URBANIACS SNAPS OUT 14 MILLIONTH WEDGIE
ON EVE OF iPHONE LAUNCH
Urbaniacs' Mayor DaMan Announces Latest Milestone as Wedgie Toss 2 Goes Mobile
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
ENCINO, Calif. – (June 11, 2009) – On the eve of the worldwide launch of Wedgie Toss 2 for the iPhone this week, Urbaniacs.com, the online comic book world come to life, reached a new milestone with the snapping of the virtual world’s 14 millionth wedgie, it was shouted from the rooftops of Urbanville by the town’s leading political figure, Mayor DaMan.
Released just a year ago, Wedgie Toss 2 was immediately embraced by the teen/tween residents of the burgeoning virtual world of Urbaniacs, who have since snapped out over 14 million game plays on www.urbaniacs.com and over 80 flash game aggregator Web sites.
"We believe 14 million+ wedgies breaks the record," said company president Josh Fisher. "What kind of record, we're not sure. If not a flash game record, then we'll claim the virtual wedgies record."
On the heels of the game’s latest milestone, Wedgie Toss 2 is embarking on a quest to conquer the world of mobile and handheld gaming devices as the latest application for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Wedgie Toss 2 is now available at iTunes for 99 cents.
Wedgie Toss 2 is just one of over 25 flash games on Urbaniacs, a free social game community developed by Brandissimo! with over 150,000 members who create their own virtual super-avatar, make friends ("Homies") and take on their Arch-Enemies in multi-player battles.

REICHEN LEHMKUHL AND BLUEWATER DEVELOP "THE WASPS" FOR COMICS SERIES AND FEATURE FILM
At the height of World War II, a select group of women blazed the trail as Air Force aviators. These women, known as WASP (Women Airforce Service Pilots) are the subject of a new action-adventure-fantasy comic series developed by Bluewater Productions and television personality, author and former Air Force captain Reichen Lehmkuhl.
"The Wasps," is inspired by the exploits of Lehmkuhl's real-life grandmother and WASP pilot , Betty Turner Stagg, is a time travel story that follows the adventures of a modern day Air Force pilot trapped in 1942. Along with fighting Nazis, and racing against time to find a mysterious artifact, the hero gets the opportunity to fly and fight alongside his grandmother, a decorated female pilot.
"What attracted me to this story is the dynamic between grandson and grandmother," said Bluewater president Darren G. Davis, "He knows who she is, but can't tell her. There's that thin line between completing the mission and changing history. But most important, it's a love letter to family pride and the bonds of friendship that forge between people in times of danger and adversity."
The comic series, which is also being developed as a feature film, is scheduled to hit the stands 2010. “When I 1st read the comic book script for this, I fell in love with it”. Said Lisa K. Brause, from Golden House Entertainment who is developing this property as a film with Lehmkuhl attached. "Reichen is such an amazing talent, while the story is full of action adventure with a heart. These make the perfect combination to bring to a film." Brause is in development with other comic book properties such as Mike S. Miller's "Deal With the Devil," Frank Cho's "Liberty Meadows" & Bluewater's "Legend of Isis."
Lehmkuhl, best known for his winning stint on CBS' The Amazing Race as well as being a gay advocate said “I never thought I would have the opportunity to help write, design, and publish a comic book series!” said Reichen Lehmkuhl. “When Darren approached us about the project, I knew making my story into a comic book would not only help to make an important point in another effective way and would be a great deal of work, but that this project was going to be fun. I’ve learned so much about this side of the publishing industry and have a new-found respect for those who make it happen.”
Prior to Reichen’s professional acting and entertainment debut, he was playing the role of his life while in the Air Force. Not wanting to face a court martial for being gay, Reichen had to live in two different worlds. These issues will be brought up in the comics series.
The book, co-written by Lehmkuhl, Davis and Adam Gragg is being penciled by Jacob Bear.

About Reichen Lehmkuhl:
Since winning the Amazing Race, Reichen has caught the eye of several casting directors and has appeared on Frasier, The Drew Carey Show, Days of Our Lives, and The Young & The Restless. He has also performed in three movies including “Ethan Greene”, “Partners”, and “The Scorned”, as well as having appeared on his own television show, “The Reichen Show” on the Q Television Network. He is one of the stars of the E! television production “Kill Reality”, and is now on the series “Dante’s Cove” (as Trevor) on the Here! Television Network. He has hosted many other shows on a variety of subjects and on a variety of major and cable networks. "Here’s What We’ll Say”, detailing the hardships of living a lie, hiding his being gay, and what needed to be done to make it through the U.S. Air Force Academy. The book was quickly picked up by Carroll and Graf and has been on shelves world-wide since Fall of 2006.
About WASP:
In the early 1940s, the US Airforce faced a dilemma. Thousands of new airplanes were coming off assembly lines and needed to be delivered to military bases nationwide, yet most of America's pilots were overseas fighting the war. To deal with the backlog, the government launched an experimental program to train women pilots to fly military aircraft. The Women Airforce Service Pilots, also known as WASP, were pioneering organizations of civilian female pilots employed to fly military aircraft under the direction of the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. The female pilots would eventually number in the thousands, each freeing up a male pilot for combat service and duties. Because of the pioneering and the expertise they demonstrated in successfully flying every type of military aircraft, from the fastest fighters to the heaviest bombers, the WASP blazed a trail for women of future generations to follow. The WASP had proven conclusively that female pilots, when given the same training as male pilots, were just as capable as men.

