This is, of course, Thelma Mae Crowley Harper, Lawrence's indelible, abrasive and smart alecky alter ego who would eventually be spun-off into her own delightfully offbeat sitcom "Mama's Family," which debuted on NBC on January 22, 1983 and ran for six seasons. This July, StarVista Entertainment/Time Life, in conjunction with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, invites all classic TV aficionados and sitcom lovers to spend some quality time with one of television's original dysfunctional families with MAMA'S FAMILY: THE COMPLETE SERIES. Set in the fictional city of Raytown, MAMA'S FAMILY revolves around the eye-opening escapades of the Harper clan, headed by formidable matriarch, Mama Harper, a fiery-tempered no-nonsense woman who does not suffer fools gladly.  In fact, she makes everybody suffer a little with her patented snappy retorts that truly put the "diss" in dysfunction.  Across 130 thirty-minute episodes spanning six seasons, viewers are treated to hilarious - and sometimes heart-warming -- family comedy of the highest degree.  Adding to the unforgettable mix are Mama's journalist sister, Fran (Rue McClanahan, The Golden Girls), who lives with her; her youngest son, Vint (Ken Berry, F-Troop), who moves in with his two teenagers after he is evicted; and Naomi (Dorothy Lyman, All My Children), who marries Vint by Episode 4.  Mama's extended family includes her two daughters, highfalutin' Ellen (Betty White) and high-strung Eunice (Carol Burnett), as well as Eunice's husband, Ed (Harvey Korman).

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Cartoon Network will once again offer the ultimate fan experience both on and off the convention floor. Taking center stage is an Adventure Time themed booth on the convention floor showcasing the Ice King’s iconic castle with an exclusive fan-centric photo opportunity. Fans again have the opportunity to collect exclusive Comic-Con giveaways including five different Adventure Time buttons.
Directly across the street from the Convention Center, Cartoon Network has joined forces for a second year with the New Children’s Museum of San Diego to offer families and kids-of-all ages a unique immersive experience. Taking its inspiration from the Emmy® award-winning series Regular Show, Cartoon Network will transform The New Children’s Museum into the Regular Show Regular Zone – a sensory feast complete with nostalgic 80’s arcade games, Regular Show inspired video games, and groovy neon lighting. Topping the museum with ginormous inflatables of series stars Mordecai and Rigby, Comic-Con goers won’t be able to miss the Regular Show Regular Zone at The New Children’s Museum which is open and free of charge throughout San Diego Comic-Con 2013.
For the first time ever, Cartoon Network will host back-to-back panels of fan favorite series Adventure Time and Regular Show at the Hilton Bayfront on Friday, June 19. LUNA SEA is a legendary J-rock band that formed in 1989 and the group is considered one of the most successful and influential of the Visual Kei movement. Faced with the overwhelming disaster immediately following the massive Tohoku Earthquake on 3/11/2011, the iconic J-rock band LUNA SEA released a brand new song, “PROMISE.” The band also staged a massive charity concert at the Saitama Super Area – “LUNA SEA for JAPAN A Promise to The Brave 2012 In Sendai” – to provide relief and raise funds for the Japanese Red Cross. The 2-hour concert film captures the emotion and power of that show.

LUNA SEA is the most successful and influential of the Visual Kei movement that swept Japan throughout the 90s. Founded by bassist J and rhythm guitarist INORAN while still in high school, the band was originally called Lunacy. In 1989 they recruited vocalist RYUICHI, lead guitarist SUGIZO, and drummer Shinya, a line-up that has remained constant ever since. Their storied career and alt rock sound continues to inspire many of the latest Japanese bands. LUNA SEA enjoyed massive popularity in Japan throughout the 90s and performed on tours across Asia, Europe, and also played at the historic Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, CA. The group disbanded in 2000, and its members pursued various solo careers, before reforming in 2010 for a series of special tours and concerts. Adult Swim Announces Annual San Diego Comic-Con Invasion

New Adult Swim Funhouse Will Dazzle and Delight

This year at San Diego Comic-Con, Adult Swim will be bringing even more entertainment, celebrities and one-of-a-kind fan experiences to their adoring fans. Adult Swim programming panels run from Thursday to Saturday, featuring creators, producers and actors from fan favorites The Venture Bros., Childrens Hospital, NTSF:SD:SUV::, Robot Chicken, Aqua TV Show Show, Squidbillies, The Eric Andre Show, The Heart, She Holler, China, IL, and sneak peeks of several new and upcoming series such as Rick and Morty, Hot Package, King Star King, and Mr. Pickles.  Adult Swim stars on hand will include Rob Corddry, Paul Scheer, Jackson Publick, Doc Hammer, Seth Green, Patton Oswalt, Amy Sedaris, Eric Andre, Hannibal Buress, and many more.  Fans can also stop by the Adult Swim booth #3721 to enjoy free mini massages and a place to escape from the hectic pace of the convention floor.
Also not to be missed, the Adult Swim Funhouse will be making its official grand opening at San Diego Comic-Con, to the delight and confusion of attendees.  The magic castle will be erected across from the convention center, in the Petco Park parking lot just over the footbridge.  Fans will have a chance to enter the world of Adult Swim and get lost within the 10+ rooms. The multiple paths and room challenges will force guests to crawl, dance, and sing their way to get to the end. Those fans who survive and emerge from the Adult Swim Funhouse will receive free custom live screen printed t-shirts. Free for fans, tickets will be distributed at the Funhouse each day starting at 4:00 p.m. and will be open Thursday, July 18 – Saturday, July 20 from 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. each night.

