Panelists include Charlie Adlard (The Walking Dead), Ian Churchill (Marineman), David Hine (Strange Embrace, The Bulletproof Coffin), Kieron Gillen (Phonogram), and Paul Grist (Jack Staff).
During the following week, Starkings will sign at the following locations:
Monday, May 24, 1:00 p.m.
Forbidden Planet Cardiff
Tuesday, May 25, 1:00 p.m.
Travelling Man Manchester
Thursday, May 27, 1:00 p.m.
Travelling Man Leeds
Starkings will wrap up his trip May 29-30 at the London MCM Expo (http://www.londonexpo.com/) for two fun-filled days of comics, movies, games and more!
ELEPHANTMEN is an Eisner Award winning series first published in 2002 under Starkings' Active Images imprint. In 2006 Image Comics approached Starkings to bring the book under their umbrella. The story of the Elephantmen takes place in Los Angeles in the not too distant future -- in a world where human/animal hybrids were created to fight a war between Africa and China. Scarred by their experiences in war and seeking to somehow find their own humanity, the Elephantmen are now scattered throughout the world amongst the humans they were created to kill. ELEPHANTMEN is a brilliant commentary on racism, miscegenation, global warming, stem cell research and warfare. Created and written by Starkings, the series features artwork by Ladrönn, Moritat and Boo Cook. Earlier this year, the series was optioned by Zucker Productions for major motion picture development.
Don't miss your chance to meet Richard Starkings during a series of exclusive appearances in the UK, May 22-30, 2010.

Nick Spencer Teaches an Advanced Course in Sci-fi Mystery with MORNING GLORIES

This is a book that will keep the audience on the edge of its seat and coming back for more month after month, trying to put the pieces together -- and with Joe Eisma on art and Rodin Esquejo on covers, it's presented in an all-star package that will really make the book shine."
"This latest series from Nick Spencer may be his best yet," says Shadowline Publisher Jim Valentino. A GOOD GIRL GOES TO HELL
Artist Juan Jose Ryp and writer El Torres put NANCY IN HELL for Image Comics
Berkeley, CA - 19 May 2010 - How does a former cheerleader become a hardened hellraiser? Artist Juan Jose Ryp and writer El Torres answer that question with NANCY IN HELL, a four-issue miniseries that sends a good girl into a Hell filled with tortured souls, lusty demons, and armed outcasts.
Fans of Warren Ellis's BLACK SUMMER and NO HERO will recognize Ryp's highly detailed art style. Torres is the writer behind the critically acclaimed THE VEIL as well as ZOMBIES!: ECLIPSE OF THE UNDEAD.
"Nancy was one of our first creations together, and foolishly, we still love her," explains Ryp, a resident of Andalusia, Spain.
"There weren't any deep questions or psychological undertones to this book when we first started," says Torres, who also lives in Andalusia. "We just wanted to create a fun little romp with a blond bombshell armed with a chainsaw, carving her way through demons and the undead. Though after starting with some story details involving Christian cosmogony -- after all, she IS wandering through a sort of Christian Hell -- the deep questions invariably came up."
"But we never lost sight of the monsters or chainsaws," laughs Ryp.
NANCY IN HELL: Good girls go to heaven, right? But it seems like there are no good girls anymore. After her death, Nancy awakens in a creepy landscape to find decomposing lost souls, demons lurking in the shadows, outcasts, chainsaws, booze, and certain doom. Can Nancy escape from Hell? Amazing artist JUAN JOSE and writer EL TORRES take you on a white-knuckle tour of the underworld to find out!
NANCY IN HELL #1 (of 4), a 32-page full-color comic book for $2.99, will be in stores August 4, 2010.

