IDW Announces New Comic Series Based on the Original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Comics Publisher Partners with Nickelodeon to Bring Turtle Power to Comics and Graphic Novels This Summer

San Diego, CA (April 1, 2011) – More than 25 years after its first comic book, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles return to their roots with IDW Publishing. Today at WonderCon in San Francisco, IDW and Nickelodeon announced a long-term agreement to offer an all-new installment of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics and graphic novels. Starting this summer, IDW’s comic series will bring the “Heroes in a Half Shell” back into action. IDW’s new comics are part of a larger initiative to bring Turtles to a new generation of fans, starting with these new storylines from the original series. Additionally, in fourth quarter 2012, Nickelodeon will premiere a new CG-animated version of the wildly popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise.

“Through this partnership, we’re able to introduce Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to a new generation of fans, while also providing new stories for the fans who grew up enjoying these comics,” said Paula Allen, Senior Vice President, Global Publishing, Nickelodeon Consumer Products. “These all-new comics and graphic novels based on the original series will support the overwhelming demand we’ve received from the millions of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans looking to reconnect with this celebrated franchise.”

Created in 1984 by Mirage Studios founders Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles quickly went from an independently published, black and white comic to one of the most popular brands in the world. IDW's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will kick off with an ongoing series this summer, featuring new and exciting storylines that also maintain the “turtle power” core beloved by millions of fans. In addition to the all-new series, TMNT fans will also be treated to newly remastered collections of classic Turtles comics, beginning with the original 1980s series that started this worldwide phenomenon.

“We’re thrilled to be a part of Turtles,” said Greg Goldstein, chief operating officer for IDW. “This is one of the most successful comic book franchises ever, and we look forward to exploring new territory with our ongoing series, as well as reliving all the classic adventures.”

The return of Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael and the rest of the TMNT world begins this summer. In IDW’s all-new, original series, readers will follow their favorite characters on exciting adventures that explore new depths of the TMNT universe.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES comics will be available in comic stores throughout North America in Summer 2011.

New Adaptation of Servant of the Bones Coming in August

IDW Partners With Best-Selling Author Anne Rice to Release New Comic Book Series

San Diego, CA (April 1, 2011) — IDW Publishing is proud to announce a new partnership with best-selling author Anne Rice (Interview with a Vampire, Queen of the Damned), kicking off with a new six-issue adaptation of Servant of the Bones. Rice, the creator of fantastic worlds filled with vampires and witches, takes fans back to the time of Isaiah and Jeremiah, and the destruction of Solomon's Temple, to tell the story of Azriel, the Servant of the Bones.

“This is an exciting adaptation! IDW has certainly chosen the finest artists and writers for this project,” said Rice. “The script is marvelous. Renae De Liz’s penciling has captured my characters exquisitely. Ray Dillon’s colors are alive and gorgeous. This Servant of the Bones adaptation is perfect!”

IDW's adaptation of Servant of the Bones will be written by Mariah McCourt, with art by Renae DeLiz and Ray Dillon. This opulent tale will take readers from ancient Babylon to modern day New York City, from the madness of fanaticism to the peace of faith. Once again Anne Rice fans will be able to enjoy her talent in delivering melancholic and psychologically charged moods through this newly adapted version of one of her most recognized works.

In Servant of the Bones, Azriel is an immortal spirit who is bound to the gold-encased bones of his mortal body. Throughout the story, he struggles to understand whether he is a ghost, genie, demon or angel. He shares his story with the reader as he travels from an ancient Babylon of royal plots and religious upheavals to Europe during the Black Death and on to the modern world in New York City. Amidst the towers of Manhattan, he finds himself in confrontation with his own human memories and the dark forces that have sought to condemn him to a life of evil and destruction.

“Servant of the Bones is a deeply layered, lush, and lyrical story. It's visually rich, compelling, and asks the really big questions about life, love and death,” said IDW editor Mariah Huehner. “We're very excited to be working with Anne Rice, one of the most prolific writers of this generation, and we just hope we can do the story the justice it deserves. Getting to work with Renae DeLiz and Ray Dillon, the remarkable team behind The Last Unicorn, assures me that we can.”

SERVANT OF THE BONES #1 ($3.99, 32 pages, full color) will be available August 2011.

THE HARDY BOYS The New Case Files #2 “Break-Up!”

ARE JOE AND FRANK HARDY SEPARATING?!

