Paul Pope's THB: Comics from Mars #2 Debuts at Baltimore Comic-Con!

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND - August 26, 2010 - AdHouse Books is proud to announce the Baltimore Comic-Con Exclusive Debut of THB: Comics from Mars #2 by Paul Pope.

This comic continues to add to the epic tale that is THB. It contains 6.5 stories (or thereabouts) that take you further into the world of HR Watson and all the androids, Martians, and cartoon characters that populate the red planet -- still larger than life and just as sweet.

"This comic is the 'sister' to the 2007 San Diego Comic-Con THB: Comics from Mars #1, and we could not be happier than to be releasing it at the Baltimore show," said Chris Pitzer, Adhouse Books Publisher. "It was all very last minute, but you wouldn't know that from the quality of the stories."

Paul Pope, creator of THB, been called the "Comics Destroyer", the "Jim Morrison of comics", and "Comics' Petit Prince". His work has won multiple Eisner Awards and has been part of a major collection of DKNY.

Paul's return to the Baltimore Comic-Con this year features a panel discussion on Sunday from 3-4 titled: PAUL POPE VS. BOB SCHRECK - A CAGED EVENT. Don't miss this satisfaction-guaranteed, fists-a-flying blood match by joining award-winning multi-talented storyteller, Paul Pope, in an examination of his creative process and how he suffers under the heel of his terrifying editor.

ADAM GREEN'S "HATCHET II" SLASHES ITS WAY INTO THEATRES KICKING OFF THE 2010 HALLOWEEN HORROR MOVIE SEASON

AMC Theatres ® To Release The Film Nationwide Oct 1 -- The Widest Release of An Unrated Genre Film In More Than 25 Years

"HATCHET II" Cast Features Cavalcade Of Horror Movie Icons Including Danielle Harris (HALLOWEEN), Tony Todd (CANDYMAN), R.A. Mihailoff (TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE) and Kane Hodder (FRIDAY THE 13th) reprising his role as serial killer Victor Crowley

Orland Park (IL) (August 24, 2010) - Dark Sky Films, a division ofMPI Media Group, announced today that in anticipation of the upcoming Halloween horror movie season, Adam Green's HATCHET II will be distributed in theaters across the country beginning Oct 1. The film will be released without an MPAA rating, marking the widest release of an unrated genre film in more than 25 years.

AMC Theatres, under its AMC independent program, will be exhibiting HATCHET II in the top 20 markets across the country. Vitagraph Films is serving as theatrical distributor.

The announcement regarding the HATCHET II release was made jointly by Adam Green with MPI Media Group's Senior Vice President of Acquisitions Greg Newman.

A ferociously fun tribute to the old-school horror sensation slasher movies of the 80's, HATCHET II is the follow-up to the popular original film, which was released theatrically in 2007 and became a sleeper-hit, gaining a wide following on DVD. The cast of HATCHET II features a cavalcade of horror movie icons including Danielle Harris (HALLOWEEN) and Kane Hodder (FRIDAY THE 13th), reprising his role as serial killer Victor Crowley. Also starring are Tony Todd (CANDYMAN) and R.A. Mihailoff (TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE).

HATCHET II is having its world premiere this week in London at Fright Fest, the UK's premiere horror and fantasy film festival.

Director Adam Green said, "Having a movie as graphically over the top as HATCHET II come out in major theatres unrated is an absolute dream come true -- not only for the genre fans but for the entire make-up effects crew who normally have to watch their amazing achievements get sliced and diced for theatrical release. This is an important event for the horror genre and I hope the real horror fans support HATCHET II and help change the way genre films are released theatrically from this day forward. Kudos to Dark Sky Films and AMC theaters for truly honoring the spirit of old school American horror and doing this right. Gorehounds won't know what hit them!"

Dark Sky Films' Newman added, "We are thrilled that audiences will not have to wait for a director's cut or unrated version of Adam Green's HATCHET II. On October 1st fans will have the opportunity to see Hatchet II in theaters exactly as it was intended to be seen: full-on, uncut and uncensored! We hope that this unrated release of HATCHET II marks a new trend in providing an uncompromised theatrical experience for genre film lovers nationwide."

"Our AMC independent program embraces diverse storytelling of all types," said AMC Theatres' Vice President, Specialty & Alternative Content, Nikkole Dneson-Randolph. "Bringing a story like HATCHET II to our guests is a natural fit during this time of year and we're excited to share the filmmakers' vision on-screen in its intended state."

HATCHET II TRAILER 1

ABOUT HATCHET II

Just as the 80's had their signature murderous maniacs-HALLOWEEN's Michael Myers of Haddonfield and FRIDAY THE 13th's Jason Voorhees of Camp Crystal Lake- the original HATCHET marked the arrival of the latest and most lethal of the genre's stalking murderers: Victor Crowley, a crazed backwoods killer stalking the bayous of New Orleans.