AMERICA'S FAVORITE PASTIME BECOMES A NIGHTMARE
Mark Andrew Smith and James Stokoe hit one out of the park with SULLIVAN'S SLUGGERS
Berkeley CA - 12 May 2010 - Image Comics announces the release of SULLIVAN'S SLUGGERS, a powerful collaboration between writer Mark Andrew Smith and artist James Stokoe (ORC STAIN). Smith, winner of a Harvey Award for co-editing POPGUN 1, is also the writer behind the offbeat favorites AMAZING JOY BUZZARDS, AQUA LEUNG and NEW BRIGHTON ARCHEOLOGICAL SOCIETY.
"Sullivan's Sluggers is a great blending of sports comics and horror," says Smith. "It was great to do a story about a baseball team while also at the same time working in the horror genre. I think this book will simultaneously resonate with sports and baseball fans as well as horror fans, making it a perfect storm."
"The horror genre has played a hugely influential role in comics, so it's been really cool to dip my toes in that pool," adds Stokoe. "Mark's cranked out a really fun script that puts a lot of emphasis on stuff that can only be done in comics and has stuffed panels with crazy amounts of gore and action. Our unsung hero, Rodrigo Aviles, is laying down some really vivid and imaginative colors as well. Lots of red splatter and juicy monster gizzards!"
"From THE AMAZING JOY BUZZARDS to POPGUN, Mark Smith has long been one of Image's most imaginative and prolific writers," observes Image Publisher Eric Stephenson. "He has a great eye for artistic talent and a head full of ideas that in many ways are ahead of their time. Aided and abetted by the incredible James Stokoe, SULLIVAN'S SLUGGERS is easily one of his best projects yet. If you haven't been exposed to the madcap wonder of Mark's work, this is the place to start!"
SULLIVAN'S SLUGGERS: When Sullivan's bedraggled minor league sluggers accept an invitation to play an out-of-town game, they have no idea their small-town destination is cursed. When the sun goes down after the 7th inning stretch, the dysfunctional teammates find themselves fighting for their lives against a town crawling with flesh eating monsters.
SULLIVAN'S SLUGGERS, an all-new 176-page full-color trade written by Mark Andrew Smith and illustrated by James Stokoe and published by Image Comics, will be available in stores on August 11, 2010, for $16.99.
Image Comics is a comic book and graphic novel publisher founded in 1992 by a collective of best-selling artists. Complete description of Marilyn Monroe dress:
Marilyn Monroe iconic pink satin gown from the "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" sequence in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. (TCF, 1953) This pink satin gown was worn by Marilyn Monroe as the gold-digging "Lorelei Lee" in one of cinema's most memorable song and dance sequences as she performed "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend". This Travilla-designed pink silk taffeta strapless gown features black satin lining with oversized bow attached at back. Features integral brassier with rear zipper closure (concealed with bow overlay) and interior Fox cleaning tag. Also comes with the original pair of screen-worn opera-length tubes worn over Marilyn's arms (gloves are shown for display only) and pink taffeta belt with "M. Monroe A-698 1-27-3-7953" written on the inner leather lining. Originally designed to be a two-piece garment, this lot features an additional bonus having the original top made for this dress (featuring interior bias label handwritten "1-27-3-7971 M. Monroe A 698-74") that was not used in the production. This design was discarded due to the top and skirt separating when Marilyn raised her arms during the number. The gown exhibits slight toning in areas, common in silk garments from this era; otherwise in fine condition. The leather backing on the belt is cracked and missing in areas and silk exhibits fraying on edges. Marilyn's public appearance dress worn at President John F. Kennedy's birthday tribute sold at auction in 1999 for an astounding $1,267,500.00. This remains as the single most important screen-worn gown in film history to ever reach the auction block. Indeed, Marilyn Monroe's "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" performance has reached such an iconic status that several notorious entertainers have copied it-right down to the pink strapless gown!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ASYLUM PRESS RELEASES RETRO-HORROR ANTHOLOGY EEEK! JUST IN TIME FOR HALLOWEEN
Asylum Press releases the first preview to a new horror anthology entitled EEEK! From Australian creator Jason Paulos.
(Los Angeles) Asylum Press announces the release of an all-new horror anthology entitled EEEK! by creator Jason Paulos. Shipping in Sept. 2010 it’s just in time to shake your bones for the Halloween season.
EEEK! is a homage from artist/writer Jason Paulos to the classic horror comics of his youth. Taking a pinch of black humour from EC comics and mixing it with the art stylings of House of Mystery and Warren comics, Paulos blends a heady broth that hits you like a burning incense stick to the retina.
'EEEK!' is my love letter to cheesy 'retro' horror comics” say creator Jason Paulos,”... in particular Charlton, House of Mystery, Warren, and to a lesser extent 80's stuff like Death Rattle and Twisted Tales. If you made a movie of 'EEEK!' it would be described as the bastard child of Evil Dead and Austin Powers. One of the story titles is 'Death Wears Hotpants', so you can draw your own conclusions from that.”
“We’re very excited to have EEEK! Join the ranks of the horror titles we have brewing at Asylum Press,” explains publisher Frank Forte, “ Jason Paulos has a knack for bringing bringing back those morbid feelings I got when I read the old Eerie and Creepys, but he does it with a new twist.”
EEEK! VOL. 1 will be a soft cover TPB annual anthology. Standard comic book dimensions. 152 pgs, B&W with COLOR section , perfect bound. Retail Price: $14.95. Ship Date: Sept 2010. Intended Audience: General Readers. ISBN13: 978-1-61724-010-2
Writers:Jason Paulos, Bodine Amerikah, Daren White
Artist: Jason Paulos
Cover Artist: Aly Fell
Back Cover Artists: Jason Paulos and Daniel Cox
This retro-style comic book anthology of all-new horror tales is guaranteed to give you the eeries and the creepies! Taking a pinch of black humour from EC comics and mixing it with the art stylings of House of Mystery and Warren comics, EEEK! blends a heady broth that hits you like a burning incense stick to the retina. Jason Paulos delivers the goods with over 15 tales of revenge, zombies, vampires, ghouls and monsters. Each tale drawn in a different style reminiscent of the B&W horror mags of the 70's and 80's. In 'Deadline of Death' we witness rival comic artists dabbling with malevolent forces that arrive in the form of a chain smoking goatee wearing Satan. In Lights! Camera! Murder!, A lovesick starlet and a ruthless film director embark on a doomed love affair that ends in pieces! In "Easy Prey" A helpless girl, lost in the wilderness ... but is she all that she seems? In "Head Trip" a hippie's love for music goes horribly wrong. Other titles include "Confessions of a Thrill Killer", "Like Son, Like Father" , "In Too Deep" and many more. Includes full color section, cover gallery and sketchbook section.

