AMC BRINGS FANS “THE WALKING DEAD MEGA SUNDAY” EVENT ON NOVEMBER 1ST AT 9:00 P.M. ET/PT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – AMC is bringing fans “The Walking Dead Mega Sunday” event on November 1st at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.  During the all-new extended 90-minute episode of “The Walking Dead,” AMC will air the world premiere of the trailer for AMC’s upcoming, highly anticipated series “Preacher,” as well as the television premiere of the “Into the Badlands” trailer.

In this all-new episode of “The Walking Dead,” “Here’s Not Here,” written by Scott M. Gimple and directed by Stephen Williams, the survivors must ask themselves who can be trusted, and better yet, can they change? Critics continue to praise the series, including Verne Gay of Newsday, who calls it “exceptional.”

Based on the twisted and popular ‘90s comic book franchise of the same name, “Preacher,” created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, is the story of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) embark on a journey to, literally, find God. The Sony Pictures Television and AMC Studios co-production was developed for television by Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg (“This Is the End,” “Superbad,” “Neighbors”) and showrunner Sam Catlin (“Breaking Bad”). The series is set to premiere mid-2016.

“Into the Badlands” tells the story of a ruthless, well-trained warrior named Sunny (Daniel Wu) and a young boy named M.K. (Aramis Knight) who embark on a spiritual journey across a dangerous land. WGN AMERICA TO PREMIERE ALL-NEW GRITTY DRAMA SERIES JANUARY 2016

“I mean, they burn money. That’s f***ed up! There were all these cool things about it. The ATVs! All this great, juicy stuff in it.” – Executive Producer, Paul Giamatti on what drew him to the script of the upcoming WGN America series “Outsiders.”

Following the world premiere screening last night at the New York Television Festival, the cast and creative team of WGN America’s upcoming series “Outsiders,” sat down with moderator Bruce Fretts, Senior Articles Editor, Closer Weekly, to discuss what drew them to the inventive series set in the rugged hills of Appalachia. The 13-episode, one-hour drama, slated to debut in January 2016 explores the epic battle between the Farrell Clan, a tight-knit family of renegades who have lived atop the rugged Shay Mountain for over two hundred years, and anyone who would dare to challenge them or threaten their land and way of life—including the town below.  According to Executive producer Paul Giamatti, what initially drew him in was the uniqueness of the script, “I mean, they burn money. That’s f***ed up! There were all these cool things about it. The ATVs! All this great, juicy stuff in it. So we took it to the WGN America guys, and they really sparked to it too.” Giamatti’s comment resulted in resounding agreement from the panel which included actors David Morse, Ryan Hurst, Gillian Alexy, Kyle Gallner, and Christina Jackson as well as executive producers Peter Tolan and Peter Mattei.

For his part, series creator and showrunner Mattei was impressed with WGN America’s willingness to push boundaries with the series, “Kudos to them for having the balls to really go for it with this show. There were several times writing the season where we would just reach a stalemate, or back-and-forth arguments, and I was just say ‘Well f*** it I’m going to write the weirdest thing I can think of’… and they would look at the weirdest thing I wrote and say, ‘We love it.’”


On Thursday, October 22, WGN America celebrated the world-premiere screening of their upcoming drama “Outsiders,” at the 11th annual New York Television Festival. The cast, creator, and executive producers attended the screening of the series premiere followed by a panel discussion.

Manga author/artist Masashi Kishimoto was born in 1974 in rural Okayama Prefecture, Japan. Writer Brian Schirmer and artist Claudia Balboni team up for a fantasy, western adventure in BLACK JACK KETCHUM—coming to Image Comics this December.
BLACK JACK KETCHUM pulls readers into a dreamlike version of the Old West, where one Tom Ketchum struggles to clear his name—and stay alive—when he's mistaken for wanton outlaw "Black Jack" Ketchum. With the aid of his talking sidearm, a secretive gambler, and a mute girl with a Winchester, Tom evades the mysterious Union and its supernatural enforcers, the faceless Dusters, as he's forced to question his identity, his sanity, and his very existence.
"To me, Tom Ketchum is more than a minor historical figure—he's family,” said Schirmer. “My great-grandmother's cousin. So, his name and the stories associated with him have been with me my whole life. That said, I knew we wouldn't be creating a strictly biographical piece, so I pulled in influences from Alejandro Jodorowsky, David Lynch, Andrei Tarkovsky, and Orson Welles' The Trial, just to name a few."
Balboni added: "It's a surreal western, so it’s spiced up with many elements foreign to the classic western comics. I tried to evoke the excitement and atmosphere of the Old West in a darker and distressing visual context, to attract both the lovers of classic Westerns and people who like a more intricate and oneiric narrative style."
