STRANGEco is pleased to announce the release of the WISH COME TRUE toy collection designed by modern art culture wizards Sam Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III, a.k.a. FriendsWithYou. Wish Come True is the next chapter in the visionary art and design saga of these two Miami art community heroes.

In the world of collectible Art Toys it is uncommon that a product is appropriate for young children as well as adults, not to mention one that can actually be play with. Each character in the Wish Come True series features weighted bottoms and built-in bell chimes, giving them all a playful rocking motion and a subtle, soothing sound. These beautiful figures are perfectly in line with FriendsWithYou's dream of spreading magic, luck and friendship throughout the universe. "Wish Come True is new spin on the new Art Toy genre that has been so popular in the past few years," comments Jim Crawford, co-founder of STRANGEco, "FriendsWithYou's great design appeals to the collector, and the playability appeals to the collector's kids, too."

Wish Come True will get an advance premiere at Art Basel Miami, December 6-9 2007, and the product will be released in January 2008. The FriendsWithYou team will also be presenting a touring installation in Spring 2008, featuring giant versions of the Wish Come True characters in a magical, interactive environment.

The six-piece Wish Comt True figure series are packaged in a full-color "mystery" box; much like a trading card, the figure inside is a surprise.

Anniversary edition of Sam & Max Surfin' the Highway comic collection now on sale

Paperback and hardcover versions available for preorder from www.telltalegames.com, along with special, limited-time gift offer

SAN RAFAEL, CA, February 6, 2008 - Twenty years after their comic book debut and over a decade after their collected works went out of print, the Freelance Police are back on the comic beat. Sam & Max creator Steve Purcell and Telltale, developer and publisher of episodic games based on the franchise, announced today that the anniversary edition of Surfin' the Highway is now available for purchase. This newly updated version of the complete Sam & Max comic collection can be preordered from www.telltalegames.com in two formats: a trade paperback, and a signed and numbered, limited edition hardcover.

The original Surfin' the Highway was released in 1995 and went out of print in 1997, relegating its purchase to exorbitant eBay auctions and the occasional discovery in a dusty corner of a neighborhood comic store. The anniversary edition includes all the content from the original plus 26 new pages, bringing the page count to 197. Of these, 45 pages are in full color, including the previously black-and-white "Fair Wind to Java," which has been updated using Purcell's original painted color guides. The new pages include the original advertisements for the first Freelance Police comic book (circa 1987), stories featured in the LucasArts Adventurer and Fox Kids magazines in the late 1990s, and recent paintings promoting Telltale's episodic games and Shout Factory's upcoming release of the Freelance Police animated series on DVD. The Surfin' the Highway anniversary edition also features a redesigned cover and author's note by Purcell.

"Thank Telltale for poking and prodding me to finally re-release Surfin' the Highway," says Sam & Max creator Steve Purcell. "Since the mid-90's edition has become scarce, I wanted to revisit the design of the book and have fun with the idea of it being some rare ancient volume. It's great that new fans can now find the book and folks who don't want their rare vintage edition mangled can stock up and start indoctrinating their friends. Flipping through the bound pages, I couldn't help but blurt out, 'This makes me want to draw comics again!' Fortunately, no one was close enough to hear."

The trade paperback retails for $19.99 and can be preordered now from Telltale's website (http://www.telltalegames.com/store/samandmax-highway), with an expected ship date of February 25. The paperback will also be carried in comic stores across North America. The limited edition hardcover, which sells for $49.99 only from Telltale's website, will be individually signed and numbered by Steve Purcell. The hardcover can also be preordered, and is scheduled to ship in Spring 2008.

In celebration of the release, Telltale is offering Surfin' the Highway customers a special gift. All Surfin' the Highway orders placed at www.telltalegames.com through February 29, 2008 will include a free downloadable copy of Ice Station Santa, the premiere episode of Sam & Max Season Two, Telltale's ongoing game series. Also through February 29, the full Season Two game collection is discounted to $26—a 25% savings over the regular price—when purchased in conjunction with the book. Additional Sam & Max merchandise, including t-shirts, hats, and a brand new "highway surfing" poster print, is also available. Visit http://www.telltalegames.com/store/samandmax-highway for details.

About Sam & Max
Sam & Max are the Freelance Police. Sam is a six-foot dog in a baggy suit sporting a trombone-sized .44 hand-cannon. Max is a three foot "rabbity thing" with a saw blade grin and the impulsive nature of the average piranha. Together they patrol the sticky streets of a fantastical New York City, righting wrongs, pummeling perps, and ridding the urban landscape of the shifty legions of "self-propelled gutter trash" that litter their streets. Sam & Max have appeared in comics, video games, an animated TV series coming soon to DVD, and an Eisner award-winning webcomic. They are currently appearing in a hilarious and critically acclaimed episodic game series, which can be found at www.telltalegames.com.

