GLORY, GLORY, HALLELUJAH!
Keatinge & Campbell Revive Rob Liefeld's Extreme Warrior in Glory #23

Berkeley, CA – 16 December 2011 – GLORY is back! Circling the globe, punching Nazi tanks, and saving the human race are all in a day's work for this super heroine. Come February, she'll deliver a spinning kick to the face of the new millennium!

This superhero saga for a new generation begins with GLORY #23, which will be written by Eisner & Harvey-award winner Joe Keatinge and illustrated by the creator of Wet Moon and Shadoweyes, Ross Campbell. Fans of Alan Moore's Promethea and Jim Starlin's Captain Marvel will love this smart and visceral new ongoing series.

"GLORY is a bold new vision of Extreme's premiere heroine! Joe Keatinge and Ross Campbell have held back nothing in crafting a massive epic that is equal parts fantasy, sci-fi and superhero saga." said Liefeld. "The artwork is a mashup as well, it looks like beautiful manga combined with euro-style artists such as Moebius and the detail of Geof Darrow. I told Ross that I refer to his art as 'Euro-manga.' It's bloody and violent, which reflects the tone of the story Keatinge is telling. It's brilliant; I love it."

In issue #23, Keatinge and Campbell begin to set up Glory’s future by expanding on her past in a way that promises to shock long-time fans and excite all-new readers. After the war between both her mother's god-like race and father's demon-like race, Glory has found herself on the winning side. However, Glory still has some scores to settle, and this time she's doing it her way!

"Our take on GLORY is definitely looking toward the future," explained Keatinge. "While I don't want to negate continuity, I think it's an equally bad idea to get bogged down by it. All in all, if you have never even heard of GLORY before, we created this series with you in mind. The first issue gives you everything you need to know about her. The second and third issues expand on it and set up our entire run."

"Obviously, my art style is very different from Rob's original style," added Campbell. "But that was the plan all along with this relaunch, to revive her in a new style. Rob has been so generous with letting us take on his characters, that we're putting a lot of ourselves into this work. Joe and I have already become really invested in the future of GLORY."

GLORY #23 (Campbell Cover A: DEC110469; Rob Liefeld Cover B: DEC110470), a 32-page full-color superhero comic book for $2.99, will be on sale in stores and digital platforms on February 15 and is available for order now.

FAMOUS GUEST STARS FOR DRACULA VS. ROBIN HOOD VS. JEKYLL & HYDE
Publisher Mohawk Media has today released the second issue of its new title, Dracula vs. Robin Hood vs. Jekyll & Hyde.
Not content with the title's legendary headliners, the publisher is promising several surprise guest stars.
British writer Chris Bunting says: "The second issue features not one, but two tyrants from the pages of history. Each will play a major role in the future of this series.
"Plus, a long forgotten character from the Robin Hood legend will make an overdue comeback.
"This flows directly into the ethos of this comic book: to give readers a thrilling ride through a clash of cultural titans. Expect twists and turns – including unexpected guest stars throughout the series."
Released via the publisher's paperless Eco Comics range, editor Stuart Buckley explains: "This digital comic book isn't some rough and ready webcomic. It is, for all intents and purposes, a top quality print comic book in everything but its physical format. In fact, it knocks spots off most print comic books.
"The mission statement of Mohawk Media is to produce stories that are more concerned with being entertaining than edgy. We believe that writer Chris Bunting and artist JL Czerniawski are future stars, and they're showing exactly why with this series."
Dracula vs. Robin Hood vs. Jekyll & Hyde #2 is a twenty-page issue, and is available to order now in various digital formats via the Eco Comics store: www.mohawkmedia.co.uk/ecocomics for $1.95 (approximately £1.20).
Dracula vs. Robin Hood vs. Jekyll & Hyde will initially be a three-issue monthly series available exclusively via the publisher's groundbreaking line of ECO COMICS. Further instalments of the series, and other "versus" titles, are set to be announced.

THE TIDES OF VENGENCE RISES WITH SAMURAI’S BLOOD
Image Comics Collects The 6-Issue Epic Miniseries

Berkeley, CA – December 16th, 2011 -- Image Comics is proud to announce the February release of SAMURAI’S BLOOD VOL. 1 TP, written by Owen Wiseman, illustrated by Nam Kim (Warcraft: Legends) and Matthew Dalton (Starcraft: Frontline), edited by Dave Elliott and produced by Benaroya Publishing. Set in feudal Japan, an era when lineage defined you, SAMURAI’S BLOOD involves three teenagers who must make their way through the world hiding their identities in order to find their destinies. As their village burns behind them, they are headed for a city they’d heard about only in stories. The three young samurai must now struggle to stay alive and take vengeance on the evil usurper who has destroyed the rest of their clan and the only world they’d ever known. Will they rise on the tides of vengeance, or they will they fall on the swords of fate?

