Items From The Original Star Wars Trilogy
Will Be Up For Auction At Profiles in History's
"Drama, Action, Romance: The Hollywood Auction"
December 15th and 16th

LOS ANGELES- DEC 7, 2012- Profiles in History, run by Joe Maddalena, is proud to announce that items from the original three Star Wars films will be up for auction at their December 15th and 16th, "Drama, Action, Romance: The Hollywood Auction." Selected items from the upcoming auction are detailed below.

An original screen-used X-Wing Fighter filming miniature from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. This amazing filming X-Wing Fighter miniature measures approx. 22 in. long x 18 in. wide. Exceedingly rare, this is the only painted and finished X-Wing Fighter that Profiles in History has encountered from the original 1977 Star Wars film. It is pictured above and expected to fetch $80,000 - $120,000.

An Imperial Royal Guard production-made helmet from Star Wars: Episode VI- Return of the Jedi. When the dark Emperor Palpatine arrives to confer with Darth Vader on timely topics such as Death Star II completion, and patience concerning the Luke Skywalker “problem,” he spares no expense in ceremony with his cordon of crimson-clad Imperial Royal Guards, mysteriously obscured inside highly stylized and streamlined helmets such as this beautiful production-made example, obtained directly from the production team at ILM. It is pictured below and expected to fetch $40,000 - $60,000.

Luke Skywalker's stunt lightsaber from Star Wars: Episode VI- Return of the Jedi. This is Luke Skywalker's weapon of choice during the epic final battle for his soul and the fate of the galaxy against Darth Vader and the Emperor aboard the Empire’s planet-destroying Death Star. This lightsaber was obtained from the estate of “Star Wars” model-maker Wesley Seeds, who worked on Return of the Jedi. It is expected to fetch $30,000 - $50,000.

A production made, Rebel Alliance pilot helmet from Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back. This production helmet was restored to hero finish and decoration and remains a handsome tribute to a rare artifact from the original trilogy. It is expected to fetch $20,000 - $30,000.

A screen used Scout Trooper Blaster with production made holster from Star Wars: Episode VI- Return of the Jedi. First appearing in Return of the Jedi, Scout Troopers are seen on Endor, battling Luke and Leia on speeder bikes, and this is where we get our best look at this special small blaster and holster created just for Scout Troopers’ bulky gloved hands. This comes directly from an ILM effects production team and is expected to fetch $10,000 - $15,000.

A rejected Yoda head made for production by Industrial Light & Magic. This is a piece of Star Wars history. Consisting of a “Yoda” head or “skin” of the sort that was affixed over internal animatronic mechanisms, eyes and teeth for animating this beloved character. Created to rebuild the original Yoda for George Lucas, it was rejected due to minor bubbles in the face. It is expected to fetch $4,000 - $6,000.

NBM Publishing Announces Graphic Novel Trilogy
PERSIA BLUESIranian-American Writer Offers Dara Naraghi Offers Unique
Incentives To Supporters Via Kickstarter Campaign Through December 20th.

New York Times best-selling writer Dara Naraghi and artist Brent Bowman have co-created an epic graphic novel trilogy titled Persia Blues. The complex, multicultural story features the parallel lives of a young Iranian woman, and will explore the universal themes of tradition, family, guilt, and freedom.

The series follows Minoo Shirazi from her hometown of Shiraz, Iran to the United States, in pursuit of her graduate studies. The narrative also features an additional layer, with Minoo as a free-spirited adventurer in a fantasy world, where aspects of modern America and ancient Persia meld into a unique landscape. The mystery of these two intertwined settings will ultimately lead Minoo to an important discovery about her true self.

"As an Iranian-American writer, I've always been interested in exploring multicultural themes in my stories, and this series is my most ambitious and personal work to date,” Mr. Naraghi said. “Drawing the series has been a fun challenge, and I feel the research involved in depicting both modern and ancient Iran in accurate terms adds a layer of realism and depth to an already complex modern fantasy,” added Mr. Bowman.

In order to compensate Mr. Bowman for the tremendous amount of research, time, and energy he has put into drawing the book, Mr. Naraghi has turned to the crowd funding website Kickstarter.com. “Through Kickstarter, we can take our graphic novel straight to the public, and if they like what they see, they can help support it financially, in exchange for unique incentives,” said Mr. Naraghi. Backers of the project can earn such items as signed copies of the book, handwritten short stories, Persian cuisine family recipes, original pages of art from the book, and more.

The Kickstarter campaign to help fund Persia Blues, vol. 1 ends on December 20, 2012.  For more details or to support this project, CLICK HERE!

Two New-to-DVD DC Comics TV Productions
from Warner Archive Collection Offers

Wonder Woman 1974 TV pilot,
Superboy: The Complete 2nd Season,
Coming December 11 to DVD

The Warner Archive Collection continues its rollout of fanboy-centric
DC Comics properties with the December 11 DVD release of the original
1974 television pilot, WONDER WOMAN, starring Cathy Lee Crosby; and
the much-requested sophomore season of the Alexander & Ilya Salkind
produced SUPERBOY: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON.

