Hi,

Hope that all is well... I just wanted to let you know that COFFIN, my first ever prose novel, is available for purchase at Lulu.com:

Years ago, I serialized a novel on Livejournal, a psychological thriller about the survivors of a crashed New York-New Jersey PATH train who are forced to put aside post 9/11 urban isolationism and come together as a group in order to stay alive and make it back to the surface. I stopped two-thirds of the way in, assuring faithful readers that I'd make the entire book available some day and today, I'm proud and excited to release the complete novel via Lulu, a print-on-demand house.

COFFIN follows Jeffrey Dean and Annie Wylen, commuters on the PATH line, leading individual lives filled with individual fears. When their train is derailed, they find themselves trapped with eight passengers they do not know and in order to survive, are forced to depend on the kindness of strangers in an increasingly isolated society. This is what happens when humanity comes together when the lights go out and the steps they take when the love of two individuals threatens to kill them all. Questioning the vulnerability of a post-9/11 New York and inspired by the experiences of friends and family who face the fear of suicide bombers in present day Israel, COFFIN is the tale of a group of passengers, waiting for someone to rescue them from Hell beneath the Earth, banding together with complete strangers to face claustrophobia, self-esteem, rat stampedes, emotional infatuation and the ever-present, crushing darkness as they cling to one another in hopes of reaching light at the end of the tunnel.

The book is available via Lulu.com at:

It runs 392 pages long, and costs $22.00. You'll find a preview of the book there, along with ordering information. Everything is sold and mailed via Lulu — my preview copies took about 6 days here to New Jersey and the paper/stock quality is excellent. Any issues or questions about shipping and product can be answered through the Lulu site.

For the moment, this is the only way to get the novel. It's not being sold through bookstores or the Direct Market. In about 8 weeks or so it should appear on Amazon.com and I'm hoping to get an e-Book downloadable version on there soon, as well as make it available for the Kindle and other e-readers when I have the time.

I'm excited to get this out into the world, curious to see how the POD experience works for me and hopeful that despite the somewhat hefty price (Lulu's cost calculator came up with that, based on page count and size) you'll order a copy of my first ever prose novel and let me know what you think.

Thanks for listening, and I look forward to hearing what you think about the book,

Neil Kleid
