Austin Books & Comics hosts signing event with superstar
DC Comics/GREEN LANTERN comic book artist Doug Mahnke
With partners Regal Cinemas and Time Warner Cable

Austin, TX---Wednesday, June 15, 2011– Austin Books & Comics, Central Texas’s biggest and oldest comics and pop culture retailer, is proud to announce a pair of special Green Lantern events featuring Doug Mahnke, the acclaimed artist of the Green Lantern comic book series from DC Comics, presented in conjunction with promotional partners Regal Cinemas and Time Warner Cable.

Mahnke has been illustrating the monthly adventures Green Lantern written by Geoff Johns, DC Entertainment’s chief creative officer, since the beginning of the critically acclaimed, bestselling storyline, Blackest Night in 2009. Doug is a fan-favorite artist who has worked with some of the most popular writers in the industry including Grant Morrison on FINAL CRISIS and Ed Brubaker on the bestseller Batman: The Man Who Laughs during his legendary career.

Mahnke’s got his start illustrating a moody detective one-shot entitled Homicide, written by John Arcudi. The two went on to collaborate on The Mask for Dark Horse Comics and their creator-owned series Major Bummer, for DC Comics. He then made the jump to working on DC’s iconic super heroes with titles including Superman: The Man of Steel, JLA, Batman, Seven Soldiers: Frankenstein andBlack Adam: The Dark Age.

Austin Books & Comics partner Regal Cinemas will present Green Lantern artist Doug Mahnke on Friday, June 24, 7:30 pm – 10:15 pm, at Regal Gateway with a special pre-and-post Green Lantern film screening Q&A. Attendees simply purchase regular show tickets for the 7:45 pm showing of Green Lantern. Regal Gateway will also host a book signing with Mahnke in their lobby both preceding and following the Green Lantern show.
