online

The first volume of SHELTERED collects issues 1-5 of the series and hits stores on December 11, 2014 for $9.99. Pre-orders can be placed using Diamond Code OCT130500.

LOOK INTO THE FACE OF VENGEANCE
WITH THE REVENGER #1
A new revenge series set amongst the seedy underbelly of Hollywood from Jonathan Ross and Ian Churchill

The more time you spend on the Hollywood B-list (or in Griffin Franks’ case, the C-list), the more the value of being on the top of the heap increases, but with fame comes an increased number of enemies, too. A new series of violence and vengeance in the Hollywood Hills, THE REVENGER #1 from JONATHAN ROSS (TURF, AMERICA’S GOT POWERS) and IAN CHURCHILL (MARINEMAN) is the beginning of a face-off between one man and the people who took away his dream.

When Franks shoots to the top of his game and gains the recognition and Hollywood fame he’s always dreamed of, he becomes a target. He’s a star celebrity, his movie’s a hit, and his wife leaves men drooling in her wake. But just when he feels like he’s finally “made it” someone decides to rip the rug out from underneath him... and the face off his skull.

Praise for Jonathan Ross:

“Jonathan Ross is not a name that many comic fans are familiar with. To many, he just seemed like another celebrity sneaking into the world of comics because it's the cool thing to do nowadays. Then he wrote Turf and it was really good. Really, really good. Now, he's got America's Got Powers and proves he is no one trick pony. It's well written, expertly paced, and incredibly engaging.” --Benjamin Bailey, IGN

“Ross throws a lot of things at the reader, but never do they feel overwhelmed. Ross frames the story in a way that slowly peels the layers back on the history while also subtly throwing hints at the way the world works.” --Kevin Finnigan, Comic Book Therapy

“Superb writing, Mr. Ross.” --Tommy Hancock, Fanboy Buzz

“[Jonathan Ross] shows a gift for plot and dialogue.” --Chuck’s Comic of the Day

Join Griffin Franks on his quest for revenge in THE REVENGER #1, which will be available in stores on February 26, 2014 for $2.99. Pre-orders can be placed using Diamond Code DEC130487.

A preview of THE REVENGER #1 will appear in ELEPHANTMEN #52, by Richard Starkings and Alex Medellin, on sale 12/4.

Darby Pop Launches New Line Of Comic Books With Jeff Kline’s Indestructible
Super Slacker Becomes Super Hero

San Diego, CA (November 15, 2013) – Darby Pop Publishing in partnership with IDW launches the first in its new line of all-original comic books this December with the release of the satiric superhero tale, Indestructible.

Indestructible is the story of a not-so-heroic slacker, Greg Pincus who when he finds himself in the wrong place at the right time, thwarts a robbery with what the general public believes to be “superpowers.”

This ongoing series will explore the pitfalls of celebrity, and examine just how far an “average Joe” will go to maintain his (potentially lethal) fame and the perks that come with it.

Indestructible #1 is written by Jeff Kline, penciled by Javi Garron, inked by Salvi Garcia and colored by Alejandro Sanchez.  Jose Lopez is providing the main cover, with Bernard Chang providing a special subscription variant cover.

Jeff Kline has been responsible for more than 40 animated and live-action television series and pilots including Transformers Prime, and G.I. Joe: Renegades.  His passion for storytelling also led him to found Darby Pop Publishing in early 2013.

ALEX + ADA, UMBRAL, and MANIFEST DESTINY mark a banner week for fantasy and science-fiction comics and creator-owned comics

Three debut series from Image Comics, two fantasy and one science-fiction, were met with immediate enthusiasm from readers and received critical acclaim from the pressAmong the three was the first issue of ALEX + ADA from Jonathan Luna (GIRLS, THE SWORD) and Sarah Vaughn (Sparkshooter), a science-fiction drama set in the near future about a man who forms a unique bond with an android. In light of its success, ALEX + ADA has been expanded from 12 issues to a 15-issue series.

Adding to the excitement, UMBRAL #1, a brand new dark fantasy adventure series from Antony Johnston (WASTELAND, Daredevil) and Christopher Mitten (WASTELAND, Batman) has enchanted fans. This story of a thief accidentally discovering the beginnings of a demonic invasion blends paranoia, magic, and dark prophecies.

These new series instantly picked up momentum and found a strong readership.