HATCHET II picks up right where the 2007 original film ends, as Marybeth (Danielle Harris fromHALLOWEEN) escapes from the clutches of the deformed, swamp-dwelling killer Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder from FRIDAY THE 13th). Marybeth returns to the Louisiana swamps along with an army of hunters to recover the bodies of her family and exact her revenge against Victor Crowley.

Second Annual Baltimore Comic-Con Auction
On Sunday afternoon at 3:00, please join us in panel room 301-303 to see our annual art auction. The Auction will feature work by this year's guests of the Baltimore Comic-Con. The material will be on display throughout the weekend in the convention hall.

THIS JUST IN : Our auction will be hosted by the cool guys from the Comic Book Diner podcast, artists Rich Faber, John Gallagher, and Jamar Nicholas, along with their pal and Perhapanauts co-creator Todd Dezago. They promise to make it a fun, lively event. Come on out and join the fun.

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND - August 24, 2010 - With its recent release to customers and dealerships across the country, Ford will feature its all-new Fiesta at Baltimore Comic-Con in the Baltimore Convention Center on August 28th and August 29th. Conference goers will have the opportunity to test drive the vehicle throughout the conference, as well as take part in Ford-related activites at the event.

Ford will have three 2011 Fiestas available for test drive outside in addition to a Fiesta product display adjacent to the Fiesta Movement Mission Control Vehicle inside the Convention Center. Convention goers will also have the opportunity to enter a raffle for the chance to win one of two copies of the final issue of Ex Machina signed by creator Brian K. Vaughn.

In addition, Ford will be presenting a check for $5,000 on Saturday to the Hero Initiative, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping comic book creators in need. Founded in late 2000 by a group of comic book and trade publishers, the Hero Initiative provides help to former comic book creators who are in need of basic quality of life support - including healthcare, rent, or employment.

The check to the Hero Initiative will be presented on behalf of Ford Motor Company, as well as Brian K. Vaughan, principal writer on the series Lost, as well as writer for most major DC and Marvel comic book characters.

"This is the second group we've worked with since the start of Comic-Con season, so we're thrilled to again be helping such a worthy organization," said Patrick Dorrington of Ford. "Obviously we're excited that people will be seeing the Fiesta, but the Hero Initiative is doing incredible work on behalf of comic book writers, which is what makes this such a great collaboration."

In the years since its inception, the board has created an award to recognize those individuals in the industry that have dedicated their talent over the lifetime of their careers to the comic book community at-large, achieving the status of Hero. Previous recipients include John Romita, Joe Kubert, Nick Cardy, Neal Adams, and George Perez. Who will be this year's lifetime Hero?

The Dick Giordano Humanitarian of the Year Award will make its debut at the Harvey Awards Banquet at the 2010 Baltimore Comic-Con on August 28. Giordano, who passed away in early 2010, was part of Hero Initiative's Board of Directors. He was also a legendary artist, a guiding force at Charlton Comics and DC Comics for many years, a mentor to his colleagues, and a friend to all who knew him. His legacy epitomizes the caring and commitment Hero Initiative strives to achieve. In his honor, The Dick Giordano Humanitarian of the Year Award will recognize one person in comics each year who has demonstrated the generosity and integrity Dick brought to the charity, and to the comic book community at large.

(San Diego, CA-August 23, 2010 - Ape Entertainment is pleased to announce that the new all-ages comic Scratch9 #1 sold out at this past weekend’s Wizard World Chicago Comic Con just days ahead of its arrival in comic shops everywhere. The book is created and written by Rob M. Worley with artwork by Harvey-nominee Jason T. Kruse and a cover by Eisner Award winner Mike Kunkel. It’s the latest all-ages title from Ape’s kid-friendly KiZoic line that features a runaway house cat with the ability to draw on any of his nine lives to help him out in his adventures.

“It was great to see how excited convention-goers were to discover our comic at the Ape Entertainment booth,” said Worley. “From cat lovers, to cartoon lovers, to people just looking for something fresh, so many people responded to what we’re doing with Scratch9.”

“It wasn’t just fans that sparked to it,” Ape C o-Publisher Brent E. Erwin said. “Amazingly we even had another exhibitor pick up the book on Thursday night, and was recommending it to young fans who stopped by his booth for the remainder of the weekend.”

In spite of arriving at Chicago Comic Con with more than double the number of copies as was expected to fill demand, the Ape booth sold its last copy of Scratch9 #1 just after 2pm during the Saturday leg of the show.

Scratch9 #1 is slated to arrive in comic shops across the country by September 1st. The book is still available for ordering from Diamond Comics distribution using ordering code #JUN10 0739. August 22, 2010 - Los Angeles, CA - Stan Lee talks directly to Comic Book Retailers about his three new ongoing superhero comic book series launching this fall from BOOM! Studios and POW! Entertainment.

Transcript:

"Face front, true believers! It's been a long time since I spoke directly to my friends in the comic book retail world, but I got to tell you, I have some very exciting news and I just felt I had to share it with you personally.