The critics have raved about SAMURAI’S BLOOD:

"I’ll be picking up the 6-issue run of Samurai’s Blood...I’d suggest you do the same." - IGN

"Samurai’s Blood is just another example of all the great stuff Image Comics is putting together this year...I recommend the entire series."Comic Book Bin

“One of the best things about Samurai's Blood is its strong period feel, which is carried in particular by Nam Kim's idealized yet realistic art and Jo Chen's more expressionistic covers."Playback STL

"Once again (and unbelievably, I might add), Wiseman has upped the stakes with this story... I can’t honestly understand how this book keeps getting better every issue, but somehow it does. 5 out of 5" - Comic Attack
:

FRANCESCO FRANCAVILLA UNLEASHES

THE BLACK BEETLE!

COMING TO DARK HORSE PRESENTS #11!

December 15, MILWAUKIE, OR – Adding an exciting new layer to Dark Horse Presents, Dark Horse Comics is proud to announce a new three-part story by New York Times best-selling artist for Batman, and current Captain America artist, Francesco Francavilla: The Black Beetle!

The Black Beetle is centered on a pulp-noir character and takes place in a fictional universe that’s based in Colt City. Francavilla published several stories online and even put out an ashcan. When the ashcan sold out, Francesco quickly realized that many fans were interested in exploring this world with him. It was only a matter of time before Dark Horse approached him about bringing some Black Beetle tales to Dark Horse Presents!

“I’m working on a 24-page story, titled ‘Night Shift’ that will be spread over three issues of Dark Horse Presents. I am hugely influenced by pulp stories of the ‘30s and ‘40s, and wanted to develop a series that used that influence as a jumping-off point to explore some modern storytelling with fun twists. I think this will be a great introduction to readers who are new to this character and universe, but will also be an exciting new adventure for those who’ve been reading the online stories over the years,” Francesco states.

“As a huge fan of pulp and noir, working on my own characters and stories really gives me free reign to explore this world and create lots of fun scenarios and thrilling situations. The stories are definitely full of mystery and intrigue, plus I get to give The Black Beetle lots of cool and funky gadgets. ‘Night Shift’ promises to be full of action, excitement, danger, and double-crosses, so I am overjoyed to see this new tale in print, and hope this is the first of many more to come in Dark Horse Presents.”

For more on Francesco Francavilla’s art, check out his official website, www.francescofrancavilla.com, and his pulp blog, http://pulpsunday.blogspot.com.

Dark Horse Presents #11 is on sale April 18th, 2012!

FANTAGRAPHICS, ELYSIAN & CHARLES BURNS SERVE UP
12 BEERS OF THE APOCALYPSE

DECEMBER 14, 2011 – SEATTLE, WA. In a year-long wind-up to the end of all time (according to the Mayan calendar), Elysian Brewing Company and Fantagraphics Books, both of Seattle, are planning a series of twelve beers, issued on the 21st of each month in 2012 and featuring label artwork by Charles Burns. Taken from Burns’s weirdly apocalyptic work Black Hole, the labels will adorn Elysian’s “Twelve Beers of the Apocalypse,” featuring the creativity and unusual ingredients for which its brewing team is known. What twelve beers would you brew (and drink) if you knew they would be your last?
First up in January is NIBIRU, named for the mysterious planet X supposedly on a collision course toward Earth. The Elysian/Fantagraphics Nibiru will be a Belgian-style Tripel, flavored with an infusion of yerba maté. Combining the tasty esters of Belgian yeast and the compelling tea-like flavors of the South American herb mixture, the beer will weigh in at around 7.6% alcohol by volume (ABV). A mixture of German Northern Brewer, Czech Saaz and American Amarillo hops round out the uniqueness of the first beer of the Apocalypse. Oddly enough there’s another apocalyptic-themed Nibiru out there: a super volcano currently burbling most dangerously beneath Yellowstone National Park. It too is scheduled to end life as we know it very very soon.
February 21 will usher in RAPTURE, an ale of opulent proportions flavored with heather tips. Unlike the various Rapture events predicted by pseudoscientists and alarmist evangelicals, the beer will be very real and frankly delicious, combining the floral fragrance and slight bite of high country heather with Northwest Glacier hops in another 7% ABV beer. FALLOUT follows in March, right around the time of the vernal equinox. Fallout will be a pale ale made with green cardamom.
As Earth’s last year unfolds, other beers will appear as if by dangerous magic. Persimmons, chilies, raisins, blood oranges, rosemary and other herbs will be integrated into ales, lagers and Belgian styles using the finest local and imported ingredients. These limited brews will be available in bottles and draft and at select bars and bottle shops. We will celebrate as they are releasedon the 21st of every month in 2012with events at one or the other of Elysian’s three Seattle pubs and at Fantagraphics headquarters in the Georgetown neighborhood. Once they’re gone, these beers will never be brewed again. Then again, come December 21, that will be the least of our worries.
 REMEMBER: THE END IS BEER.