Scripted by the legendary Gerry Conway

The world-famous Hardy Boys have been solving mysteries together for what seems like forever, but a rift in their relationship is threatening to tear them apart. After the events of THE HARDY BOYS The New Case Files #1 “Crawling with Zombies,” Joe and Frank no longer want to work with each other. To Frank, Joe is too impulsive and a liability to have around. Joe sees his brother as too slow to act, leading to missed opportunities. Their differences almost led to catastrophic consequences they barely avoided in their last mission.

Volume #2 “BREAK-UP!” finds the two brothers forced into working together, as they have been assigned a joint case by A.T.A.C. that will necessitate them going undercover together as contestants on a popular reality TV series “Break-Up,” to find out why a contestant has mysteriously died. Will they be able to hold things together long enough to solve the case? And will this turn out to be their last case? If being on the show doesn’t kill them, the strain of working together just might!

Legendary comics writer Gerry Conway and artist Paulo Henrique take the world-famous teen sleuths in a bold new direction that’s sure to thrill and possibly shock Hardy Boys fans. See why Kirkus Reviews called THE HARDY BOYS The New Case Files #1 “[A] fresh graphic-novel retooling,” and that “Henrique’s art… provide[s] a simmering friction between the brothers.”

Comics legend Gerry Conway wrote the classic Amazing Spider-Man #121 “The Night Gwen Stacy Died,” which Marvel named one of its greatest comic books of all time. He has also written for Batman, Detective Comics, Flash (DC), Captain America, Daredevil, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man (Marvel Comics) and countless others. Paulo Henrique has illustrated The Hardy Boys graphic novels volumes 7 through 20 and continues his run with The Hardy Boys The New Case Files. He first brought his unique Manga style to the United States in Top Cow Productions’ Myth Warriors.

The full-length animated Green Lantern: Emerald Knights will be distributed by Warner Home Video as a Blu-Ray™ Combo Pack and DVD. The film will also be available On Demand and for Download.

Green Lantern: Emerald Knights weaves six legendary stories of the Green Lantern Corps’ rich mythology around preparations for an attack by an ancient enemy. As the battle approaches, Hal Jordan mentors new recruit Arisia in the history of the Green Lantern Corps, telling tales of Avra (the first Green Lantern) and several of Hal’s comrades – including Abin Sur, Kilowog, Laira and Mogo. In the end, Arisia must rise to the occasion to help Hal, Sinestro and the entire Green Lantern Corps save the universe from the destructive forces of Krona.

Primetime television stars Nathan Fillion (Castle) and Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men) lead a diverse array of performers as the voices behind the Green Lantern Corps.

Fillion provides the voice of the animated film’s central character, Hal Jordan, the human Green Lantern assigned to Sector 2814 (which includes Earth). Fillion has starred in several primetime television series including his current hit Castle as well as Desperate Housewives, Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He has also developed a popular cult following as a pair of Joss Whedon’s heroic captains: Capt. Mal Reynolds in the space-western series Firefly and follow-up film, Serenity; and Captain Hammer in Whedon’s internet sensation Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Fillion returns to the DC Universe after his successful turn as Steve Trevor in the animated film Wonder Woman, and has performed voice work on the animated series Justice League, Robot Chicken, The Venture Bros., and several Halo video games.

Moss gives voice to Arisia, a young recruit forced into her first mission on just her third day as a Green Lantern. Prior to starring as the ever-evolving Peggy Olson in AMC’s ground-breaking series Mad Men, Moss was featured on The West Wing, Invasion and Picket Fences. Moss has been active in voiceovers for animation with previous roles in Steven Spielberg Presents Animaniacs, Freakazoid! and It’s Spring Training, Charlie Brown!.

The voice cast for Green Lantern: Emerald Knights also features actor/spoken word artist Henry Rollins (Sons of Anarchy, The Henry Rollins Show) as Kilowog, Jason Isaacs (the Harry Potter films) as Sinestro, legendary professional wrestler “Rowdy” Roddy Piper (They Live) as Bolphunga, Arnold Vosloo (The Mummy) as Abin Sur, Kelly Hu (The Vampire Diaries) as Laira and Wade Williams (Prison Break) as Deegan. Radio Hall of Fame commentator/talk show host Michael Jackson voices the esteemed Guardian, Ganthet.

The six interlocking tales are penned by comic book luminaries Geoff Johns, Dave Gibbons, Peter J. Tomasi, Eddie Berganza, Alan Burnett, Todd Casey and Michael Green & Marc Guggenheim.