QUOTES
'I loved this comic and immediately had to have the rest, sort of like a horror geek Pokémon "got to collect them all" thing. There's just something about this style of horror comic book that really works for me, guess it's the innate feeling that characters will reap what they sow. Jason Paulos really has captured an era of comic book releases and Eeek! deserves to find a much larger market.'
---Jeff Ritchie

'The stories in this collection draw their inspiration from the 'so bad it's good' school of horror. The opening story, "Deadline of Death", features two young comic artists – one of whom makes a pact with the Devil while the other gets ironic revenge. The story comes fully equipped with 70's hair-dos and knowing winks to comic book history. There's even a witty narrator who finishes off the piece with a misquoted clichĂ©: "Looks like a case of 'art imitates death,' huh, readers?"'
---Matthew Clark

“A fun collection of illustrated terror tales featuring great art and a wicked sense of humor, pulling it's inspiration from all over the Silver Age horror comic history map, occasionally even drawing from 50's pre-code terror and the late 60's and early 70's Eerie Publication black and white gore mags... but probably most reminiscent of 80's indie comic titles like Gore Shriek and Twisted Tales. Recommended!"

---Karswell, The Horrors of it All

TRANSFORMERS and G. I. JOE Comics
to the iPad™
“Storefront” applications debut as top downloads on iPad™
Free apps include three free comics each
San Diego, CA (May 17, 2010) – IDW Publishing and Hasbro are proud to announce that TRANSFORMERS Comics and G.I. JOE Comics applications are available now on the Apple iPad. Taking full advantage of the iPad’s full-screen, full-color capabilities, the apps will offer the next level of reading experience to fans. The free IDW iPad storefront apps each include three free comics with the initial download, and offer more comics as in-app purchases. Fans can browse nearly 200 comics for their favorite story lines, such as movie tie-ins, ongoing series or even classics from the 80s.
“The iPad is a wonderful format for comics, as the screen size is close enough to the print size that readers can view the full page. OPTIMUS PRIME and the BARONESS look amazing in this format!” said IDW Director of ePublishing, Jeff Webber. “Our iPad apps are also compatible with our iPhone® and iPod touch® apps. So you can purchase TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE on one device, and read it on another. The apps will automatically identify which one you are using, and adjust to offer the best reading experience.”
Each storefront app offers readers the highest quality viewing experience, with a full-page display that showcases the eye-catching art and vivid stories. IDW has developed several new features to enhance the comics and take full advantage of the iPad’s capabilities, including pinch-zoom abilities and single- or two-page viewing options.
“Both G.I. JOE and TRANSFORMERS stories have such a broad appeal and have been gaining steam with the core readership, that pushing them to the front of the iPad store just made sense,” says Andy Schmidt, IDW Senior Editor on both franchises. “These are not just great apps and a great reading experience, these are great stories with beautiful artwork.”
“The great comic book legacy of TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE continues in a new and exciting way with these new cutting edge applications for the iPad and other digital platforms,” said Bryony Bouyer, Senior Vice President of Entertainment and Licensing at Hasbro. “We’re thrilled to be able to deliver classic characters such as OPTIMUS PRIME and SNAKE EYES to comic fans around the world via IDW in a variety of formats.”
IDW was the first comics publisher to launch its own "in app purchase" storefronts for the iPhone and iPod touch with a variety of applications. TODD MCFARLANE TO APPEAR AT BOOK EXPO AMERICA
Spawn Creator to Appear with Image Comics during BEA
Berkeley, CA - 14 May 2010 - Image Comics is proud to announce that SPAWN creator and Image Partner TODD MCFARLANE will appear at Book Expo America (BEA) on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at the Javits Center in New York City.
Image Comics will be exhibiting with Diamond Book Distributors, booth #4558. McFarlane will be at the booth for an exclusive signing from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Complimentary copies of the first HAUNT trade will be available during the signing. Image will also distribute copies of various Image Firsts titles throughout BEA.
"As the comic book culture continues to outgrow its historic roots of the comic book store, a big movement has been made towards book stores," says McFarlane. "Book stores have now become fertile ground for people like myself, and I need to make sure I get out there, put my best foot forward, in terms of making presentations to the stores and letting retailers know what's coming out. Now, there're arguably just as many consumers coming to bookstores for comic product as comic book stores. They're an extremely important part of our business."
From budding baseball player to comic book artist extraordinaire to family man, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane has a wealth of experience in the world of entertainment. McFarlane's road trip to creative autonomy began when he accepted an assignment penciling for Marvel/Epic Comics in March 1984. From there, he worked his way to the top of the talent roster before leaving Marvel to help found Image Comics with six other artists. It was then that Todd introduced his own character, Spawn. In 1994, Todd founded McFarlane Toys. Over the years, the company has become one of the largest, most renowned toy manufacturers in the world.
Don't miss Todd McFarlane during his one-day-only appearance at BEA on Wednesday, May 26, 2010.