Praise for ALEX + ADA #1:

“Luna and Vaughan have taken what could have been a derivative story about androids and the humans who love them and turned it into a promising debut.” --Melissa Grey, IGN

Praise for UMBRAL #1:
“The end result is exactly the combination of dreamworld and darkness readers would expect from a nightmare, giving the world a very distinct look and feel. Who needs the map in the front to establish a world when the art is this impressive?” --Marykate Jasper, Comic Book Resources

“Experimenting with genre conventions from Arthurian lore and Lovecraft, Johnson, Mitten, and Rauch have created a whole new fantasy world that is just ripe for stories.” --James Johnston, Multiversity Comics

It's well worth a read. Trust me.” --Jeremy James, Geeked Out Nation

SOLVE THE CASE & PREVENT THE END OF THE WORLD:
ALL IN A DAY’S WORK FOR APOCALYPSE AL
The latest from J. Michael Straczynski and Joe's Comics: An action-packed miniseries full of monsters, demons, dead boyfriends and attitude

APOCALYPSE AL #1

In 2013 MTV Geek announced plans to publish a new four-part miniseries entitled THE ADVENTURES OF APOCALYPSE AL, written by J. Michael Straczynski (SIDEKICK, TEN GRAND) and drawn by Sid Kotian (TWILIGHT GUARDIAN), with colors by Bill Farmer (EPOCH). The series follows the action-packed, fast-paced, surreal, and comically strange tale of Allison Carter, a private investigator whose beat is the end of the world...or more precisely, preventing same. When MTV Geek closed its doors in October, imperiling the project, Joe’s Comics and Studio JMS leapt in to reacquire the material with the assistance of MTV’s Tom Akel.

Consequently, in February 2014, THE ADVENTURES OF APOCALYPSE AL debuts from Joe’s Comics with an oversized first issue containing 30 pages of original story, unbroken by advertisements, and accompanied by an audio dramatization that has become the trademark of Joe’s Comics. All four issues—107 pages in all—are written, drawn and inked, guaranteeing that they will come out on time. In addition to the covers by Sid Kotian, covers will be provided by Francesco Francavilla and the legendary John Romita Jr. This marks the first time Romita and Straczynski have worked together since their celebrated run on The Amazing Spider-Man.

When a mysterious figure gets his hands on the Book of Keys, whose secrets can cause the destruction of the world, Allison Carter is the only one who can stop him. Her journey takes her through a world populated by zombie cops, machinegun toting imps, techno-wizards, closet trolls, demonic theme parks, other dimensions, Ultimate Darkness, and an undead ex-boyfriend.

“After doing three titles about demons, despair and death, more or less in that order, this is the first title from Joe’s Comics that’s about sheer, unadulterated fun,” said Straczynski. “It’s light-hearted and funny, its heart is in the right place, the action never stops, and it features a smart, strong hero who has a habit of saying exactly the wrong thing at exactly the right moment. If you liked Ghostbusters and Men in Black, this is the book for you.”

India-based artist Sid Kotian is a fast-rising star in the comics field, having worked on such titles as Hawken and Twilight Guardian. “His work on The Adventures of Apocalypse Al is some of his most stunning to date,” Straczynski said. “His work has a modern, fresh and fluid look, it’s just a beautiful book. We were so knocked out by his work on Al that we hired him to do the art for DREAM POLICE, a twelve-part maxiseries coming out from Joe’s Comics later in 2014.”

“Joe’s script for Apocalypse Al is a balance of noir, humor, horror and just the right amount of serious moments at the right spot,” said Kotian. “It was challenging trying to match the visuals to the soul of the story. I don’t think I’ve ever redrawn so many pages trying to do just that. I had a great time drawing it though and I'm sure the fans will love it.”

“With Apocalypse Al Joe blends a supernatural adventure story with a pulp sensibility crafted around a character who is one part Indiana Jones and one part Ellen Ripley. Allison Carter is the take charge, fast talking action heroine with a sharp tongue and nerves of steel fans have been waiting for,” said Phil Smith, Production Editor.

While most of the major comics companies are shortening their titles, each issue of THE ADVENTURES OF APOCALYPSE AL is oversized, giving readers more story and more bang for the buck at the same price as a regular issue. Issue one has 30 pages of story; issue two, 28 pages of story; issue three, 28 pages of story; and issue four, 21 pages of story plus additional pages of bonus features.
