EMERALD CITY COMICON ANNOUNCEMENT:
DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT PROUDLY PRESENTS A DELUXE HARDCOVER
TREATMENT OF JOSEPH MICHAEL LINSNER'S DAWN/VAMPIRELLA

Crossover Event Featuring Two Female Comics Icons Gets an All-New Collection!

April 8, 2016, Mt. Laurel, NJ: In 2014, the acclaimed Joseph Michael Linsner scripted a crossover event sharing the spotlight between his beloved creator-owned heroine Dawn and Dynamite Entertainment's horror icon, Vampirella.

Joseph Michael Linsner, the celebrated creator of Dawn, wrote and illustrated the first-ever crossover event for his beloved goddess, teaming her -- and pitting her against -- Vampirella! When the silver-tongued demon Masodik kidnaps these beautiful, powerful women, he demands that the two engage in a catfight to prove which is best suited as his new paramour. The ladies suggest to combat in a more sophisticated and feminine way: by engaging in a storytelling contest. Together, Dawn and Vampirella take us on a journey to the bloody shores of Drakulon, post-apocalyptic New York, and worlds beyond imagination. Ultimately, they know that they must join forces to overcome him... but what common ground can be found between goddess and vampire?

This deluxe hardcover features an all-new introduction and never-before-seen bonus material by Joseph Michael Linsner, as well as all six of the artist's breathtaking covers, plus an afterword by Kristina Deak-Linsner.

"Vampirella is comic book royalty, right up there with Wonder Woman, Sue Storm, and Red Sonja," says Linsner. "She is an icon; there is only one Vampi. In many ways, she is the original independent 'Bad Girl.' She started in black and white, and so did Dawn. It is an extreme honor to have Dawn share the stage with Vampirella in her very first crossover."

"Joe Linsner wove an incredible tapestry with Dawn and Vampirella, and beautifully illustrated the series. When we discussed collecting the series, we knew we had to up our game and give it the deluxe treatment to help match the incredible story and art," says Dynamite CEO/Publisher Nick Barrucci. "The crossover with Dawn and Vampirella was a once-in-a-lifetime event, and now fans can have this masterfully rendered story on their bookshelves."

Joseph Michael Linsner is most well-known for Dawn, his personal Pin-Up Goddess. After her debut appearance on the cover of Cry for Dawn #1 in 1989, Dawn struck a chord with thousands of fans on an international level. She is currently published in six languages and has come to life in the form of statues, action figures, t-shirts, lithographs, lunch boxes, and trading cards. An award-winning illustrator, Linsner has painted covers for all of the major comics characters, including Wolverine, the Justice League, Conan, and Vampirella. One of his proudest moments was getting to illustrate a short story written by Stan Lee for Actor Comics Presents.

This deluxe hardcover features 144 pages of whimsical art and story by Joseph Michael Linsner, priced at $24.99, and on sale in finer comic shops and bookstores everywhere in June.

GARTH ENNIS RETURNS TO
RED TEAM
WITH DOUBLE TAP, CENTER MASS!

New Series To Launch July 2016!

April 8, 2016, Mt. Laurel, NJ: Following the critical success of 2014's Red Team, Garth Ennis and Craig Cermak return to the Manhattan's mean streets with the elite NYPD narcotics unit in Red Team: Double Tap, Center Mass!

One year after the catastrophic events that ended the first series, Red Team survivors Eddie Mellinger and Trudy Giroux are in the doldrums. Considered a political liability, the two are kept busy on small-time cases by their suspicious NYPD commanders... but a chance encounter in the ghetto gives them a chance to get back in the game. Trouble is, it means going far beyond the law… which is what almost got them killed last time around.

"Red Team: Double Tap, Center Mass features the return of two of my favorite characters, Detectives Eddie Mellinger and Trudy Giroux of the NYPD," says writer Garth Ennis. "The first Red Team saw them survive by the skin of their teeth; now they're dropped right back in at the deep end, with their growing feelings for each other only complicating matters. Writing this series is a real treat for me, and getting to work with Craig Cermak again makes it even better."