About Steve Purcell
Steve Purcell has worked in illustration, games, TV, and movies. His first scratchy Sam & Max strips appeared in his art school newspaper. Years later he produced a handful of Sam & Max comic books followed by adaptations as an acclaimed LucasArts computer game and an animated TV series on the Fox network. Steve currently works in story development for feature animation and after hours consults on Season Two of the critically acclaimed Sam & Max game series from California developer Telltale Games.

Hiya:

Wow, it HAS been a long time... Happy New Year; you look GORGEOUS!

Quiet as I've been on this microphone, in truth I've been working my
buns off since the new year began on a variety of projects... but
everything's been off-line (i know, i know). In the coming weeks I'll
fiiiinnnaaalllllly be able to discuss some of these tasty babies; in
the meantime kindly indulge me in a quartet of infobits I'd like you to
aware of:

* This Friday (Feb 8) at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles, I have an
original piece of art up for charity auction at the Comic Book Legal
Defense Fund benefit (http://cbldf.org/), a poster-sized color
portrait of the hero of Vertigo's Y THE LAST MAN just finishing its
run. You can see the piece here (http://tinyurl.com/2sue2v); if you're
in LA, do come by and bid on it as it benefits us cartoonists' first
line of legal defense with First Amendment issues.

* Tuesday evening (Feb 12th), I’m giving a talk with my SHOOTING WAR
co-author Anthony Lappé at the Main Branch of the New York Public
Library; the talk will an expansion of the multimedia presentation we
gave on tour this past fall, chock full of behind-the-scenes
information on the evolution of the book from webcomic to hardcover;
6:30pm on the sixth floor (info here: http://tinyurl.com/2ufzxa)

* I've got a set of illustrations in this week's New York Magazine
accompanying an article by the writing team of "The Office" so give
that a gander as I'm really proud of it.

* And I've recently been confirmed as a guest speaker at both Austin
TX's SXSW Interactive in March and for Toronto's Luminato 2008 Arts &
Creativity Festival in June; more details are available via
http://dangoldman.net

And listen, the fact that we're not doing "this" as often doesn't mean
I don't care anymore; in fact my feelings have grown in your absence.
I promise to be more present here in your inbox this year as there's
lots going on and I need to talk about it with someone.

Until next we speak again... whatever you're doing, KEEP DOING IT!

Gnomes are real! Believed to be simple yard decorations, these
“Garden
Gnomes” once roamed the Earth as its greatest protectors. Long ago a
curse
was placed upon them, petrifying them until the day they were needed to

protect the Earth once more. In 1956 the world was in peril… and one
lonely
gnome answered the call.

Publisher Jason Martin on Gnome, and Super Real Graphics Presents,
"Gnome is
an all ages book, with smart concepts, scripting, and design, that can
appeal to young, old, male or female, a well rounded tale, that will
win
over many hearts, and is a perfect example of what Super Real Graphics
new
line of original self-contained books is about! I'm truly ecstatic to
offer
Gnome, and future works in this new reader and retailer friendly
format, and
sincerely hope that Super Real Graphics Presents can grow into a brand

MINDstyle and Dark Horse Comics

Ink Worldwide Sales Agreement

Dark Horse is proud to announce they have signed an agreement to act as exclusive sales agent for the entire program of licensed products for MINDstyle—a California-based company which has recently emerged as a leading manufacturer of high-end collectible figures. The initial offerings, slated for release beginning in March, will include deluxe limited-edition vinyl figures and specialty products based on the classic Jim Henson film The Dark Crystal, comics artist Frank Cho’s Liberty Meadows, and award-winning painter Brom’s acclaimed book The Plucker.

“We are very excited to be associated with MINDstyle in putting this sales program together,” Dark Horse Vice President of Product Development David Scroggy stated, “and we are confident that they will help us make the release of these highly collectible, top-quality, limited editions a key event for collectors and film fans.”

MINDstyle has developed one of the most sought-after product lines in the burgeoning market of designer “art vinyl” figures. They are highly regarded for their unsurpassed work in creating a wide variety of limited-edition pieces derived from the work of contemporary artists. Their talented team of sculptors, painters, package designers and technicians have worked hard to set the MINDstyle line apart from the ordinary, and this attention to detail and quality control results in one sold-out piece after another. Each is highly prized by collectors.

