Dark Horse Deluxe Reveals New Character in Line of “Game of Thrones®” Figures

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: SAN DIEGO, CA —Dark Horse Deluxe, an imprint of Dark Horse Comics, has revealed the latest figure in an ongoing series of characters from the critically acclaimed HBO® series Game of Thrones®—Son of the Harpy.
The Sons of the Harpy is an underground insurgency group composed of former slavers who are fighting the rule of Daenerys Targaryen over Meereen. They take their name from the harpy, the heraldic symbol of the slave masters in the Ghiscari cities of Slaver’s Bay. They conceal their identities by wearing golden masks with horned faces resembling harpies.
Dark Horse Deluxe’s detailed figure represents one of the many Sons of the Harpy seen on HBO’s adaptation of Game of Thrones.
Son of the Harpy will be the twenty-fifth figure in the series and is slated for in-store release in October of 2016.
“The Dark Horse Game of Thrones figure series, with over twenty-five characters produced so far, has become a collection. We thought the mysterious and dangerous Son of the Harpy was the perfect candidate to join the family,” Dark Horse Product Development head David Scroggy remarked.
The Son of the Harpy collectible will join seven additional Game of Thrones figures released in 2016: Ygritte, Margaery Tyrell, Oberyn Martell, Grey Worm, Varys, The Night King, and Stannis Baratheon.
Response to Dark Horse Deluxe’s Game of Thrones collectibles line has been tremendous, and additional characters and products are in development for release in fall and winter 2016.
Game of Thrones figures have a suggested retail price of $24.99 and are packaged in deluxe window box packaging.

DESTINATION AMERICA’S “PARANORMAL LOCKDOWN HALLOWEEN SPECIAL” (WT) INVESTIGATES THE SITE OF HISTORY’S MOST VIOLENT POLTERGEIST HAUNTING

- Two-Hour Television Event Premieres Friday, October 28 at 9/8c, Headlining GHOSTOBER, a Month of Non-Stop Supernatural Programming -

(San Diego, Calif.) – This October it’s Halloween all month long on Destination America with a celebration of all things that go bump in the night. October – make that GHOSTOBER! – keeps the thrills and chills coming with week after week of premieres so spooky viewers will never want to leave the safety of their sofa. TV’s #1 home for paranormal programming delivers tricks and treats every night of the week during GHOSTOBER, culminating in a supernatural television event sure to scare socks off. From the network that delivered the first-ever live televised exorcism last fall, comes the two-hour PARANORMAL LOCKDOWN HALLOWEEN SPECIAL (wt), premiering Friday, October 28 at 9/8c only on Destination America.

The special television event follows paranormal all-star Nick Groff and seasoned ghost hunter Katrina Weidman from Destination America’s hit series PARANORMAL LOCKDOWN as they investigate the Black Monk House, located in Yorkshire, England, which is universally feared as the home of the most violent poltergeist activity in history. Groff and Weidman will confine themselves to the infamous house for the longest paranormal investigation ever on television in an attempt to capture the most convincing paranormal evidence ever to be recorded. World renowned paranormal researcher and demonologist John Zaffis, whose hit series HAUNTED COLLECTOR currently airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on Destination America, will provide analysis.

“The Black Monk House is an absolutely terrifying location that, as we’re hearing from the cast and crew, is already haunting the production team as they prepare to begin filming on location,” said Jane Latman, general manager of Destination America, “Marking Destination America’s first ghost hunt abroad, the special is an exciting milestone in our quest to present paranormal fans with the scariest supernatural stories known to man.”

Today, the Black Monk House sits empty. It continues to challenge paranormal investigators and enthusiasts, as no one has been able to withstand more than two days in the house. Over the last 50 years, visitors to the Black Monk House have reported unexplainable demonic sounds, objects levitating, and people being physically attacked. There was even an account of a little girl being dragged up a flight of stairs by an unseen assailant, forcing her family to flee the home. It’s believed that the spirits in the house can be traced to an ancient burial ground and gallows that were once located near the land where the house currently sits.

"There are few locations in the world that frighten me to investigate, and the Black Monk House has a strong energy pull like nothing else I've ever researched,” said Nick Groff, executive producer and host, PARANORMAL LOCKDOWN. “The history of the land holds a massive amount of bloodshed, and the house has a heart still pumping the negative forces continuing to harm the living.”