"This is Ennis at his finest, working the inside of a cop shop gone sideways," says Dynamite Senior Editor Joseph Rybrandt. "Along with Craig Cermak, one of the finest artists working in comics today, the team delivers a drama that rivals anything on television."

"Dynamite's ongoing working relationship with Garth Ennis has been one of the most rewarding in our time as a publisher," says Dynamite CEO/Publisher, Nick Barrucci. "He is truly a master of genre, and the first Red Team series was one of his best crime series to date."

Red Team: Double Tap, Center Mass reunites Garth Ennis (Preacher, The Boys) with up-and-coming artist Craig Cermak for another nine-issue run of hardboiled crime comics at their finest! Look for the first issue in stores on July 20th!

“Rat Queens” Kurtis Wiebe Brings “Bounty” This Summer

KICK ASS! SHOOT FIRST! GET PAID!

FOR EMERALD CITY COMIC CON: Dark Horse Comics is happy to announce that Rat Queens Eisner Award-nominated writer Kurtis Wiebe is bringing his latest creator-owned series to readers this summer with the arrival of Bounty #1.
This ongoing series sees Wiebe join forces with pop-comic sensation Mindy Lee to present a femme-fatale sci-fi caper of epic proportions!
Bounty is strongly my voice and one of my favourite comics I've ever written,” says Wiebe.   “While it's about sisters who hunt criminals in the future, it is ultimately about the nature of family and the trust we share with those closest to us.  With a little bit of action and romance on the side. What Mindy Lee is doing with the art is unlike anything I've seen in comics before.”
The Gadflies were the most wanted criminals in the galaxy. Over the years, they’d stolen from the galaxy’s most evil corporations and redistributed their ill-gotten gains to the less fortunate. Doing so earned them a reputation as the roughest outlaws in the universe—with a bounty to match! Now, with the law closing in on them, the Gadflies are forced to abandon their bandit personas in favor of a new career as bounty hunters . . . ’cause if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em—then rob ’em for all they’re worth!
It’s Rat Queens meets Firefly!
Bounty #1 debuts on July 6 and retails for $3.99.  Preorder a copy today at your local comic shop.
Praise for Wiebe:
“With an honest love for the genre, Wiebe [is] building an impressive addition to the sword and sorcery genre of comics.”—Newsarama
“Wiebe fully understands the story he wants to tell. There's a confidence to his writing, a sense of direction.”—IGN
“Wiebe holds nothing back through his situational humor and his ability to turn clichés on their heads.”—Comic Book Resources
“Wiebe delivers, piping some fun and freshness in an otherwise overdone genre.”—Comics Bulletin
“The first issue of Wiebe’s new series is a roaring success as far as I’m concerned.”—Population Go
“I recommend checking in on the ground floor because it’s positioning itself as one of the most compelling stories of the new year.”—iFanboy

DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES
THE RELEASE OF THE ART OF ATARI®!

The History of One of Pop Culture's Most Iconic Brands
Revisited in an Essential Hardcover Compendium for Gamers of All Ages!

April 8, 2016, Mt. Laurel, NJ: The popularity of video games has reached an all-time high, with modern releases boasting production budgets bigger than most Hollywood films, and grossing far beyond even the biggest box office smash! Now, Dynamite Entertainment returns to the roots of gaming with The Art of Atari!

From the arcade to the living room, Atari is one of the most recognized names in the world. Since its formation in 1972, the company pioneered hundreds of now classic titles including Asteroids, Centipede, and Missile CommandThe Art of Atari is the first official collection of original artwork created for arcades, home video systems, and computers, commissioned to enhance the Atari experience and further entice children and adults to embrace and enjoy the new era of electronic entertainment. Sourced from private collections and museums worldwide, this book spans over 40 years of the company's unique illustrations used in packaging, advertisements, catalogs, and more.

The Art of Atari represents the most comprehensive retrospective to date, clocking in at over 350 pages, and collecting production and concept artwork, photos, and marketing materials. Fans can glean exclusive insight from key people involved in Atari's rich history, with behind-the-scenes details on how the most iconic games in early video game history were conceived, illustrated, and developed!