“Green Lantern: Emerald Knights is filled with wonderful backstory and exposition on the Green Lantern Corps going far beyond Hal Jordan, making this film a perfect complement to the live-action major motion picture, Green Lantern,” said Hersin Magante, WHV Marketing Director, Family & Animation.

Music Critic Paul Nelson Finally Gets His Due

MARCH 31, 2011, SEATTLE, WA—Fantagraphics is proud to announce Everything Is an Afterthought: The Life and Writings of Paul Nelson. Author Kevin Avery spent four years researching and writing this unique anthology-biography. This book compiles Nelson’s best works and also provides a vivid account of his life.

In the ’60s, Paul Nelson pioneered rock & roll criticism with a first-person style of writing later coined “New Journalism.” During a five-year detour at Mercury Records, he signed the New York Dolls to their first recording contract, and then settled back down to music criticism at Rolling Stone. Through his writing, Nelson championed the early careers of artists like Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Rod Stewart, Neil Young, Warren Zevon, The Sex Pistols, and The Ramones.

But in 1982, he walked away from it all. By the time Nelson died in his New York City apartment in 2006, everything he’d written had been relegated to back issues of old music magazines.

“My original idea for this book was simply to anthologize Paul Nelson’s best work so that today’s readers could discover, as I had in my youth, his elegant and brilliant writings,” explains author Kevin Avery. “But I soon realized that, in doing these pieces, Paul was ultimately telling his own story. And his story was so damn compelling it was impossible for me not to write about it.

American journalist, biographer, and poet Nick Tosches wrote the foreword to this landmark work of cultural revival, which stands as a tribute to and collection of one of the unsung critical champions of popular music.
DIG THE NEW BREED
Jim Starlin's 'Breed Comes to Image in May

BERKELEY, CA – 31 March 2011 – The legendary Jim Starlin is set to conclude his groundbreaking series, 'BREED, and he's doing it at Image. ‘BREED III begins the story's charge to its climactic and pulse-pounding finish, while ‘BREED: BOOK OF GENESIS trade paperback collects the first chapter of Starlin’s long-out of print epic. Both will be released on May 11.

Although he has contributed to various titles of multiple genres, Starlin is best known as the master of the cosmic comics, thanks to his work on Captain Marvel, Warlock, Silver Surfer and The Infinity Gauntlet triology. He was also an early proponent of creator-owned comics with his long-running Dreadstar series.

"This, I believe, was the best work I ever did," stated Jim Starlin on the upcoming ‘BREED: BOOK OF GENESIS collection. "I rank the ‘BREED series even over my Thanos and Dreadstar series. It's, quite simply, my favorite creation."

The original ‘BREED was a six-issue miniseries published by the short-lived Bravura Comics imprint during 1994. It was quickly followed by ‘BREED II, and now in ‘BREED III #1, the series’ titular protagonist, Ray Stoner, has to face the fact that he can no longer hide from what he is: a monster. He returns to the mystical city Elsewhere and discovers much has changed. He unwillingly finds himself to be part of a struggle with much higher stakes than he feels ready for.

"This is a series I've been waiting more than 10 years to finish off,” Starlin explained. “Be warned, after a good fight at the beginning I sneak in some story, but it's okay – the last three issues are one continuous epic battle. By the way, nearly everything you think you know about 'Breed is incorrect, whether you read the original two series or not."

‘BREED III #1, a 32-page full color comic book priced at $2.99 and ‘BREED: BOOK OF GENESIS, VOL. 1, a 176-page full color trade paperback priced at $17.99 will both be in stores on May 11, 2011.

Legendary underground live painter continues his epic art tour with WonderCon this weekend in San Francisco.

March 30, 2011, San Francisco, CA—Sean Dietrich, the San Diego live painter who has racked up almost 900 live art shows up and down the west coast, brings his 2011 Art Tour to San Francisco this weekend for the WonderCon comic and pop culture convention.

Dietrich, who will be at booth SP60, will be selling and signing copies of his new books 'I Brought the Gutter', 'Bubbles from Atlantis', limited edition prints, and original artwork, as well as doing custom sketches for convention attendees. Patrons of the booth will be also treated to information on how to win an original painting valued at over $1000.