In addition to the special, PARANORMAL LOCKDOWN is currently filming its second season, slated to hit Destination America’s air in early, 2017.

PARANORMAL LOCKDOWN HALLOWEEN SPECIAL (wt) is produced for Destination America by Groff Entertainment with Nick Groff and Justin Narragon as executive producers. For Destination America, Fay Yu is executive producer, Jane Latman is general manager, and Henry Schleiff is Group President of Investigation Discovery, American Heroes Channel, and Destination America.

IDW Publishing and DC Entertainment Announce Two New Crossovers
New Batman/TMNT Adventures and Star TrekTM/Green Lantern Crossovers Forthcoming

San Diego, CA (July 22, 2016) – IDW Publishing and DC Entertainment will continue their successful editorial mash-ups and bring fans two new comic book crossovers based on some of their most popular properties, including a sequel to the smash-hit co-publishing venture Star Trek/Green Lantern and an all new crossover with animation-inspired versions of Batman and Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

“We’re very happy to extend our ongoing relationship with DC with these iconic characters in new storylines,” says Greg Goldstein, President and COO of IDW Publishing.  “Fans who enjoyed the previous series will enjoy the fun, new adventures we have in store for these upcoming titles.”

  • Captain Kirk and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise will once again cross paths with the Green Lantern Corps in a sequel to last year’s Star Trek/Green Lantern series. The creative team of Mike Johnson and Angel Hernandez will reteam for another epic space opera, this one picking up the new status quo where it left off and introducing additional cosmic heroes and villains familiar to fans of both series. This series is slated for a winter 2016 launch.
  • Following the recent success of Batman/TMNT, IDW, DC, and Nickelodeon are also happy to announce another pairing between the Caped Crusader and the Ninja Turtles: Batman/TMNT Adventures, coming this November. Based on the animated versions of both series, this storyline for fans of all ages will bring the Dark Knight of the beloved Batman: The Animated Series in contact with Nickelodeon’s animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The dynamic duo of writer Matthew K. Manning (Beware the Batman) and artist Jon Sommariva (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Amazing Adventures) will team on the series.

“The previous Star Trek/Green Lantern and Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossovers were a huge hit with fans of each of the characters,” said Hank Kanalz, DC SVP of Editorial Strategy and Administration. “Bringing these characters back again, and expanding Batman and the Turtles to the realm where they’re most recognized by comic fans and fans of the TV series will make for a great story that any fan can’t wait to read.”

“It’s always a blast to pair up beloved characters in comic series, and our recent pairings with DC have been especially satisfying on a creative level and in regards to fan satisfaction, too,” said Chris Ryall, IDW’s Chief Creative Officer. “Being able to bring Ciro Nieli’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to the amazing animated Gotham envisioned by Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski is a major bonus.”

Stay tuned for more upcoming news regarding these massively popular pairings from two of today’s most premier comic book publishers.

Jack Kirby’s Fantastic Four Artist’s Edition Coming from IDW!
Celebrating “King” Kirby’s Centennial Birthday Year with Historic Launch in 2017

San Diego, CA (July 21, 2016) – January 2017 will see the release of Jack Kirby’s Fantastic Four Artist’s Edition, collecting multiple complete stories, all captured directly from Jack Kirby’s original art. This will be the second Artist’s Edition of Kirby’s immensely popular and influential Marvel work, following the recent release of the highly anticipated Jack Kirby’s The Mighty Thor Artist’s Edition.

"These issues of Fantastic Four represent Jack Kirby operating at the top of his game, which is about as high a compliment as I can pay a comic book,” said noted comics historian and Kirby biographer Mark Evanier. "As a reader, I felt like the fifth member of the Fantastic Four—and that was in the small format with the bad printing. When I get the IDW book, I will probably want to move into it and live there."

Kirby’s work on the Fantastic Four, with his long-time collaborator Stan Lee, is considered to be some of the finest comics ever done. Adding to the prestige, legendary inker Joe Sinnott embellished all the pages in this book. This breathtaking volume will include Issues #82 and #83 (guest-starring the Inhumans), and the 48-page epic from Fantastic Four Annual #6, featuring the birth of Franklin Richards, plus more!