Before Lynda Carter took the heroine back to World War 2 for her “New,
Original” incarnation in 1975, statuesque tennis pro-turned-performer
Cathy Lee Crosby swung the magic lasso in a very different TV
incarnation of WONDER WOMAN. As developed by scribe John D.F. Black
(Star Trek, Shaft), and seemingly influenced by her recent turn as a
mod, cat-suited crime-fighter in the pages of her DC Comics home, this
Amazon Princess was more superspy than superhero. Still, many of the
expected wondrous elements from bracelets and lassos to Paradise
Island and invisible jets all make an appearance, albeit with a sleek,
seventies espionage super-action refit. Three years before taking up
residence on Fantasy Island, Ricardo Montalban plays laconic lothario
Abner Smith, who lurks at the top of the conspiracy to make off with
ultra-secret code books – leading Agent Prince to discover an Amazon
sister-in-exile (Anitra Ford).

Following the popular release of its inaugural season on DVD,
SUPERBOY: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON features the 1989-1990 exploits
of a new actor – Gerard Christopher – in the lead role. Bringing with
him a fan’s enthusiasm and delight for all things Kryptonian, and
aided by a writing staff that included true DC Comics superstar
scribes (including Andy Helfer, Cary Bates, Denny O’Neil and Mike
Carlin), Christopher sent the show soaring up into ever-more
super-heroic heights. Familiar four-color threats faced by our boy
Kal-El include a now follicle challenged Lex Luthor (who makes Lana
his bride decades before they did it in Smallville), Metallo, Bizarro,
Mr. Mxyzptlk and Yellow Peri in this complete 26-Episode, 3-Disc
Collection. Also starring Stacy Haiduk and Ilan Mitchell-Smith.

SUPERBOY: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON includes a fascinating array of
guest stars, including 007 veterans George Lazenby (On Her Majesty’s
Secret Service) and Britt Ekland (The Man With the Golden Gun) as
Jor-El and Lara; Philip Michael Thomas (Miami Vice) as Brimstone;
Michael Callan (Cat Ballou) as Metallo; Michael J. Pollard (Bonnie &
Clyde) as Mr. Mxyzptik; as well as Key Luke (Kung Fu), George Chakaris
(West Side Story), Richard Kiel (The Spy Who Loved Me), Gilbert
Gottfried (Aladdin) and George Maharis (Route 66).

Both titles will be available on Tuesday, December 11 via
warnerarchive.com and other major online retailers. SUPERBOY has a
suggested retail price of $35.98; WONDER WOMAN has a suggested retail
price of $17.98.

Both DVDs are presented in their original 4x3 1:37 aspect ratio.

IS THE END OF TIMES ALSO THE END OF... THEM?

THE END TIMES OF BRAM AND BEN starts in January

Nobody ever figured Bram Carlson for the Rapture-worthy type. All in all, he's pretty much a total bastard. But when the Apocalypse comes, he disappears from the mortal plane along with the blessed—due to a heavenly clerical error. Heaven (somewhat) promptly sends him back.

Now, in THE END TIMES OF BRAM AND BEN, Bram's the only person on Earth who has glimpsed Heaven, and he intends to use his experience for the good of Bramkind. It's up to his morally conflicted roommate Ben to rein in Bram's ambition, but for a guy who has never striven for anything important in his life, Bram's going after his dream like—well, like it's the end of the world. But will it be the end of a friendship as well?

In his first creator-owned series, writer James Asmus (THIEF OF THIEVES, Gambit) teams up with Jim Festante (writer/comedian Comedy Central, MTV), and newcomer to the American comics scene, European artist Rem Broo, to tell a tale of the un-Raptured, shot through with humor and absurdity that make THE END TIMES the perfect new series for fans of CHEW to sink their teeth into.

"Despite the giant, colorful, violent elements of the Biblical apocalypse—this isn't a 'religious story,'" said Asmus, who was raised Catholic. "The real story Jim and I were excited to tell is one that shows a bunch of people reacting to one earth-shaking question: What do you do when you discover that reality isn't what you thought—and you're about to be punished for getting it wrong?"

Festante looks at THE END TIMES as a way of addressing the big questions as well. "Why does religion paint morality as black and white? Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people? If you're doing what Satan wants, why would he torture you for eternity?" he said. "Um, we're not sure, but End Times is a nice break from pondering deep theological thoughts."

To Broo, the END TIMES is the comic he always wanted to read—and gets to draw as well! "I think I was the first true fan of this comic," he said. NEIL GAIMAN FALLS IN LOVE WITH
DARK HORSE’S HUSBANDS!