ESTEEMED ARTIST J.H. WILLIAMS III PROVIDES ALTERNATE COVER FOR ONI'S D.B. COOPER #1
Oni Press is pleased to announce that the debut issue of its brand-new series The Secret History of D.B. Cooper will ship with an alternate cover by innovative comics creator J.H. Williams III (Promethea, Batwoman). This extra special variant will be shipped to participating comics shops at a 1-to-10 ratio when The Secret History of D.B. Cooper #1 hits stands in March 2012. The standard cover is drawn by series creator Brian Churilla.
The Secret History of D.B. Cooper is a full-color series written and drawn by Brian Churilla (The Anchor, The Avengers and the Infinity Gauntlet) detailing the previously untold story of what really happened forty years ago when a man calling himself D.B. Cooper skyjacked an airplane, collected a ransom, and parachuted into oblivion taking the loot with him. Churilla's comic book retelling uncovers a vast conspiracy lurking behind the legend of D.B. Cooper. The actual tale is almost too strange to be believed, and yet too important to ignore.
Oni Press will celebrate the launch of this exciting new title with the special variant. “J.H. Williams is practically a legend himself,” commented series editor James Lucas Jones. “We're all big fans of his work. His striking compositions are often like puzzles in that the more you look at them, the more you will find hidden, mysterious depths. This makes him the perfect artist to lend his hand to Brian's unraveling of the D.B. Cooper folklore.”
“This story has intrigued me even since I was a little kid,” Churilla said. “To get to play around with the mythos in comic book form is a dream come true, and that dream has only gotten better after seeing how J.H. has chosen to interpret the material. If I were picking this comic up at my local store, I'd totally buy the one with his cover on it.”
The Secret History of D. B. Cooper #1 has a $3.99 cover price and goes on sale on March 14, 2012 at finer comic shops worldwide.

IDW Publishing and comiXology Expand Partnership
iOS Storefront Apps now powered by comiXology

read.idwpublishing.com webstore now live

All IDW Publishing titles will release same day as print

[IDW Comixology Image]December 14th, 2011 – San Diego, CA — IDW Publishing and comiXology proudly announce the expansion of their digital partnership. Starting today, these IDW apps are now powered by comiXology: IDW Comics, Transformers Comics, Star Trek Comics, Doctor Who Comics, G.I. JOE Comics, 30 Days of Night Comics, Templesmith Comics and True Blood Comics Collection. All apps are live as of today, with new and old purchases alike syncing across the entire Comics by comiXology platform — iOS, Android, Web and Kindle Fire. In addition, all IDW digital comics are also available for online purchases and reading through the simultaneous launch of a new digital comics store at read.idwpublishing.com. IDW readers now have a true “buy once, read anywhere” experience.

“Powering IDW’s entire catalog across their bestselling apps is a privilege. The diversity of IDW’s line offers something for everyone, whether you’re a comic fan or not,” said comiXology co-founder and CEO David Steinberger. “With the recent addition of Comics by comiXology pre-loaded on the Kindle Fire to our platform, IDW now has a fully cross-platform solution that can reach new fans.”

As the first comics publisher to launch its own "in app purchase" storefronts for the Apple iPad™, iPhone® and iPod touch®, IDW has long been a leader in the digital comics space —having their own IDW branded application along with introducing several unique apps catering to fans of particular titles. The IDW Comics app offers the complete digital catalog, while IDW’s apps for special series like TRANSFORMERS Comics, G.I. JOE Comics, Star Trek Comics, True Blood Comics Collection and Doctor Who Comics and most recently 30 Days of Night Comics app offer those specific comics for those specific brands.  IDW also released the first creator-based app, Templesmith Comics, featuring the art and stories of Ben Templesmith.

In addition, IDW Publishing has committed to a full same day as print release schedule, a first for the company. All new digital comics will be offered at full cover price.

“IDW has always been dedicated to making our comics and graphic novels as accessible as possible on as many platforms as possible, and this deeper IDW-comiXology relationship continues that commitment,” said IDW CEO and Publisher Ted Adams. “We are strong believers that digital comics expand the reach of these books and consistently bring new readers into the industry.”

This past October, during the New York Comic Con, IDW Publishing and comiXology announced that IDW’s library would be coming to the Comics by comiXology platform. Today’s announcement marks a new chapter in the relationship between both companies.