“Kirby’s inventive story-telling set the bar that Marvel has honored for decades,” says David Gabriel, SVP Sales & Marketing, Marvel Comics. “We couldn’t be prouder to see this fantastic work made available in this new prestige over-sized format that pays tribute to Jack ‘The King’ Kirby’s exemplary talent and skill.”

“What better way is there to kick off Jack Kirby’s centennial birthday year than by releasing our first Kirby Fantastic Four Artist’s Edition?” said editor (and life-long Kirby fan) Scott Dunbier. “And did you catch how I said first?”

IDW Pioneered the Artist’s Edition format in 2010 and has won five consecutive Eisner Awards to date.

IDW Announces Post-Revolution Debuts!
G.I. JOE, M.A.S.K., and Other New Titles Explode Out of
September’s Bi-Weekly Event Series

San Diego, CA (July 21, 2016) – This September, the 5-part bi-weekly REVOLUTION will forever impact the future of Transformers, G.I. Joe, ROM, Micronauts, Action Man, and M.A.S.K.: Mobile Armored Strike Kommand, establishing a cohesive comic book universe for all these characters and titles. Spinning out of those universe-defining events, multiple exciting new Hasbro-licensed titles will follow shortly thereafter to pick up the story where Revolution leaves off.

  • G.I. JOE will re-launch as an ongoing with a new creative team and new #1 this December following a Revolution tie-in one-shot in October. Writer Aubrey Sitterson (Street Fighter X G.I. Joe) and artist Giannis Milonogiannis (Prophet) will collaborate on this fresh take on the long-running series, putting a unique spin on the Joe legacy in a post-Revolution world while delving into the cast’s deep roster of iconic characters.

  • M.A.S.K.: Mobile Armored Strike Kommand gets a monthly series for the first time courtesy of writer Brandon Easton (Transformers: Deviations) and artist Tony Vargas (Rot & Ruin). A one-shot Revolution tie-in will coincide with the September launch of Revolution #1 & #2. The ongoing series launch will follow in November. The take on this beloved series will be contemporary but with a slight touch of nostalgia to satisfy fans of the 1980’s cartoon.

  • The Revolution ripple effect continues to shake things up as IDW’s Transformers line will see some changes with the introduction of two new ongoing titles: Transformers: Lost Light and the first-ever ongoing Optimus Prime series.

Transformers: Lost Light will continue the fan-favorite adventures told by More Than Meets the Eye writer James Roberts, joined on art by Jack Lawrence (Doctor Who Adventures). Beginning in December, this new series will take Rodimus and the crew of the starship Lost Light into the farthest reaches of the universe, searching for the long-lost Knights of Cybertron.

Next, John Barber, who recently exited his post as IDW’s Hasbro Group Editor, won’t be straying too far from his IDW roots as he tackles Optimus Prime, the first solo series to star the eponymous Autobot. John will be joined by artist Kei Zama (Scarlett Witch). Optimus Prime has declared Earth to be under his protection—and this November, he’ll have to face the consequences.

All those titles will join the currently running Transformers: Till All Are One, Micronauts, and upcoming ROM, which will each continue on, their storylines now converging with this newly established universe as their backdrop.

The lushly illustrated middle-grade series tells the sci-fi/fantasy adventure of a defiant young girl and the five worlds facing extinction unless five ancient and mysterious beacons are lit. When war erupts on her home planet, she meets two unlikely companions and discovers there’s more to herself—and to her world’s history—than meets the eye.

“Like so many other children, I grew up gazing at the stars and dreaming of making friends in far-flung parts of our universe,” says Siegel. “Here I am years later working with four fellow dreamers—Alexis, Matt, Xanthe, and Boya—on a five-part story of friendship that defies galactic boundaries. On behalf of our team, I am so excited to invite you to join us to discover new worlds together. We hope you’ll like what you see.”

“Mark Siegel’s talent and expertise in the graphic novel genre are unprecedented, so it isn’t surprising that he and his extraordinary creative team are breaking new ground with 5 WORLDS,” says Nagler. “This is a series that readers will devour and return to over and over again.”

SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON ANNOUNCEMENT:INTERTWINED, THE KICKSTARTER COMIC SENSATION FROMFABRICE SAPOLSKY AND FRED PHAM CHUONG, COMES TO DYNAMITE

FAST AS LIGHTNING, A LITTLE BIT FRIGHTENING...
STYLISH KUNG FU NOIR COMICS THAT KICK FROM THE HIP!

July 20, 2016, Mt. Laurel, NJ: Dynamite Entertainment, a company known for publishing such legendary characters like The Shadow and Will Eisner's The Spirit, announces today that the first-ever Kung Fu Noir comic, Intertwined, has found a home with the leading publisher of Comic Book Noir!

A murder. A mysterious league of protectors operating in the shadows. A legacy to protect. A city to save from filth, corruption and gangs. A girl who has to pose as a man to protect herself and her heritage. A young Kung Fu student unwillingly caught in the middle in a concrete jungle. Welcome to the world of Intertwined. It's 1971 and for Juan Jin, life is about to become hell! He didn't ask to be a hero. He didn't ask to go to Chinatown. He only wanted to follow the way of Wing Chun, the Kung Fu style he masters brilliantly. But destiny had other plans for him!

"Ten years ago, I came up with the concept for Spider-Man Noir. If Spidey Noir was just a reinvention of Peter Parker in the 1930s, with a social background, Intertwined is a more personal story," says writer Fabrice Sapolsky. "It came to me last year after I spent time in China. It's Noir. It has super-powered individuals. But it also deals with themes that I wanted to talk about for a long time: what it means to be an alien in America, to be different in a society that officially praises the melting pot but fears and sometimes hates differences. And of course, it had to have Kung Fu. I'm a VHS kid. Spent most of my teenage years at the video club watching Hong Kong movies. Every comic book I read and wrote led me to Intertwined. It's entertainment with substance."

"My father taught me Kung Fu and shared his love for Bruce Lee with me," says artist Fred Pham Chuong. "Working on Intertwined is a chance to pay homage to these two great men who are very important to me."

"Fabrice had me at ‘Kung Fu Noir' when he pitched this project," says Dynamite's Director of Business Development, Rich Young. "I'm a fan of both, so it was a no-brainer to set this up at Dynamite. Fred and Fabrice are telling a very cool and gritty story story here!"

"It's no secret that we here at Dynamite love crime noir, especially in comics! From The Shadow to Miss Fury, The Green Hornet to The Spider, we are proud to publish the best the genre has to offer," says Dynamite president and publisher, Nick Barrucci. "Now, we are pleased to publish the first story of its kind, a gritty collage of crime, corruption, and kung fu!"

Fellow creators praise Intertwined:
"Bruce Lee meets Swamp Thing in Intertwined, a tale of mystery, martial arts, and menace. It's masterful!" - David Gallaher (The Only Living Boy, High Moon)

"Intertwined asks the question: if Peter Parker had been a Chinese immigrant, what kind of hero would he have become? Fabrice's love of American popular culture is evident, but here he's re-introducing some diverse elements by referencing Chinese legends and teaming with artist Fred Pham Chuong to lend the book the visual style of martial arts manhua. This comic has the feel of Bruce Lee movies and the 1970s Kung Fu TV show, but with a hard-bitten noir edge. A timely message on cooperation for today's dis-United States." - David Hine (Second Sight, Darkness, Spawn)

"With Intertwined, Sapolsky, Pham Chong, and Lopez manage to capture the thrill of a period 70s Kung Fu tale while putting their own unique, modern spin on the tale. Frederic Pham Chong is an artist to watch; don't miss out on his electrifying debut!" - Mark Sable (Graveyard of Empires)

"An elemental version of Rock, Paper, Scissors... Intertwined spiritually picks up where chopsocky movies of the 1970s and hip-hop of the 1990s left off." - Dean Haspiel (The Red Hook, Billy Dogma)

Intertwined #1 will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors' August 2016 Previews catalog, the premiere source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in October. Comic book fans are encouraged to reserve copies of Intertwined with their local comic book retailers. Intertwined will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Dynamite Digital, iVerse, and Dark Horse Digital..
