STRANGE ATTRACTORS RETURNS IN COMPLETE VOLUME
Pirate Peg’s Rangerette Handbook Collects Entire Series

One of the leading independent comics from the 1990’s, Strange Attractors, will finally be collected into one complete volume to be released into the comic market for the first time. The Strange Attractors saga from Michael Cohen and Mark Sherman will be released from Transfuzion Publishing in December, 2010 It will collect all 17 issues and run nearly 400 pages and retail for $24.95.

The story centers on Sophie, curator of the Museum of Lost Things, who gets caught up in a war between science and magic in this light-hearted retro post-modern science fiction where the comics she loves are actually coded history and she becomes a magnet for all sorts of cosmic weirdness.

“When Michael contacted me about collecting the entire series, of course I was interested,” said Transfuzion publisher, Gary Reed. Caliber Comics, the previous publishing house ran by Reed, had published the last two issues of Strange Attractors. “I’ve always felt it was a vastly under-appreciated book,” he said, “even when it was a hit back in the day. It should’ve been even bigger.”

The decision to re-title the saga from simply Strange Attractors to Pirate Peg’s Rangerette Handbook was the idea of Cohen and Sherman. With the Strange Attractors Superman story as well as the episode of the superhero TV series, Heroes, Strange Attractors suddenly became a common name and the identity of the original comic series was diluted.

Reed added that he thought the book would capture some of the audience that had followed the original series. “Michael and Mark have been releasing it over the years on the web so it still has a following. Diamond Comic Distributors gave their full support to it and even spotlighted it in their Previews.” Pirate Peg’s Rangerette Handbook can be found in the latest issue of Previews on page 308, Order Code: OCT101148 with an ISBN of 978-0-9826549-4-1.

For more information on the collection and the publisher, Transfuzion, visit the website at www.transfuzion.biz where there are also preview pages.

REVIEWS

“Strange Attractors for me is possibly the most novelistic graphic story I know of with the possible exception of Watchmen and certainly the most novelistic series….Strange Attractors is that true rarity, an adult, amusing, multi-layered graphic SF novel.”
---Hugo and Nebula Award Winning Author, Norman Spinrad

“What creators Cohen and Sherman have undertaken is massive and what is more impressive is that they deliver!”
---Overstreet’s Fan

“This is not rave of the month stuff---this is rave of the year. Wow, what a story!”
---Comic Buyer’s Guide

“In a barren desert of derivative movie and TV science fiction comics, Strange Attractors is an sparkling oasis of originality.”
---Steve Bissette, Tyrant and Swamp Thing

“Opening an issue of Strange Attractors and starting to read it is comparable to walking into an environment that creates in us a pleasure sensation at all levels.”
---Dave Sim, Cerebus, Glamourpuss

“A sweet and pungent postmodern nostalgic trip! Strange Attractors brings butterflies to my stomach.”
---Rick Veitch, Brat Pack and Maximortal

“A compelling universe populated with the coolest female cast this side of Love and Rockets. Cohen and Sherman are the Lennon and McCartney of postmodern Sci-Fi comic books.”
---Jimmy Gownley, Amelia Rules

THE RETURN OF WILLIAM CASTLE

FROM THE GRAVE: A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM THE “MASTER OF THE MACABRE” WILLIAM CASTLE

marquee_300px"Yes, I am fully aware that I died in 1977. But you didn't think a little thing like rigor-mortis would prevent me from attending the upcoming William Castle's Shockers retrospective in Los Angeles did you? Of course you didn't.

William Castle's Shockers, presented by the very undead folks from Cinefamily at Hollywood's iconic Silent Movie Theatre, has been running Saturday nights in October. But, of course, there's also a Halloween double feature on Sunday night, October 31st.

I'm looking forward to seeing my daughter Terry there that evening - we've been having a little trouble connecting these past few years. (She always loved my story about coming up with the idea for The Tingler while standing in line outside ... The Silent Movie Theatre!) Terry's got a few tricks of her own up her pretty sleeves. It's in the genes.