The addition last month of IDW Publishing titles to the Comics by comiXology helped lift comiXology’s same-day-as-print offering over the 50% threshold, signaling a sea change in the comic book publishing landscape and making Comics by comiXology the destination for all consumers wanting to discover and read the latest and greatest comic books in digital format.
All comiXology platforms feature the company’s Guided View™ Technology, enabling the reader to transition smoothly between different comic panels, mimicking the reading experience of a traditional print comic book. Purchases of comics through the IDW apps or the Comics by comiXology app will be available to read across top platforms and devices, including Apple® iOS, Android and the Kindle Fire, or on the Web at read.idwpublishing.com or comixology.com.

ANCIENT ASTRONAUT THEORIST & DISNEY PRODUCER TEAM WITH COMIC WRITER FOR NEW COMIC BOOK PROPERTIES
Josh Blaylock & David Hatcher Childress team for Ancient Astronaut Theory Graphic Novel
Kingdom Comics Co-Founder Christian Beranek & Blaylock Announce NEW WORLD ORDER: ROBIN HOOD
NOW SEEKING ARTISTS!
Chicago, IL – Devil’s Due Publishing founder Josh Blaylock (G.I. JOE, VOLTRON, MERCY SPARX, DRAFTED) has two new projects lined up with some very exciting partners, and they are seeking creative teams!
Known for years as the “Modern Day Indiana Jones” and more recently for his appearances on the ANCIENT ALIENS television series, David Hatcher Childress spends his life visiting ancient lost cities and prehistoric megalithic sites, and proposes the theory that perhaps human civilization was once more advanced than we give it credit for (alien intervention or not). He has written many novels on the subject, all published through his Adventures Unlimited Press - which will also publish the print version of the yet-to-be-named graphic novel which he is consulting on with Blaylock.
Christian Beranek is the co-founder of Disney’s Kingdom Comics, the Web Comic Factory, and a world traveler in his own right - although to places less “lost” than Childress. Beranek is co-writing Blaylock’s dystopian sci-fi concept in which a future Robin Hood figure must rise against the oppressive neo-feudalism of a New World Order’s takeover of civilization. Publishing plans are yet to be determined.
Each project will be edited and produced through Blaylock’s newly founded DDnP Project [Devil’s Due non-Profit], a not for profit venture separate from, but dedicated to Devil’s Due’s continual efforts to repay creditors owed from its economic problems that began in late 2008, The actual publishing outlets however, will vary.
ABOUT THE PROJECTS:
AFTERGODS (working title):
Once the “Gods” guided humanity and led us to the path of civilization and great technology. Then, one day, they abruptly left. This story begins on the one year anniversary of their departure.
The history you learned in school is all wrong! Not only was humanity much more advanced in what is known as prehistoric “Atlantean” times, but the global landscape was much different prior to an eventual global catastrophe.
Our reluctant hero, a young construction worker for a firm specializing in megalithic structures, must prevent that catastrophe from happening centuries too soon and save his girlfriend in the process, as they are swept up in a world of espionage and assassins. With the help of rebel black-ops mercenaries from various governments, they must prevent a secret cabal from bringing down the world’s pyramid power grid and what little order it has left.
Referred to as “G.I. JOE and Mission Impossible meet Pirates of the Caribbean and Conan”, this fiction thrill ride is inspired by REAL archaeological evidence that will be featured in its own “Easter Egg” sections.
NEW WORLD ORDER: ROBIN HOOD:
For centuries a secret group of elites pushed an agenda of globalization and centralized power, finally resulting in a complete collapse of freedom in the mid 21st century for the common person. Now with the world’s population reduced to 314,000,000 peasants, kept docile by chemtrails and a drugged food supply, living in militarized city-states, the elite heir to a massive fortune may be their only salvation. Upon learning the truth about his family’s horrid past, Anderson Vanderchild III must rise to resist what they spent years building.
Returning to the “nature state territories” to flee for his life when that fortune is taken away, he must ally with a building resistance force, and a new Robin Hood must rise to bring down the neo-feudalism plaguing the world.
This fiction “Mad Max meets Robin Hood” epic is inspired by present-day conspiracies and will be spotlighted in special Easter Egg sections.
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS:
It is asked that artists be sure to pick the subjects they are most passionate about before submitting, as the overall process will be a long endeavor if chosen! Talent should be willing to work on royalty pay and merchandising shares, although pay rates are yet to be determined and depend on final publishing plans. Such terms will be negotiated on a case by case basis.
Sequential art samples should be sent to Vanderchild03@yahoo.com with the subject header "TALENT SEARCH," and if an artist is more interested in one subject than another please specify.
Please submit three pages of sequential artwork in easy-to-view jpeg formats.
No snail mail submissions accepted. Artists must be able to scan and submit art digitally as part of the working process.
The deadline for consideration is February 12th, 2012.   Many will enter; few will get the call.