I've been thankful for over your years because you are the most important link between creators and our loyal readers.

So, that's why I 'm reaching out to you directly to ask you to try three great new ongoing books that we're launching this fall.

You may have already heard, I've been working on some new super heroes with my pals over at BOOM! Studios. (I love that name.)

Now fan favorite Paul Cornell is writing SOLDIER ZERO, which ships in October. SOLDIER ZERO is a living alien weapon and he's fused with an astronomer from Earth, and he quickly learns how to survive by being hunted by both worlds.

My pal Mark Waid is writing THE TRAVELER, now that launches in November. And THE TRAVELER has incredible powers over time, and you'll be amazed as he learns the secret of his own past and his future!

Third, we have a talented newcomer Chris Roberson. He's writing STARBORN, and STARBORN begins in December. He discovers he is a prince from an alien empire and the fate of our entire Galaxy hangs on his incredible destiny.

There's action, there's mystery, romance, and heroism! The stories and art, take it from me, they're terrific, and this is an opportunity for you to introduce a whole new generation to the magic of superheroes.

But you got to join me—I can't do it without you!

Excelsior!"

-Stan Lee

GOING BACK FOR SECONDS
CHEW #13 sold out at distributor, follows the trend for other issues in incendiary "Just Desserts" story arc

Berkeley, CA - 23 August 2010 - You can't stop the Eisner Award winning series CHEW, written by John Layman and illustrated by Rob Guillory. The first two trades were instant bestsellers, and the individual issues of CHEW are just as hot! CHEW #13 has sold out at the distribution level, just like previous issues in the "Just Deserts" story arc, and Image Comics is taking the issue back to press with a special variant cover!

"I had a feeling #13 was going to go quick," Layman says. "Even when we were putting this together, the cover just jumped out at you, even more so than Rob's other excellent covers. Normally, I'm against slapping variant covers on reprints as exploitative and gratuitous, but we had an idea for a second homage cover that would really compliment the first, plus I think readers would think it was really cool. At least *I* think the idea was really cool, so we decided to do it."

CHEW #13 is part three of the "Just Desserts" story arc -- Unlucky Number Thirteen, in which we see the return of rogue cibopath Mason Savoy, a double agent is revealed, and a narrative dirty trick is played upon an unsuspecting readership!

CHEW #13 Second Printing (JUL108129), a 32 full-color comic book, will be in stores September 15, 2010. Don't miss CHEW #14 (JUN100454), available September 29, and CHEW #15 (JUL100395), a special issue introducing all-new characters and featuring a tri-fold poster cover, available November 10. Now available: CHEW VOL. 1 TP (SEP090288), collecting issues 1-5; CHEW VOL. 2: INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR TP (FEB100354), collecting issues 6-10; and CHEW: OMNIVORE EDITION HC (MAY100435), collecting issues 1-10 in an oversized hardcover.

BOONDOCK SAINTS #2 SELLS OUT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Birmingham, AL (AUGUST 23, 2010)

BOONDOCK SAINTS: IN NOMINE PATRIS #2 SELLS OUT!

BOONDOCK SAINTS: THE HEAD OF THE SNAKE Issue #1 of 2, shipping October ’10 from 12-Gauge Comics

12-Gauge Comics proudly announces the sellout of Troy Duffy’s BOONDOCK SAINTS: THE SECRET HISTORY OF IL DUCE #2. Fans of the film series continue to seek out the new title, which has resulted in a steady flow of reorders from comic retailers across North America. 12-Gauge publisher Keven Gardner said, “Clearly, the Boondock fans can’t get enough of the McManus family and their adventures. We anticipated this kind of demand and did a very healthy over-print with each issue, but it still wasn’t enough. The legend of the Boondock Saints continues to grow!” Eben Matthews, The Boondock Saints comic series producer, added, “The Boondock fans are the best. Being a life-long fan of comics, and a long time fan of the Saints, I knew that Troy Duffy’s creation would translate perfectly into comic books. I can’t say enough about this creative team and the job they have done.”

On the heels of this successful launch, 12-Gauge urges retailers to double check their orders on Volume II of the “IN NOMINE PATRIS” saga, which hits the shelves this October. BOONDOCK SAINTS: THE HEAD OF THE SNAKE #1 follows Noah (IL DUCE) and Louie, as their mission begins to make serious, bloody waves in New York's 1960s Underground Crime world. Issue #1 also shows what Connor and Murphy were up to between the original film and the sequel, as Troy Duffy reveals new pieces of the brother’s past in Ireland during "the missing years", as a shared tale of tragedy brings back memories that are better off...left buried.
BOONDOCK SAINTS: THE HEAD OF THE SNAKE #1, a 32-page full-color comic book written by Troy Duffy and JB Love, with art by Guus Floor, will be available in October with a retail price of $3.99 (Diamond Order Code AUG101165).
