"KILLER IN DISGUISE"

AVAILABLE AT COMIC-CON

THURSDAY, JULY 21- SUNDAY, JULY 24

NEW YORK, NY (July 18, 2011) - LA-based rock band Annie Automatic will release a limited edition comic book "Killer In Disguise" at Comic-Con starting Thursday, July 21. The concept for "Killer In Disguise" was created by French & Feldman, and the story and script was written by Sam Scott. The comic book gives fans an inside look to the heart and background behind the band.

Lead singer and Annie Automatic visionary French stated, "'Annie Automatic: Killer In Disguise' is my way of diving into the story of our main character, and connecting with kids on another level. Getting it out there along with this new music too, I'm so excited to have been able to work with such talented friends and put something cool together that might be able to pull the readers and listeners into our world - where there's never a shortage of action and mystery, and the soundtrack's always moving in the background!"

"Killer in Disguise" features a girl name Annie who faces a life full of conflict, running, hiding and revenge. The story illustrates Annie's journey of rebellion from her mother and how she forms her own path. The comic book allows the audience to see another side to Annie Automatic and the story behind their music. Look for members of the Annie Automatic street team in San Diego this weekend to get a free, limited edition copy of "Killer in Disguise" at Comic-Con or purchase a copy online now at www.annieautomatic.com.

Annie Automatic's lead single "Burn this Prison" is now available on iTunes and their first full-length studio album, Don't Look Down, drops August 23, 2011.

ANNIE AUTOMATIC is a colorful lunatic... She listens to her music loud, and takes her shoes off to dance. She's the strange little animal inside all of us. The band strives for artistic honesty, and a level of fun and love that seems to be lacking in today's Alternative Rock'n'Roll. ANNIE AUTOMATIC is about beauty, chaos and freedom. It's about grabbing hold of the moment, and making it count. Let the madness in.

ELVIS PRESLEY Celebrated by
premiere global comic book artists

Inspiration for art to come from Elvis' music, movies,
personal sense of style and the archives at Graceland
creating a historic visual experience for fans of both Elvis and comic book art.

MEMPHIS, TN - July 18, 2011 - Liquid Comics announced today that they have licensed the name, image and likeness of Elvis Presley from Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. to produce a unique illustrated anthology of original artwork inspired by the King of Rock 'n' Roll. The book, entitled "Graphic Elvis," will combine rare quotes, photos, memorabilia and even notes written by Elvis himself with original pieces of artwork by leading international graphic novel artists.

With a release date timed to commemorate the 2012 35th anniversary of his death, "Graphic Elvis" will be an illustrated homage to Elvis' lifelong appreciation of comic books. This was one of the sources of inspiration for his unique sense of personal style and his fashion choices both on and off the stage.

Elvis shared the impact of comic books on his life in his famous acceptance speech for the 1971 Top Ten Outstanding Men of America award. "When I was a child ladies and gentlemen, I was a dreamer. I read comic books and I was the hero of the comic book...so every dream that I've dreamed has come true a hundred times," he said.

In the same way comic books inspired Elvis, this book will enable today's premiere comic book artists to find inspiration from Elvis' treasured archives at Graceland, creating a unique visual experience for his millions of fans. Acclaimed graphic novel artists, Paul Pope, Greg Horn, Jeevan Kang and Mukesh Singh will join dozens of artists being recruited from around the world to portray the King of Rock 'n' Roll in unprecedented visual styles. Beyond the original illustrations, the book will also feature numerous hand-written notes and musings, rarely seen by the public and written in the margins of various books owned by Elvis.

"Elvis Presley transcended every entertainment medium he touched, from music to movies to concerts, and now to graphic novels," stated Liquid Comics Co-Founder & CEO, Sharad Devarajan. "We are honored to be working with EPE, Inc. on this iconic celebration of Elvis' legacy. Through his personal reflections and archives we hope to allow Elvis' creativity to be channeled through the inspiring visuals from some of the most acclaimed creators in graphic fiction."

"We are very excited to work with Liquid Comics on such a unique book that we are certain Elvis' fans are going to love," added Carol Butler, Vice President of Worldwide Licensing for EPE. "The images we've seen so far do an amazing job of representing the spirit, the energy and the passion of Elvis that continues to create new fans around the world today. We can't wait to see what fantastic imagery will be created by the time the book is completed."

The illustrated, oversized coffee-table book will be released in stores early April of 2012, with a more immersive digital iPad edition also planned for release later that year. The book will be edited by Devarajan and Liquid Comics Co-Founder, Gotham Chopra.