Michôd’s follow-up to critically acclaimed Animal Kingdom stars Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson.
 
New York, NY (June 27, 2013) – A24 today announced the acquisition of David Michôd’s latest film THE ROVER for theatrical release in the U.S. The slow-burn thriller stars Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson and is set in the Australian desert in a dangerous and damaged near future. The film was written by Michôd and based on a story conceived by Michôd and Joel Edgerton.  THE ROVER was produced by Liz Watts for Porchlight Film and David Linde under his Lava Bear Films banner, along with Michôd.  The film also co-stars Scoot McNairy, David Field, Anthony Hayes, Gillian Jones and Susan Prior.  Celebrated Argentinean filmmaker Natsha Braier acted as Director of Photography and Michôd also teamed up again with Animal Kingdom Production Designer, Jo Ford.
 
THE ROVER is set in a world ten years following the collapse of the western economic system, where Australia’s mineral resources have drawn the desperados and dangerous to its shores. With society in decline, the rule of law has disintegrated and life is cheap.  The film follows hardened loner Eric (Pearce), who travels the desolate towns and roads of the Australian outback. When a gang of thieves steals his car they leave behind the wounded Rey (Pattinson) in their wake. Forcing Rey to help track the gang, Eric will go to any lengths to take back the one thing that matters to him.

Soon after confirming the U.S. deal producers Liz Watts and David Linde commented that ”A24 is a perfect fit for THE ROVER  - a young, innovative and exciting company at the cutting edge of the independent sector in the US, they have contributed to an already exciting array of global distribution partners, and we are pleased to be partnering with them on the future release of the film.”
  
A24 negotiated the deal with UTA Independent Film Group on behalf of the filmmakers and FilmNation Entertainment. UTA also represents Michôd. Prior to selling the U.S. rights to A24, FilmNation Entertainment licensed the film to a majority of territories worldwide based on selectively showing a two-minute reel of footage from the film.
 
The film was shot this spring on location in the deserts of South Australia, and is currently in post-production in Sydney. Village Roadshow will release the film in Australia and New Zealand. THE ROVER’S investment partners include Screen Australia, the South Australian Film Corporation and Screen NSW, and financial partners Fulcrum Media and the Union Bank.

LAZARUS #1 STRIKES A NERVE, SELLS OUT
First issue of new Image Comics series by Rucka and Lark gets second printing
The first issue of LAZARUS, the new dystopian Image Comics series by Greg Rucka and Michael Lark, has sold out the day of its release. Called “absolutely riveting, complex and stunning” by Comic Book Resources, LAZARUS #1 is immediately going back to press. The second printing will be in stores on July 24, the same day as LAZARUS #2.

The story of Forever, an apparently-immortal young woman, who was created as a lethal bodyguard and enforcer for the powerful Carlyle family, LAZARUS is set in a society that is at once highly futuristic and regressively feudal. Concentrated wealth and technological knowledge has put a few families in control of the lives who those who work for them, and Forever’s job is to maintain her family’s hold on power.

As writer Rucka recounted in interviews at the New York Post and Beyond Chron, Forever’s story and society was influenced by the Occupy Movement’s concern about economic inequality. While gratified at the new series’ success, Rucka is hesitant to ascribe political motivations behind the success of LAZARUS, though he does feel the comic speaks to people’s present experiences.

“I'm not sure I'd claim that we've hit a particular chord or social note, but I do think Michael and I are talking about — at least as backdrop — a scenario driven by some very real-world concerns,” said Rucka. “Not that we're all headed to a genetically engineered future, or that the economic situation will become as dire and dark as we've painted it; but the fact is, we're living in a very unstable world, and economic instability is part of that, despite recent gains. I have friends who are worried about where their next meal is coming from, whether or not they'll be able to fill their gas tank, never mind their concerns for their future and the future of their children. That's our reality right now, and it doesn't take much imagination to extrapolate that to its worst.”

Asylum Press Transforms Zombie Terrors Into An Animated Comic Series available for Free on the iPad

June 27, 2013 – Los Angeles, CA – Asylum Press and Visionborne have joined forces to produce a slate of animated comics based on popular Asylum Press titles for the Apple iPad and other mobile devices. After the successful launch of fan-favorite Fearless Dawn #1, Zombie Terrors is the next in the lineup to be released exclusively through the Visionborne app that uses Airmid technology, a process that converts static 2D art into a vibrant 3D animated format that can be read and "experienced" using a reader app on iOS and Android.
