ORIGINAL “HELLBOY” GRAPHIC NOVEL TO BE PUBLISHED IN 2017

Dark Horse to release Hellboy: Into the Silent Sea by Eisner Award-Winning Artist Gary Gianni, Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and Award-Winning Colorist Dave Stewart
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
MILWAUKIE, Ore., (August 9, 2016) Next spring, Dark Horse Comics will publish an original graphic novel, Hellboy: Into the Silent Sea, co-written by legendary Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, co-written and illustrated by Eisner Award-winning artist Gary Gianni and colored by award-winning colorist Dave Stewart. Following the events of the classic story “The Island,” Hellboy sets sail from the wreckage of a deserted island only to cross paths with a ghost ship. Taken captive by the phantom crew that plans to sell him to the circus, Hellboy is dragged along by a captain who will stop at nothing in pursuit of a powerful sea creature.
Gary Gianni has previously collaborated with iconic writers including George R. R. Martin, Harlan Ellison, Ray Bradbury and Michael Chabon and teamed up with Michael Kaluta to work on the classic pulp hero, The Shadow. Gianni is best known the creator of the Monstermen series, which appeared as a back-up feature in Hellboy. He also illustrated Prince Valiant, the syndicated newspaper comic strip, for 8 years. Gianni will illustrate Hellboy: Into the Silent Sea, with colors by Dave Stewart; Mignola will provide a cover, with colors by Stewart.
"I imagine if Hellboy: Into the Silent Sea were a movie, the Hollywood hyperbole would describe it as Hellboy's greatest adventure,” said Gary Gianni. “Yes... it's Hellboy as you've never seen him before, laughing , loving and battling his way across the stormy seas! You'll be thrilled as he faces cosmic forces terrorizing a haunted ship manned by a desperate crew! Be sure not to miss Hellboy: Into the Silent Sea, the biggest comic book event of the year!"
Hellboy: Into the Silent Sea is the third Hellboy original graphic novel, following the classics, Hellboy: House of the Living Dead by Mignola, Richard Corben and Stewart (2011) and Hellboy: The Midnight Circus by Mignola, Duncan Fegredo and Stewart.
Pre-order Hellboy: Into the Silent Sea on Amazon and Penguin Random House.

About Gary Gianni
Gary Gianni graduated from The Chicago Academy Of Fine Art in 1976. From there, he worked for the Chicago Tribune as an illustrator and Network Television News as a courtroom sketch artist. His artwork has appeared in numerous magazines, children's books and paperbacks. 1990 marked his debut in the illustrated graphic novel field with adaptations of The Tales of O. Henry and 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea for the Classics Illustrated series. In 1997 collaborating with Archie Goodwin, his illustrations won him The Eisner Award for Best Short Story, Heroes, in Batman: Black And White, for DC Comics. At Dark Horse Comics, he wrote and drew Indiana Jones and The Shrine Of The Sea Devil, collaborated with such major writers as Harlan Ellison and Andrew Vachss and teamed up with Michael Kaluta to work on the enduring pulp hero, The Shadow. The  prequel is part of Martin's ongoing Game of Thrones masterwork, A Song of Ice and Fire.  3 volumes by Robert E. Howard featuring Conan, Solomon Kane and Bran Mak Morn are novels also illustrated by Gianni.
About Mike Mignola
Mike Mignola’s fascination with ghosts and monsters began at an early age; reading Dracula at age twelve introduced him to Victorian literature and folklore, from which he has never recovered. Starting in 1982 as a bad inker for Marvel Comics, he swiftly evolved into a not-so-bad artist. By the late 1980s, he had begun to develop his own unique graphic style, with mainstream projects like Cosmic Odyssey and Batman: Gotham by Gaslight. In 1994, he published the first Hellboy series through Dark Horse. As of this writing there are twelve Hellboy graphic novels (with more on the way), several spinoff titles (B.P.R.D., Lobster Johnson, Abe Sapien, and Sir Edward Grey: Witchfinder), prose books, animated films, and two live-action films starring Ron Perlman. Along the way he worked on Francis Ford Coppola’s film Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992), was a production designer for Disney’s Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001), and was the visual consultant to director Guillermo del Toro on Blade II (2002), Hellboy (2004), and Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008). Mignola’s books have earned numerous awards and are published in a great many countries. He lives somewhere in Southern California with his wife, daughter, and cat.

KILL OR BE KILLED MARKED FOR SUCCESS
The first issue is rushed to a second printing

“When Ed Brubaker, Sean Phillips and Elizabeth Breitweiser get together, good things happen. Their latest collaboration looks to continue that winning streak, the debut propelled by its unique premise and solid early characterization.” —IGN
The bestselling team of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips (THE FADE OUT, CRIMINAL, FATALE) have hit the mark again with another hot new crime series in KILL OR BE KILLED. Image Comics is pleased to announce that the first issue is being rushed to a second printing in order to keep up with increased customer demand.

