All- new GHOSTBUSTERS Comics Series
Hits Stores Nationwide
The boys are back with local retailer exclusive covers

[Ghostbusters #1 Cover]San Diego, CA (September 28, 2011) — IDW Publishing is pleased to announce the launch of the new ongoing series, GHOSTBUSTERS. Through IDW’s partnership with Sony Pictures Consumer Products, the famous foursome are back in business starting this September. Celebrating the debut of this series, readers are encouraged to look for the nine unique covers created for select retailers throughout North America.

Similar to IDW’s hugely successful Godzilla retailer exclusive cover promotion, comic retailers were offered the opportunity to take part in the special “Be a Ghostbuster” promotion, resulting in nine different covers. Selected by participating retailers, nine people are featured on the unique covers of issue #1 as individual Ghostbusters, drawn from photo reference by the talented Alan Robinson (Phoenix Without Ashes, Weekly World News.) These original covers are only available in the nine comic stores that supported the program.

“The success of the ‘Be a Ghostbuster’ promotion was really the cherry on top of what turned out to be a fantastic launch to a new ongoing series,” said editor Tom Waltz. “Fans, old and new alike, have been filling up the many Ghostbusters-related forums and websites with proof that they are as excited as we are for a Ghostbusters ongoing series at last. The creative team has put together an awesome first issue very faithful to the flavor of the original movie. Great writing, great artwork, and 100% content -- I can’t wait to get it in readers’ hands!”

In this ongoing series starting today with issue #1, Ghostbusters fans will be treated to exciting new stories by Ghostbusters: Infestation writer Erik Burnham, fan-favorite artist Dan Schoening (Ghostbusters:What in Samhain Just Happened?!), alongside popular cover artist Nick Runge (Ghostbusters: Haunted Holidays.) In the first issue, pscychokinetic energy is on the rise again, and business is booming for the boys. Ray is troubled by what could be a prophetic dream – is this an ill omen of an upcoming apocaplyse, or just a little indigestion?

In addition to the retailer exclusive covers, issue #1 will also feature a “Who You Gonna Call” cover by Schoening, and a glow in the dark cover.

GHOSTBUSTERS #1 ($3.99, 32 pages, full color) is now available in stores. Diamond order code: JUL11 0130.