Best known for his live painting shows in San Diego, CA where he has cut open a girl to give birth to a 'pig baby', and hired a 350lb man to sit with his face in a plate of pasta to recreate the gluttony killing from the movie 'se7en', Dietrich is offering his latest artistic rituals in literary form; Bubbles from Atlantis, from award winning New Orleans journalist Richard A. Webster (Dietrich illustrations), tells of the first year of his existence after Katrina devastates the city. 'The Fruits of Our Labor' a tale spun by newcomers Rachel Andrews and Lexi Sadler, is a children's book that Dietrich illustrates, telling the tale of Xander who finds out what he can be when he grows up as he plunges into plates and plates of healthy fruits and veggies. The book is alphabet style and will have your children holding onto your pant leg begging not to leave the produce section of your local grocer. Finally, after two and a half years Dietrich returns to the helm as writer and artist in his opus 'I Brought the Gutter', a 180pg compendium collecting the best from 10 years of art from over 800 live art shows, accompanied by stories of the clubs, the art, the drink and the state of the San Diego art scene. You've never read an account of what it really is to be one of the most innovative artists in the child city on the ocean, spending sometimes six nights a week in the depths of bars and nightclubs smearing his craft across the amazed and shocked faces of the patrons. All books will be released through Colosseum Publishing.

Sean Dietrich currently lives in San Diego, CA and can be found painting live weekly at various clubs around town.

SURVIVING A GRAVEYARD OF EMPIRES
Mark Sable and Paul Azaceta Return to Image with a Grisly New Series This June

BERKELEY, CA – 30 March 2011 – From Alexander the Great to the Soviet Union, war-torn Afghanistan has brought the world's greatest armies to their knees, earning the nation its infamous reputation as the “graveyard of empires." With the debut of this new series from Image Comics, the Marines will not only be in danger from enemy forces, but also from the undead!

Mark Sable, writer of Unthinkable, Teen Titans: Cold Case and Two-Face: Year One returns to Image with GROUNDED co-creator and Amazing Spider-Man artist Paul Azaceta for an all-new series that combines current military events with stark horror.

"Despite the many conflicts the US military is engaged in, there is currently a real dearth of war comics," Sable explained. "I'm honored to return to Image, a publisher brave enough to tackle a comic that literally rips the face off of modern warfare."

"Mark and I researched the hell out of this book to make the military aspect as authentic as possible," added Azaceta. "But don't let that fool you – this is heart-pounding survival horror at its best!"

In GRAVEYARD OF EMPIRES, when a young lieutenant arrives at Combat Outpost Alamo, a remote outpost in Afghanistan, he learns a new kind of insurgent math. It’s said that in war, when you kill one insurgent, you create ten more by angering his family and friends. In this story, when you kill one, he comes back from the dead to infect ten of your fellow Marines.

"Mark Sable and Paul Azaceta got off to a truly auspicious start with GROUNDED, and it's great to have them working together again at Image on GRAVEYARD OF EMPIRES," Stephenson said. "They've come up with a fantastic fusion of horror and war comics that's probably best described as Robert Kirkman meets Harvey Kurtzman. Really, really excellent stuff here."

GRAVEYARD OF EMPIRES #1 (APR110400), a 32-page full color horror/survival comic that will appeal to fans of The Hurt Locker and THE WALKING DEAD, will be available for sale in a comic shop near you on June 15, 2011 for $3.99.

March 29, 2010 - Los Angeles, CA - BOOM! Studios announced today that Clive Barker's HELLRAISER #1 is completely sold out! In a historic promotion, BOOM! simultaneously released an all-new, all-original, free and completely sharable PRELUDE TO HELLRAISER #1 PDF (check #HellraiserPrelude on Twitter to obtain a copy) which aided in the dramatic sell out of Clive Barker's HELLRAISER #1 within the first three days of release! BOOM! Studios also announces today that Clive Barkers HELLRAISER #1 will be going to second print and is available to order now through Diamond Comic Distributors with the following Diamond Code: FEB118159, as well as through Haven Distributors.

Fans should keep in mind, while Diamond Comic Distributor and Haven Distributors are completely sold out, first printings of Clive Barker's HELLRAISER #1 may still be found at the local comic shop nearest you. Not sure where to find your nearest comic retailer? Please use www.comcicshoplocator.com.

“From everyone in the HELLRAISER creative team and from everyone at BOOM! – thank you for making Clive Barker's HELLRAISER #1 a sweeping success,” says BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon. “But we're not stopping there, this is just the fuel that drives us to work even harder at making the HELLRAISER ongoing series the best it can be!”