KILL OR BE KILLED follows a young man who is forced to kill bad people and how he struggles to keep his secret as it slowly ruins his life and the lives of his friends and loved ones. Both a thriller and a deconstruction of vigilantism, KILL OR BE KILLED is a departure from Brubaker and Phillips’ noir roots and is unlike anything the creative team has ever done.

Nerdist called the series: “So much darker and more twisted than anybody guessed. It’s also freaking glorious and an awesome first issue of a promising new series.”

KILL OR BE KILLED #1 remains available for purchase across all digital platforms, including the Image Comics website (imagecomics.com), the official Image Comics iOS app, Comixology’s website (comixology.com), iOS, Android, and Google Play.

We want to thank all fans and cosplayer for their quick feedback on our updated policy -- we have heard you and are adjusting to ensure our true concerns are addressed without adversely impacting your ability to cosplay at our event!
Our first priority at Baltimore Comic-Con will always be the safety and welfare of all our fans, guests, vendors, and the Baltimore community. Our amended policy is intended to address sharp-edged blades and realistic, functioning firearms. With that in mind, our AMENDED Weapons Policy follows.
The following list is not meant to be all-inclusive and the Baltimore Comic-Con reserves the right to prohibit additional items not listed in this policy. Prohibited items include:

  1. Functional firearms of any kind (including air soft guns, BB guns, cap guns, paintball guns, and pellet guns)
  2. Replica firearms (including reproductions, or toy guns that can be confused for actual firearms by law enforcement)
  3. Sharp-edged (non-dull) bladed weapons (including axes, daggers, hatchets, knives and swords, sword canes, and switch blades)
  4. Explosives of any type (including black powder, firecrackers, and fireworks)
  5. Chemical weapons (including mace and pepper spray)

If you purchase a sharp-bladed weapon (not blunt or rounded) from a Vendor at the convention, please be careful and consider keeping it in its original packaging while you're on the show floor.
We completely appreciate the time and effort that so many of our fans and guests put into their costumes and convention attire and we expect to see many suits of armor, Thor's Uru hammers, Harley's mallets, Cap's shields, etc., and they have always been and will always be welcome at our show. Whether dressing for our annual costume contest, cosplay, or simply showing your fandom, we understand that weaponry is often part of the overall presentation. We sincerely hope everyone understands these extra measures that have been designed to preserve a safe and enjoyable environment for all, and we strongly encourage everyone to continue wearing the costumes on which they have spent so much time and effort.

Thank you in advance for working with us to ensure a safe and fun time is experienced by everyone at the Baltimore Comic-Con.

Game of Thrones' Kristian "Hodor" Nairn Comes to Baltimore Comic-Con

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND - August 8, 2016 - Join us this September 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the Inner Harbor for 2016 Baltimore Comic-Con, being held at the Baltimore Convention Center. The Baltimore Comic-Con is excited to announce our next guest, Game of Thrones' Hodor, Kristian Nairn. He will be in attendance
Saturday, September 3rd and Sunday, September 4th only. Tickets for the show and Mr. Nairn are available now!
Kristian Nairn is a Northern Irish actor and DJ. He is best known for fan favorite Hodor on HBO's Game of Thrones. His portrayal of the gentle-hearted Winterfell stable boy, largely through the use of skillful body language, has cemented his status as one of the best-loved stars of the show.
Kristian has appeared as slave trader Barnaby Silver on Ripper Street, in the adventure film The Four Warriors (2015), in the Live Action Role Play comedy Treasure Trapped (2014), as himself in Chronicles of Comic Con (2013) and as a guest on the Will Wheaton Project (2014).

Kristian has also appeared on episode 37 of the comedy podcast the Yogpod, discussing his Game of Thrones role with hosts Simon Lane and Lewis Brindley.
Kristian is a highly successful DJ of 20 years' experience, performing his signature blend of progressive house to sellout venues worldwide. He has performed alongside such acts as the Scissor Sisters and Calvin Harris, and has a residency at Irish club The Kremlin. Kristian recently completed a well-reviewed DJ tour across North America and Europe, which has been described as "a throwback to the golden age of British House music." His first single, Up/Beacon (feat. Leanne Robinson), was released in July of 2015.

Kristian is also an accomplished guitarist and singer.
"Hodor!" said Marc Nathan, promoter of the Baltimore Comic-Con. "Seriously though, when we heard Kristian was a possibility, we were very excited. His portrayal of a supporting character in the sweeping Game of Thrones epic has been so utterly memorable that he has clearly made Hodor one of the show's stars, and fans of the show and of Kristian in particular recognize his amazing dramatic abilities. We're truly privileged to have him join us in 2016, and his fans are going to love it!"