“We are very pleased to be working with Dark Horse,” MINDstyle spokesperson M.D. Young remarked. “For MINDstyle, it was a natural progression in finding the right distributor for our products. We felt it was time to team up with someone who understood our vision and complimented our brand best. In this case, Dark Horse was the right company because of its “indie” identity and ability to reach a wider audience; and, it simply made good business sense. ”

“It's an exciting year!” Young continued. “We are breaking new ground with the products that Dark Horse is distributing—doing things outside of just the vinyl art toys. We will release a series of 25th-anniversary Fraggle Rock vinyl collectibles, and there are some really limited The Dark Crystal figures in the works. We're very excited about the art replicas from the late Viktor Schreckengost, and there will be some really cool 12- inch figures from the Shaw Brothers kung fu classics, 36th Chamber of Shao Lin and Shao Lin Temple.”

The initial offerings of the products will take place at the International Toy Fair in New York, February 17–20, 2008. Exhibited in Javits Center, booth #5744 , this presentation offers the first trade-only look at some exceptional pieces, including several new items displayed for the first time.
Following Success of Movie, 30 Days of Night World Lives On in New Comic Book TPB

IDW Publishing reinvents the horrifying world of vampires in new comic book, 30 Days of Night: Beyond Barrow

San Diego, CA (February 4, 2008)-Fans of 30 Days of Night will now have the chance to enjoy the further expansion of the 30 Days world and characters through IDW Publishing's horrific new comic book, 30 Days of Night: Beyond Barrow.

Beyond Barrow is an extension of the 30 Days of Night story, which was originally released as a comic in 2002 and became the hit motion picture from Sony Pictures in October, opening at the number one spot on the big screen. The terrifying story details a small Alaskan town-Barrow-that is overrun by vampires during 30 sunless days of the harsh northern winter. When released as a comic book by IDW Publishing, the horrifying vampire tale shocked the comic book world and quickly became a hit.

With two direct graphic novel sequels and assorted spin-off series and prose novels since the original, Beyond Barrow picks up where the ongoing story left off. This time a new creature is lurking, which is preying on both humans and vampires. "By introducing a new threat even to the vampires, this story takes the whole idea further than it's ever gone before," says Chris Ryall, publisher and editor-in-chief at IDW Publishing.

Most notable about Beyond Barrow is that series co-creator/writer Steve Niles has paired up with legendary artist Bill Sienkiewicz to create this terrifying story, which was originally released as a three-part series. Sienkiewicz, an acclaimed multimedia artist who has enjoyed a strong comic book following since the early 1980s, was a major influence on artist Ben Templesmith, who created the art for the original 30 Days of Night. For this newest launch, Sienkiewicz is doing fully-painted covers and artwork.

The trade paperback will be in stores February 2008; call 1-888-comic-book (1-888-266-4226) to find a store near you.

a BOUNTY of HUNTERS

Dark Horse Deluxe is proud to announce that the acclaimed series of Kotobukiya ARTFX Statues is expanding with the addition of the most requested characters from the Star Wars universe: THE BOUNTY HUNTERS SERIES! From the darkest chapter of the saga, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Darth Vader has summoned mercenaries from across the galaxy to help him capture Han Solo, thereby luring Luke Skywalker into a deadly confrontation. Six of the fiercest hunters are assembled: Dengar, 4-LOM, Zuckass, Bossk, IG-88, and the legendary BOBA FETT. The enigmatic Boba Fett stands 11 3/4" inches tall in a dynamic combat pose, simultaneously flying and firing his flame-thrower. His distinctive Mandalorian armor has been replicated with stunning accuracy, with detailing based upon the costume used in Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

Each of the Bounty Hunters will include special collectors bonus parts. Once all six Hunters have been released, the bonus parts from each statue can be assembled to create a brand new, full-size DARTH VADER ARTFX statue! Fett will include Darth Vader’s left arm. There will also be additional extra-special secret bonus parts included with upcoming Hunters so that Darth Vader can be displayed in three different poses. The Hunters will mount on a unique hexagonal base, which can be linked together on any side, creating a variety of display options for the full series of characters—including an arrangement that forms the Imperial logo!

With its large scale and impeccable paint applications, this ARTFX Statue is a snap-fit kit that can be easily put together in seconds without glue or modeling skill. Look for a new Bounty Hunter each month, with the next release scheduled to be IG-88!

Boba Fett will be available through Dark Horse Deluxe starting on April 23, 2008 with a new Bounty Hunter release each month. Each of the Bounty Hunters will have an SRP of $125.00.

Tireless, fearless, merciless, unencumbered by human emotion, and dedicated to the complete eradication of mankind, they came from another time to ensure that the future would belong solely to the machines. They are Terminators—indestructible killing engines hiding inside shells of flesh and blood. But despite the frailty of human flesh, nothing is as immortal as the human spirit, and even the strongest metal will bend to its will to survive. . .
