February 16, 2010 - Los Angeles, CA - Philip K. Dick is one of science fiction’s greatest pioneers, and as BOOM! Studios continues to bring you one of his greatest masterpieces, DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP? in graphic form, New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Lethem brings you his own personal journey into Dick’s writings.

This recent essay by Lethem, titled “Crazy Friend”, makes its U.S. print debut in the pages of issues #9-12 of DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP? The essay tells of Lethem's journey as a Philip K. Dick fan—from first discovering Dick’s novels, to eventually becoming a contributor to the estate run Philip K. Dick newsletter.

Lethem’s novel, MOTHERLESS BROOKLYN, won several awards, including the National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction and was named Book of the Year by Esquire. His novel, FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, was named one of The New York Times "Editor's Choice" Books of the Year and has been published in over a dozen languages. He has received a MacArthur Fellowship and also co-wrote the Marvel Comics mini-series, OMEGA THE UNKNOWN.

“Philip K. Dick really helped make science fiction into what it is today,” said BOOM! Studios Marketing Director Chip Mosher. “At a time when people were trying to see what strange creatures lived in the depths of space, Dick made us wonder what strange creatures were living in the depths of our souls.”

“Jonathan Lethem writing on Philip K. Dick . . . wow, just wow,” said DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP? editor Bryce Carlson. “We’ve been so fortunate to have such talented people contribute to this project and now we have one of the most prolific contemporary authors commenting on one of the most masterful science fiction minds of all time—this is what I dream of.”

DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP? #9 features two covers in a 50/50 split, cover A by Moritat, cover B by Scott Keating and carries a Diamond Code of DEC090732.