The Art of Atari features an exclusive foreword by New York Times bestseller Ernest Cline, author of Ready Player One, soon to be a motion picture directed by Steven Spielberg. Whether you're a fan, collector, or new to the world of Atari, this book offers the most complete collection of artwork ever produced!

"Atari is remembered as the pioneer of video games -- creating fun, innovative classics like Missile Command, Asteroids, Centipede, and more. But the company was much more than that," says Tim Lapetino, co-author and Executive Director of the Museum of Video Game Art. "Atari's creative culture set the standard for Silicon Valley startups, while its art and design-driven approach yielded an amazing body of work in illustration, graphic design, and industrial design."

"Atari spearheaded a transformation of an entire generation's consciousness," says pop-culture consultant, Robert V. Conte.  "As comic books changed the face of American entertainment in the 1930s and 1940s, video games did something more in the 1970s and 1980s. Starting with Pong, the company changed our world forever."

"This book collaboration with a recognized giant in the publishing industry is important because it showcases the quality and appeal of our brand and our intellectual property rights worldwide," says Todd Shallbetter, COO of Atari. "We are excited for this book of our rich, iconic history to be added to the collection of our many devoted fans, both new and existing."

"In the last few years, we have seen video game art books top the New York Times and Amazon bestseller lists," says Dynamite CEO/Publisher, Nick Barrucci. "We have been granted the chance to publish the most essential book yet, highlighting the video game publisher that started it all: Atari! Like everyone, I have fond memories of not only the games themselves, but the incredible art on the cartridges. This is truly a historic moment for Dynamite, as we get to share the history behind one of the most iconic brands in the world!"

"This is a project that I personally have invested a lot of time in, so it's been really gratifying to see it start to come together. The team creating the book is really doing an outstanding job in terms of both content and design" says Rich Young, Dynamite Director of Business Development. "There are pieces of art I'd seen before that I'd forgotten about, but when I see them now in this book, I remember seeing them for the first time, and it brings up some fond memories of discovering these video games back in the day. The art they had created was very iconic and helped further spur your imagination on when actually playing the games."

Lapetino concludes, "The artwork of Atari inspired a generation and created a bridge from the simple on-screen graphics of those early games, to the imaginations of eager gamers. Atari's creative efforts became the template that an eventual multi-billion dollar industry would follow."

For updates, preview art, and details on upcoming editions, visit www.artofatari.com, and look for The Art of Atari when it arrives in a premium 9.625" x 11" hardcover format at fine retailers everywhere in October, with a retail price of $39.99!

Stel and Atan are interstellar repairmen trying to find a lost space station and its crew. What they discover about the universe and themselves on the mythical paradise planet Edena, though, changes their lives forever.
Following the debut of The World of Edena this fall, Dark Horse and Moebius Production are also announcing the next installments in the Moebius Library over the next few years, including The Art of Edena, Inside Moebius Part 1, Inside Moebius Part 2, Inside Moebius Part 3, and The Art of Moebius.  Both The Art of Edena and Art of Moebius will include never-before-seen pieces from the artist’s private collection, most of which have not appeared in English-language publications.  Additionally, these will be the first English-language editions of Moebius’s renowned, six-chapter autobiographical series Inside Moebius.
The World of Edena, a deluxe, 344 page hardcover premiers on October 26 and retails for $49.99.  Preorder your copy today at your favorite online retailer or local comic book shop.
    Praise for Moebius
“Moebius’s Arzach had a great impact on me.  But it’s definitely true that I created Nausicaä with Moebius’s influence.”—Hayao Miyazaki
“Moebius excelled as much in the fluidity of his storytelling as he did in the brilliance of his linework. There’s real beauty in his work. It’s quite a rare thing for an artist to be able to translate so much of the scale and grandeur and detail of their own imaginings into simple, elegant lines that can be so easily shared with others.”—Frank Quitely
“He is a master draftsman, a superb artist, and more: his vision is original and strong.”—George Lucas
“I read [Métal Hurlant] over and over and envied the French because they had everything I dreamed of in comics – beautifully drawn, visionary and literate comics, for adults. I wanted to make comics like that when I grew up."—Neil Gaiman