Maybe I'll see you there too.

You know, getting ready for Halloween was always one of my favorite things when I was alive. Still is. This year I decided to write a horror novel ... with a little help from 30 writer friends. I wrote Chapter One of Scare It Forward and posted it on October 1. Every day this frightful month one of my friends is posting a new, sequential chapter. The final chapter, 31, will be posted on Halloween night. I guarantee it will scare a corpse out of his own grave.

If you dare, you can read each day's installment of Scare It Forward at http://williamcastle.com/blog/scare-it-forward/

I made over forty B movies following a formula for box office success: low-budget chillers geared to the burgeoning boomers. The Tingler, House on Haunted Hill, Thirteen Ghosts, Macabre, Strait-Jacket (scripted by Psycho's Robert Bloch), and Homicidal – which TIME magazine liked better than Psycho.

But some called me a master of ballyhoo who shamelessly promoted his pictures with gimmicks like The Coward's Corner and Percepto seat buzzers.

Gimmicks!! What utter nonsense."

I SPY
Image Comics launches new Nathan Edmondson title WHO IS JAKE ELLIS? in January 2011

Berkeley, CA - 20 October 2010 - Writer Nathan Edmondson made people afraid to look into the light with THE LIGHT, a sell-out five-issue miniseries drawn by Brett Weldele (The Surrogates). Now, he brings new life to the spy genre with WHO IS JAKE ELLIS?, an all-new series from Image Comics.

The first issue of JAKE ELLIS will be in stores in January 2011. Tonci Zonjic (POPGUN, The Immortal Iron Fist, Daredevil) joins Edmondson on the book, producing action-packed art and covers for the series.

"Tonci and I are bringing the idea of psychological thriller to a whole new arena," says Edmondson. "One part mystery, one part friendship, one part James Bond and Jason Bourne lovechild, and one other part sci-fi spy. You'll be asking yourself the whole ride through -- just who is Jake Ellis?"

Jon Moore is the most sought after spy-for-hire in Europe's criminal world. This is because of Jake Ellis, a man who is invisible to everyone except Moore. When a deal goes bad, the only one who can protect Moore from Europe's most dangerous criminals is Jake Ellis. No one but Moore can see Jake Ellis. But Jake Ellis can see everything.

WHO IS JAKE ELLIS? #1 (NOV100403), a 32-page, full-color comic book from Image Comics, will be in stores January 5, 2011, for $2.99. THE LIGHT VOL. 1 TP (OCT100471), a 140-page full-color graphic novel for $16.99, will be in stores December 15, 2010.

WITH OR WITHOUT VLAD
Tim Seeley tells Vlad's origin story in HACK/SLASH: ME WITHOUT YOU one-shot from Image Comics

Berkeley, CA - 20 October 2010 - Cassie Hack has taken out some of the most dangerous slashers in the world. But could she have done it without the help of her enormous sidekick, Vlad? In January 2011, HACK/SLASH fans will finally find out how Cassie and Vlad became an inseparable pair!

The follow-up to the smash hit HACK/SLASH: MY FIRST MANIAC miniseries, HACK/SLASH: ME WITHOUT YOU reveals the origin of comicdom's favorite hulking sidekick. Before Vlad roamed the country, battling slashers with Cassie Hack, he haunted the alleyways of Chicago as the living urban legend, the Meat Man. But even a cleaver-wielding monster gets lonely, and Vlad's quest to find out who he really is will lead him on a bloody path!

"I was so pleased with how MY FIRST MANIAC turned out," says Hack/Slash writer and creator TIM SEELEY. "Because of that and the reaction from the readers, I decided to tell a story I've been wanting to tell for a long time: the secret origin of Vlad, Cassie's monstrous partner. As with MANIAC, it'll be an accessible story both to new and old readers, with lots of unexpected twists."

HACK/SLASH: ME WITHOUT YOU OS, a 32-page, full-color comic book written by Seeley and illustrated by Daniel Leister, with covers by Leister and Ross Campbell, will be in stores January 5, 2011, for $3.50.