A “smart and loving romp through genre,” says Gaiman in his introduction to the hard-copy collection of Husbands, a gay-marriage sitcom turned Dark Horse comic series.

DECEMBER 5, MILWAUKIE, OR—Amidst glowing reviews and a growing fan base, Dark Horse Comics is thrilled to announce that the digital comic series Husbands has found a fan in literary legend Neil Gaiman, who penned an introduction for the Husbands hardcover collection.

Written by Husbands creators Jane Espenson (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Once Upon a Time) and Brad Bell (VH1’s Pop Up Video), Dark Horse’s Husbands is a comic-book continuation of the sitcom phenom, which tells the story of accidental gay newlyweds Brady and Cheeks. In the comic, the couple receive a mystical wedding gift that launches them on an epic adventure—a tongue-in-cheek journey through iconic genre realms—filled with obstacles that threaten to tear them apart: a superhero showdown, a fairy-tale fantasy, a Holmesian mystery, an epic galactic battle, a madcap high-school romp, and a saucy secret-spy thrill ride.

“As a huge fan of Neil Gaiman, I am thrilled to discover he is a fan of Husbands. Brad Bell and I wrote the show that we wanted to watch. Now, to find that people we idolize are also watching? That is beyond gratifying,” exclaims Jane Espenson.

Brad Bell further explains that “switching mediums can be tricky. We didn’t want to just extend the sitcom. We wanted to reinvent what was possible for this story and make a kick-ass comic. I think there could be no better indication that we’ve done so than receiving Neil’s wonderful praise! It’s also such an honor to have Husbands recognized by an icon like Neil Gaiman.”

ET Online/The Insider praises Husbands by calling it “one of the smartest, most unique and powerful pieces of entertainment this year.”

In addition to Gaiman’s introduction, the print collection will include exclusive first-draft scripts, conceptual character sketches, notes between the authors, and an all-new cover by artist Ron Chan.

Husbands, the complete collection, arrives on March 27, 2013, and is available for preorder now through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, TFAW.com, and of course at your local comic shop!

Evel Knievel Stunt-worn Crash Helmet From
His Famed Wembley Stadium Jump
And Signature Leather Jumpsuit
Will Be Up For Auction In
Profiles In History's December 15-16
"Drama, Action, Romance - The Hollywood Auction"

LOS ANGELES- DEC 5, 2012- Profiles in History, run by Joe Maddalena, is proud to announce that it is set to auction off Evel Knievel's stunt worn crash helmet and signature leather jumpsuit in its December 15-16 "Drama, Action, Romance: The Hollywood Auction."

This is the famous Bell Star full-face motorcycle helmet prominently seen when Evel Knievel attempted to jump 13 single-deck AEC Merlin buses at London’s Wembley Stadium on May 26, 1975. The highly promoted event took place in front of 90,000 people and was televised by ABC’s Wide World of Sports. Knievel barely cleared the 13th bus as the crowd gasped for breath. On the landing, Evel’s front wheel bounced, launching him over his handlebars and sending him tumbling violently for 50 yards. As the limp daredevil came to a halt, his Harley-Davidson brutally rammed into him. Knievel lied motionless on the ground with a broken hand, a re-injury to his pelvis and a compression fracture of a vertebra. A concerned hush rushed over the London crowd as a swarm of medics and security surrounded him. A stretcher was drawn, but the battered daredevil insisted on leaving the arena on foot and grabbed a microphone and dramatically announced to the crowd that they would be “the last people in the world who will ever see me jump. I will never, ever, ever, ever jump again. I am through.” The helmet is expected to fetch $60,000 - $80,000.

This is one of the last (if not the last) custom leather jumpsuits custom made and worn by world-famous motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel. Throughout his daredevil career, Knievel was known for his sensational leather jumpsuits that were compared to the jumpsuits worn by Elvis Presley. In interviews, Knievel said the reason for his flamboyant jumpsuits was the fact that he saw how Liberace had become not just a performer, but the epitome of what a showman should be, and he sought to create his own variation of that showmanship in his own jumps. The Smithsonian Institute’s Evel Knievel exhibit is viewed by millions, and features one of his leather suits and a motorcycle. The suit is expected to fetch $40,000 - $60,000.

The book will also be featuring original pin-up art by Miguel Angel Abad (Planet of the Apes) and Darren Douglas (Golden Compass) and chronicles the battle against the return of history’s most notoriously evil villains, the Nazis, who unbeknownst to us, escaped to the moon following their defeat in World War II.

“The graphic novel is a prequel to the hit sci-fi action film Iron Sky produced by Blind Spot Pictures, and focuses on how the Nazis ended up on the moon, and how Udo Kier’s character, Wolfgang Kortzfleisch, became Der Ãœberführer.” Said lead artist Kissell. “Part steampunk and part comedy, the graphic novel was written masterfully by Alan Wake scribe, Mikko Rautalahti. who has a wicked sense of humor.” Kissell continued.
