IDW GAMES SOLVES THE PURRRFECT CRIME WITH
PURRRLOCK HOLMES: FURRIARTY'S TRAIL
Bewhiskered crime-solving icon catches the hairiest criminal by the tail
Friday, February 24, 2017

You’ve "cat" to be serious when it comes to cracking the case. And there is no detective more serious than Purrrlock Holmes. That’s what this game is about: deduction, and ridiculously over-dressed cats.

"We're incredibly excited to be bringing this game to market," Jerry Bennington, VP of New Product Development says. "It's already started to develop a strong following of cat, pun, and cat-pun-loving fans."

Furriarty is "litter-ally" terrorizing London and it’s up to Purrrlock Holmes to stop him before he escapes. Baker Street is awash with suspects, ranging from a gloomy Toad to a sorrowful Goose. It’s up to you, the Inspector on the case, to decide whether they are actual suspects or pawns in Furriarty’s masterplan. That Furriarty sure is a "paw" excuse for a well-to-do cat.

The gameplay is simple and appeals to a wide audience: each player draws a Hidden Suspect card. Players take turns making guesses using an interesting clock mechanic about their unknown suspect’s identity. The other players (who can see every suspect but their own) will tell you if you’ve got a lead on your suspect. If not, it’s a dead-end. Figure out enough leads, deduce the suspect’s identity, and you get to snag a clue that leads to Furriarty.

Each clue is labeled with a variable number of victory points. Every round, Furriarty pads his way closer to escape, putting tension on the players to guess, and guess fast, to solve the case. If you can deduce enough suspects, collect enough Paw Print tokens, you may be able to overtake Furriarty before he scrams.

Rub Furriarty the wrong way, and it’s the litter box for you!

The interesting part of the game is that when you successfully guess your suspect, and go to collect a Paw Print token, other players will not know how many points are listed on that clue token. Cat-hairs raise on your neck when you look across the table, unable to ascertain just how many points each player has collected, further heightening the tension. Catch up with Furriarty, and you score a major point advantage. At the end of the game, if Furriarty is caught, the player with the most victory points listed on their Paw Print tokens wins.

“Deduction is elementary, my dear Whiskers.”

Head out the door of 21 Baker Street to your local store. At $24.99, the game is afoot (or, a-paw, if you will).

DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT AND PAIZO PUBLISHING
FOLLOW THE BESTSELLING WORLDSCAPE CROSSOVER WITH THE
NEXT CHAPTER IN THE PATHFINDER FRANCHISE: RUNESCARS!

February 23, 2017, Mt. Laurel, NJ: Dynamite Entertainment is proud to announce the next series of canonical comics tied into the popular Paizo RPG game, Pathfinder! Debuting in May, Pathfinder: Runescars is written by Pathfinder co-creators F. Wesley Schneider (Pathfinder: Hollow Mountain, Pathfinder Tales: Bloodbound) and James L. Sutter (Pathfinder: Goblins, Pathfinder: Hollow Mountain), with art from Ediano Silva (Grimm Fairy Tales, Hellchild: The Unholy).

An exciting new Pathfinder adventure begins! The Pathfinder heroes receive a desperate plea to unmask a killer stalking the chaos-gripped city of Korvosa. A new queen has ascended the city's Crimson Throne, and now deadly armored Hellknights and Gray Maidens clash in the streets. With the help of a cagey adventuring detective, the heroes race down the perilous trail of a brutal murderer - only to realize that the next target might be one of their own! Dare the magic and monsters of gothic Korvosa in the first sword-swinging issue, complete with pull-out poster map and official Pathfinder RPG bonus encounter.

"I'm extremely excited to be getting two-thirds of the Pathfinder: Hollow Mountain writing team back together for Pathfinder: Runescars!," says James L. Sutter, Paizo Senior Editor. "Wes and I have been writing together for a decade now, constantly pushing each other to create better plot twists and funnier jokes, and I think you can see that synergy at work from the very first issue of this new series. We're going to be revealing some secrets in this one that fans have been asking about since the very beginning of the game, so I can't wait to see people's reactions!"

