DARWYN COOKE’S THE HUNTER IS NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLER
Adaptation of Richard Stark’s first Parker novel premieres at #3

San Diego, CA (July 31, 2009) – In its first week of release, IDW is proud to announce that Darwyn Cooke’s The Hunter, an adaptation of Richard Stark’s novel, debuted on The New York Times best seller list at number three. The Hunter has earned high praise for Cooke’s compelling interpretation of Parker, and has been critically lauded nationwide by The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post and Entertainment Weekly.

Darwyn Cooke, the Eisner Award-winning writer and artist of such classics as DC: The New Frontier, Selina’s Big Score, and The Spirit, brings to life one of the true classics of crime fiction: Richard Stark’s Parker. Stark was a pseudonym used by the revered and multi-award-winning author, Donald Westlake.

The Hunter, the first book in the Parker series, is the story of a man who hits New York head-on like a shotgun blast to the chest. Betrayed by the woman he loved and double-crossed by his partner in crime, Parker makes his way cross-country with only the thought of revenge burning in his mind.

Here’s what the critics are saying:
“The cartoonist Darwyn Cooke is an extraordinary talent… a wonderfully engrossing graphic-novel…” — The New York Times

“Darwyn Cooke and Donald Westlake pull off the perfect crime.” “… a meticulously faithful adaptation…” – The Los Angeles Times

“Artist Darwyn Cooke’s brand-new rendering of the first Parker novel, 1962’s The Hunter, is joltingly good.” – Entertainment Weekly

“…a near-perfect match of artist and character.” – The Washington Post

“The Hunter” remains a brutal classic, and Cooke adapts it beautifully.” – The Boston Herald

Darwyn Cooke’s The Hunter is now available in stores.

DEL REY TO PUBLISH PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES:

THE GRAPHIC NOVEL, BASED ON THE BESTSELLING BOOK

Del Rey Books will publish PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES: THE GRAPHIC NOVEL, based on the New York Times bestselling book by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith. One of the biggest pop culture sensations of this year, the critically acclaimed Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, originally published by Quirk Books, takes Jane Austen’s classic novel and brings it to gory, new life with zombie mayhem.

Del Rey editor Tricia Narwani says, “Not only is it exciting for Del Rey to be a part of this year’s most remarkable publishing phenomenon, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES: THE GRAPHIC NOVEL is just flat-out one of the coolest books on our list ever.”

The graphic novel will be adapted by Tony Lee, a writer for over twenty years in television, radio and magazines. For the last six years Tony has worked extensively in comics, writing for such licenses as X-Men, Spider Man, Starship Troopers, Wallace & Gromit, Shrek and Doctor Who. His critically acclaimed graphic novel Outlaw: The Legend Of Robin Hood has been announced as a Junior Library Guild Selection for 2009.

Cliff Richards, a veteran artist best known for his five-year run on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer comics series, will illustrate the graphic novel. He has also worked on several projects for other comics publishers, including Birds of Prey, the Huntress: Year One mini-series, and Wonder Woman for DC Comics, and Rogue and New Thunderbolts for Marvel Comics.

PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES: THE GRAPHIC NOVEL will be published in January 2010.
PRESS RELEASE – MIKE ALLRED AND STEVEN T. SEAGLE CONFIRM THEY DID NOT ANNOUNCE NEW PROJECT AT COMIC CON!

The famed creators of MADMAN ATOMIC COMICS and IT’S A BIRD… confirm they did not announce their new project at San Diego Comic Con International!

29 July 2009 (Berkeley, CA) - MADMAN ATOMIC COMICS’ Mike Allred and SOUL KISS’ Steven T. Seagle confirmed they did not announce a new project at this year's Comic Con International during the Mike Allred spotlight panel, citing the sheer number of announcements made at the show this year as reason enough to withhold information.

"We would have been be lost in the shuffle," Allred said. “Especially since I was already announcing the new graphic novel I am co-editing, ONE MODEL NATION, by writer Courtney Taylor and illustrator Jim Rugg as well my all-new the Vertigo series, I, ZOMBIE. I thought it might be better to just wait until later, and Seagle just kept saying we shouldn't do it at all.”

While the duo had expressed concern that announcing a project at this time could be detrimental to all parties involved they did not deny that the book will be a co-production of Allred's AAA POP, Seagle's MAN OF ACTION STUDIOS and publisher Image Comics. Nonetheless, Allred and Seagle refused to confirm the five issue series was set for 2010.

Seagle and Allred have begun work on - but not completed - three previous series: LOOK for shuttered publisher Tundra, JAGUAR STORIES for shuttered publisher Comico, and BIG WORLD which was not approved years ago by Vertigo.

When asked what information he could provide about the project Seagle said he couldn't confirm the existence of a script, nor of almost a hundred pages of art already produced. When asked if the project would be announced at a later date Seagle reiterated his pre-con sentiment: “Some stories should not be told.”

FARCOR STUDIOS INKS OVERSEAS DISTRIBUTION PACT FOR NEW 3d ANIMATED SERIES DA JAMMIES WITH TF1 INTERNATIONAL

Fall Launch Planned at MIPCOM/MIPCOM Junior World Entertainment Content Market

in Cannes, France from October 3-9

SAN DIEGO — July 25, 2009 — Veteran television producer Ralph Farquhar and production partner Dwayne Corbitt of FarCor Studios today announced a pact with distributor TF1 International for overseas distribution of their latest project “Da Jammies,” a new 3D animated music series, to the animation industry and fans during a panel presentation at the 2009 Comic-Con convention. TF1 will launch the series at the next MIPCOM and MIPCOM Junior World Entertainment Content Market in Cannes, France held October 3 – 9, 2009.

The producer of such Disney hits as The Proud Family and Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior, Farquhar’s ground-breaking new animated sitcom was developed in partnership with Toon Farm, LLC and is set to redefine the genre with its fresh new approach to quality urban family programming.

Combining hip-hop dance, music and fashion in a way never before seen in animation, Da Jammies follows five diverse ‘tweens from the suburbs who attend a performing arts middle school. Novelist, Dolla, MoMo, Seven and LaLa study singing, dancing and music in hopes of one day achieving their dreams of superstardom – and learn big life lessons along the way. Da Jammies tackles the sometimes difficult life lessons of growing up today, yet never loses its fun, engaging approach.

“The whole concept of urban family entertainment that reflects the lifestyle and musical tastes of multicultural families has been largely ignored by the industry,” said executive producer Farquhar. "We're programming for an underserved audience, armed with beats and stories that the entire family can sit down and enjoy together.”

Annabel Bighetti, Senior Executive VP Sales and Acquisitions for TF1 International stated, “We’re thrilled to offer to the international market this new 3D animation series about multicultural kids attending a performing arts middle school, who sing, dance, rap and dream of becoming famous.”

Domestically, the studio is in negotiations with several networks to air the 13-episode series, which is currently in testing on the CW4Kids website until Monday, July 27. Viewers can log onto http://www.4kids.tv/da-jammies to watch a complete episode, give feedback and cast their votes to see Da Jammies on the CW 4 Kids programming lineup.

Da Jammies was developed by Ralph Farquhar and Dwayne Corbitt for FarCor Studios, co-created by Aulsondro “Novelist” Hamilton and William “Dolla” Chapman II and produced by Kathleen Zuelch for Toon Farm, LLC.