However, a premium hardcover, collectors edition, priced at $195 and limited to only 2,500 copies worldwide, is currently available for pre-order to be shipped early for this years holiday season in December 2011. WITCHBLADE BEGINS A NEW CHAPTER
Tim Seeley and Diego Bernard Are Witchblade's New Creative Team

Berkeley, CA – 18 July 2011 – Sara Pezzini has been through a lot in the past six years. She's had a child, maintained her police career while juggling her duties as Witchblade, lost and gained back the mystical gauntlet, hunted down those who kidnapped her daughter, and even discovered the inner-workings of the universe. Her life has been eventful. However, nothing has prepared her for what's coming next!

Hot off the Top Cow universe-altering events of ARTIFACTS #13 and WITCHBLADE #150, WITCHBLADE #151 begins a new chapter in the story of Pezzini. The passionate new creative team will provide an ideal jumping on point for new readers.

These changes all start with Tim Seeley (HACK/SLASH) and Diego Bernard (The Man With No Name). Seeley and Bernard mark the first completely new creative team in over six years following the landmark run by Ron Marz and his co-collaborator Stjepan Sejic. Seeley will be using the Marz-era as a springboard from which to tell stories of Sara's new life and build on the rich Top Cow history and continuity while bringing a new voice and putting her through new challenges.

"Over the years, I've developed a rep as a guy who likes to write women who kick ass, and look great doing it," said Seeley. "I'm over-the-moon at getting the opportunity to follow up one of the most beloved creative teams in comic history, on one of the most enduring heroines ever!"

To celebrate this new chapter, Top Cow is lowering the regular cover price of Witchblade to $2.99 and offering two covers by John Tyler Christopher (ARTIFACTS) and Dennis Calero (X-Men: Noir), as well as a special retailer incentive cover by the legendary J. Scott Campbell.

WITCHBLADE #151 (AUG110425), a 32-page full color comic book, is available for order in the August issue of Previews.

IDW Announces Chris Roberson and Rich Ellis’s Memorial

An all-new comic series coming in February

[Memorial Cover]San Diego, CA (July 18, 2011)—As San Diego Comic-Con draws near, IDW Publishing is pleased to announce MEMORIAL, an original comic series beginning in February, written by New York Times best-selling author and creator of iZombie and Cinderella: Fables are Forever, Chris Roberson. Joining Roberson to produce this first fantastical mini-series is the enormously talented artist Rich Ellis.

“Memorial,” Roberson says, “is a kind of cross between Doctor Who and Sandman by way of Miyazaki. A comic about memory and magic, mythology and mystery.”

MEMORIAL is the story of Em, a young woman who arrives at a hospital in Portland, Oregon with no memory of her past. A year later, she has managed to rebuild her life, finding a job and friends, when her existence is thrown into turmoil after she inherits a magical shop, the kind that appears in an alley one instant and disappears the next. Em finds herself drawn into a supernatural conflict between immortal beings representing the fundamental aspects of the universe itself. All of existence is at stake, and the only things standing in the way of total oblivion are Em, the magical shop, and a talking cat.

PEE-WEE HERMAN TAKES THE STAGE AT SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON®

Thursday, July 21st at 1:15PM

LOS ANGELES, CA, JULY 18, 2011 – Fresh off his recent Emmy® nomination for the HBO production of his Broadway show, Pee-wee Herman will take the stage in Hall H at this week’s San Diego Comic-Con® 2011. The sure-to-be-spectacular solo panel will be in Hall H on Thursday, July 21 at 1:15pm. The three-time Emmy® nominated HBO special, THE PEE-WEE HERMAN SHOW ON BROADWAY, comes to DVD in October from Image Entertainment.

Said Pee-wee Herman of his upcoming Comic-Con® visit: "Initially I was coming to San Diego with the cast of Twilight, but we've since decided it's better for them to have two separate panels. I am SOOOO excited I can hardly breathe!"

THE PEE-WEE HERMAN SHOW ON BROADWAY reunites Paul Reubens and Marty Callner, who directed both this new television production and the 1981 HBO special “The Pee-wee Herman Show.”

The character of Pee-wee Herman is experiencing a remarkable renaissance, with enormous followings on Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare. Opening to critical acclaim at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on Nov. 11, 2010, “The Pee-wee Herman Show” is 90 minutes of subversive humor and childlike wonder based on both Reubens’ original stage show, “The Pee-wee Herman Show,” and the Emmy®-winning Saturday morning TV show, “Pee-wee’s Playhouse,” which became a cultural phenomenon. "Pee-wee's Playhouse" which celebrates its 25th Anniversary in September 2011, garnered 22 Emmy® awards during its original run, and was recently ranked among the "Ten Best Kids Shows With Grown Up Appeal" by NBC's Today Show. Renowned writer-director-producer Judd Apatow recently announced that he and Reubens are developing a new feature film based on the character.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY RETURNS TO COMIC-CON 2011 FOR THE FIFTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR AND BRINGS UNPRECEDENTED ACCESS TO THIS POP CULTURE FAN FEST