"Pathfinder: Hollow Mountain gave us a chance to explore the Pathfinder world from inside the dungeon. With Pathfinder: Runescars, Sutter and I are taking that same approach to the streets," says F. Wesley Schneider, Paizo Editor-in-Chief. "We're totally jazzed to explore Korvosa, not just because it's one of Pathfinder's most adventure-packed cities, but because we've been detailing the place with Paizo's incredible creative team for more than ten years! While we're visiting, we're absolutely planning to show off as many fan-favorite creatures and characters as we can - like notorious Gray Maidens and merciless Hellknights! We're also revealing a few schemes we've had in the works for quite a while now. No sword-and-sorcery reader - and certainly no Pathfinder fan - should miss it!"

"Our publishing partnership with Erik Mona and the team at Paizo has been as rewarding for fantasy comics fans as well as fans of the game itself," says Dynamite CEO and publisher, Nick Barrucci. "What makes this line of comics so unique is that each series not only ties into the game's story, but makes the stories themselves playable to enhance the gaming experience. With the game's co-creators handling the writing duties on Runescars, you can bet this is going to be one of the best Pathfinder adventures yet!"

"Dynamite's Pathfinder comics present a great opportunity to learn more about the Pathfinder world's iconic adventuring heroes, as well as more depth and detail about the world of Golarion itself," says Paizo Publisher and Chief Creative Officer, Erik Mona. "This time, world co-creators F. Wesley Schneider and James L. Sutter weave a tale of mystery and high magic that finally unlocks the secret of the sorcerer Seoni's magic tattoos! I'm excited to find out the answer to the riddle myself!"

Pathfinder: Runescars #1 will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors' March 2017 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in May. Comic book fans are encouraged to reserve copies with their local comic book retailers. Pathfinder: Runescars will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Dynamite Digital, iVerse, and Dark Horse Digital.

Laurel, NJ: Since 2007, Dynamite Entertainment has been the home to many of the Golden Age of Comics' greatest heroes -- characters like Black Terror, the Green Lama, the Death-Defying Devil, Masquerade, The Owl, and dozens more -- in the pages of Project Superpowers. Industry legends like Alex Ross, Jim Krueger, and Warren Ellis were among the many exceptional talents to reimagine these heroes for a modern audience, frequently in epic storylines with intense interpersonal intrigue and world-spanning stakes. Now, Dynamite welcomes aboard the incredible team of Ryan Browne (God Hates Astronauts) and Pete Wood (RobinDeadpool), two creators who dare to deliver an altogether unexpected, satirical take on the classic superhero mythos with Project Superpowers: Hero Killers.

Welcome to Libertyville, USA... home to too damn many superheroes! When all crime is soon eradicated, a handful of heroes leave for greener pastures, but most stay for the affordable housing, hoping to rise to the top and become the legendary hero who saved the world's greatest metropolis. Captain Battle Jr., Sparky, and an unfortunate crime-fighter named Tim try to stand out, but it's hard to do in a city full of capes stopping every misdemeanor with a spandex-wrapped flourish. Things get weird when these three lad companions try to get to the criminals before their bosses do!

Ryan Brown says, "These ain't your great-great-granddaddy's superheroes... unless your great-great-granddaddy is super-cool and has a wonderful sense of humor. Then these actually are your great-great-granddaddy's superheroes."

"We're taking characters and concepts that have been around since the beginning of comics and turning them upside down," says Pete Woods. "This is going to be a fun ride for the readers and the creators alike. I'm having a blast."

"One of the things we pride ourselves on with Project Superpowers is the ability to bing in top creators and give them the ability to tell exactly the kind of superhero story that suits their tastes," says Dynamite CEO and publisher, Nick Barrucci. "When Ryan and Pete came up with a story to poke fun at superhero tropes with a witty take on the genre, we thought, 'Why not put it in the context our own universe for something wholly original?' This series is guaranteed to entertain any fan of superpowered storylines!"

"Taking a storied property and looking at it in a completely different way is always exciting, and doing it from a truly demented perspective is what helps me get out of bed in the morning. I'm up!" says Matt Idelson, Senior Editor.

Project Superpowers: Hero Killers #1 will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors' March 2017 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in May. Comic book fans are encouraged to reserve copies with their local comic book retailers. Project Superpowers: Hero Killers will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Dynamite Digital, iVerse, and Dark Horse Digital.

Caliber Comics releases 5 Graphic Novels with Diamond Comic Distributors

February 23, 2017.  Caliber Comics is proud to announce the release of five exciting graphic novels in Diamond’s March solicitations for delivery to retailers in May. These books are currently available to order through Diamond Previews.