“HELLRAISER, horror and comics fans have spoken, Clive Barker's HELLRAISER #1 is a hit!” says BOOM! Studios Marketing Director Chip Mosher. “We worked hard to excite not only comics fans but horror fans everywhere looking for a gory treat with our PDF promotion. Seeing Clive Barker's HELLRAISER #1 sell out and go to second print lets me know we're reaching that goal!”

BOOM! Studios also received tremendous support from retailers both domestically and internationally for the release of Clive Barker's HELLRAISER #1:

“The new HELLRAISER comic has been outstanding with many new faces coming in to see the new material by Mr. Barker,” says comic shop owner Gary Dills of Laughing Ogre Comics in Virginia and Ohio. “I am not shocked that this book has sold out so fast, and am glad that BOOM! will be keeping copies of #1 flowing for the many Clive Barker fans yet to experience HELLRAISER #1. BOOM!'s promotion of the comic outside the normal channels in conjunction with ComicsPRO store fronts was a great vehicle for driving new faces to stores and I think that they should be applauded for working outside the traditional comic media to promote this work!"

“Well played, BOOM! Studios for producing a digital comic, that actually created new customers for the local comic shops. BOOM! Studios marketed outside the traditional comic book fan sites and drew in valuable new faces. This is the type of savvy street smart marketing that the direct market needs from our Publishing partners in order for us all to thrive and grow.” says store owner Lawrence Doherty of Larry's Wonderful World of Comics, Shows, Skate, Toys, Gaming in Massachusetts.

“BOOM! Studios positive “Comic Shop Friendly” promotions have trumpeted Clive Barker's long awaited return to Hellraiser and could not be more successful! The only surprise was that it took two days in stores to sell out.” says store owner Ralph DiBernardo of Jetpack Comics in New Hampshire.

“Clive Barker's HELLRAISER takes a horror icon in a new direction that has already, in a single issue, piqued the interest of both longtime fans and new readers alike. This is one to keep in stock for the long haul,” says store owner Thomas Gaul of CornerStoreComics in California.

“Reading this comic brought me back to when I first saw the movie," says store owner Steve Clifton of Clifton's Comics & Games in Ohio. “As chilling as the original, I can't wait for more!”

“New Hellraiser? Easy sell. New Hellraiser written by Clive Barker himself? Unbelievably frickin' easy sell!” says store owner Jay Bardyla of Happy Harbor Comics of Alberta, Canada.

In a historic online promotion never attempted by a comic book publisher, BOOM! Studios offered an all-new all-original, completely free and shareable 8 page PRELUDE TO HELLRAISER #1 PDF, written by Clive Barker with Christopher Monfette and drawn by Leonardo Manco (HELLBLAZER). The free PDF could be found hosted by some of the most popular comic and horror news websites online. Buzz circulated through the online community, especially through Twitter as followers could locate where to download the prelude PDF by searching the hashtag #HellraiserPrelude. All these efforts translated into a dramatic increase in sales causing Clive Barker's HELLRAISER #1 to sell out in its third day, sending the hit horror series into second print!

“I'd like to personally thank the comic retailer trade organization ComicsPRO and our friends at Diamond Comic Distributors for helping make such a far-fetched concept like an all-new, all-original PRELUDE TO HELLRAISER #1 PDF a reality,” says BOOM! Studios Marketing Director Chip Mosher. “We couldn’t have done it without the support of both organizations and share the success of this sell out with them both.”

Since its release, Clive Barker's HELLRAISER #1 has garnered critical acclaim from reviewers across a wide spectrum:

“...full of nightmarish imagery that horror fans will instantly crave. ” – Fangoria

FUTURE REFLECTIONS
Jonathan Hickman Debuts New Creator-Owned Series at Image in July

BERKELEY, CA – 28 March, 2011 – No one can ever claim Jonathan Hickman is lazy. Not content with helming head-turning runs on Fantastic Four, Secret Warriors and S.H.I.E.L.D., not to mention re-imagining the FF for his most recent hit, The Future Foundation, Hickman returns to Image this summer with an all-new creator-owned miniseries, THE RED WING.

"We're all pretty excited for this one," Hickman explained. "We believe we not only have a solid concept for an engaging new series, but even at this early stage, THE RED WING has that lightning in a bottle feel to it. I think people are really going to like it."