EW.com Partners with NowLive to Provide Three Full Days of Live Streaming Video

Digital Brand Extensions also Include Trend Tracking Infomous-Powered “Tag Cloud” and
Direct On-The-Scene Reporting with Fans via CNN iReport

EW’s Comic-Con Presence also includes Two All-Star Panels and our 5th annual Exclusive Closing Night Party Sponsored by Batman: Arkham City

NEW YORK (July 18, 2011) – Entertainment Weekly is invading Comic-Con for the fifth consecutive year with a comprehensive and multi-platform program that truly commemorates this annual fan fest. Through digital partnerships, onsite events and our award-winning editorial coverage, we’ll bring you the latest reporting, celebrate the fans and bring a piece of the action to the masses like never before. Our powerful line-up includes: two highly anticipated panels, three consecutive issues of Entertainment Weekly with comic-con coverage, a comprehensive and dynamic experience on EW.com and an exclusive A-list party sponsored by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s Batman: Arkham City videogame, which will host some of the biggest names in television and film.

“Comic-Con has always been a celebration of the fans, and so is EW,” said Jess Cagle, Entertainment Weekly managing editor. “That’s what makes it special, and that’s why we’re always there in a big way. This year EW.com managing editor Bill Gannon is building a very robust digital presence so we can bring all the stars and excitement at the convention to fans all over the world, as it’s happening, on our site. Comic-Con really has earned the title “The Super Bowl of Pop Culture” and we’re proud to bring consumers the best reporting and greatest access to it through our panels, our site, and our pages.”

The first of EW.com’s three digital initiatives this year is a partnership with NowLive, a full-service production and high-quality streaming company dedicated to live entertainment events that will incorporate three full days of streaming video from EW’s own photo and digital studio where famed photographer Michael Muller will take photos of the iconic talent attending the convention. We will also stream from the red carpet of our annual closing night star-studded event. Whether it’s the cast from HBO’s fan-favorite True Blood or the highly anticipated stars of Cowboys & Aliens, our partnership with NowLive will help provide a window into the glamorous celebrity scene at Comic-Con like only EW.com can. Fans can watch their favorite actors, casts, and comic-book heroes streamed live on Thursday, Friday and Saturday up close as they speak with EW’s editorial staff and hang out at EW’s exclusive rooftop spot at the Hard Rock Hotel. EW.com will also allow fans to submit their own questions to their favorite stars to be answered in real-time online.

“Our partnership with Entertainment Weekly is the perfect marriage of new technology and unparalleled entertainment reporting,” says Sara Bordo, Founder and President of NowLive. “We didn't set out to be another consumer solution for sharing webcam video – there are plenty of platforms already doing that really well. We saw a need for a live, professional, broadcast-quality solution with a relevant audience interaction platform. Comic-Con is the perfect stage to blend our technology with Entertainment Weekly’s longstanding reputation as a leading news and pop culture authority.”

Entertainment Weekly has always ignited the pop culture conversation, and in our efforts to take that to the next level, we have partnered for the first time with the Infomous-powered “Interactive Tag Cloud.” This trend-tracking device allows fans online access to the latest breaking news and videos from the convention floor in real time. The “Infomous Cloud” displays the most commonly used words (“tags”) from all of EW’s Comic-Con coverage as well as Twitter updates containing #SDCC -- bringing in a user-generated feel and a more accurate buzz meter from the ground of the Convention Center.

Comic-con has always been about the fans and to be sure we are providing a forum for their voice to be heard, EW.com has also partnered with CNN iReport, CNN’s global participatory news community, to get immediate and direct updates from iReporters and fans taking in the scene on the convention floor. This initiative will truly bring to light all of the costumes, excitement and genuine fan camaraderie that occur on the floor each day of the convention.

Entertainment Weekly’s Comic-Con panels will surely be the talk of the convention as they bring together some of the best and brightest creators in television and movies to discuss the work that is being done in their respective fields. The first of these panels will be Entertainment Weekly Presents … The Visionaries: A discussion with Jon Favreau (Cowboys & Aliens) and Guillermo del Toro (Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark) on the Future of Pop Culture. EW’s Jeff “Doc” Jensen will moderate an in-depth conversation with these two filmmakers at the forefront of bringing geek culture to the masses and making blockbuster art out of pulp fiction. They will discuss their inspirations, their current work, and how they strive to put a personal stamp on blockbuster entertainment. This panel will take place at 6:00pm on Thursday, July 21.