DAYS OF WRATH:  Award winning historical comic writer and artist Wayne Vansant (DAYS OF DARKNESS) brings his gripping World War II saga of war in the Pacific to Guadalcanal and the Battle of Bloody Ridge. This is the powerful story of the long, vicious battle for Guadalcanal that occurred in 1942-43. When the U.S. Navy orders its outnumbered and outgunned ships to run from the Japanese fleet, they abandon American troops on a bloody, battered island in the South Pacific. As the men left on Guadalcanal find out that there will be no prisoners taken on either side, it is a kill or be killed battlefield as the stranded U.S. Marines fight against overwhelming odds and hope for reinforcements before it’s too late. As the events unfold, a U.S. Marine unit is deployed onto a small grassy hill to hold off the onslaught of Japanese assault troops. The three day-three night battle that ensues will go down in history as the Battle of Bloody Ridge. 112 pages. DIAMOND  # MAR171560  $16.99.

WAR OF THE WORLDS: INFESTATION: The “Martian Invasion” has begun again and now mankind must fight, not only for their homes, but for their very humanity. Aliens were the stuff of legends, fairy tales, to scare children or to entertain those wanting to escape the mundane existence of their lives. But as mankind busied itself about their petty affairs, they were being scrutinized and studied, perhaps as narrowly as a scientist might watch under the microscope of the microbes that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. It happened slowly at first but by the third year, it seemed that the war was almost over…the war was almost lost. And humanity was not going to be the winner as the Martians unleashed a new bio weapon on the Earth. From Randy Zimmerman (TALES OF THE ANIVERSE). "Writer Randy Zimmerman has a fine grasp of drama, and spins the various strands of the story into a coherent whole...imaginative and very gritty." - war-of-the-worlds.co.uk. 128 Pages. DIAMOND  # MAR171563  $14.99.

BECK AND CAUL INVESTIGATIONS:  The entire series collected for the first time in 20 years. There is a place where evil lives. Where all of mankind's nightmares are a reality. It is the Underside. From this realm of myth and shadow was born Jonas Beck who teams up with a young woman, Mercedes Guillane and their paths meld into one...to battle evil in all its guises. Set in the voodoo influenced city of New Orleans, Beck and Caul are paranormal detectives who scrounge the streets of this dark, mystical city in order to combat and protect people from supernatural attacks and occurrences. Coming to terms with their own possible supernatural origins presents an intriguing irony as they attempt to prevent an onslaught of demonic forces originating from the Underside as creatures of the night seek to reclaim the Earth. From Reginald Chaney and Paul Kowalski (U.N.FORCE). 248 Pages. DIAMOND  # MAR171559  $19.99.

TROY: AN EMPIRE UNDER SIEGE:  Achilles, Agamemnon, Ajax, Diomedes, Hector, Helen, Odysseus, Paris...some of the greatest names in history based on the greatest epic in literature...the Iliad. Here is a retelling of the classic epic but from the human perspective rather than that of the Gods. Covered are the events that led to the Trojan War and what the consequences were. All the great heroes are here, in all their glory and all their failings. The struggle for Troy was a war that lasted for ten years and the epic saga from Homer has influenced literature since the day it was conceived. The Greeks and the Trojans. They fought over the woman known as Helen, claimed to be the most beautiful woman in the world. "The face that launched a thousand ships". Here is the story of that war...the story of Troy. Written by Gary Reed (DEADWORLD, RENFILED) and illustrated by French artist Philip Xavier (LEGENDLORE). 112 pages. DIAMOND # MAR171562 $12.99.

P.I. JANE: THE SALAD DAYS:  Veronica Mars meets The Office. Jane Day's a twenty-something temp-by-day, detective-by-night... and also sometimes during the day. Jane straddles two worlds: Reality - in boring gray scale - and her Imagination - in full, vibrant color. Jane uses the fantasy to cut through the tedium, living as much inside her head as out. And solving strange cases with pop culture relevance as only she can. Collecting the popular webcomic series by Lauren Burke, Greg Sorkin, and Antonio Maldonado. “Fans of The Venture Bros. or Buffy will enjoy the humor of this comic and will want to catch up on the fun that is P.I. Jane!” - Crisp Comics. “A sassy webcomic with plenty of pop.” – Comic Book and Movie Reviews.com.  122 pages. Color. DIAMOND  # MAR171561 $18.99.