BUTTERFINGER AND G4 ANNOUNCE NATIONWIDE SEARCH
TO FIND FOURTH MEMBER FOR BUTTERFINGER® DEFENSE LEAGUE
Two Finalists to Win VIP Trip to Comic-Con, Winner Gets $20,000 and Joins Pop Culture Icons Erik Estrada, Lou Ferrigno and Charisma Carpenter as Official Butterfinger Defenders
GLENDALE, Calif. (May 13, 2010) – How far would you go to defend your BUTTERFINGER®? Today, Butterfinger and G4, the television network that covers the worlds of gaming, technology, animation, interactivity, and "geek culture,” announce a promotion to find the fourth member for the Butterfinger Defense League (BFDL). Two semi-finalists who best demonstrate an ability to ensure “Nobody’s Gonna Lay A Finger On My Butterfinger!” will win a VIP trip to Comic-Con International on July 21-25. The lucky semi-finalists will meet the current members of the Butterfinger Defense League, Erik Estrada, Lou Ferrigno and Charisma Carpenter, and G4’s “Attack of the Show!” hosts Olivia Munn and Kevin Pereira, during G4’s live coverage of the event.
From May 13 to June 24, viewers are encouraged to submit an audition video for the Butterfinger Defense League Challenge video contest at G4tv.com/ButterfingerDefenseLeague, spotlighting a unique ability that would make them a great defender and a perfect fit for the BFDL. Submissions will be evaluated based on creativity, technical merit, and best use of a Butterfinger to determine who would best complement the existing members. The two finalists will head to Comic-Con, where “Attack of the Show!”’s Olivia and Kevin along with the BFDL members will crown one finalist an honorary member of the Butterfinger Defense League and award them a $20,000 grand prize.
“After unveiling the Butterfinger Defense League, we’re now giving consumers an opportunity to really get to know our defenders through an exclusive G4 promotion,” said NestlĂ© Confections & Snacks spokesperson Tricia Bowles. “Two lucky Butterfinger fans, not only will unite with Erik, Lou and Charisma, but they’ll also appear with them at the world’s largest pop culture convention, Comic-Con International.”
Estrada, Ferrigno and Carpenter, known in the TV world as famous defenders, have joined forces to help consumers defend their bars from would-be thieves and to encourage the “Nobody’s Gonna Lay A Finger On My Butterfinger!” tagline-turned-mantra. The celebrities formed the Butterfinger Defense League after connecting through the Butterfinger Bar Insurance program, where consumers reported more than 20,000 stories of Butterfinger thefts and filed 100,000 claims online for replacement candy bars.
“G4 is excited to team up with Butterfinger for this special promotion that gives our viewers the chance to win a VIP trip to Comic-Con and the grand prize of $20,000,” said Neal Tiles, president of G4. “’Attack of the Show!’ hosts Kevin Pereira and Olivia Munn possess an irreverent brand of comedy that resonates with young guys. This promotion gives Butterfinger the opportunity to connect with this often hard to engage audience in a way that’s fun, clever and organic to the show.”
The Butterfinger Defense League Challenge video contest ends 11:59 p.m. PDT, 6/24/10, open to legal residents of the 50 US & DC, 18 or older, subject to full rules and entry requirements at G4tv.com/ButterfingerDefenseLeague.