Jean Giraud was born in 1938 in Nogent-sur-Marne, France. After starting his career at age sixteen, he collaborated with many great artists, writers, and filmmakers. Jean Giraud used his Moebius pen name mainly when he worked on his humor, fantasy, and science-fiction stories. After cofounding the Humanoïdes Associés publishing house, which launched Heavy Metal magazine (Métal Hurlant in French) in 1975, Jean Giraud continued to develop a unique and innovative style under the name Moebius. His collected volumes include Arzach (1975), The Airtight Garage (1976), and The Incal (1980) with writer Alejandro Jodorowsky. Moebius’s film work includes storyboards and concept designs for Alien, Time Masters, Tron, The Abyss, and The Fifth Element. In France in 1997, he started the Moebius Production/Stardom publishing house with his wife, Isabelle, releasing 40 Days in the Desert B (1999), Le chasseur déprime (2008), and the Inside Moebius series (2004-2010). Throughout his life, Jean Giraud / Moebius had major art exhibitions in Europe and Asia, but it was not until 2010 in Paris that he was the subject of a retrospective exhibition, held by the Fondation Cartier and titled Moebius-Transe-Forme. He died in his home in Montrouge, France, on March 10, 2012, at the age of seventy-three.

JEFF LEMIRE’S “Black Hammer” Ongoing Series Back on Track

And the heroes are coming out swinging!

FOR EMERALD CITY COMICON: After a series delay, Dark Horse Comics is proud to announce the return of Xeric Award–winning and Eisner, Ignatz, and Harvey Award–nominated cartoonist JEFF LEMIRE and artist DEAN ORMSTON’s much-anticipated original ongoing series BLACK HAMMER.
From the prodigious brain of Lemire (Descender, Sweet Tooth, Essex County, A.D.: After Death, Plutona) comes Black Hammer, a character-based superhero drama amazingly brought to life by Ormston (Lucifer, The Sandman) with colors by none other than Eisner Award–winning veteran Dave Stewart.
Once they were heroes, but the age of heroes has long since passed. Banished from existence by a multiversal crisis, the old champions of Spiral City—Abraham Slam, Golden Gail, Colonel Weird, Madame Dragonfly, and Barbalien—now lead simple lives in a timeless farming town. Even as they try to find their way home, trouble has a unique way of finding heroes wherever they are!
Black Hammer has been a labor of love for me,” says Lemire. “It’s a project that I’ve been working on in various forms for seven years.”
With a variant cover by Lemire, Black Hammer #1 launches on July 20 and retails for $2.99. Preorder your copy today at your local comic book store.
    Praise for Black Hammer:
“At once an epic, gripping superhero mystery, and a heartfelt meditation on why superheroes matter, Black Hammer is easily one of Lemire’s best creations. Peopled with fantastic characters like the haunting Colonel Weird and the mysterious Madame Dragonfly—each made wondrously vibrant by Ormston’s pen—Black Hammer is a place you too will find nearly impossible to leave.”—Scott Snyder (Wytches)
“On my pull list by the time I got to page five.”—Mark Waid (Kingdom Come)
“Jeff Lemire’s Black Hammer feels like it’s walking two roads—one honoring the past of superhero comics, and one forging a path into the future of the genre.”—Cullen Bunn (Harrow County)
Black Hammer feels like a superhero story through an X-Files lens; it’s strange and melancholy and real. The tale evokes an immense world filled with typically deep Lemire-ian themes of isolation, joy and simplicity. I can’t wait to see where he goes from here.”—Charles Soule (Star Wars: Poe Dameron, Letter 44)
“Jeff Lemire, one of the most gifted writers currently working in comics, has produced another powerhouse work with Black Hammer. Combining the ‘country gothic’ feel of his own Essex County with the world of superheroes, the end result is something truly fresh, exciting and fun. I need more now!”—James Robinson (Airboy, Starman)