Next up, EW’s Lost gurus Jeff “Doc” Jensen and Dan “Dan” Snierson will moderate Totally LOST: One Year Later. The duo will wax nostalgic about the past, perhaps with a surprise guest or two, and discuss how they are “moving on” in the wake of Lost’s departure from the air a year ago. The duo will look to the future by previewing promising TV obsessions. This panel will take place at 3:30pm on Friday, July 22. Video highlights—as well as both of these entire panels—will be available on EW.com.

In addition, Entertainment Weekly is publishing its fourth annual Comic-Con preview package jam-packed with sneak peeks at some of the most highly anticipated TV shows and movies including The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Terra Nova, Immortals, Underworld 4: New Dawn, The Raven, Snow White and the Huntsman and EW’s exciting July 22nd cover story featuring Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man. Ten thousand copies of the fan favorite issue will be distributed at the Convention Center.

No Comic-Con experience would be complete without EW’s legendary closing night party on Saturday evening. This year, Entertainment Weekly will be joined by Hollywood’s biggest film and television talent and industry luminaries to celebrate all things pop culture at a poolside fete at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego. The exclusive event will be sponsored by Batman: Arkham City, the highly anticipated videogame based on DC Entertainment’s core Batman license, published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developed by Rocksteady Studios. Toshiba will also have a presence at this invitation-only star-studded event.

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Eagles Initiative was launched in May 2010 as an independent offshoot of the Eagle Awards to find and promote new creators in a worldwide talent search. With many industry professionals graciously agreeing to donate their time to judge a shortlist of twelve entries to form three prize winners, and with Stan Lee as its patron, it was a bold experiment.

"Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, I have had to reluctantly cancel this years Eagles Initiative competition due to low turnout," announced organiser Barry Renshaw. "Though many entries were of a very high standard, there were not enough submissions to make the competition viable. It's a decision that is bitterly disappointing to me and everyone involved, especially after the amount of time and effort put into it, but considering the poor response it was the only option."

Renshaw has stated that "all registration fees are being refunded and as per the guidelines, all submissions remain creator owned and of course will not be published by the Initiative." Entrants have already been informed.

While admitting to be "personally gutted" by the cancellation, Renshaw added "we will be looking at developing smaller more localised projects in the future. We still believe a proactive and progressive approach to finding and developing new talent is important and the Eagles Initiative will pursue that mandate in the future. In the meantime I want to take this opportunity to personally thank all the industry professionals for offering their time for free to be a competition judge, and for lending their support to what I still believe to be a unique opportunity for undiscovered talent."

Shel dorf Awards now open for nominations!
Includes the Jerry Bails Comic Book Fandom Award

Fans and creators will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite talents as the nomination ballots of the first Shel Dorf Awards are now open. The ballot consists of 16 categories that receive nominations until July 31 and then five finalists in each category will be voted upon. The winners will be announced at Detroit Fanfare, September 24-25, at the Cobo Hall Convention Center in Detroit.

Founded in 2010, along with the inaugural Detroit Fanfare, the Shel Dorf Awards are dedicated to recognizing the comic industry’s brightest talents. Like Shel, the awards are most concerned with the fan perspective, giving the fans their right and say in the nomination and voting process. Shel Dorf helped to launch what is arguably the first true comic convention in the country with Detroit Triple Fan Fair in 1965 before he moved to San Diego in 1970 to help initiate what is now Comic Con.

Although this is the first open nomination with fans voting, the Shel Dorf Awards were presented last year in a special ceremony to honor Shel and the start of the awards. Stan Lee was on hand to accept The Legacy of Comics Award. A special award was given to three individuals that helped to continue the convention that Shel started and the recipients of the Shel Dorf Torch Bearer’s Award were Marvin Giles, Carl Lundgren, and Greg Theakston.

In addition to the creative categories honored, the Shel Dorf Awards are emphasizing the role of fandom as there is an award for Best Blogger. There is a special award named the Jerry Bails Comic Book Fandom Award which is for excellence in the pursuit of the essence of comic fandom. Jerry Bails has been labeled the “father of comic book fandom” and his wife, Jean, accepted an award to begin the presentations this year. The Legacy of Comics Award is determined by the board of directors of Detroit Fanfare and will also be announced at the ceremony.

The Official Shel Dorf Award Ceremony will be held at Adiamo’s restaurant in the Marriott, the official convention Hotel, and will consist of a three course entre dinner, open bar, and presentations of the Awards. The presenters for the awards include some of the guests of the convention and already confirmed to hand out the awards are: Kevin Eastman, Raven Gregory, Ron Marz, Phil Hester, Tommy Lee Edwards, Tyler Kirkham, Ebas, and more to be announced.

More information will be forthcoming about how to get tickets for the event but any nominated finalist will of course, a guest of Detroit Fanfare.

Nomination ballot can be found online at http://www.sheldorfawards.com/submissions