Written by Hickman, with art by amazing newcomer Nick Pitarra and colors by Rachelle Rosenberg, THE RED WING marks Hickman's first creator owned work since the conclusion of the critically acclaimed A RED MASS FOR MARS.

"Nick is going to really surprise some people," Hickman said. "When the art for this starts hitting the web, and then when the finished product shows up in stores, many of them are going to wonder where this guy has been hiding. Nick's a very hungry, special, special talent. I consider myself fortunate to be working with him."

Set in a future where the best fighter pilots in the world not only have to master their craft and perfect their skills, the heroes of THE RED WING also have to learn how to navigate through time. Described by Hickman as "the greatest battle in the history of the history of three worlds," the four-issue miniseries is but the first concept to be mined by Hickman & Pitarra as part of Hickman's ongoing "PLUS!" project.

"Well, I've been promising I'd get to this for over a year, so now it's time," Hickman said. "We'll start with THE RED WING, and then I'll be writing and drawing something called, FEEL BETTER NOW, before Nick and I move on to our next exciting project. We have a busy, aggressive slate of exciting stories to tell, and, like I said before, it's time."

"It's a real privilege to be working with Jonathan and the incredible team he's assembled for THE RED WING," added Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson. "Since his comics debut with THE NIGHTLY NEWS, Jonathan has been one of the most unique and visionary voices in contemporary comics, and after hearing what he has planned for THE RED WING and the rest of the PLUS! series, I can guarantee you he's not planning to rest on his laurels anytime soon!"

THE RED WING #1 (of 4), a 32-page full color comic with a cover price of $3.50, will be available for order now in the May issue of Previews and will go on sale July 6.

Jolly Rogue Studios is walking on Cloud Nine

For Immediate Release, Warwick RI: Earlier this year, acclaimed comic book creator Everett Soares announced he was taking over the publishing duties for his ongoing fantasy steampunk series after a three-year partnership with Connecticut-based publisher Free Lunch Comics. Since that transition, Soares is excited to now announce the recent acquisition of rights to republish Sky Pirates of Valendor Volume One under the newly established Jolly Rogue Studios.

Sky Pirates of Valendor Volume One first launched in February 2008 and the collected volume achieved national distribution through Diamond Distributors in August 2010. During its run, Soares was honored with distinctions from the CAG Awards and was nominated by Project Fanboy for Best Writer. These successes motivated Soares to keep the entire series under one banner, the Jolly Rogue Studios banner.

Sky Pirates of Valendor recounts the adventures of Pirate Captain Tobin Manheim and the rest of the crew of the Rogue’s Revenge. Set in the fantasy world of Valendor where giant continents float on oceans of sky. A mix of steampunk and high fantasy where magic co-exists with futuristic technology, Valendor is a fully realized world, with complex social structures, a guild-driven economic system, and a host of political intrigue. In Volume One, life as one of the most notorious pirates in Valendor comes with its own set of ups and downs, and sometimes all Tobin Manheim wants is an easy job. His wish comes true when Governor Langford offered him one on a silver platter. Tobin saw an opportunity to make an easy coin and he pounced on it without question. However the costs became greater than the rewards. First cost - Tobin’s dignity. He has to work with his ex-wife. From there, things seem to go straight into the privy. Past accounts become due, parts of his ship explode and when things seemed to brighten up, they only got worse. What happens though when Tobin reaches his limit and just wants the job to be over? Revenge!

Under the new publishing label, Soares has ambitious goals. To catch Volume One up with its successor, the individual issues will be electronically distributed exclusively through Cloud 9 Comix, the digital comic book publishing arm of Spectrum Pacific Publishing founded by Benjamin Slabak in 1996, in Sydney, Australia. Having produced and published over 30 computer games, Spectrum Pacific Publishing moved towards print publishing in 2009 and digital publishing in 2010, with Cloud 9 Comix.

Besides the change in publisher, readers will find some noticeable changes to the content of the issues. Two of the issues will feature new cover art by series artist Brian Brinlee and each individual issue will now feature a Cast of Characters section. Jolly Rogue Studios plans to make each issue of Volume One and its collected volume available for print distribution through IndyPlanet.com and ComicsMonkey.com, making the entire series accessible to retail comic book stores at a discount on an ongoing basis. The collected volume will also be available on Amazon.

Readers and retail venues can expect Sky Pirates of Valendor Volume One to be available on the iPad and in print by the end of April. For more information on the series, visit http://www.skypiratesofvalendor.com.
