Kids’ graphic-novel publisher brings new projects and their writers


Papercutz, publisher of such popular graphic-novel series as NANCY DREW and BIONICLE®, will present news, author signings, and previews of upcoming books at Book Expo America. BEA, the leading American book-industry trade show, will take place Friday through Sunday, May 29-31 at New York City’s Jacob Javitz Center. NBM’s booth, #3662, will feature:

• Free posters (with activity guides) promoting Papercutz’s upcoming line of Geronimo Stilton graphic novels. Geronimo, a journalist mouse, has appeared in chapter books selling more than 30 million copies, according to the authoritative website Licensing.biz, and a series of animated cartoons is in production, but only now is the character appearing in graphic novels!

• NANCY DREW graphic-novel writers Stefan Petrucha and Sarah Kinney signing and handing out free books on Friday afternoon and Saturday. The website iParenting.com has given Petrucha and Kinney’s NANCY DREW work the iParenting Media Award as an outstanding product for children, and ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY calls Nancy one of the “20 All-Time Coolest Heroes in Pop Culture.”

• A postcard giveaway to help booksellers promote TALES FROM THE CRYPT’s DIARY OF A WIMPY KID satire, “Diary of a Stinky Dead Kid.” Booksellers already know about the WIMPY KID series’ massive popularity. Papercutz’s sharp-witted skewering will delight the people who love the books -- as well as the people who can’t stand them! In attendance: TALES FROM THE CRYPT writer-editor Jim Salicrup.


• News and previews of upcoming projects, including the new line of Disney Fairies graphic novels! The popularity of PETER PAN’s Tinker Bell has spawned multi-million-selling Disney Fairies DVDs, chapter books, and other merchandise. Now, Papercutz launches a line of original graphic novels to delight kids and their parents.