PRESS RELEASE - CHEW #1 BITES ITS WAY INTO A SELL OUT!
The cannibalistic crime thriller, CHEW, sells out with a second printing on the way!
10 June 2009 (Berkeley, CA) - CHEW, the all-new crime series with a cannibalistic twist from writer John Layman and illustrator Rob Guillory, debuted to a near immediate distribution-level sell out despite a significant overprint, resulting in a second printing.
"I've been insisting for years that the comic book industry has been clamoring for more books with double page spreads of non-costumed characters eating soup, and it's gratifying to see there indeed is a robust market for such a book," Layman said. "Big thanks to everybody --retailers, readers and reviewers-- who came out in such shocking numbers to check out something new and different, and more than a little bit weird. Rob Guillory's amazing art certainly played a big part in attracting people's attention, so I want to thank him for his great work as well."
CHEW's star, Detective Tony Chu, is a cop with a secret. As a Cibopath, Detective Chu gets a psychic impression from whatever he eats. While it means he's a hell of a Detective if he can stomach the evidence, once his secret gets out the government makes plans for him, whether he likes it or not. CHEW blends horror, mystery and the strangest ability of them all in an ongoing series of horrific crimes solved in the most horrific way possible. Since its release the book has been receiving an immense amount of buzz with many retailers directly contacting Image for as many copies as they can spare. Even Layman's fellow creators have been talking up the book.
CASANOVA and Uncanny X-Men Writer Matt Fraction commented, "Of all the times John Layman has made me want to throw up, this was the best. CHEW is disturbed and disturbing and warped and grotesque and hilarious and horrifying-- in short, exactly the kind of book we were all afraid John Layman had hiding inside of him somewhere. Now when they find the bodies, we can all hold up copies of CHEW and say SEE? WE TOLD YOU THIS WAS COMING. Oh, and Rob Gullory is going to helllllllllll."
CHEW #1 2nd Printing (APR098373) and CHEW #2 (MAY090346), both thirty-two page full color comic books for $2.99, will be in stores July 1st, 2009.

IDW Releases the Veil
New series from El Torres and Gabriel Hernandez
San Diego, CA (June 10, 2009) – Blurring the line between the living and the dead, IDW is proud to launch a new comic series from writer El Torres (Zombies!: Eclipse of the Undead) and artist Gabriel Hernandez (Clive Barker’s The Thief of Always). The Veil, with the first issue available in stores today, chronicles Chris Luna, a private eye whose clients are all dead. Unable to make a living, she is forced to move back to Maine and confront the darkness lurking in her sleepy hometown.
“Gabriel showed us what he could do when he illustrated The Thief of Always, and it’s great to have him once again put his ability to convey otherworldly concepts to good use on The Veil,” said Chris Ryall IDW’s Publisher/Editor-in-Chief. “Between his artistry and the great story telling of El Torres, we are very enthusiastic about The Veil.”
In the four-issue series, El Torres sets a truly eerie scene of ghosts wandering the streets of Crooksville, Maine and of residents slowly being driven insane by a supernatural force. Hernandez masterfully illustrates each nuance, including a malevolent presence known only as the Slug Man who threatens to rip the veil between the living and the dead.
In addition to covers by Hernandez, each issue will also feature a cover by award-winning designer/artist Ashley Wood.
“It’s said that humans only use ten percent of our brains, but we don’t think that’s true,” commented El Torres and Hernandez. “As you’ll see in The Veil, the other 90 percent is frantically trying to hide the horror of reality from us.”
The Veil #1 is now available in stores. Diamond order code APR09 0872.

IDW Announces Angel: Only Human
Four-issue miniseries starting in August
San Diego, CA (June 5, 2009) – Coming this August, IDW offers Angel fans yet another hair-raising adventure. Spinning out of IDW’s main Angel storyline, Angel: Only Human follows Illyria and Gunn on a bizarre road trip as they try to reconcile their “inner” demons with their newfound humanity. Written by Scott Lobdell with art by David Messina, Angel: Only Human is a funny and frightening five-part story with two of the Angelverse’s most complex and beloved characters.
“Angel: Only Human is a fun and creepy detour from the main storyline,” said Chris Ryall, IDW’s Publisher/Editor-in-Chief. “This miniseries shows fans more about what’s happened to Illyria Gunn now that they’re both dealing with the consequences of After the Fall and how they tried to end, well, every thing.”
Available monthly beginning in August, Angel: Only Human takes Illyria and Gunn on a journey that involves funerals, fire, and family obligations. Not to mention the return of one of the most terrifying demon gangs from the original TV series, The Scourge. Artist David Messina beautifully illustrates every entrail-laden battle and heartfelt emotional moment as Gunn and Illyria realize they have far more in common than a desire for destruction. With striking covers by Messina, fans should also look out for variant covers by David Dorman.
Angel: Only Human #1 will be available in stores in August. Diamond order code JUN09 0935
